I had a unique and lucky experience back in 1998. DMB played a show at a horse racing track in Upstate NY called Vernon Downs and my uncle was one of the vendors at the show selling just cheap bottled water and some grilled cheese sandwiches. We got everything set up early and I realized the band was coming on stage for their soundcheck. So I talked to my uncle and since we were just waiting around for the show to start later on he told me I could roam a bit. I went right up to the railing and had a front row center show of one to myself before the show ever began. Now they're in the Hall of Fame and that is one of the coolest moments of my teen years.
I had the previlige of meeting him and his family, and they were so nice. He's so down to earth, kind, treat me like one of them. Unforgetable days. A gentleman.
Most memorable concert ever attended was in Central Park 2003, which was filmed for a DVD. An hour before the show a friend mentioned they had tickets but we had class and wouldn't make it. We ditched, hauled ass to Manhattan and made it to a join a sea of fans which ended up being the most insane show you can ask for.
I was in 5th grade when the ants marching music video came out and I've been hooked ever since. It's more than well deserved for them. The talent, emotions, and musicality make this band who they are, which is legendary.
No, Dave. You didn’t screw up anything. Ever. You only made happy accidents, which we’ve been here enjoying for over 30 years. These men are absolute legends
The whole "left-handed" bit that Julia did about Carter at 6:00 is actually a supreme shout out. Open handed is the best way to play drums. Figure it out guys. Stop crossing your arms.
I saw Carter Beauford in an Apple store about a year ago, he was Christmas shopping for his daughter or granddaughter. I went over and introduced myself and he was one of the nicest people you'd ever meet. When they were up and coming, the DMB used to play in Richmond VA quite a bit. I remember asking my friends in northern VA if they'd ever heard of the band, and they said no. I said, you wait, you'll be hearing about them real soon. The band might disagree, but when things happened for them, they seemed to explode overnight.
Cannot say it enough what a fantastic group this is past and present. So much music, stories, and just good times. DMB is one of the top bands in the world and still makes great music and their tours are epic, cheers guys long overdue!
To Boyd Tinsley, it has been a rough past years, hope you are doing better. Congratulations on the induction. Rest yourself on our Lord Jesus and He will make everything better. God bless.
Let's dedicate this gorgeous performance all California burning victims that lost everything 😢😢😢turn back to live, reborn from the own ashes and build up a better future from now on, you are not alone guys ❤🎉❤
I just shake my head and laugh. I lived in that warehouse- 'The Pink Warehouse' and knew him shortly after he moved back. Gives me shivers how we *all* knew how extraordinary he was even then. LeRoi gave me his card (we were both looking for jobs) after we'd had a drink or two at the bar (Miller's)- that was days before he joined the band Thursday nights at Trax! Crazy good times!
I was never a huge fan but I did like their music. But the truth is that their music was everywhere when k was younger and mostly everyone I knew loved them and played them all the time. That being said, certain songs of theirs remind me of great times. The most memorable was Satellite.
Pretty sure Stephan Lessard knew exactly what he was doing at 16 dropping out to be with the band. He didn't need to "go to school" He literally had an older drummer telling him, "Hey prodigy, give me a line and let's do this" I'd trust Carter too in that situation. Like, he found a kid that can keep up with him.
It is funny that he has the same reaction as all of us “we won the popular vote and didn’t get in?? What the hell??” It worked out though because that was the Covid year
How the F? no one in australia knows one DMB song and almost no one knows who they are... How do they get into the RnRHOF not being known internationally?
I’m sorry- Iron Maiden still isn’t in the hall with 133 million records sold, and DMV is like 33 million records sold and goes in first ballot? Fuck no.
I’MM KIDDING!!! Chill! DMB is clearly the best - anytime they are within 100 miles of where I am, I close the gap and experience the magic again like it’s the first time.
Th Groo grux king is smiling from above!!!

Nothing says the college years like DMB and they still sound as great as ever!
This band brings back more memories than I could even think of. Huge part of my life
The memory I have, when they rolled into town in 2004 dumped 800 lbs. Of human waste on the Kenzie st. Bridge ON A SIGHTSEEING BOAT FULL OF PEOPLE!
Ive loved this band for 30 years. So very well deserved!!!!
We love you Dave! It is overwhelming to hear the crowd at this event cheering for them! I’m sure all DMB fans infiltrated this event 😊
I had the previlige of meeting him and his family, and they were so nice. He's so down to earth, kind, treat me like one of them. Unforgetable days.
A gentleman.
Class act from start to finish. Took the entire speech to praise and thank others. Talent and humility like no other. Thanks Dave!
He kinda took a shot at Peter griesar lol
Well played… applause! You never stopped at the stop 🛑 sign! Applause 👏
Live at Luther College is one of the greatest live performances ever recorded.✌
Dave Matthews Band is truly blessed and the greatest of all time. Love you all so much forever. Samantha❤🎉❤

Best show of all time
Very well deserved. How could anyone say no!

