I was gonna say anomaly... Mary Sue can hone her force power because she's Wahmen. Wahmen Noodles. Then she gets training. But then again I guess Jedi don't need training anymore (IE little kid and broom from TLJ).
Movie 1: Anakin is afraid to lose people he loves Movie 2: He dreams his mother dies tries to save her on his own and she dies Movie 3: Anakin dreams about losing padme. He refuses to let her die like his mother. The jedi can't help him. The sith can. So he turns to the dark side to save her and he ends up killing her How is this always so hard for people to get?
Juan Pablo Andueza You mean a lot or majority can't except good change in direction the Prequels were in a step in terms of story but the Sequels weren't
And this is still just scratching the surface because I see alot of complaining about him just turning to the dark side in episode 3. So I would like to add the following reasons: Without padme what would happen to the kids? He was thinking about leaving the jedi after the war. Palpatine was his friend. He had to spy in him. Windu did not trust anakin and he was never hiding it. He was the republic biggest hero but the counsel did not see him as their equal even though they told him he was the chosen one. Obi wan was on a different planet and could not help him. Yoda told him you had to just accept the death of the person he was afraid to lose. He had to go against the jedi code to obey the jedi. They only thing that they ever thought him and he saw them not being loyal to the code. Did I forget any?
Ever since i watched revenge of the prequels i've started to like and appreciate them even more. When people said there was too much CGI i found that argument weak , i like CGI, some scenes are just an orgasm to the eye. Now I've realized that not only is that argument bad, it's entirely pointless because Lucas used a lot of practical effects in the prequels.
@@valysheev You misunderstand the point of these videos. People are allowed to dislike the prequels, but these people have been completely unfair towards them and are fake critics. Half the time they don't know what they're talking about or their videos are "jar jar is annoying" "too much cgi" despite the prequels actually having amazing and revolutionary cgi, or midichlorians ruining the force, which isn't true. These people destroyed Lucas's legacy and made him leave the franchise, hence this being called "Revenge of the Prequels" this is justice.
@@valysheev not really hate, at least for me. I see these videos as something prequel fans have always wanted, I just want people to see the good parts about the prequels and for people to actually respect Lucas as the series, creator, great storyteller, visionary and creative genius he is, or at the very least not treat him like such shit he leaves the franchise. I love these videos for what they do for the prequels and less that they shit on others for it. At least most of the time, cosmonaut is a complete fraud of a critic and I used to actually watch his shit, and not only that he's extremely toxic towards anyone who enjoys the prequels, so in this case he can fuck off.

Expecting everyone to respond to a 10 hour video essay is a bit much. Most of those essays tend to also take things out of context like you the person they are probably responding to did. MauLer for example used 1 entire part of his Dark souls 2 video demolishing Bombers dumb argument by showing the same out of context clip over and over again and using that clip to argue that the AI in Dark souls 2 is horrible.

