As a person brand new to air guns, This was a Fantastic video and sure explained a lot. Thank You for your time and for sharing this information, It's pretty insane how many choices and things to take into consideration before purchasing... I am 52 yrs young and cannot wait to purchase my first one! I am still researching, although I am leaning towards the Sig Sauer SP2022 C02 Airsoft 394 FPS... Anyone have one of these? Do you think it's a good starter? Feel free to leave any good recommendations... Thanks ~
In Idaho USA we shoot our Pellet Pistols with over 25 FPE and 600 FPS without the evil LAW DOGS on our backs. But now since the Computers and China Elected Beijing Biden, that may come to a end.
This was an incredibly informative video. I've recently gotten into CO² pistols because ammo price has gone through the roof in the US, especially in my home state of Illinois (no, I DON'T live in Chicago, almost 6 hours south thank God). I purchased a Glock replica shooting 4.5mm/.177 BBs. The company I bought it from sent me a catalog. i had NO IDEA what the hell some of the terminology was. I'm extremely experienced in firearms (6 years in US Marine Corps infantry-combat in Somalia & Iraq) but air pistols are a completely different animal. I paused your video about ⅕ into to subscribe & follow on Facebook. Again, thank you for the info & I'll be watching more videos.
Dear Andy: First, I would like to thank you for all your videos, especially for the one for the “CO2 pistols for beginners”, the air pistol blow back was the definer for me, to buy. It was so clear and instructive that I make my mind as soon it was finish. I am a range shooter, I started shooting in 1976 with a 38Spl, I also own the 1911 in 45 ACP, but the cost of the ammo was high, so I both a 1911 in 22LR, even do the price differed was lower, the 22Lr matches the size and almost the weight in the 45, I reload ammo for the 45 and other handgun calibers that I own. The similarities in the weight and size of the Colt Commander Blow Back system in the Umarex CO2 BB is remarkable. To be honest with you, I never thought in an air gun because, in my mind I always thought it was like a toy. Time changes and minds changes. Thanks to you know I have the respect to the air shooter. Because of the Covid 19 the range is closed, you make it possible for me to practice in my house because I have the same filling of the 22 and the 45. Thanks Again Danny
I am a pistol shooter, primarily for target shooting and have been for some years. But recent events in America have made gun and ammo sales soar through the roof. Thus ammo availability is critically short and I have to husband my supply meaning I don't get to the range as often as I like. I was contemplating air pistols as an adjunct to my traditional shooting. This first basic video was excellent. It was concise, articulate and sans macho language and posturing. I would welcome more along the basics for air pistols, especially CO2 types. Which models are good, better, best, where to buy, how to buy, what to look for and in-home and outdoor targets. Also maintenance and safety are prime as well. Well done Andy keep them coming for your American audience as well!
Andy, so much appreciated your video for beginners . As an old guy just starting out in hobby, your incites into CO2 guns really cleared up a lot. Thanks again for a great video and channel. Tony
I would love to see the two visit each other. Hickock45 in london shooting air pistols and Andy shooting, pistol pistols. Can't go over how many joules of energy? Here, try the SW 500. Andy could show him reloading simulated rounds and Hickock could show him loading some of those Cowboy contest cartridges.
Excellent Video!! I am not a beginner, having been in the sporting word of co2 rifles and pistols for over 10 years, but you raised many valid points and I applaud you for that. Keep up the good works!! Thank you.
Fascinating how things have progressed since I migrated to Australia where air guns are classed as firearms and you need a firearms licence to own any sort of air gun and even if the guns shown here were deactivated (i.e. made inoperable) they would still be illegal to own so be very grateful for your liberties.
A truly one great informative video for beginners. :) Thank you very much for yet another entertaining video! Those 2x 8 round rotary flipstickmagazine airpistols are usually great. Always worked well. Love my CZ P-09. A bit contradictive thing with those is; that even that the rotary tip might be magnetic (for use of BBs) - the magnet only works for those hard steel BBs, but not with the softer lead BBs. And who would want to compromise their rifled barrel with BBs? :) The Umarex Desert Eagle is a good example of how power and blowback can lower your shotcount. My UX Deagle only shoots for about 7 good magazines - and then comes a fast drop to the point of the CO2 cartridge being empty. But all of the positive sides of that pistol makes you not to care at all of that *low shotcount (*compared to many other co2 pistols that is - 7 mags of 8 shots is a decent count in my books).