Probably one of the best RnR HOF performances of all time. I’m like crying it’s so good lmao. Thanks you DMB!!!!!!
No, Dave. You didn’t screw up anything. Ever. You only made happy accidents, which we’ve been here enjoying for over 30 years. These men are absolute legends
75 shows over 26 years. It’s been amazing ride!! Can’t wait for more
Carter and Neil Peart and two that I hold close to being GOATS incredible drummers!!!!!!
You gotta throw Stewart Copeland in that mix as well.✌
I'm glad they still included Boyd into the official line up for the hall, despite his legal troubles and termination from the band.
The whole "left-handed" bit that Julia did about Carter at 6:00
is actually a supreme shout out. Open handed is the best way to play drums.
Figure it out guys. Stop crossing your arms.
Lucky enough to see DMB in the early club days at the Flood Zone in Richmond VA. Original and so talented with great songs. Well deserved honor.
It was the old Georgetown Bayou for me! 1993! Good times!
I prob have this show on tape. Nice one.
I saw this band open for The Rolling Stones in Ft Worth, TX in 1998, it's about damn time y'all got inducted!
My favourite band since 20 years, waiting for next 20. Fantastic!
The BEST BAND EVER !
Not even close.
Absolutely!! 💯
By that statement alone i know where you're from...;-)
lol
You really putting Dave Matthew’s in front of Zeppelin, quit huffing paint kids
I followed them around for a few summers, traded bootlegs in college, was a Warehouse member.
Carter is the heart.
RIP LeRoi

Was he wearing the gloves? (I hope the answer is yes.)
@@bwhite220 Actually he was and I shook his gloved hand. The gloves were my clue that he was who I thought he was.
@ incredible!
finally! And rest in paradise, LeRoi❤💔
Boyd isn’t dead! It’s LeRoi who passed away in 2008
@ that’s the shittiest autocorrect I have ever and I feel like an asshole now
I’ll never forget May 1995 at the Great Saltair, when they OPENED for Big Head Todd and the Monsters!
Cannot say it enough what a fantastic group this is past and present. So much music, stories, and just good times. DMB is one of the top bands in the world and still makes great music and their tours are epic, cheers guys long overdue!
So happy they got inducted. Top 10 band for sure. One of the best ever live.
To Boyd Tinsley, it has been a rough past years, hope you are doing better. Congratulations on the induction. Rest yourself on our Lord Jesus and He will make everything better. God bless.
Can we shower some extra love for BASSIST❤...

Dave Mathews Band, more power and energy with every beat! Always an Incredible Event in SLC David! Bring Julia with you next time 😊
Favorite Band of all time! Dave is the reason I learned and love acoustic guitar.
Me too I heard some Dave and Tim acoustic and said man I have to learn how to play guitar
Same here
Carter is a legend drummer!!!!!!!!

Carter’s looking great; got on one of those weight loss programs. Dude’s a legend, hope he lives forever.
Long overdue and well deserved. Congratulations to the DMB 👏🏾
I love seeing DMB at the Gorge in George Wa every year!!!
Definitely one of the best bands in the whole world
So FUCKING GOOD.
U did change the world for me,unbelievable ❣️Thank you Julia for saying what I would of liked to have said! So much better than me❣️💙💜💚🩷🦋
I was never a huge fan but I did like their music. But the truth is that their music was everywhere when k was younger and mostly everyone I knew loved them and played them all the time. That being said, certain songs of theirs remind me of great times. The most memorable was Satellite.
Love DMB!!! The fans are drawn to the fact of great music and that real instruments are being played in front of them TBH.
Congratulations Dave Mathews Band !!
Great set !!
That was rad ❤ congratulations
I went to a DMB concert and had best weed ever from a joint being passed around
Well deserved 👏👏 Timeless giants
Sounds and looks great
In my mind Dave has been in the hall of fame for over 25 years. lol
DMB was HIGHSCHOOL! ❤❤❤❤
Pretty sure Stephan Lessard knew exactly what he was doing at 16 dropping out to be with the band.