Cosmo: The characters spell everything out that they’re going to do. Also Cosmo: How can I be expected to know what they’re feeling if they don’t spell it out?
Rustle Anomaly is right: the Prequels are held to standards that the other Star Wars films or most other films aren’t held to. But, the Prequels must always jump a higher bar because Plinkett said they were bad, amiright?
Cosmo: these characters don’t have traits. Qui-Gon: uses the force outside of what a Jedi would. Is ok with gambling. Ok with mind tricking wato for a hyperdrive. Is sassy, compassionate. Never once tries to tell Anakin to get over his mom, something the counsel would want to. Feels fine to threatening watto. admires obi-wan. Respects the gungan chieftain. Obi-Wan: Is eager to jump into action and does the most acrobatics(front flips, jumping kicks etc) has reservations about Qui-Gon’s ways but respects him regardless. Considered Anakin and JarJar pathetic life forms, thus thinking. Is apprently Qui-Gon’s go to pilot, and is good with technology(fixing the underwater speeder, trying to fix the hyperdrive, knows they could be traced if they answer the Naboo senator). Padme: Cleary cares for her people and would rather die than leaving them alone. Willing to spearhead violent operations, not caring about her life, despite being a queen. Is compassionate to all people(statement about slavery on tattoine). Is very pragmatic about Qui-Gon’s gambling. Willing to do the dirty work(or clean up R2) becomes depressed when she can’t do anything for her people. Anakin: Fearful. Good with tech. Being born on a sad planet sets up his dislike for sand. Is very trusting( of a 6ft man he just met). Sees the good in life. Promises to come back for his mother. Showcases tons of love for his mother, Padme and an endearing respect for Qui-Gon. Apologizes to Qui-Gon for being not good enough to pass the Jedi counsel(if I remember correctly) illustrating his self doubt. Being a good pilot and speed racer(???? Speeder racer?) Darth Maul: Cold, machine like. Silent. A hunter. Motivated by revenge. Prideful. Not all traits need to be told to the audience via clunky expositional dialogue like in Shane Black’s predator. Showing is much more valuable than telling in Cinema, regarding you watch the movie to try and understand rather than watching it to just harp and make fun of.
A lot of this is simply actions characters took, and also stuff that was explained outside of the main story. Watching the movies exclusively wouldn’t give that much detail
Genesis Vira Trait definition: “distinguishing quality or characteristic, typically one belonging to a person or character”. All of the things I pointed out (admittedly excluding some of Qui-Gon feelings) are characteristics and qualities that belong to their characters, that give us understanding to the type of characters they are outside the scope of “cool goodguy” or “bad badguy”. My fiction writing professor back in freshman year of college told us that “traits are what inform the audience what to expect from a character”. Now, you pointed out that most of the stuff I wrote are just what characters did during the story, (maybe I’m guessing Padme spearheading the attack is a good example of this) and that’s a 100% totally fair point you made and you’re right! I should’ve clarified character’s actions define them, but it can be called back to their traits. Padme was willing to spearhead the strike, and it’s believable because earlier in the movie her qualities(traits) were set up as a monarch who’d much rather die for her people than leave them. In short: Traits payoff character’s actions. Especially in decently written material.
Arius Lamperouge I didn’t really get into star wars expanded universe stuff until the clone war tv show and comics. Outside of that, I’m not well versed in pre and post Phantom Menace expanded universe stuff. I was, like 4 or 5 when it came out. Even as an adult now, I read one legends novel years ago about Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. But even in that, it was keen to point out what we know in the Phantom Menace: Obi-Wan is good with technology and very eager when it comes to confrontations and Qui-Gon is wise and unorthodox. Points that clearly came across in the movie. I’m not sure what the new Disney cannon says about them tho, but I didn’t need a comic book or novel to help me with what I knew about the characters as they came across in the movies(and I really miss that when it comes to the sequels).
He did say that he usually doesn't mind that a villain has simplistic motivations in star wars. But that he just thought it was weird that the prequels try to be more complex than the original movies but at the same time gives the main villain this really generic motivation and goal
No name It’s not a valid argument. He had to have the motivation because that’s where he got to by a new hope. The goal is always simple, it’s how he got there that’s complicated.
No name The prequels aren't the OT though, and they take place in a different era where there are entirely different institutions and organisations at play and different things at stake. Palpatine uses the political apparatus to ascend in powers until he can wipe out the Jedi order and take control of the galactic powers. To present that story you can't just use good guys vs bad guys in space battles. I have no idea why people expect it to be similar to the OT. It's clearly meant to be a different set up that still has similar resonances in some regards to some of the characters or plot/visual elements. But the prequels will be more complicated because of those institutions and organisations, explaining how they work, their weak points, how they were manipulated, and how they failed.
@@Noname-nk5kv His goal is straightforward, not simple: he wants power and wants to rule the galaxy, and wants to destroy the Jedi Order. But actually getting to that in peacetime without everyone seeing him as a villain (in universe) is not at all easy or simple.
@@G0ldbl4e idk dude whats the difference. I didnt say the task of reaching the goal was simple I just pointed out that its a quite simplistic concept of just wanting to be president of space. I dont have much problems with it but you have to admit its a really simpistic goal

