Carne Molida con Nopalitos // Ground Beef and Cactus ❤️

- I have many beautiful memories of me helping my mom cut small tender Nopalitos off the big cactus plant we had in our back yard when we were growing up, mom kept it in very good shape because it gave us many cactus pads. My sisters and i sat in the back yard under a big tree and helped my mom remove the spines off the pads, then we washed them well and either diced or sliced them for a delicious meal to come. Nopalitos as we know them are very nutritious and delicious and they are very popular here in South Texas where I was born and raised. Nopalitos can be cooked many different ways and can also be added to cold salads, many people don’t know how delicious they are until they try them. In this recipe of Carne Molida Con Nopalitos you will see how easy they are to prepare. I hope you give this recipe a try. ❤️

I have never cooked nopales. After retirement, we moved to México. This morning the young lady that helps keep my house clean, brought me some fresh nopales from her garden. She has removed the spines. She doesn’t speak English and I’m a beginner Spanish speaker. We have fun trying to communicate. We watched your video. So today, I’m going to make your recipe using the nopales. Thank you for sharing.
I picture your Ron and sister and her husband watching you off camera try that first bite and their mouths watering as they can't wait to dish up!!!!!
Yep! That's how it happened. ❤😂
@@rachelcookswithlove lol!!! I love it!!!
Thank you for sharing. Looks so delicious 😋. Blessings
You're welcome my friend, thank you.❤
Reminds me of my mom she used to make this God rest her soul
Thank you for sharing my friend. ❤
Your family is so lucky! That looks so delicious.
Qué rico! I love nopalitos. They're so good for us, too.
Yes they are! Thank you for your comment my friend. ❤
Oh my, that looks splendid! 🌵💖💝❤️
I used to grow my fruit growing nopales indoors here in Brooklyn (NY) and they were becoming full and large spiny pads. It never occurred to me to cook the pads. I wanted their sweet fruits. 🥰😂😂😂. Now I want to start up a new garden again ... With these lovely nopales.
Thank you ❤️🥰💝 for sharing this fine receta. I hope to make this sometime soon.
Thank you so much for your comment my friend, great idea, enjoy.❤
Hi! When you say fruits, do you mean the fruit on top? I've always been curious as to how they taste and could never come across a cactus plant with the fruit on top but I hear that fruit has a lot of nutrients in itself. 😊
@@tracydee8775
Yes, the fruit comes in colors of light orangy yellow, some in light strawberry color, some in a pale pinkish white color. I think Nopales are special cacti that have many subspecies.
Thank you for replying Lady A. 😊
Thank you for sharing Rachel I’ll be making this tomorrow after I buy some nopales. Looks delicious
Enjoy my friend, thank you so much. ❤
From Austin Tx. I like you cooking, your teaching makes every dish easy to make. We started learning to help cook at 8 years old,
I will be 78 years in June. I was born here, but raised in Calif. Since 15 years old.
4 girls in our family of 8 including our mom and dad. My parents were both very good cooks. Mexican style, made flour tortillas every day. Chili salsa at every meal. Only 3 people in our family eat chili. I so enjoy watching you cook, mostly
all your dishes we learned to cook at home.
I use chili powder in my nopalito's. That's the closest I get to chili.
Hi Rachel. As always you've cooking looks so delicious. I love nopalitos. Muchos abrazos y bendiciones. 💖💖🤗🤗🥰🥰🌼
You have a beautiful home, Rachel! Well.. from what I can see in the background 😊
Can’t wait to try this recipe. Thank you!
You are so welcome, it'll be delicious my friend, thank you.❤
Looks absolutely delicious! Your demeanor reminds me so much of a beloved aunt. Your voice is so sweet and calming.
Thank you so much for your sweet words my friend. ❤
Hi Rachel, I couldn’t believe it when you said you were cooking CACTUS! I’m from England and I’m 80 years old and this is the first time I’ve ever heard of a recipe with cactus! I love to try new things but I’m not sure if I can get jars of cactus here, but I would love just to try it at least. Does it taste similar to any other food? Thank you for sharing your recipes with us, I love your kind and friendly way you help us to follow your instructions, and your Ron is a very lucky man. Love from Sandra. X
Thank you so much for your sweet comment Sandra, we love Nopalitos (cactus) it is tender and it is slightly tart in a delicious way and it is traditionally cooked with Mexican chorizo, scrambled eggs, onions and tomatoes, beef, chicken or pork or just simple beans, and enjoyed with corn tortillas. Hugs.❤
Goya products are sold worldwide and they should Carry nopales in jars. They will not be as fresh but will do. You could also buy a small nopal plant and grow it yourself. I could eat that everyday.
How do you use fresh cactus?
@@doreenkidd2172 as you saw with Rachel's recipe. You need to boil nopales at least 20 minute's, I add onions (these help with viscous ) whole garlic, salt and dried oregano to taste. After they are tender you throw water and use the cooked nopales like a vegetable. E.g. in scramble eggs, or varied sauces. Some use as salad by adding chopped tomatoes diced green onions and serve cold for summer. This is considered a super food.
@@leonorlizardo9174 but the needles? You eat them too?
I love the way she rolls her eyes around in this video. Your THE BEST
Oh Rachel! Reminds me so much of my Mom. How you make me ache for her. Thank you so much for your delicious recipes and yes, some I have even tried. When I see you eating, I feel kinda of jealous 🤣. LOL 🤣
Aw, thank you for sharing my friend, a hug sent your way...I hope you give this recipe a try. ❤
I’m so excited too try this! If you haven’t tried cactus you’re missing out.
I agree, thank you so much for your comment my friend. ❤
@@rachelcookswithlove love your recipes!
Nopalitos are my husband favorite I make them for him alot and love making them with hamburger meat and in a red sauce like this thank you for sharing this video 🙏❤️😋😋😋😋
Rachel, I made this dish yesterday, 04/27/23, for lunch. I enjoyed making it, because I got to use the molcajete I purchased in Mexico and the guajillo chiles I ordered from Amazon since I couldn't find them locally here in Arkansas. My husband nor I had ever had cactus so we were both anxious to try your recipe. OMG! It was over-the-top delicious!! I served this dish with charro beans, which we both love! Today, while we were eating leftovers for lunch, my husband said it was one of the best dishes I have ever made! Kudos to you, Rachel, for sharing your recipe! I will definitely cook this dish again!! Thank you!
The ultimate comfort food! Just need a rainy day ! It looks delicious!

I love your show! I am from Sanger, Ca 32 miles east of the Fresno/Clovis area. I live in the foothills and it's absolutely gorgeous up there. We had a scare with the flooding and my home was literally an island for a couple days but thank the Lord the flood didn't go any higher and into the house. 😊🙏🏻
My pleasure 😊❤