Andy, many thanks for this beginners guide. Im a shotgun shooter normally. However with the current lockdown, i bought a CO2 pistol for back garden plinking and am enjoying it enormously. I have definitley got the bug. Thanks again for providing us noobs with the relevant info required. I've now subscribed to your channel and am really enjoying the content. Thanks again.

Dude you're awesome. I have exploded view of the gun but it didn't show exactly where the trigger went and the spring. You're so patient. Thank you again. You have a new subscriber
Another cracking video from Andy. Explained for people like me to understand very easily. If only my school teachers had been so good I would have done well at school! Thanks Andy 👍
When I saw the Orange Curd in your fridge, I had to go make toast with marmalade on it. Then I sat happily watching your vid drinking tea and munching on my snack. Cheers
What a charming channel, like the Hickok45 of Airgun's from across the pond. I take my hat off to you sir, you are so very elegant and above all so very very British.
Looking to get into air guns, but as someone who’s been around (real) guns, at 16:01 my heart rattled as you wave that gun pointing it at your head. 😳 I know you’ve checked it’s not loaded and the safety is on, but as this is aimed (no pun intended) at newbie’s, I just thought it important maybe to go through gun safety. 1: Always treat a gun as if its loaded. 2: Never point a gun at anything you don’t want to shoot. 3: Be sure of your target and what’s behind it. 4: keep your finger OFF the trigger until you’ve made the decision to shoot. Great informative video about the guns though. Have subscribed and looking forward to more of your content.
Great tutorial. We are ALWAYS learning and when you think you know everything and get complacent, THATS when mistakes and injuries happen. Always be safe, even with air guns.
Great video... Here is Brazilian that has always loved air guns, since its childhood! Now, as I am approaching my fifties, I rediscovered this passion! And your videos had a lot to do with that! I've watched a bunch of them and liked them all... Congrats on your expertise! It's most appreciated, and of course, most helpful.
Still relevant and teaching rookies in 2021! Most of this was information I had already learned just by owning/shooting the few pistols I have and the things I have osmosed from watching my husband shoot his rifles. That said, I still thoroughly enjoyed this video, did learn a handful of great things (thank you for the ballistics visuals - so helpful!), and if it were still a question of whether or not we want more of this type of video, the answer is a resounding "yes." First time watching your channel; you've earned a new sub from the states!
Thank you ever so much for the very informative content. I've always been fascinated by guns but I've only been looking into this since lockdown started. Usually a lot of terms are thrown around which is very confusing for a beginner. I have subscribed to your channel a few days ago and I have not been disappointed.
8:26 Thats explains why my revolver (like that one (not the black one)) just rolls every second BB round out when I keeps pressing. Or maybe the air aint getting though fast enough.
My first airsoft gun was a 6 shot black 8in revolver and it got me hooked, I’m attempting to get an ak-74u as my first electric assault rifle this Christmas
I had an incident with putting a scope on a CO2 pistol I had. It was just a basic rifle scope and I just wanted to see if I could shoot any better with it as long as it fit the rail, which it did. So I mount the scope. I get it all set up and load the BB, take aim, and about the time I start that long pull on the trigger, I realize that my left hand isn't under the barrel as I anticipated. It was under the scope, with my left index finger directly in front of the barrel at *point* *blank* *range.* By the time I was able to process that thought, the trigger had gone through 90% of it length of pull and there was no stopping what was about to happen. It goes off and straight into my finger, where it resides today. It bled like a stuck pig for a just a few seconds until I wrapped it up and put pressure on it long enough. It was dripping so much it was just about a steady stream. So I grab my finger and squeeze until my buddy brought me a paper towel. Wrapped it up until it stopped, then I put a band-aid on it and we kept shooting...without the stupid scope 🤣 My buddy kept trying to convince me to numb it up with a piece of ice and he'd cut a little slit in my finger above the BB and pop it out like a pimple 🤣🤣🤣 Hahano. Lmfao.
really good but I watched the whole thing just to see if there's an easier way to reload hand air guns like the PFAM98, cuz I'm really old and it hurts my fingers.
