Hi Andy I love ALL your reviews, and this one is no different! Great reviews!!! In this case you referred to "area" instead of "volume" a few times. But I am quite convinced that most people realised and therefore understood your review! Great review, I love your reviews!!!
You touched on something important which is "tone" A higher DB with a lower tone will sound quieter to our ears than a lower DB but with a higher tone/pitch.
nice question
Learned somethings new. Again. Your channel is awesome. Please do keep up the fantastic work! Thanks so much.
thank you very much, saved me from great trouble and lots of expenses
Hello Andy, my goodness, I just need to say you are really, very very good (Clarkson level, to me) and a delight to watch. I am an air-gun owner but a very part-time hobbyist, though still love "shooting" in all its forms. Keep going, please, it's thoroughly enjoyable (and informative) watching.

Am just in the process of searching for a silencer and I've just took a screen shot of your data for later scrutiny thanks for the info and sharing I'll no doubt be visiting draper soon👍👍👍
Air gun suppressors and powder actuated rifle suppressors are vastly different and aren’t interchangeable . Well maybe the more expensive powder could go on an air rifle but not the other way around.
@@controlledchaos8851 agreed with the comment it’s going on a pcp air rifle so it doesn’t really matter. What matters more it’s effectiveness at suppressing noise..
Hi Andy, saw this when you released it! Should you not consider perhaps making a part two or an update on silencers? would be much appreciated, if you could find the time. Testing the DonnyFL´s, Huma, Fox and all them others new brands that have been popping up during the two year period! Cheers!
Yes be good
I was just about to write the same. I miss the DonnyFL's as they're huge now.
@@wolw66 i guess donny just sponsoring alotof utubers.. making it seem like its huge.. most of them are the same anyways.
@@larsvegas1505 I've got the Hogan Decimeater and the DonnyFL Sumo. DonnyFL are very good, especially if FAC.
Currently using TKO on my .22s. Very lite and effective. Price is right for me also. Always a good experience with service too. Great job on the video.
I've used they a&m silencers for years I've owned the twink and the marksman both amazing build quality and the customer service I had was outstanding thanks for sharing this video I've been saying for a long time about this result a.t.b Andrew
A great video, thank you. I am actually looking at upping my airgun and was researching silencers!
Great test. Thanks for the work you put in.
That's a lot of useful information, good work! Now I have to go and do some price comparisons too and factor that into my decision.
Hi Andy. I just wanted to let you know you are the man. You are my go to for reviews, you are always here for us with a very wide variety of topics. I live in New England across the pond and I wanted to let you know you are the balls. You keep it up and tell mrs. A AR we say hello
Bloody brilliant. Tops marks to the honesty 👏👏👏👏
Someone from TV needs to watch these. Your technique is brilliant.....Yes chaps I'm talking about presentation skills...You could make any subject interesting :)
Great Informative video as always as i was looking to but a huggett or 2 but will now have a re-think
please do a part 2 with comparison on power and accuracy of the pellet at target
Thanks Andy great work as always 🎯
GREAT WORK THANK YOU......
I'm looking for a silencer for my AA S200. So I watched your video twice. I now have a shortlist to work with. Many thanks and keep up the good work.
Very useful! Thanks!
Hi Andy is their going to be a part 2 on accuracy, thanks great vid keep it comming
Great job will have to see if I can find the A&M.
What more can be said. Thanks 🙏 was very informative
This video was useful and informative. Thank you.
It was useful, but I'd really appreciate the same style review in a full power rifle as I live in a unregulated area. Thank you again for everything you do and will do in the future.
🥃cheers🍻
As always excellent and yes very useful
Great job Andy. Enjoyed it.
Excellent! Very useful.
I'm thinking of getting my first PCP rifle. I have found your channel really helpful. Thanks.
Great video!! I have the Weihrauch in .22 caliber and on my fx dreamline compact (which barks without a silencer) it works like a charm, the shots are very quiet!
Many thanks.
Great review. It took a lot of your time for this review Great Job.
Best silencer I ever had was a SAK, light, strong and handsome. The metal internals mean its rimfire friendly too, whereas plastic internals burn and reduce the effect.
Burn, on an airgun?
Yeah that don't sound right
@@atvheads To be fair Stephen had moved on to talk about being 'rimfire friendly' hence powder burner and not conducive to using plastic components.
Who mushc many praise
@atvheadTHINK HE HAD HIS MIND ON HIS 22,S. READ AND SEE. LEARN FOR HAPPY HUNTING. PS. YOUR FUNNY AND CORRECT THOUGH. LMAO. THANK YOU. 😂
Great job from USA. Real world information. Thank you.
the only change I'd like to see is what they sound like down range, say 25 and 50 yards.
Very good, thanks for that
Nice video! Thanks 🙂
Please do more like that with the new scilencers 🙏🙏
Useful. Thanks.
Yes very useful, just purchased a bsa ultra clx,and find like yourself iam saying it, silencers are a mind field as you have just shown, now iam going to watch your vlog on scopes thanks for all your reviews it is much appreciated thank you 👌
great video thank you
Good review thanks .