EXACTLY. The so called sequels are not the original creator's. George Lucas gave us Star Wars and a story. Furthermore, given that the "sequels" don't even continue the story or form a cohesive part of the saga, then by very definition they aren't even sequels. The only "true" story is what the CREATOR intended. And frankly the prequels were awesome, they told a story and form one wholesome saga. I wish we had seen George's sequels as well.
@@darrellcovello7917 I am inclined to agree. What I'm saying is that IF there are going to be sequels, then the ONLY sequels that should be told, are what the creator wanted. It sounds like George had a wider idea with ideas he seeded in throughout the saga in the prequels and originals. I would be willing to see that, but otherwise I also think the saga is a complete and wonderful story of 6 episodes. I loved Rogue One though. But yes, Episode 1 to 6 are the way to go. Remember this is the same guy who said he couldnt understand the plot of the phantom menace for 20 years I think his intelligence shows which isn't saying much below freezing point IQ
It's so dumb that he(cosmonaut) uses his Twitter poll as supporting evidence. Of course most of your fans are going to agree with you. Their your fans. Plus most people are still Largley misinformed. You should actually be surprised at how many people could explain the plot to you. Only a 18% difference and he acts like it's obviously a confusing plot. Oh, but they're probably lieing right? I like how he throws in that little statement about his fans actually being truthful as if most people had voted the other way they'ed have to be lieing about it.
Big brain time! Please go ahead and explain what makes his audience more likely to think QJ is the main character of Episode 1 compared to other audiences.
The RUclipsr Thor Skywalker does polls right i think. He makes sure to acknowledge that the results will be skewed a bit due to the poll being from his subs and thus from people that will largely agree with his views. But more importantly, he doesn't use it as proof of one view or another, but more as a jumping off point to explore and discuss the topic. He's one of the most infururiatingly civil SW RUclipsrs I've ever seen.
Oh gosh. What Cosmonaut said about dialogue is so stupid. Jedi tend not to talk about emotions explicitly. They show emotion really well without saying how they feel. I dont *love* the prequels, saying your feelings is not *good* writing. I didn't find it extremely fun to watch, but the way Jedi act is totally accurate. Luke is not a traditional Jedi. Anakin tried to be a traditional Jedi. They all waver a little at times to varying degrees. The "Corny energetic performances", of TROS are not performance issues. It's writing and direction. Even the thing he praises about it is a foolishly argued point.
"Jedi are supposed to be emotionless and devoid of humanity" That's what you're basically saying. Meanwhile TCW managed to make all those Jedi interesting
@@dancingvalkyrie they were at war. Their personalities were allowed to change as they had more freedom and became something else entirely. Look at Anakin and Obi-Wan at the beginning of ROTS. They're acting fun and upbeat. They're cool.
@@dancingvalkyrie Thank you for giving credit where it's due, but the Clone Wars Multimedia Project did it first and better than TCW ever did. TCW ruined most of the characters who were efficiently and competently expanded upon in the EU. Characters like Barriss Offee, Asajj Ventress, Quinlan Vos, and General Grievous to name a few. Oh and Ahsoka should've been Plo Koon's padawan, not Anakin's.
One thing about insults: The people who are complaining about the usage of insults don't understand that just because you use an insult, that doesn't automatically make it an ad hominem. If the perceived insult in question actually has some logical basis, then it's actually part of the argument and not a logical fallacy. Ex: This manager is an idiot, he doesn't pay his workers well and doesn't listen to feed-back from the higher-ups. This statement has an insult, yes. But there is a form of logical reasoning behind the insult so it's not an example of the logical fallacy known as ad hominem.
Adding to that, ad hominems take the place of an argument, which is why they're looked down upon. Insults themselves are perfectly fine, if a bit rude. Ad hominem: You are wrong because you are stupid Insult: You are wrong and you are stupid.
I rewatched ep 1 yesterday. It has its issues but holds up fine. The CGI characters for the first time I am noticing it but it is over 20 years old. It still looks good considering its age. "Nothing" else bothered me and I actually noticed new details this time like Jabba has a slave girl while watching the podrace in the same outfit as slave Leia or C3PO holds Anakin's flag at the podrace. Strange that I never noticed that it's front and center amoung other things. Phantom Menace holds up better than attack of the clones to me even though the second half of attack of clones is some of my favorite moments in starwars. However I rewatched AotC as well now a couple days after I left this comment and it holds up better as well, love story isn't well implemented and Anakin's dialogue is awful but that is one part of the story. The second half is my favorite in all of star wars. I love the battle of Geonosis. AofC has my top 2 favorite lines in all of SW being "My legs aren't working, I must need maintenance" and "would you like to buy any deathsticks?"" I do not want to buy any death sticks."
When I first saw The Phantom Menace I immediately understood what's going on. It didn't take me 20 years to figure out the basic premise of a "movie for kids." The prequels are about the fall of the Jedi so of course we're going to see a lot about them. The Jedi are basically space monks and they trained religiously to keep their emotions in check. I'm no monk but I know that keeping calm during stressful situations is essential.
I'm always looking forward to seeing a new episode of "Revenge of the Prequels". It just feels like justice. So many people jumped on this god damned band wagon of hating these movies, now its time to call them out on their bs.
@@redpillfreedom6692 and that is your right to do so. You can dislike a movie without straight up bullshitting reasons for why you hate it. When you do that its 1000% okay to do so and we just disagree on something
@18:14 "Even when they are planning the final battle, they don't care." Excuse me? He deliberately didn't show the Jedi trying to talk the queen out of her risky plan. "This is not a good idea." "I can only protect you. I can't fight a war for you." "There is a danger that many Gungans will be killed." "There's an even bigger danger: if the viceroy escapes your highness, he will return with another droid army." Captain Panaka is the most pessamistic character in the film. Since the beginning, he always had something negative to say or to add. He was the one who said the droid army was larger and stronger than they thought. Side note, I've always interpreted this scene to be a reference to the story in the book of Joshua where the Hebrews send spies into the Canaan, and the spies bring back the news that the land is filled with giants and there is no hope of taking the promised land.
I've watched the sequels, was left feeling meh and would never want to rewatch. The prequels I loved since first watching as a kid and rewatch them often I honestly don't get why people hated them.
