it’s so funny, when ever you hear carter talk about drumming he always mentions other drummers. proves how humble he is.
lol yeah humble "oh yeah john bonhams drum tech handmade my snare" what an absolute flex
Before I knew of Carter, I knew of his drumming being a DMB fan. I could hear something great and different coming from this guy. Having just taken up drums at a retired age and searching out the many avenues to learn I have come to know Mr. Beauford and why he is one of the best. Lots of wisdom and inventiveness in what he does. Great smile as well.
The tour around his kit is awesome and all, and believe me - I wish I'd learned drums in my youth. But the best part of this video is his advice at the end. There's a reason DMB has been around as long as they have - love of the music first and foremost. Everything else just falls into place.
Carter has technical skills, musical skills and his heart and mind respect and love the music firstly. What more could any fellow musician ask for?
Years ago I switched my grip to open hand after watching his instructional video "Under the Table & Drumming. " I kept my drum setup the same as a typical righty. At first it felt so foreign and frustrated me to no end but after I started getting comfortable with it my ambidexterity grew very quickly. Its one of the best decisions I ever made to improve my abilities. To be able to just groove and ride along while toying with the cymbals and hit - hat and being more vocal on toms is so much better. I also don't have to worry about crossing hands over, knocking sticks together. It's just so much better. I also taught all my students to work on this development and they all agreed it was so much more comfortable.
That intro is such a 90’s vibe. Very nostalgic
I loved Carter like 15 years ago when I was starting to really get serious about playing. I really would have loved this video. It seems like it's from the early 2000s so I'm stunned that it isn't until now that I've seen it. Thanks so much for putting this up!
There's so many cool tricks and hacks tat he shows on his drumset. I had no idea that he had a way to signal for an equipment issue. I've heard him talk about the double pedal thing on the left foot, but I had no idea that he had that on the right foot as well. What a phenomenal drummer. One of the best on the planet if not the best.
Top 5 drummers hands down, his open hand is amazing I've seen him play several times and just amazed on his skill set
So cool hearing him talk about his own kit, very rarely have heard him go into depth like this, awesome!
The best drummer in the world, period.
Pff. Na
i agree.. but, saying who "the best" is, when it comes to musical instruments, is so subjective.
No
I’m blown away when he plays right hand lead all hands seem so natural to him
Who me?
browndogjack it was Dominick
browndogjack I’ve been playing drums for 45 years pal
I do recall he is ambidextrous.
@@zeroman614 haha
Brilliant musician and such a personable guy. Carter is an inspiration to so many and it’s obvious why. Great video !
Fantastic! Love Carter and DMB. He displayed true wisdom and a pure love for his craft during this interview and he’s still playing to this day. One of the best to ever hold a pair of sticks.
GREAT GUY...EXTREMELY TALENTED AND GENUINE!!!
brilliant drummer for a great band #davemattewsbandRULES
Brilliant drummer, love the intro on the funny the way it is warm up tour, three minuets on just one stick, hi hat and bass, amazing talent
Such a great drummer.
A great story how he wanted to become a drummer after seeing Buddy Rich when he was 3 I think.
Good advice why to play
I can't begin to describe how much of a boss this guy is.
Brett Blakeway I love this comment
Carter you are awesome thanks for all the great drumming man fellow drummer myself i love playing to your songs have a good holiday
I don't like DMB. Never did. But I listened to them because of this man. Hes that good.
i think that trigger/switch idea is brilliant.
Carter it´s one of the best
BLESSED BY THE GROOVE
Great video. Im thinking late 1990's!? Love Carter. One of my biggest influences.
Would love to see him and Dennis on the same stage. Two of my favorites.
still love his playing!!
Amazing, huge inspiration to me and my playing.
No one beats it like Carter
Mad skills for days!!!!
You work it, and keep going! I think you are the best drummer in the world!
A world class DRUMMER. Best in the business.Hoping to meet you, when you come to buffalo!!
great.. great. stuff!!!!!!!!
Thanks for this video. Great to hear his thoughts on playing and get a behind the scenes tour of his kit. It would sound so hilariously awful if I sat down and tried to play those haha.
I've seen his kit listed with 20"x18" bass drum. He went up to a 22"x16".
Amazing
I could listen to Carter and Neil Peart talk all day. A couple of smart dudes with so much to say.
Nolan the Simmer pun intended? 👍
@@HenryPerez_royal_hp lol
Is that the entire video? I wanna see more. That tour around his kit is awesome.
I would love to see Carter & Neil Peart play together!! My 2 favorite drummers of all time!!
Every f***ing time some a**hole has to chime in with a comment about Neil Peart. Neil Peart sucked balls! He couldn't hold a candle tot the stuff Carter does. Get your Peart fanboy shit out of here!
This story is about Carter, Tony WIlliams, Billy Cobham, Buddy. Peart was a fucking hack!
Respect
You guys should change the title to Carter Beauford kit tour, that was sick...
I wish I had enough rhythm to be a drummer.
What sets me apart is the use of the most fundamental part of playing
Too bad Dave stopped using that Martin.... Best sounding of any of his acoustics no question
joseph sites - it was great but I LOVE the rockbridge guitars
@@ROBTAT2 they do have an amazing, crisp sound. I wasn't a fan of the Taylor's at all.
Incredible footage. Thanks so much. Does anyone know what year this was filmed?
+Mitch based on the length of his hair, I'd say 2000-2001
Carter's hair + Dave's guitar = 2000
But because he explain what is a double-pedal, i might say 1998
what song were they playing in this video?
Back when Carter played Pro-Mark
Can I share this video on my channel? Doesn't seem like copyright content. 🤔
In my opinion he's the greatest of all time, but I know it's subjective.
I always say Buddy Rich is the best drummer of all time because Carter would never admit he's better.
Neil peart
He is still a great drummer, one of the best! Better than me that's for sure 😂🥁
Beautiful dry Rich has inspired many with his skills! And Carter Beauford is one! Outstanding!
What kinda hi-hat set up is that?
Like what ride also?
20” A Custom Projection Ride during this era
Does anybody know what hh that is ?
looks like Z custom hi hats...
Maciej Krzyżyński Cater uses Quick beats
Maciej Krzyżyński this is when he played the z combo series with a k top hat but upside down. Very heavy bottom hat that he put on top and it was very tight and bright
Brian Burk He was using 13" inch z custom dyno beats for a while
A very bright one
What year is this?
I’d say 99 or 2000
Year?
I'd say 2000 or 2001
What song is that @ 1:48
Seek Up!
:x
pourquoi des gants... ?!
+Alain Duffau ...c'est un frileux....il a froid aux mains la plupart du temps!
WTF!! My second favorite drummer has something in common with my favorite (and best of all time) John Bonham!?!?!?
Just watched Dennis doing this the other day: ruclips.net/video/ELv9sYIbT04/видео.html
John Bonham??? Say no more.
As much as he's "looser" with his fast timing than Neil Peart, still...I wonder how much longer he'll be able to drum for...
