This is roughly my 45th time watching this video and I still find new bits in it each time. Today I noticed the moment at 5:00 when the felt falls off the microphone on the high tom and I died. Thanks for everything Harry, you rock
Yeah It is incorrect, since a herta technically starts on the downbeat rather than after. but still good way to connect it to something in terms of how it "should" sound.
I'm classically trained and don't know shit about drumming, and while I always loved hearing Carter play, this has given me new appreciation the master. Your enthusiasm is infectious, too!
OK.. so I've never really heard the Dude Matthews band all that much, but I had to swiftly head over to "The Last Stop" live in Chicago. Aaaaand this video is what I will now clutch, like a giddy teenager for the next month. Holy dudeness ! Dude
Had a chance to meet this fella on a tour I work on, super nice, and very humble! Made my whole day to meet one of my favorite youtubers, I got To take a pick with him too!!!
After 40 years of drumming and now watching your videos I've made the change with my hihat and man has my life changed, bless you brother your an amazing brother also🙏🙏🙏
You are my favorite drummer, cuz I started right then saw you and went left...lol. been having fun since...but some days you and Carter Blow my Mind...love your humility, humor and talent...thank you for sharin with the world!!
Straight, to the point, accurate and definitely NOT a time waster. A solid explanation of a top drummer's moves. Sometimes things have to be slowed down for us non- professionals who need to do similar stuff in the studio and on stage. Cheers.
Easily one of, if not the most, innovative players out there today. Every album is a masterclass in both technique and. more importantly, feel. There is no words to describe Carter's playing, they all fall way too short of capturing the true awesomeness.
Amazing, the ease, the simplicity when YOU do it (hell its so complex!!!!) and YOUR respect of Carter's gift to drumming...love your tunning of the drums! THANKS a BUNCH
Dude I've watched this video like 8 times and I'm still amazed that you can even keep up with Carter, let keep up enough to know so much as to be able to succinctly give 5 themes. Like, I'm impressed with step 1, and this video requires mastery of 8,000 steps
Dude, you rock! Several members of my family play drums (including myself) and we all love Carter. In my opinion there has never been a more skilled drummer, the man is insane and is a creative genius. You are, BY FAR, the best person I have ever seen at attempting his style. You can cover his work very well, and for that, you have my full respect! Keep it up man! And thanks for the vid!
Ever since I saw carter play 41 I havent been on the same. I've been on a journey to learn his technique. I must have watched the video at least 1000 times. I only discovered it about a month ago..m
I had a drummer half as good as you that was super animated and fun to watch play like you are. The only time in my life I've burst into sobbing tears was when he said he was moving back to Colorado. I still have PTSD from it. Love your chops dude. Brilliant drummer and great videos.
I'm a DMB freak myself. This is one of the best videos that was ever uploaded onto RUclips! I love the variety of all the live songs! Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a large spastic child. Thank you for addressing that lead in fill for All Along the Watchtower. I was driving my inner spastic a little crazy trying to count it out. 😉
"There's more to life then crash and ride cymbals" Watching this again. Great video edit too! One of the only drum tutorials I've ever watched the whole way through. Keep making these man - you are a great teacher too! Subscribed !
I friggin' love your videos! Im a 41 yr old weekend warrior in a blues band and I just started taking formal lessons, and your videos are my new after lesson routine to reinforce and see what I can learn, about what I learned in the lesson....when I was learning. Because I never formally learned, which is why I'm now learning!
U are so good as drummer, i love Carter and i love Dave Matthews Band and u play two of my best drum sections, i mean crush and ants marching, great job, u are fantastic
Oh my goodness!!!!! This was absolutely epic haha! Ridiculously hilarious in every way, yet educational at the same time hahaha thanks for posting. Love from the UK 👍😀👍😀
You forgot to mention that he does this all why chewing Bubble Gum and blowing bubbles!!! He was why I saw this master over 35 times. He got me hooked on this band. My favorite shows beside the CP show, 11/09-10/05(could be wrong on the dates) @ MSG. Sat behind the band in the 100's section, clear view of a drum God.Love your videos, this is certainly my favorite !!!!
Make sure to wave to The Carter when Dave introduces him dude! You picked a good time for a show- the tour is heating up... The Lovely Ladies are back after over a decade of silence.
Very nice, Sir. The first 15 years I played a RH kit with LH leading...then my teacher (Grant Menefee) showed me the advantages of playing a RH kit open handed w RH lead. Dig your playing and sense of humor.
Great explanation of the open hand approach. Switching to open hand is TOUGH after years of playing cross handed. i like the freedom that open hand playing gives, but - quite a challenge. Takes serious time in front of the kit for it to even remotely become natural. Thank you for the explanation and the video specific to that. Very helpful.