7:14 What's he talking about saying "this looks like vomit"? How does that look like vomit in any way? I could understand if he was showing the Geonosian droid foundry maybe, but I don't see anything ugly about the CGI for Coruscant or the Clone Troopers. Would seeing this in context help explain this?
I'm not a big fan of the droid factory scene but I don't think it looks bad, maybe a little dark but that's only at the start with the Geonosians coming out of the walls. Even then it's like that because otherwise it would make Padmé look like an idiot for not noticing. People complain about the prequels looking bad but the OT had some equally bad looking special effects as well (not the special editions, like the scene with Han and Lando in ROTJ) but no it's bad now because it's not practical practical effects when in a lot of cases CGI is harder to create and requires more skill.
If i showed more context it wouldve actually made the fucker look worse i cut it short because he had john williams music blasting the whole time Fun fact: droid foundry scene was filmed in 4 hours and improvised
@@VinVonVoom You're talking about the scene where Han and Lando are in the rebel hangar bay right? Yeah you have to be blind to not notice it's just a painted picture. Actually it turns out they got a little lazy with some of the effects in Ep5&6. And let's be real, while I do love the speeder chase scene in Ep6 on Endor, but for anyone to say those effects still hold up vs The Prequel effects...get the fuck outta here.
@@Deuteromis That's what I was talking about, yes. To add to what I was saying before, while I prefer Lapti Nek, the puppet they had for the singer looked really bad. I think there's a place for both. I do wish they do special editions again just to redo some greenscreens and make the stop motion smoother. I think the OT still looks fantastic given when it's from and generally still holds up but sometimes they get it wrong. The prequels have the same problem and I'm sure people will look at the sequels similarly. I think the prequels look great and are on par with the originals visually.
Late as I am, and obviously I'm no Van Gogh or Leonardo but that guy missed the point of such a shot. In art most times you have a focus or starting point to view an image. The obvious focus of this image is the Clone Army stretching out into the vast distance. Adding nosense in the background like CGI lizards(EP 4) and random ships would take away from the focus of this image. Also the way the shot of the army is positioned at attention at an angle is reminiscent of army propaganda posters. The blank space more often than not filled with words to motivate those to either support or join the cause and fight against the Separatists and save the blahblahblah. Seeing as they are in war times that would be the ideal time to promote this type of stuff.
Palpatine's plans make perfect sense, he doesn't lay out his plans like a Bond villian, you have to pay close attention or watch the film multiple times. I love Phantom Mentance upon my rewatch, I was surprised I really liked young Anakin as I usually hate child actors but I thought he did a good job and the writing was good. It shows his good-natured spirit helping others and the farewell with his mum was really well done.
ultimateblaze23 I rewatched it a few times and kept an eye on his performance, found nothing wrong with it, and enjoyed it at several points. People just didn't like the idea of non-evil kid Anakin, or kid Anakin in general, which is fine until they blame the film/actors/GL for that.
Palpatine's rise to power is one of my favorite things about the prequels. And the Clone Wars series made it much more complicated and fascinating. I don't get why anyone would dislike it.
@Genesis Vira When exactly do you mean him wanting to kill Padme? If its in Episode 1 than does it go like this Have her sign the contract than kill her to prevent her to talk about the events that happened -> She escaped to Corusant lets make the best out of it and manipulate her into challenge Volorum leadership so I can get into power anyway. In Episode 2 was it than: Assassinate her because she wants to prevent a War which goes against my plans -> assassination failed Okay lets try to salvage the situation by sending her off planet for the duration of the senate talk about raising an Army under the pretense of having to keep her save -> Dooku has to deal with Gunray only wanting to Join the Separates cause if Padme is killed in revenge for the events of episode 1 -> after the Jedi and Clones saw him in Geonosis was he now forced to join the separatist because the other option would have been prison rendering his earlier want for revenge a moot point. IN Episode 3 had he no real interest into her other than that her destined death was pushing Anakin into his arms via the hope of preventing it. I hope this explains it to you.
@@shuyuwang6122 The Clone Wars series actually fucked up a lot of the Star Wars canon. For example, both Yoda and Obi-Wan were basically TOLD what would happen in Revenge of the Sith and yet they somehow didn't see Order 66 coming. We also have Dooku battling Anakin and Obi-Wan every other week, yet Anakin claims that his powers had doubled since the last time they met, strongly implying that the last time they duelled was on Geonosis rather than a few weeks ago. Grievous fought Obi-Wan countless times, yet still felt the need to tell him that he was trained by Dooku in Revenge of the Sith. And of course, Darth Maul died in The Phantom Menace and the fact that he's one of the best characters in the Clone Wars doesn't alter the fact that he should never have been there in the first place. Thankfully, Ahsoka didn't fuck up too much Star Wars lore. I also liked the chips in the clones heads and Fives' death is, for me, the most heartbreaking moment in the entire Star Wars canon. The Clone Wars is much more messy than its fans like to think but there's some good stuff in it.
1: cosmonaut has such a punchable voice and face 2: cosmonaut does the exact same thing the people who defend him do. Cherry pick out of context examples to further his point and act as if that wins him the argument 3: at the 11-ish minute mark, cosmonaut says that the characters don't talk about how they feel. While it is done in the film, contrary to his point, most of the character interactions are done with subtlety, how they say stuff and the facial expressions, instead of them blandly stating "this is how I feel" (it's done a couple of time, but only to convey information between characters, instead of to the audience *cough, the last jedi, cough*). I'm willing to bet that, had they had more scenes like this, he'd be complaining that the characters speak what they feel rather than show us.
Indeed i haven't seen people more divided than the prequel haters. One says Lucas can't do the 'show don't tell' thing while another says he doesn't understand what's going on or how people feel because it's not directly told to him.
SurvivorDude120 I’m pretty sure Cosmonaut has also said how he doesn’t like it when characters explain how they feel in other reviews. "A commitment not easily broken." I personally love the backwards dialogue in the prequels. People take issue with it because they are taking it too literally instead of trying to interpret the words from the characters point of view and how they talk. I think Obi Wan means that it shouldn't be easy to break a commitment because if it is easy for you then you're not a good Jedi. And that if you easily break commitments, then you make it hard on yourself in the situation you're in, and strain other social commitments.