Watching your video for beginners as I am to Airgun user, I notice that you place a drop of oil on the tip of Co2 capsule before loading. I have seen this being applied on several other RUclipsr's using different brand types, Pellgun, Venturi MP-5 oil, RWS Chamber lube, Crossman silicone oil, even motor oil SAE30 'non-detergent'. As with Co2 Airguns they come with O-rings with differing applications and use. Hardness and resistance to indentation and chemicals. So in your opinion what is the best all round for C02 Airgun's?
10:18 BB doesn't mean "ball bearing" or "bearing ball." It doesn't even stand for anything. It's based on the American birdshot size, BB. BB sits between B and BBB sizes and is nominally .18" diameter.
Thank you for a great intro. Very much appreciated. Im amazed at your knowledge and enthusiam. I'll buy you a few drinks if we ever meet up. Im a newbie retired and wanted to re-kindle my hobby
This remind anyone else of the courtroom scene in 'A Fish Called Wanda' with John Cleese? I'm waiting for "...and with that my Lord, I rest, my, case..."
Great info! I have a couple of air guns, but I also love in the U.S., so I have lots of actual guns, too. I want to get a few air guns to use in my backyard, eventually, as well. There are a lot of differences between air guns & firearms, so your very informative videos are really helpful! Thanks!!
Thanks so much Andy, it's a mysterious world and yes, occasionally perhaps do "Newby Specials" for ppl new to this magic world (I'm always a Newby for eg heehee yX-D!!) This was very good intro ❤️
Nice video! I'm a beginner, currently my co2 is wasted due to the fact that I didn't know about the oil you add to the cylinder before loading. I hope my seal is not damaged I will go buy the oil and more co2 thanks
@AAROnair One very important aspect not touched in video is trigger system whether trigger moves carousel/drum/pushes ball into barrel or not (spring fed system). This I find extremely important aspect of airgun, because feeding mechanism can make pull extremely hard affecting trigger pull consistency to the point that airgun becomes completely unsuitable for any useful training. Also trigger push to the "wall" and release practice moves carousel/drum and you find yourself on empty part of carousel/drum. I would like reviewers take this aspect and inform audience about feeding mechanism and if gun actually suitable for training, drills, trigger control exercises.
Great review. I’m interested because I can’t afford bullets anymore. And I have two relatives that are scared of guns. So, maybe this would be something we could all do. THanks!

Those 2x 8 round rotary flipstickmagazine airpistols are usually great. Always worked well. Love my CZ P-09. Thank you so much for your professional intro!
Thank you professor :) I was really looking for such a video
10:18 BB doesn't mean "ball bearing" or "bearing ball." It doesn't even stand for anything. It's based on the American birdshot size, BB. BB sits between B and BBB sizes and is nominally .18" diameter.
Thank you for a great intro. Very much appreciated. Im amazed at your knowledge and enthusiam. I'll buy you a few drinks if we ever meet up. Im a newbie retired and wanted to re-kindle my hobby
Really loving your videos. Thanks so much for taking the time to share all this!
This remind anyone else of the courtroom scene in 'A Fish Called Wanda' with John Cleese? I'm waiting for "...and with that my Lord, I rest, my, case..."
loved that movie!
Really great introduction. Thank you from Las Vegas.
Please do more videos like this I love your videos
Great info! I have a couple of air guns, but I also love in the U.S., so I have lots of actual guns, too.
I want to get a few air guns to use in my backyard, eventually, as well.
There are a lot of differences between air guns & firearms, so your very informative videos are really helpful! Thanks!!
You do what in the US?😉
Thanks so much Andy, it's a mysterious world and yes, occasionally perhaps do "Newby Specials" for ppl new to this magic world (I'm always a Newby for eg heehee yX-D!!) This was very good intro ❤️
You can make programs to your hart's content love watching them and enjoy eny thing you produce as I have said glad you are back
A Hart is an animal, surely you meant HEART 💔
Nice. I enjoyed that. Informative and helpful. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
Great review. I’m interested because I can’t afford bullets anymore. And I have two relatives that are scared of guns. So, maybe this would be something we could all do. THanks!
Excellent tutorial.