Open high hat on the downbeat instead of the upbeat as in Two Step and Too Much is a very Carter Beauford thing too, if not all that complicated. Great vids, love all your stuff!
As far as drumming videos go, this is now in my my top 10 most entertaining and informative. Great humor and amazing technique! Well done, Sir, well done!
Love the Carter Beauford collection. I love his drumming as well. He's in my personal top three. 1. George Hurley- the Minutemen 2. Carter Beauford- DMB 3. Mitch Mitchell- Hendrix Carter's high hat work is unmatched.
Well, this makes total sense to me. Being ambidextrous I was always "forced" to play cross over, R handed. Now to undo 25 years of playing after being told, "You don't want to look like a freak do you? Different than other players?" I was too young to say, "Yeah, if I play better!!" Love your videos. Got some homework now! Thanks much. Oh and I have a couple Carter things that were given to me that are cherished so I'm a huge fan of his as well!! He's a monster!!!
Wow...I'm a beginner at drums (just bought a small Roland kit), and a huge DMB fan (Carter Beauford fan, more specifically). This video was awesome and very helpful - thank you for posting it!
Dude. Just found this channel after watching a few dmb videos. I really hope you are using that talent for something more than RUclips videos, I am blown away.
Funny that I find this video on Jan. 1, 2024, lol. Maybe I should include drumming for a new years resolution? Carter is one of my favorites - thanks for breaking down his drumming!
Beauford is my favorite drummer. I learned to drum by listening to him play, not watching. I put on the cd and played along for hours on end. Still my favorite way to learn songs and new fills.
Dude you rock just saw you for the first time here today! I've been playing since 4th grade and am currently 63 you are an inspiration! Keep up the good work just subscribed you rule behind the tubs bro! Can't wait to look at more of your videos you make it look so easy and of course enjoyable! Kevin in Las Vegas
Excellent video! Perfect blend of humor/entertainment, useful information, and talent into your presentation...and you're an excellent drummer in your own right! Thank you for showing how Carter's got more talent in the dirt under his fingernails than most drummers have in their whole body.
Dude!... Epic. Wow. By being able to capture and recrate Carters stuff you have launched yourself into the drumming stratesphere. You rock and your having so much playing I have fun watching. Keep it coming on.
This was REALLY cool man!!! I haven’t really geeked out on Carter since high school but I recently found the Dave Matthews Band Sirius channel and got bittten by the Carter bug once again. I’m glad I discovered this channel and this video really inspired me to get back on Carter and his crazy playing. It’s just too damn bad that you have 65 haters (as of this comment) who realized they’ll never be able to play like this so they decided to give a thumbs down. Keep up the good work man!!
Hey bro. MUCH RESPECT for this video...as a true fan of Carter, you've done some serious homework and are bring out his genius with your attention to his details!! This is helping a lot of ppl bro. Blessings!!!
I came from the future to tell:
Harry met the legend Carter himself!
and... he did!
👍
"Play as many as you can until you land on the one" that's just my philosophy for fills in general
That’s sweet dude!
This is roughly my 45th time watching this video and I still find new bits in it each time. Today I noticed the moment at 5:00 when the felt falls off the microphone on the high tom and I died. Thanks for everything Harry, you rock
*Carter Beauford will go down in history as one of the most innovative drummers of the 21 century*
This is sick. The closest I've ever seen to anyone being able to duplicate Carter's sound and technique.
I used to watch this as a kid and was glad to find it again. Lol so good
Your Caroll of the Bells explanation of hertas is the best educational moment ever. Love your videos!
Except it's wrong.
Yeah It is incorrect, since a herta technically starts on the downbeat rather than after. but still good way to connect it to something in terms of how it "should" sound.
I thought about it all weekend and had to search my subscription list to see who I learned it from. Harry
Thomas Dunne hertas dont have to start on the downbeat. no rudiment does.
@Jason Ward similar to taking 8th note triplets and diddling the first partial :)
How am I just now finding you? I watch Carter video's on the daily and you come out of no where and nail so many songs.
Alex Leight
Yes! Just like the kids who's parents paid for them to go to PIT. Yawn.
Lol... youre epic bro! If Jim Carey was a Drummer... hahaha
Dude
Wow...you're about to step into an incredible world of drumming
Had a chance to meet this fella on a tour I work on, super nice, and very humble! Made my whole day to meet one of my favorite youtubers, I got
To take a pick with him too!!!
After 40 years of drumming and now watching your videos I've made the change with my hihat and man has my life changed, bless you brother your an amazing brother also🙏🙏🙏
Your content is EXCELLENT.
Your delivery is ENTERTAINING.
And your skill is IMPRESSIVE!
Keep up the great work
man, i wish you still made videos, but thanks for the ones you have made
The dude is succeeding in life right now. He’s touring with Hardy
You are my favorite drummer, cuz I started right then saw you and went left...lol. been having fun since...but some days you and Carter Blow my Mind...love your humility, humor and talent...thank you for sharin with the world!!

