That was a great video! We’ve hiked several of those trails you’ve mentioned. My wife is a freelance photographer and writer and she’s taken some beautiful photos along the River Road. Contrabando movie set used to include a small, faux church building that appears in Brooks and Dunn’s music video, My Maria. The building was removed a couple of years ago due to its poor condition.
We’ve traveled Ranch Road 170 many times and it’s a lot of fun when we’ve toured through on our motorcycle. However, we now look forward to taking our truck camper and staying at the dispersed campsites inside Big Bend Ranch State Park.
May God bless you and your family!

It’s truly an amazing park! We visited the movie set after someone mentioned it to us at BBNP. We learned after our visit that they torn down most of the set in 2015. We also learned about a waterfall inside the park and supposedly the largest (tallest) waterfall in the state. We can’t wait to go back and check out the other trails 😊

You will love it and Big Bend Ranch is less crowded than Big Bend National Park.

I want to visit. I live in San Antonio. This would be a full day's drive out, so I would need to find camping spots or motel spots. Camping will need to wait until September. Summertime is too hot for me...especially in a tent.

It’s worth the visit. You can stay in Terlingua or Marfa. The best time to visit this park would be from October-March. There’s no shade and temps can get near 120+ during the summer months. What’s great about this park, it’s the largest state park in Texas. You can visit it multiple times and check out different trails/loops.

This weekend Jo Ann has an event in Presidio but I will make a visit to the Hoodoos and Closed Canyon. Hopefully Closed Canyon will be open. With recent rain in the area Closed Canyon may not be open.

Too many visitors miss this place. It's like a second Big Bend. If Big Bend is the best kept secret of National Parks, Big Bend Ranch may be the best kept secret of State Parks in Texas.

It’s a beautiful park. I think most folks go to Big Bend for the week and think it’s the same park (same views). It even has a waterfall, which we missed on our visit.

@@MrSTravelQuest Hey something just popped up in my feed about "devil's River" up north a bit from Del Rio. I took the que of "Finegan's Springs" to find the area. It's a little over 4 hours for me, but I think I might go today. See you guys there! I'll be the one with a cowboy hat, a cold one, and a fat smile!