I'm glad you keep the intro, I learn more about how you think with direct insights and a simple video opening that shows the sequence of events that led to Star Wars writing dying.
9:50 onward Marcus is oversimplifying everything to make it sound dumb instead of specifically explaining why this is a problem. *When critiquing a video game, movies, or books, you never want to do this because it's very incompetent and lazy.*
This guy made the video: return of the jedi sucks (my favourite)... and "why is right to like the force awakens (the worst sw movie in my opinion) so what does he like about sw? Ep 4 and 5... and the sequels?
“It took 20 years for me to figure out the plot” So this proof that you don’t pay attention to the film and decide to complain. There is literally a essay of words to explain what’s going on IN EVERY STAR WARS MOVIE TO EXIST
I am so sick of people hating on the prequels. I haven't heard any good arguments except I don't like them. Which is fine argument but won't sway anyone's opinion.
Are you serious? Or are you just dumb? There’s a million reasons why these movies are bad. The writing is bad. The acting is mediocre. And the plots are confusing
I appreciate the clarification about the intro. The problem is it's difficult to tell that it's just an intro which I'm sure has confused a number of people, myself included. A number of times I thought I was watching an upload that I've already seen. Also I absolutely hate having to repeatedly listen to that asinine "Lucas r*ped my childhood" song. A simple text overlay notification at the beginning of your videos indicating where the intro ends & the commentary begins would be helpful.
Regarding Obi Wan in phantom menace you can see his character traits being that he uphold the jedi code with conviction while also being snarky and sassy guy phrases like "You were right master negotiation were short." and "Why do i sense that we picked up another pathetic life form."
Please go after HelloGreedo. He's a total shill. He only started "respecting the prequels" after he started losing thousands of subbers after his "I liked TLJ" video.
i perfer the prequils over the disney trilogy any day atleast with the prequils u dont have to ask why this and how come u can do that now george lucas is sadly missed with star wars
1) You're intro is epic every time I see it! 2) Throughout this video, I've noticed a pattern that prequel-haters seem to be unable to understand subtle things. 3) Cosmonaut's arguments were so insipid I am genuinely considering making my own response video.
The prequel hate without a doubt stems from how unlike the originals they were. It's eerie to say the least. And shit like that is very easy to pander to, which is why Disney did it. "Look! The set is real! Look at how these crystal foxes adds to the MYTHOS!"
Cosmonaut needs to open his fucking eyes to both the prequels AND THE SEQUELS!!! The sequels especially, THAT TRILOGY IS AWFUL COSMONAUT!!! DON’T @ ME!
Thanks to your videos I actually love the prequels now it’s because of videos like this I lost brain cells and didn’t realize these arguments are mostly pretty dumb. Thanks I am now a prequel lover. Love your channel and keep it up!
Prequel haters love Porgs and fucking space horsies! Prequel haters either have or want purple hair! Prequel haters love story's that make no sense along with them loving plotholes! Prequel haters love fucking SAND especially when it gets in the crack of their asses!
As a prequel fan, I will admit that AOTC is my least favorite of the PT, and I do believe the bad somewhat outweighs the good for this particular movie (don't fret, I still give it a 5/10). But literally EVERY SINGLE CRITICISM I have heard towards the film is superficial and pointed in the wrong direction. Cosmonaut is no exception. All the points he makes are directed at the GOOD parts of the movie instead of the actually bad parts, and the thing about AOTC is that when it's good, *_it's good._* Ignoring that for the sake of pushing the hate train is awful critiquing and essay writing.
When my own family argued Rey was cool because she had to ‘figure out the force’ instead of any training from either Jedi or Sith...I stopped arguing after that because I then realized that some people will truly not care about the rules regardless of their reasoning. Since then I’ve fallen back on objective facts
to the protagonist debate: I think you do not necersairly even need a single (or a group of) protagonists in a story and it is very much possible to also shift the protagonist within a movie. Take "Psycho" by Alfred Hitchcock for example where our supposed protagonost, the woman, (SPOILER) is suddenly killed midway through the movie in that infamous shower scene. Now you could argue, well Norman Bates was the protagonist all along but he is also only shown midway through the movie sooo.... does it actually matter that much?
TalkingBenson It doesn't. I actually really liked the floating POV where "important" characters can be in the background sometimes (before coming to the fore), Phantom has. I wish GL hadn't had to change his story due to criticism. I still wonder what he planned with Jar Jar.
Really love this series. Thank you so much for doing this and actually putting in the work needed to make a coherent series based on argument instead of just spitting vitriol for 20 minutes and calling it a day like most of those "prequels sux, here's why" videos. As someone who started with the OT, I really loved the prequels and still do. For me they aren't just great movies on their own but they also made me enjoy/appreciate the OT much more since the world- and character-building they provide elevates the OT from a simple but great "good vs evil" story to a much more involved and interesting conflict. They give you a scale on how big the empire actually is, show you that Sheev isn't just an evil overlord but has actually a lot of support from the senate. There is also an explanation for how he got said support, namely by exposing the "weakness" of the republic bureaucracy and then, once in charge, "saving" it from a war that actually got fought out even in orbit of the galactic capital, restoring peace and prosperity, which also shows us why the Rebellion has so much trouble recruiting people prior to the destruction of Alderaan. The characters in particular get so much better. And not just Anakin/Vader which is obvious but also the motivation and reasoning behind the behaviour and dialogue for Obi-Wan, Yoda and even Sheev himself get much more depth and meaning when you know where they came from and what they've been through. Sorry for the WoT. Keep up the good work
The sub scene is equivalent to beeing in space. These guys are not only trainerd Jedi's, they live in a world were focus and calmness are needed to survive. We still don't know how we send people to mars, not only because we can't overcome the technical stuff. It's also because we know that we freak out in that environment, risking the whole mission.
What this boils down to is prequel haters hate the story and thrive on the action. The prequels fleshed out the universe and gave meaning to the OT. Thats why they like disney garbage, all action and no substance. I grew up on the OT and love the prequels. They are different, but no less important. I dont understand fans that love one and hate the other since they compliment each other so well. But thats what i can think of, they just love the action and superficial stuff and likely have little to no interest in the EU beyond the action games
HERETIC GAMER447 you can like the eu all you want I don’t care. But the main reason why many people consider themselves fans of the films isn’t necessarily the lore, they just like good films. Many care about the characters in Star Wars because they’re well presented as interesting and likeable in film and or television. How many people care about Darth Vader because of legend comic #78, his core arc is in the original six Star Wars films and to a further extent the clone wars show. Any extra eu is just supplementary material, and whilst they expand the saga they’re not essential to the saga storyline
