@@trenken From a drummers view, I see where you are coming from 100%. But this guy comes from a completely different background/style of music that has a lot more groove and feel. A lot of drummers may not be able to compete with what he is specifically doing for his style. Same goes for Peart. Some people will argue that Buddy Rich was the greatest, and some will argue that plenty others are the greatest. Drumming has evolved into something that both of these drummers don't do. Thomas Lang could probably sit down and play all of Rush' songs beat for beat and same thing with Dave Matthew's Band. But it would not sound the same. Thomas Lang is currently one of the biggest heavyweights in the drumming world right now, but still wouldn't be able to compete with the feel that they are able to lay down on their own music.
@@gallagherdrumsri5411 my issue with carter is as skilled as he is, most of his stuff all sounds the same to me. Not entirely his fault. DMB is not the kind of band that changes styles much. But Rush was constantly changing, so neil also changed so much over the decades. Album to album he was changing. To me that alone makes him a far greater drummer than carter.
As happy as he is playing is as happy as I am watching and listening to him. Then the rest of the band kicks in..... (Cue the Angels). Dang! Also, I don't get why people dislike (hate) The Dave Matthews band? Im a metal head and adore TDMB.

Instead of the predictable pissing contest in every YT comments section when a claim like this is made, instead try moving on with the knowledge that some stranger thinking their favorite drummer is better than yours doesn't do a damn thing to diminish the skills of your favorite drummer. Moreover, odds are pretty high that the two drummers have mutual respect for one another so it's even more pointless to try arguing with someone random person about their personal opinion on which drummer is "better." It's all subjective.
He is certainly the strongest member of this band. And Keith Moon, Ginger Baker, Neil Peart, Jaki Liebezeit, John Bonham, Terry Bozzio, Carl Palmer, Bill Bruford, Phil Collins, Stewart Copeland, Christian Vander, and Michael Shrieve were/are all objectively better drummers than Carter Beauford.

How can some say that Dave screwed up. This song is the laugh for Carter, but the melodies, guitar, lyrics it is all on Dave, and as a Band they are the best to listen to live. They live it and love it.
