Cori, i was looking for ideas on sled training and I found your video! I started training for lower body strength and acceleration with a sled at a gym. Loving sled work. Thank you for this video. Great sled workout ideas.
I had fun working on the sled for awhile at the Y in Moline, Illinois, but some of the old bastards there got so jealous of me, I laid off of it. But I think I may get back into it again. To hell with them. John C.
Great exercises and form, especially keeping your shoulders in a safe position during movements! I'll have my clients do a one legged bunny hop also for a given count 8, 10, 12, etc... alternating as they go. Another thing we do with the pull and row to further challenge the lower body is to keep the feet, sled, moving during both the concentric and eccentric phases of the row.
Thanks for the video. I was debating whether or not a sled would be useful for my dryland power training. Seeing your sled fighting exercise made me decide to buy one. What a great variation!
Thank you for the video. I got 30 mm plates and power sleds are only available with 50 mm. The kettlebel + TRX is nice, but it can scratch the floor. I like the sandbag or old sport bag + TRX.
I'm 77, I weigh around 130 and I pushed about 700 pounds on a sled (figuring the weight of the sled to be 70 pounds) at the Two Rivers Y in Moline, Illinois Sunday, March 20th. I sent about 20 feet and back. Then I pulled around 810 for maybe 10 steps. I think this might be good, but I don't know. John C.
Lateral movement in basketball is the MOST important movement. I like to do my lateral movement drills uphill while everybody else is doing them on flat ground indoors. But this sled is going to be a great addition.
What would be an ideal amount of floor space needed to perform an effective sled workout? Curious about dimensions as it relates to feasibility of setting up an area from home to perform these including whether or the distance (if too short) is enough to provide an adequate stimulus.
Love this video Cori. We are fortunate to have recently had two turf sled tracks and sleds added in our local gym. I have done the sled pushes before - mostly low sled push. Today, I tried sled "drag-sprinting"! I used a heavy elastic band looped around the front two poles of the sled and around my hips. I started with a light weight, therefore higher speed, then added more weight to do more "power-driving". Great fun! Would this be working the glutes and hamstrings? I felt the quads a lot more when pushing.
I often do some of these exercises in the gym as part of a warm up for 10 minutes up part of my gym routine for circa forty minutes (some I thought of myself, but obviously not original as on this video). Some great ideas to add to my gym regime. I prefer these type of exercises, as I get bored just doing normal weights. Anymore fun ideas, please let me know.
I have a ton of different videos offering variations so definitely scan through other videos for sure if you are looking to refresh your memory or even find new ones. Glad you are enjoying functional training! :-) And I'm sure you had some great original ideas! In fitness, nothing is ever really new, what is important is the way we implement things to get results. :-)
I've been pulling a sled once a week for five years. We pull around an outdoor oval track in soft gravel and I wear barefoot shoes. No more plantar fasciitis. Thickest calves and booty I've ever had. Go Sledding!
Hey! You're an inspiration. Can you tell what type of astro turf this is? We are looking to put some in our basement for sled pushes and that looks really thin and soft but durable. Can you do burpees and planks on it or is it too stiff like most astro turf?
I would pick maybe a couple to use in a workout. Here are some workouts I've done using the sled: redefiningstrength.com/full-body-sled-workout/ redefiningstrength.com/202020-metabolic-workout/
That could be good. I love the sled because it won't keep moving on its own, but hey that sounds like a great way to get some benefit if you don't have a sled. Just don't let it roll back down the hill on you :-P
OK,very good thanks for your wourkouts ,but there aren't more double sled Excercices Sorry English not my mother language But I mean tow persons or more?
May be we can use weight between 2 players like force&resistance And can put the second players on the weights,And one weight raising by4 hands by 2 players while make half squat Sorry for bad English writing but I hope that succeeded in explain the Excercices for you
+Oscar Lee Actually got those from CoreX although if you are looking for a combo Eric at Battlehouse Fitness can basically design whatever you need. He has built a ton of custom pieces for the gym.
Wheres the part of the video where your legs give out and youre gasping for air ;) ? Thanks for the video, was looking for some variations. That sled series looks brutal
bahah that happened after the camera shut off and maybe a bit between moves ;-) And the sled series if my favorite. 5 rounds for a quick KILLER workout!
How can I put all these exercises into one killer workout to target all different parts of my body? Like my arms, chest, core, hamstrings, calves, etc..?
Hi Chris. Wanted to show that the benefits of pushing and pulling even if you don't have an actual sled. Sometimes people will ask how they can do the exercises I post even if they don't have the equipment so I wanted to show options :-)
I have question, which Muscle groups get developed is it useful if i want to run faster (sprinting) i do calisthenics and last time in the gym i noticed a green turf on the ground with that ,,sled" and i tought it was just an Weight holder lmao now i want to train with it. But ill start with the normal Sled Push combined with calisthenics . Greetings from Germany ;)
Hi there! So the sled sprint is a great way to work on power and sprint faster...You just have to keep the weight lighter to start and make sure you are explosive. Keep the distance short and do 3-5 times the rest. You need to make sure you are training speed and not slowness :-) Make sure to work on your glute strength and power too as that will help with your sprinting. Hope that answers your questions! :-)

I've never felt so good about stealing something....great exercises! Going to use this routine on my 'optional/non-scheduled day' workouts.
bahahhahha Steal away! Let me know how it goes!
Oooooh, no way! WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO! I can't WAIT to get back to the gym tomorrow to try some of these! GREAT!

That sled drag for sure can get those glutes firing. And while all will work the legs fully that push vs the drag to get anterior vs posterior more!
how heavy is the sled you are using... most of the push pull sled im seeing online are about 100 lbs?

Depends on the sled you get. But for this one turf

I have absolutely no idea what brand. I ordered it from Battlehouse Fitness. It was originally lacrosse turf.
Brilliant.

damn i always thought sleds were great pieces of equipment but the sled exercises here are awesome
Thanks!
Since I have watched this video multiple times I tried it out at my gym and I believe I am the only one that has done things like these 🤭
Glad you enjoyed them!
AWESOME STUFF!
Cory can you post some sled workouts on your channel I'd like to do some sled workouts?
What are the straps used on the sleds and kettlebells called? I’d like to buy some
About how many feet from the sled to the handles do you have the straps set at?
Hmmm no idea actually.
Great vid. Thank you for sharing. What kind of flooring is that. Looking to do this but don’t know what flooring to buy.
Turf
Where can I buy the same exact harness straps you're using in the video for the sled drag?
On Amazon? They are a suspension trainer Corex
what if i used a old shopping cart and filed it heavy stuff/weights? i also could run it up a hill for resistance if tht helps?
That could be good. I love the sled because it won't keep moving on its own, but hey that sounds like a great way to get some benefit if you don't have a sled. Just don't let it roll back down the hill on you :-P

I got it from Battlehouse Fitness.

its great for leg strength but i seem to strain my left knee doing it
That's not good. You may want to look at then what imbalances you have causing you to perform a movement that strains your knee.
Let me tell you that it works. 😁
What type of handles are these? And where can I get them?
***** Hi Levi. The handles are actually a suspension trainer. That is the CoreX although we also use the Jungle Gym XT straps on it as well!
Very hard
What type of surface is that...Field Turf?
It's turf...I'm not sure if it has a name, but it is a lacrosse turf that you can use cleats on if you wanted.