Great Video and presentation, very useful, much information! Greetings from 🇦🇹!
Very good ! thank you :)
Nice test Andy. Have a great weekend my friend. Regards Rune :)
A very and much needed review. Remember the old saying.... a silencer by any other name would sound the same.
that was awesome!
Well done Andy! A timeless video. I was chuckling listening to all the legalese you added to the video. Ya the crazies who will argue anything or are so annal the need everything nailed down like you were running this through the USA's FDA. It timely for me as I just purchased a silencer for my new Hueben GK1. Its a loud beast that I couldn't shoot in my yard, and that was stressing me out since I live very suburban . You nailed it, my research kept going to bigger is better, yet a balance of what fits the best, looks is a factor too. Size is more of a factor for a pistol to me. The one I purchased is 165mm which makes it look like a KGB agent's pistol. I just could not do anything longer, or thicker.
Just subscribed, great review, and yes, it is useful!
Thanks
Very interesting. I use S.A.K. on my Kral and air arms own on my S510. Both are efficient.
Got the A&M and I've found it better over the the other 3 well known branded ones i own. Internals are very well made and well engineered.
Great review.
It was both interesting and informative.
And most importantly...
Entertaining!!!
Love the humor... Size DOES matter!! Hehehehe
Andy, thanks for this, very interesting. It goes to show that complex internal baffle designs are mostly a gimmick, they may seem impressive but really don't have much effect compared with the overall volume of the silencer. The takeaway for me is; choose one which is well made and as large as is practical for the given application. Cheers
Very usefull.
Hi Andy, I agree with Geko as I am searching for the Holy Grail- my Weihrauch moderator and several very good artisan made alternatives are simply not quiet enough for my back garden rat control efforts. Now there are newer offerings available,so it would be useful to know how , for example, the latest Weihrauch XL compares with the A & M Marksman.
Great review. Do you think the weihrauch would quiet down a Hw30s 10 joules ? Or it won t do anything due to the springer action ?
Which A&M silencer is in the video as they do a few? Cheers
Great video
Hi Andy. Another thoughtful representation of what’s available to us, thanks very much.
The Range Right Silver doesn’t seem to be available though on their website, or do you know if it has changed name and gone to black
I have mid 90s HOGAN silencers fitted to Rapid 7 and an Air Arms S300 , at 12 ftlb all you can hear is the hammer hitting the exhaust valve. The Rapid 7 at 30+ftlb using a 2 3inch barrel is staggeringly quiet, in my humble opinion these moderator's have never been bettered. ...thanks Mr HOGAN.
I say the same thing. You invent it you get to name it. And a flash suppressor is something different as well. Great video.
hi Andy I am 69 years old and I love your very informative videos on youtube. geoff
can you tell me which A&M silncer is it?
*Thank you for the well presented and fair analysis of this batch of silencers, moderators or suppressors. I enjoyed the playful jab at those who are myopically addicted to the archaic and medieval imperial systems of measuring weight and size. Incidentally, I support the metric system ....every inch of the way. Frankly, any 'known' units of measure 'will do nicely' if we know how to convert to the more familiar units. The German Schritte {pace or step} in place of Meters or Yards.... is a rather unknown and definitely archaic one.... because each town, city, region, or village seems to have had their own Schritte {stide, step or "length of a man's pace"}, So, numerous place measure Schritte of differing length to others.... Therefore, with the very old antique German Army rifles having sights regulated or calibrated for bullet drop at distances measured in Schritte.... One is left to wonder... Which Schritte is it ? Or, What is 'this Schritte' ?*
Hi l enjoy your reviews a great deal .great site
Nice data based comparison. I wonder if the results would vary using a 30 ft/lb .22. I know that all would be louder but I suspect the larger=quieter rule would hold.
Thanks!
I wish you had tested a DonnyFL silencer.
Same
I have a Shogun on a .30cal and getting an Emperor V3 next week
I have used DonnyFL products and I was amazed by their effectiveness. It would have been nice to see how they stacked up against the competition!
Who is DonnyFL?
I'm boat to test both emperor & ronin on dragonclaw & hammer but I don't make RUclips videos. It'll probly be on my Instagram?
i am new to shooting and always been told the hugget is the one to go for only if they make them big enough for me now thx was good that Gary
I bought the A&M based on your comparison and I’ve got to say it’s the quietest silencer/suppressor/moderator I’ve ever used.
You were also right about it’s size - it’s a beast and I will only be using it on rifles equipped with a bipod as it’s just too much to control for freehand shots. That said, with a bipod it’s a really potent addition! Thanks for another great video.
Which one did you buy as im looking for one but solware have different ones
Very Helpful! Thanks from a novice
I like your reviews so much... And your perfect prononciation! (i am a french boy😁)
If this is any use to folk , my new Atec wave moddy is much quieter than others I have , and that includes trying it on my .22 and .17 hmr rimfires . It’s relatively cheap too at around £40 . Just posting for info as a suggestion to others . Great informative video as usual Andy !
