A bit after 12:45 - What’s your favourite piece of advice for students?: “Find your own way of working. My mind is much slower than most of my colleagues, and I discovered this when I was in University. I've struggled through my first year and a half as a student, but I developed my way of learning things. I reworked them in my own way and things like that allowed me to get results despite having a slow working mind. So I advise students to find their own way, to experiment to master knowledge and to find their own ways to succeed, because we are all different. We can all succeed in different ways.” Kip Thorne, 2017 Nobel Prize winner in Physics
Disheartening to see such low views on something such as this gem. Hat's off to these minds who challenge the frontiers of science to make us better understand the world around us.
Wow. Kip Thorne is such a great professor. Extremely smart, yet humble, and he also does not take all credit, but underscores the importance of the collaborative efforts.
Nice to see a celebrated scientist say that helping others via mentoring is one of his greatest joys. Love is the best experience in life. It only is possible in the company of others.
Absolutely enchanted with Professor Thorne. Thumbs up for this interview. I'm a undergrad and aspire to be a physicist too. Good to see successful people on this field.
Such clear thinking as expressed by Kip Thorne comes from the hard work needed to be a top level physicist. What a great mind ….able to explain crazy concepts liked warped space time in a logical visual way just leaves me humbled. Thank you!
It’s amazing to see whether time is speaking to space or vice- versa through the mouth of a Nobel Laureate , who worked on black hole so vastly to make all of us proud of him ! Really, a Wizard of Human Vision for betterment of Humanity ! All thanks and tributes to his legacy for enjoyment of his life !
I read his book 'Blackholes and Timewarps' and was very inspiring since it explained his career and what great mind Mr Thorne has. It has been excellent to see him gain more recognition for all the work he has done.l
It's amazing when such a great mind is combined with such a gentle personality. This video is very inspirational and touching. The last minutes just made me cry. I'm a wimp.
1 2 3 infinity by george gamow is a wonderful book which covers a wide range of concepts from math to atsronomy physics chemistry and more in a lavish language
I wanted to ask that what will be a good scientist or a genuine science teacher reaction if a 14 year old kid asks him that what is light ?? At the age 14 we all know that light is made up of particles known as quanta. Will that question be a crime ?? Or asking this question and getting a answer that is as simple as question requires a prerequisite requirement ??
Strange the Nobel committee has awarded the prize for physics based on the so-called BLACK HOLE . The existence of this object is based on a singularity, a region of infinite density -- lies at the heart of each black hole, according to general relativity, the modern theory of gravity. The infinite nature of singularities means that space and time as we know them cease to exist there. The very existence of a singularity, would violate every known laws of physics and yet they have awarded the prize to this non-resolved enigma. I can't help but to conclude that the scientific community has become an institute of consensus and not science.
We have conclusively proven the existence of black holes with an infrared image. Even the existence of a supermassive black hole at the centre of the galaxy, Sagittarius A*
In a world of so many bad people, this is one if the true great representatives of our species. I loved this interview!
James Benton kip throne is most good person in this world
Yup: this is what a sane human being looks like.
indeed
I could not have said it better myself 😊 The man is a blessing. Restoring my faith in humanity.

Hat's what? Whose hat?
@@David_Lloyd-Jones He said that hat was off, what's not clear to you?
Such wonderful person is a gift to human kind.

His Book "Gravitation" realize how great Kip throne is. Such a brilliant physicist and Humble person.

Nearly all engineering & scientific endeavors require teams of participants, co-working

21:14 It's so amazing to hear him mentioning Hans zimmer in his collaboration...
Great to see one of my best teachers at Caltech.
Great to hear from you, sir, truly an inspiration
Thanks for putting our ear to the drum of creation, Kip.📚
Amazing.... ✨
That's the challenge and that's the joy.
Kip Thorne is my most favorite physicist
Great story and very inspiring.
Congratulation Proffesor Throne!Admire your success😍🌍🫠
Great interview. Loved it.
Incredible and brilliant professor.

Great interview!
Seems like Mr. Thorne has overcome a minor speech tick he had.
Sir i am inspired from you and want to do someting great in my life.

Sir, you are great

Good job kip

Why do you keep moving the camera in between each question? The editing on this video is almost satirical.

but then I thought , only 3 Nobel laureates (Nobel minds).
i thought the man is sticking tongue out.
What about the President of Mexico? He is the New Nelson Mandela of Latin America
Please don't muddle up a Nobel prize in physics/ mathematics/ chemistry and a Nobel peace prize.

On the theoretical level. But the mathematical & experimental (empirical) data has to make some sense. Maybe it's not always so clear.
We have conclusively proven the existence of black holes with an infrared image. Even the existence of a supermassive black hole at the centre of the galaxy, Sagittarius A*
Time travel is impossible. We can not travel to the past.
What about the future?
No it's not impossible.
According to theory of relativity , time travel is possible towards future.