HERETIC GAMER447 empire strikes back for example is fun, engaging, existing, intense and it has great character development and dynamics. I don’t need to know backstory extensive backstory every background alien or planet to fully experience that film or to consider myself a fan of it
"our communication disruption could mean only one thing: invasion" makes perfect sense when 12 3km wide, armed to the teeth cargo freighters known to carry armed forces onboard are in orbit and suddemly oops no communications.
Wait a minute! This guy couldn't understand the plot of the movie? ! That is hilarious. It is not Brasil! It is Star Wars, you have to be a idiot not to get the plot 😂😂😂😂
I love your videos. Qui-Gon Jinn is the epitome of what all Jedi should be. And Anakin being in the palace he needed to be there to prove how powerful he is to the Jedi by destroying the Trade Federation ship. The Phantom Menace is like a fine wine it gets better and better with age! It dose work as its only movie. All I can say is this movie, Hell as the PT movies are UNDERRATED MASTERPIECES!!!!
Complains about nobody talking about their feelings. Complains about Anakin spilling his guts like a very troubled, desperate and possibly crazy young man. SUDDENLY it's a problem because he's not cool like Darth Vader.
I genuinely believe most people who hate on TPM just haven't watched it recently, and have had their opinions informed by video essays. I watched it on Monday and it's a great movie. Jar Jar is not annoying, I love Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, and Anakin and Padme have a cute little friendship. The senate scenes are nowhere near as long or boring as people like to say - the political talk is only in a few short scenes, and they tell you a lot about Palpatine as a character, as well as showing the corruption in the Republic, and Padme's relative helplessness. Yes, some of the dialogue in the prequels is clunky, and they possibly could have had one more slight rewrite (the plots are fine, just some dialogue is a bit verbose and could be condensed), but they're fine films and a great addition to the Star Wars saga.
1000% masterpiece of a video. I have to say, I’ve watched lots of cosmonauts videos, and many of them I like, but these prequel ones are nonsense and you have done a great job dissecting them thus far. I was literally 9 years old when I first saw this and I understood exactly what was happening from the very beginning to the very end. Cosmonaut literally admits he is a moron and couldn’t figure it out for 20 years when it was insanely simple. A planet is being invaded for trade control, a corrupt evil senator is manipulating the events for his own power and control, the two hero Jedi’s are MASTERS of their trade, trained to be 100% in control of their emotions and reason. They meet a boy with scary natural ability and his early life as a slave proves too dangerous to attempt to be trained even so young because of where he came from and how he grew up (even though I always felt like it would have been a much safer bet to try to train him than let him be fucked worse by the universe and only be trained by 1 master, even further creating a strong attachment to only 1 person at a time), and then the master Jedi’s are challenged by a master of the evil sith as they attempt to take the planet back from the invaders, the main hero dies, leaving us with the younger characters we know from the original trilogy. You said it perfectly when you asked cosmonaut how embarrassed he should be admitting he has been too stupid for 20 years to figure out such simple points of a movie. He doesn’t have to like the movie but every argument he makes is just a moronic anger unjustified because he is too dumb to know what’s going on and instead derps his way through it and ends it halfway. He is exactly what’s wrong with most of prequel critics, although there are actual better critics out there with better arguments, but most are moronic like cosmonauts. It’s clear that all he cares about is pandering to people’s hate of the prequels while making a meme filled derpy-derp watchable video pretending to know what he’s talking about while simultaneously admitting he has watched it for 20 years being too stupid to understand any of it even though it’s explained perfectly from the very first title crawl. He put zero effort into his prequel videos and it was equal to a modern 14 year old watching it for the first time without paying attention to any of it, instead memeing online the whole time and then making a quick of a response video as possible pandering to the haters. While you are the equivalent to a person with an actual brain who can follow a movie from start to finish without being distracted every 5 minutes and missing 20 minutes at a time and ending the movie halfway. That’s why there are morons attacking your videos while they also admit they can’t even watch for 40 minutes because they’re too stupid, yet also stupid enough to think they know what they’re talking about to attack you on the videos you made that they didn’t watch. It’s so painful knowing how many morons are out there like that. You on the other hand, watched the entire video (like I have) and you took everything cosmonaut said and you analyzed it and studied it and did research to make sure you weren’t making mistakes, and you found the truth and made logical counter arguments for each, explaining the truth and where he made his mistakes and why he is wrong and gave proof with examples for each argument. Yet countless morons won’t watch 5 seconds of your great video, they’ll instead stay true to their stupidity and just attack your videos without watching any of it, admitting they are too stupid to handle a 40 minute video, yet still pretending they know everything. This world is full of complete morons, thank you for being one of the few people who actually makes use of your brain. I know it’s hard but I hope you continue to put such a great effort into these videos, this one was a flawless response to a popular RUclipsr who put zero effort into prequel hate videos just for likes he knew it would gain, all just moronic anger with no logic and no understanding and no research into what he’s talking about. I appreciate your prequel response videos so much as you put such great effort into them, you use your brain and you have done a gear job so far, best wishes for the future and thank you for putting your time and your brain into it.
I don't think he understands (tries to avoid it for his video) that normal can mean monks. Monks are normal. They exist in everyday life. They do not speak like thugs, or a corporation suit or like a guy speaking with his girlfriend. In order for the characters to project a characteristic they will speak like a stereotypical monk. Normal humans do not need to say what they feel in every situation. They do it based on situation and personality. Heck, saying what you feel like that is breaking the "show don't tell" rule most of this critics are fond of.
Some people can’t understand that you can like the prequels and see it’s faults. In my opinion if the base story is good and the world building and lore is good I’m set for the most part. I find it fascinating and I really couldn’t care if someone thought there was too much CG.
After rewatching this for the fourth time, I just realized something: Obi Wan (and even Qui Gon) are indeed nervous rushing the blockade...so maybe that’s the reason Obi Wan doesn’t like flying in 2 and says it’s for droids in 3.😂
You know, Anomaly, my brain must be wired differently, because I like all the Star Wars movies, (or at the very least, I think they’re ok) and was surprised at the level of hate at the sequels. But like you said, it’s ok to like (or not like) whatever form of media you want. I appreciate your critique of Cosmonaut and the sequels.