Criminally underrated rhythm section. Criminally underrated!✌
Tim Reynolds is an absolute legend with the style he plays with. Great player!
Criminally underrated.✌
Hhahahaha @29:30
Thanks Dave! Been a while since I’ve heard some banter!!!!
It is funny that he has the same reaction as all of us “we won the popular vote and didn’t get in?? What the hell??” It worked out though because that was the Covid year
Congrats Dave.
Great band beautiful music
'Bout damn time...RRHOF. 😎🎶🎵
Anybody here ever do those 3 day shows? Camping in Indy smoking & trippin 😁
did the Caravan in 2011 in Chicago.. 3 days of Dave. pretty awesome.
I can't believe this took so long
Dave¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This band has a lot members and they’re all in this performance too
That was great
This performance resembles a Super Bowl and I hope one day they get to play there!
Dave seems different- during his speech. In a very good way. Much more healthy.
Thought the same thing. Can’t put my finger on exactly what it is though
DMB.. DMB.. LOVE IT
Chicago says, "hey!"
Trey the first to speak on the band, and better be the next to get inducted, with his little band from Vermont!
Congrats DMB, well deserved
#VASTANDUP 🖖🏽🖖🏽🖖🏽🖖🏽🖖🏽🖖🏽🖖🏽🖖🏽🖖🏽🖖🏽
DMB 🎉
Yay!!!
25:40 😂 Peter griesar shoutout or slam? “He had bigger plans” lol
Where can i find the part where he speaks about billionaires lunching their rockets
Bring back violin
The hate in this comment section helps me understand how many people listen to msuic but dont like or understand music truly.
25:34
lezzfucking go. duly deserved. 💯💯
don't most inductees have another musician do the intro?
Most of the time, yes. But not always.✌
Kinda odd
We’re running out of bands to induct. Coldplay will be the last one inducted. Today’s bands can’t come out with more than two albums.
Boyd Tinsley should have been inducted and standing on that stage.
Perfetto….
He was mentioned and will receive the award
He is not in the band. He will have his trophy sent to him
@ poor stupid Boyd…. He ruined His life
How the F? no one in australia knows one DMB song and almost no one knows who they are... How do they get into the RnRHOF not being known internationally?
Sold out shows in Australia: 2014, 2019, and 2020…
I don't know what you're talking about. They've played a bunch of sold out dates down under.🤷♂️✌
They sold more tickets in the US for 11 years in a row.
Balls I thought it was Matthew Good Band
Have they sold anything outside US? Thinking of who's not in, i find this a bit head in hands..
lol Dave is from South Africa……. He’s a GOD over there.
DMB is inducted but not the B52s? The RnR hall of fame is indeed a sham.
Love the B52s equally!
I’m sorry- Iron Maiden still isn’t in the hall with 133 million records sold, and DMV is like 33 million records sold and goes in first ballot? Fuck no.
They have been invited many years ago but they declined it and dont want to be involve with the RRHOF
@@MarlonCalfoforothat’s a lie.
@@thomasmalz4111 if it aint then have you seen anyone of them inducted someone or seated in one of the RRHOF?
They've declined induction several times. Just like Dolly Parton declined even being on the ballot several times.✌
This video is f$&ked! As soon as the band starts playing the video starts stopping and starting like it’s buffering but you can still hear the audio.
I though my WiFi was fucked. Glad to know it's the video itself. Thanks for commenting about that.✌
INXS needs to be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame. Best Rock band EVER !
Not the " Best Rock band EVER" IMHO, but should definitely be in.
@@potterforpeace7906 They’re in the Rock and Roll Hall of Mediocrity
DMB is well deserving. But Toto still not being there is criminal.
Not having Boyd there is a joke
Who is this?
I’MM KIDDING!!! Chill! DMB is clearly the best - anytime they are within 100 miles of where I am, I close the gap and experience the magic again like it’s the first time.
LOL did they run out of other people to induct?
huwattttt? they are inducted....
Who?
The dropped frames sucks.
Not the same without Boyd.
Or Leroi, completely agree. Not even close to the originals.🤷♂️✌
And shes just rambling
Daves music with Tim Reynolds’s is the best imo. I can’t really stand them as a full band.
Phish better be next year
Why in the world is julia roberts doing this?
Because she is a friend and a fan?
They couldn’t find any actual musicians that would give a speech buttering up DMB
So happy for DMB….but that speech by J Roberts was just too too long and too forced trying to be funny when it just wasn’t.
It’s phony AF
