    I've had one of these in my E99 7.3 for about 5 years now. Not a single leak or issue to date. Really helped keep my trans right at its normal running temp while going down miles of muddy fishing trails during the 100* summer days. It never over heated, but it would raise up to a heavy tow level. By passed the radiator cooler at first and added an auxiliary cooler infront of the radiator at first, which took about 20* off the rise in temps. Added the Derale between that cooler and trans and it never goes over 160.

    Love all the content in this video, just one thing to be aware of. With a transmission or any closed system with fluid in it that was designed for a certain amount of fluid, adding more capacity does absolutely nothing. All it accomplishes is causing the transmission to take longer to warm up, once that volume of fluid gets up to operating temp it’s all the same. Doesn’t matter if you’ve got 18 quarts or 25+, it’s the same once it gets to operating temp. The cooler is awesome, the aftermarket diff or trans covers are close to worthless especially for the price. There are many videos out there explaining how this works in a technical way that can explain it much better than me.

      It also can extend the drain interval, more fluid means more time until it wears out. But I totally agree on it taking more time and having no real benefit for cooling.

    I used the 6.0 trans cooler on my 97. Oriley’s had it in stock and it bolted right up between the radiator and a/c condenser. When I had Brian at BTS build my trans he also bent up some new lines for me that work perfect with it and look factory. With the 6.0 trans cooler and BTS transmission I haven’t seen it get over 180 degrees.

    Most transmission fluid starts braking down in the 220-250 range. Your temp gauge is in the transmission pan, which is the coolest temp in your whole transmission. Your torque converter creates a ton of heat, it’s constantly slipping and creating heat unless the torque converter is locked. The torque converter temps can be 40 degrees higher while driving around and all the way up to 100 degrees hotter while towing. So if your transmission fluid temp is 200 degrees while towing or racing your transmission temp in the torque converter could be 240-300 degrees. At this point your transmission fluid is breaking down and causing the wear to the clutches and steals in the trans. There are a few good fluids that done start breaking down until 400 degrees.

      This Chanel is using amsoil signature series trans fluid. That is the best transmission fluid you can buy on the market. This fluid is also the coolest running transmission fluid too. It runs anywhere from 10-40° cooler than normal synthetic transmission fluid.

    Energy suspension for your cab bushings. They have a kit with all hardware for under 140 i think. You'll need to make a puller for the original since they are pressed together. A piece of pipe big enough to fit over the bushing a plate with a ⁷/¹⁶ hole in the center and all thread with a washer and nut.

  • @loganrm1994
    @loganrm1994 3 года назад +1

    The hotter atf gets the faster it breaks down. So if you're towing and averaging 210-220F trans temps then you should be changing it at 20-30k miles. If your transmission spends most of its life at ~175 then the fluid should last 100k.
    However, all automatics wear the clutches and steels over time by design, so you really want to be changing fluid and filter intervals depending on how much use your transmission sees. If you have a stock dodge or ford with a 4 speed auto and you mostly use it for transport with occasional towing, you could probably get away with a 50k service interval. However if you have a 600whp truck with a built trans and you're hot rodding it or really just anything that will cause it to shift under high load conditions, then you should probably cut the service interval back to 20k.
    These are all approximate numbers and I would just suggest following the manual or asking an experienced builder.

    So I know on the 6.0 sounds like a similar setup, allow me to clarify what I’m talking about the trans “cooler” in the rad well on the contrary it’s a trans warmer as this video explains a cold transmission is lazy and doesn't operate properly, so to continue to explain ford used the rad to warm the trans to temp in order for it to become functional as soon as possible, then ford also goes and adds a “air to oil” trans cooler for when it gets hot it’s a graceful dance but all you should do is remove the air to oil trans cooler, never the water to trans warmer cause it’ll be a double benefit it’ll use the trans fluid to keep water cooler in turn cooling oil and your good stuff like engine components