I've watched this video 30 times and it never gets boring.
Easily one of, if not the most, innovative players out there today. Every album is a masterclass in both technique and. more importantly, feel. There is no words to describe Carter's playing, they all fall way too short of capturing the true awesomeness.

Not a drummer but big DMB fan and LOVE Carter! Just watched this as a random and you rock!!! Great stuff!!!
I’ve watched this many times over years, love this video and Carter’s drumming
Stumbled on this video and your skills are top notch! You could fill his spot almost seamlessly.
You're amazing Harry!!! I love watching you play Carter Beaufort parts... while keeping the humour on!
Dude, you rock!

Besides the man himself this video has been my go to for Carter Beuford material.
The fact you can play any of Carter’s shit just blows my mind. Great stuff
I am a large spastic child. Thank you for addressing that lead in fill for All Along the Watchtower. I was driving my inner spastic a little crazy trying to count it out. 😉
Wow - this is really well done! I like how you are highly skilled, yet aren't taking yourself overly seriously.
"There's more to life then crash and ride cymbals"
Watching this again. Great video edit too! One of the only drum tutorials I've ever watched the whole way through.
Keep making these man - you are a great teacher too!

Nice tips, Harry! I am from Brazil and liked very much the way of your explanations about the peculiarities of Carter Beuford. Congratulations!
Thank you for introducing us to Carter!
6 years since my last comment, and I still love revisiting this video!
Never seen your stuff before. Brilliant, witty, clever, & entertaining. You're a fantastic drummer!
I'm finally going to see him live in April. Also, we miss you dude. Best drum channel to ever.
I friggin' love your videos! Damn dude. Have to agree, you did a badass job not only demonstrating the techniques but also executing them flawlessly. Loved it.
OMG! You are amazing. I wish I could keep up with Carter as much as you are able to.
Harry, man.... You are just amazing.
I just found this channel. I literally cannot stop watching. I didnt know you could hit crack visually. Strong work.
I love this band for so many reasons
So what would be cool to see if Carter had your stuff all over his wall !!!!!!! GREAT JOB!
OHHHHHHHH, its the drummer from Dave Matthew's Band. THANK you.
Love your content brah.
Thanks for the added dimension you bring to drum videos.
Harry, dude, you have skills!!!!! I never heard anything close to Carter like this, NO SHIT

Dude you are the best drummer I've ever seen! DMB is the band for all musicians. Show number 5 coming up in June!
Make sure to wave to The Carter when Dave introduces him dude! You picked a good time for a show- the tour is heating up... The Lovely Ladies are back after over a decade of silence.
Nice drumming! I am addicted to Carter too! Keep posting!
The satirical nature of this is good - and the drumming is great!
Brilliant!
You are very talented.
oh my....you are W.Beauford!!!!!
Best cover i've ever seen.
Harry you seriously rock. Keep up the strong work.
It's so cool that you can play like him but even cooler that you're a prolific drummer
Excellent playing, bro. Love Carter. You're amazing yourself too.
Excellently done. Wow, the best Carter video i've ever seen.
Actually one of the best drum tip/cover videos i've ever seen, honestly. Great job
Thank you. You are great. I am also a Caterfanboy and a hobby drummer. Your channel is really fun. Keep going.....
This is the most entertaining drum channel on youtube

I think I'm more impressed with the fact you played in a sports jacket. Bravo!

Great vids, love all your stuff!
Dude you're so freaking cool... and now I love you almost as much as Carter! Very clever and enjoyable AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND informative!!!
Am I the only one who can't wrap their head around someone wailing on the drums in a sport jacket?!? haha awesome video!
Such an underrated drummer. He plays lefthand lead on right handed kit. Genius
That was great... Carter is definitely a drummer i like listening to. I love playing Trippin' Billies and Two-Step... Keep up the great work...
Awesome drumming and great tones all over!
Great video, as a self taught drummer who relies only on my ears to learn (can't read music) this was very helpful.
I make EDM bangers currently but am a drummer since 2006. Love your videos please don't stop
I was in a dave Matthew's tribute band watching you play makes me want to start one again
As far as drumming videos go, this is now in my my top 10 most entertaining and informative. Great humor and amazing technique! Well done, Sir, well done!

Hi Harry, you're really inspiring. Thanks for sharing what you know.
Loved it! You're incredible on the kit, awesomely distilling Carter's elements, and love the Jim Carey thing goin on!! HAAAA!
I'm not a drummer and I've never heard of Carter, but dude. I'm here.
If you still don’t know Dave Matthews Band check them out now!
