One more test comparison which is probably most important would be an accuracy / grouping comparison. No good having a quiet gun if it is not accurate due to pellet clipping or air turbulence caused by the silencer.
Keep up the good work 👍

"You have to think about the decibel scale very carefully, because it's a logarithmic scale and it works in a different way to the scale on a ruler, which is a linear scale. On a ruler, a distance of 20cm is twice as long as a distance of 10cm and 30cm is three times as long. But the logarithmic decibel scale goes up in powers of ten: every increase of 10dB on the scale is equivalent to a 10-fold increase in sound intensity (which broadly corresponds with a doubling in loudness). That means a sound of 20dB is 10 times more intense than a sound of 10dB and a 30dB sound is 100 times more intense. A sound of 100dB is actually 1,000,000,000 times more intense than a sound of 10dB and not 10 times as intense", as you might suppose, shamelessly plagiarised from t'internet

Andy it would have been nice to see what it actually looked like on the rifle. As you said in the review people do like customising their rifle and if it offers the same noise reduction as 5 similar silencers then I guess it comes down to the eye of the beholder as to which one looks the best on their rifle. Good informative review as always though so thank you for that.

At 1 meter, the Astille is twice as quiet as the Snipe (3db decrease = 1/2 the noise). That's impressive, and I have to wonder if two extensions would have brought it down to 83 db while reducing the frequency of the report to even more of a 'thump' than a 'crack.' High frequency noise lets us determine the direction, low frequency noise is hard for animals (and us) to locate. I don't think there's much of an internal structure to the DonnyFL, but the Astille is obviously very sophisticated. It would be nice to see you evaluate the Ramus Technologies Trident and the Silent Thunder Ordnance Sarissa, both very highly-engineered air rifle moderators and the Sarissa should be much quieter than anything tested here.
