I remember the first time I SAW Carter, I was totally captivated. Not because of his playing (that's a total given) but because of how I saw him play. I played drums and up to that point, I never saw anyone else play open handed. That's how I played and all of my drumming heroes played cross handed while now I finally found someone who played like me, giving a lot of inspiration. I just couldn't stop watching how he played and all of the possibilities with that hand set up
This man has the greatest energy ever. Always smiling and absolutely killing it. I miss Boyd bein with them, but they're still my favorite live band ever
His playing is so beautiful. Thank you whoever created this universe for putting Carter here. And thank you Carter for sharing your incredible talents. 🙏🏼 ❤️
Also rewatching this I notice how Carter never settles on a groove, he constantly keeps things changing even on that hats, changing tempo and flares. he's like the most interesting drummer to listen to and watch, jimmi hendrix on drums for sure
I really like his use of the march drumbeat for this song adds a nice complex component to the tune, the breakdown, hi hat chipping and then the re up for the climax...very well stated Mr. Beauford, I'm a fan.
Carter is an advanced robot from the future. How else could he make that shit look so effortless? Dear drummers - Don't fear. We don't want all you to play like this. Those of us in front would get confused and just turn around to watch you with slack jaws. Just keep time and toss in a few tasty fills. That's all we want. That said... Holy Christ get a load of this guy!
I wish I had learned to play drums w/the ride cymbal on my left side.If you're playing the ride with your left hand on the left side of an otherwise right-handed kit, it opens up so many more possibilities for the right hand. There are parts that Carter plays that I would have an enormous difficulty playing simply b/c of where his ride cymbal is & the fact that his left hand is as strong & independent as his right.One part in particular is the bridge,I guess, of the song #41. Listen closely.
Sometimes it makes me want to admire and wonder how we as drummers do what we do, by watching something as superb as someone as this gentleman or Simon Phillips. Check out "Rocks, Pebbles, and Sand" by Stanley Clarke. Makes you want to run out and grab a bass guitar and become more proficient on your instrument of choice...
Who cares ! Listen to his phrasing, Listen to the syncopation on the hi hat This video was awesome. IF YOU CANT TYPE ANYTHING GOOD, PRESS THE POWER BOTTON
Oh come ON! This guy became this amazing because he PRACTICED and made an effort to improve. Not because he came out of the womb playing an 8 piece recording custom.
Jonah Salem Sounds like the original song he keeps playing, it does have some significant changes. Unless you heard something else that I'm missing here?
he didn't, this is actually Carter's playing, I own this Hudson Music DVD, and I can verify that this is 100% Carter-fied, the video quality itself is out of sync, so there may be a miniscule delay between the audio and the video

His playing is so beautiful. Thank you whoever created this universe for putting Carter here. And thank you Carter for sharing your incredible talents. 🙏🏼 ❤️

Carter turns any song into a beautiful math equation
The best to ever do it. Jimi Hendrix of the drums.
He's so good he can record accompanying percussion... at the same time.
OH MY GOD THIS SONG HAS BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR LIKE A WEEK STRAIGHT AND I FINALLY FOUND THE DAMN SONG. IM SO HAPPY.
Man, only if I could be Carter for one day
I really like his use of the march drumbeat for this song adds a nice complex component to the tune, the breakdown, hi hat chipping and then the re up for the climax...very well stated Mr. Beauford, I'm a fan.
hadn't really thought of drums as voices, but its a good idea...think of the mixes we could make. beautiful

Forgot how bad i suck at drums.
@nickl1984
What? This is awesome.. His accenting is superb!
@Alwayzsmilin it could just be that he dosnt like it being so concentrated on the drums. but as for myself i love this :)
@auburn1716trob That noise is from the click track. its a cymbal stand i believe
It's not the video is out of sync! It's just that he's faster than the camera!

My brain is bleeding!
This is my hero! Best there is. I hate Dave Mathews hate!! But love this guy!
Makes sense coming from Metallica man

Hahaha the hi-hat sounds like shakers!
Sou canhoto , mais toco como se fosse um destro , a maior parte do tempo pelo menos ,e me sinto bem assim , sou como ele tbm ^^

@luispnot1 ele é ambidestro
@luispnot1
valeu pela informação.
@luispnot1 ja vi uma entrevista dele dizendo que ele e ambidestro .
Hi hat sounds weird. Who cares !
Listen to his phrasing,
Listen to the syncopation on the hi hat
This video was awesome.
IF YOU CANT TYPE ANYTHING GOOD, PRESS THE POWER BOTTON
anybody know what the name of that thing that made the weird noise at 4:45?
@schmeckendeugler hat u expect from 240p lol
Oh come ON! This guy became this amazing because he PRACTICED and made an effort to improve. Not because he came out of the womb playing an 8 piece recording custom.
Is Carter going scuba diving after this session? I mean, he's wearing a scuba suit so I assume that he is.
240p Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
the sound is not aligned with the video.
Why do the hi hats sound so weird in this video
What does he play at 3:32?
Jonah Salem Sounds like the original song he keeps playing, it does have some significant changes. Unless you heard something else that I'm missing here?
Why would you dub your playing into this vid? To dis-credit him?
he didn't, this is actually Carter's playing, I own this Hudson Music DVD, and I can verify that this is 100% Carter-fied, the video quality itself is out of sync, so there may be a miniscule delay between the audio and the video
Tomasi Akimeta I'm not saying Carter did. The person who uploaded this vid dubbed their playing in it. I also have the dvd.
it doesn't sound like it to me, honestly, unless he stated it in his posting as I don't speak his language
@Kobeownzu81 not at all
ele não é canhoto não...
Did god just for the hell of it decide to embody a human being and rip at drums?
Que porra é essa