Just curious as to the internals of each silencer? I've had some with baffles and some with a honeycomb type packing?
Would like to see the wolf silencer in here. Plus technology, baffles, curlers and felt or 3d printed.
Andy I have added a Nelix from A&M to my 12ft/lb Gamo Phox ... it’s silent other than mechanism twang! Look forward to your offering on latest products available 👍😃
Professional video!
Nice review, thank you. I use the Hogan on my .22 rat rifle, I don't think they know anything about what just hit them, and my neighbour hasn't a clue what's going on either. To add weight, not necessarily for the best, I have a sleeve of bicycle inner-tube condomed around the outside of the silencer which I think also detracts from any hint of resonance.
Aar merry Christmas to you and Mrs aar and a prosperous New year
aah nuts i thought you would shoot it and review at the same time anyways great info
Enjoyed the video, tend to agree with in silencers larger works better generally. Made a few while in the Marine Corp and its what I generally found to be true...however I have to say we were only experimenting and were not too serious in how they looked just how they quietened the weapon.
Great review as always.. I have the A&M twink silencer aswell as a Weihrauch and would agree that the A&M was the quieter of the two all be it with a larger size .. Has not affected my group sizes with either .. Thanks for a great and informative vid .. Keep up the good work
Very interesting.
Ive always wanted to make this video myself but could never afford them all to perform the testing.
Its a shame you never had a swift stumpy to test as well as i very much believe that would have also bucked the trend of bigger is quieter.
Either way that was great to watch.
Andy, good job mate, I'll now be looking for an A&M then. Seriously looking.
A point to bear/bare ?? sp.. in mind which will I think enhance your results some what. The noise scale in dB is not a linear scale, so for instance a 10dB, if doubled is not 20dB.. Very confusing I know, but a doubling in sound is in fact a rise of 3dB.
So for 10dB, double the noise is 13dB, for 13dB, double the noise 16dB.
Looking at your quietist and loudest there's a bit more than 12dB difference. The noise has been doubled four times..!!
I think the guys at A&M will be jumping with joy. And so will I be once I've fitted one to my air rifle.. Thanks, Bob.
Hello Andy. Very good and informative comparison. Please could you do a test on the newest Weihrauch XL and XL-K versus same oversized ones, like the Huma 40 etc. (Maybe with a few of the others thrown in)
I have the Hugget and a Donnyfl sumo !!!!! I think the sumo is way better shooting jsb King heavy mk2 at 900 fps
Andy your shows are brilliant.dont worry about the haters and the trolls keep up the good work
Great review, thanks. I would suggest that how loud something sounds depends on how ears respond to frequencies - is it possible that how an animal hears the sound differs to the measuring device (which doesn't discriminate on frequencies)? Your comment about the weihrauch alludes to that as you said you thought it was quieter than it measured and trying some in the shops gave a different perspective to your findings.
Excellent review as always, very surprised that the Hugget wasn’t quieter??? I’m a fan of the Weihrauch myself.
Thanks Andy, i personally own a A/M silencer i think they do a great job, and like you they are only about 25 mins drive away from where i am, thanks again for a great review, Cheers
I own a A&M twink does a very nice job but I recently put it on another gun with a light weight stock and with the weight it does affect the balance of the gun slightly, if they could make one the same size of the twink but lighter for the same price I’d buy it, but I’m not prepared to spend £75 around £45 £55 they would sell like hot cakes.
I've just ordered myself a Kral Puncher Breaker (in ,22) with a silencer (quiet-ener 🙃) also from Kral. Looking forward to hearing (or not) about the results.
Great video. Regarding the difference in what you call the lump on the end of the barrel, you tell your wife it's a "moderator" and your son it's a "silencer."
Yet another great video, thanks for sharing.
Which model A&M silencer was it please?
Yes, model please
A certain pedantic flair. Great seat mate on a long flight.
as always superb .... accurate well presented info... im getting myself up to speed with the design software packages and will play with my 3d printers to see what i can come up with. You always spur on conversation discussion....even good hearted banter. far better than many and damned enretaining.....all this whiles walking the youtube and facebook minefield. From me to you...Thanks!
Finally, a Brit who acknowledges the superiority of the metric system.
Love the vids, high quality, spot on information. I've learned a lot from you and it helped me made some important choices on purchases
Any machines will tell you there are actually 3 metric systems plus decmilizing the inch.... which is the best???
Do I need to match caliber size please? Or will a 22 work the same for a 177.
Great review. Would have liked to see Donny FL in the lineup. Also some video of your field shoot sound test. Maybe an idea for your next test take the audio and decibel readings from down range and shoot into a soft target such as a sand bag. Of course with the sound equipment to the side of the target a few feet. This would cancel out any of the mechanical noise of the shot cycle and this is where the airgun silencers would shine highly. I hope that I may have inspired you with a new video idea that you could make happen. Thank you Andy and have a great day with many blessings from above.
I have tried all sorts over the years.
For me at the minute is the Air Arms Q tec ( not in the test 😈)
How comes you didn't test the air Arms Q Tec silencer