Movie 1: Anakin is afraid to lose people he loves
Movie 2: He dreams his mother dies tries to save her on his own and she dies
Movie 3: Anakin dreams about losing padme. He refuses to let her die like his mother. The jedi can't help him. The sith can. So he turns to the dark side to save her and he ends up killing her

And this is still just scratching the surface because I see alot of complaining about him just turning to the dark side in episode 3. So I would like to add the following reasons:
Without padme what would happen to the kids?
He was thinking about leaving the jedi after the war.
Palpatine was his friend.
He had to spy in him.
Windu did not trust anakin and he was never hiding it.
He was the republic biggest hero but the counsel did not see him as their equal even though they told him he was the chosen one.
Obi wan was on a different planet and could not help him.
Yoda told him you had to just accept the death of the person he was afraid to lose.
He had to go against the jedi code to obey the jedi. They only thing that they ever thought him and he saw them not being loyal to the code.

This entire series is what people who like the prequels need
Ever since i watched revenge of the prequels i've started to like and appreciate them even more.
When people said there was too much CGI i found that argument weak , i like CGI, some scenes are just an orgasm to the eye.
Now I've realized that not only is that argument bad, it's entirely pointless because Lucas used a lot of practical effects in the prequels.
Yeah a way to validate there opinions through more hate..why cant everyone just be nice to each other
@@valysheev You misunderstand the point of these videos.
@@bonbon8899 I get it...but hate and revenge are not the way..

MauLer for example used 1 entire part of his Dark souls 2 video demolishing Bombers dumb argument by showing the same out of context clip over and over again and using that clip to argue that the AI in Dark souls 2 is horrible.

@@MasterSanders Good to see you! I love your conversations with Praise of Folly!
Ori Samsonov Appreciate it, man!
Speeder racer?)
Darth Maul: Cold, machine like. Silent. A hunter. Motivated by revenge. Prideful.
Not all traits need to be told to the audience via clunky expositional dialogue like in Shane Black’s predator. Showing is much more valuable than telling in Cinema, regarding you watch the movie to try and understand rather than watching it to just harp and make fun of.
@Genesis Vira kindly explain the difference in detail good sir
He says that about literally every film he reviews it's fucking annoying.
Cosmonaut: Star Wars should be simple.
Also Cosmonaut: Sidious’s goal is too simple.
And yet people actually take this man seriously.

The prequels are more original and imaginative than anyone’s actual “critique” of them.
Besides maybe The Unusual Suspect.
The sequels were entirely unnecessary. The story ended perfectly, with Anakin fulfilling the prophecy and bringing balance to the force.
Wish we'd seen George's sequels though.
@HERETIC GAMER447 I would like to see George Lucas' actual sequels so we have the creator's saga. This type of casting:
ORGINAL HEROES (Luke, Leia, Han, Lando, the droids) - original cast
FORCE GHOSTS (Yoda, Obi Wan, Anakin, Qui Gon and other prequel Jedi like Windu and Aayla) - original cast. For Obi Wan, do CGI of Alec Guiness voiced by Ewan Mcgregor

Mara Jade Skywalker - Gal Gadot

BILLIONAIRE ALLIANCE ALLIES: Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Kristen Kreuk
IMPERIAL REMNANT:

And is cosmo like legit dumb? People aren't mad because that Jet Trooper scene from TROS is like Marvel, it's because Stormtroopers (and Sith and Manda Bounty Hunters whom seem to be based off of) have flown since.... Well forever. TROS has had so many cuts and re-shoots it's impossibly paced.
It being Marvel-like (the whole movie was really) is just icing on the ass cake.
@@shadowwhowalk I was talking about the other guy, not Anomaly. I edited to make it clear. Sorry for that.
@@corruptangel6793 Yeah, he's pretty good with that stuff.
didn't anomaly use a poll to support the a point he made in this video
I find the acting in the sequels to be good but the script nah.
"Jedi are supposed to be emotionless and devoid of humanity"
That's what you're basically saying.
It’s also just funny. At least to me. Makes the video less serious and dry
Adding to that, ad hominems take the place of an argument, which is why they're looked down upon. Insults themselves are perfectly fine, if a bit rude.
Ad hominem: You are wrong because you are stupid
Insult: You are wrong and you are stupid.
Also the fact hes australian makes it 10x better
It didn't take me 20 years to figure out the basic premise of a "movie for kids."
The prequels are about the fall of the Jedi so of course we're going to see a lot about them. The Jedi are basically space monks and they trained religiously to keep their emotions in check. I'm no monk but I know that keeping calm during stressful situations is essential.
Dare ka Phantom Menace out of all the prequels has the most simple plot out of all 3.
I'm always looking forward to seeing a new episode of "Revenge of the Prequels". It just feels like justice. So many people jumped on this god damned band wagon of hating these movies, now its time to call them out on their bs.
Also, the guy responding is Australian. I think. That just makes a response ten times better, you can’t disagree.
Funny - though some people are jumping on hating the sequels. Is that not a bandwagon? I wonder.
I didn't jump on any bandwagon. I hated them since I saw Phantom Menace in the theater when I was 10.

I can't fight a war for you." "There is a danger that many Gungans will be killed." "There's an even bigger danger: if the viceroy escapes your highness, he will return with another droid army."
Captain Panaka is the most pessamistic character in the film.

What's he talking about saying "this looks like vomit"?
If i showed more context it wouldve actually made the fucker look worse i cut it short because he had john williams music blasting the whole time
Fun fact: droid foundry scene was filmed in 4 hours and improvised
If its in Episode 1 than does it go like this
Have her sign the contract than kill her to prevent her to talk about the events that happened -> She escaped to Corusant lets make the best out of it and manipulate her into challenge Volorum leadership so I can get into power anyway.
In Episode 2 was it than:
Assassinate her because she wants to prevent a War which goes against my plans -> assassination failed Okay lets try to salvage the situation by sending her off planet for the duration of the senate talk about raising an Army under the pretense of having to keep her save -> Dooku has to deal with Gunray only wanting to Join the Separates cause if Padme is killed in revenge for the events of episode 1 -> after the Jedi and Clones saw him in Geonosis was he now forced to join the separatist because the other option would have been prison rendering his earlier want for revenge a moot point.
IN Episode 3 had he no real interest into her other than that her destined death was pushing Anakin into his arms via the hope of preventing it.
I hope this explains it to you.
Ryno Behnke i must ask. How did palpatine know she wanted to prevent the war if no one even knew that it was starting.

1st five minutes of the 1st movie: "I have a bad feeling about this master."
Hahaha didnt think of that
1: cosmonaut has such a punchable voice and face
2: cosmonaut does the exact same thing the people who defend him do. Cherry pick out of context examples to further his point and act as if that wins him the argument
3: at the 11-ish minute mark, cosmonaut says that the characters don't talk about how they feel.

Since then I’ve fallen back on objective facts
to the protagonist debate: I think you do not necersairly even need a single (or a group of) protagonists in
a story and it is very much possible to also shift the protagonist within a movie. Take "Psycho" by Alfred Hitchcock
for example where our supposed protagonost, the woman, (SPOILER) is suddenly killed midway through the movie in that
infamous shower scene. Now you could argue, well Norman Bates was the protagonist all along but he is also only shown
midway through the movie sooo.... does it actually matter that much?
TalkingBenson It doesn't. I actually really liked the floating POV where "important" characters can be in the background sometimes (before coming to the fore), Phantom has.
I wish GL hadn't had to change his story due to criticism. I still wonder what he planned with Jar Jar.
The curb stomping continues.
Keep up the good work
19:50 wow most of his fanboys didn't understand the movie? Imagine my shock.
but. but. but 10,000 retards can't all be wrong......
*I am one of the 12% who voted for Jar Jar. I regret nothing. Jar Jar's character is an underrated masterpiece.*
🤣
What this boils down to is prequel haters hate the story and thrive on the action. The prequels fleshed out the universe and gave meaning to the OT. Thats why they like disney garbage, all action and no substance. I grew up on the OT and love the prequels. They are different, but no less important. I dont understand fans that love one and hate the other since they compliment each other so well. But thats what i can think of, they just love the action and superficial stuff and likely have little to no interest in the EU beyond the action games
I can see that.
Why is it bad to not care about the eXpAnDeD uNiVeRsE outside of the films, what if you just like watching good movies
I don’t need to know backstory extensive backstory every background alien or planet to fully experience that film or to consider myself a fan of it
HERETIC GAMER447 Star Wars is a movie, if I like it then I’m a fan of it by definition
This gave me some of the hardiest laughs I’ve ever had! You, my good sir, have the sharpest tongue in the galaxy!
Glad You Enjoyed
@@zacharyp6980 Correct.
It takes a lot for a Jedi to lose their emotions. It's kinda thier thing.
It’s time baby!
It's obvious that disney paid the critic to badmouth the prequels in order to protect the disney sequels
Some people can’t understand that you can like the prequels and see it’s faults. In my opinion if the base story is good and the world building and lore is good I’m set for the most part. I find it fascinating and I really couldn’t care if someone thought there was too much CG.
After rewatching this for the fourth time, I just realized something: Obi Wan (and even Qui Gon) are indeed nervous rushing the blockade...so maybe that’s the reason Obi Wan doesn’t like flying in 2 and says it’s for droids in 3.😂
It looks like Anomaly has become a LongManBad. Well done good sir, well done!!
*Revenge of the Prequels pops up in notifications*
"I've been looking forward to this"
Mauler and Anomaly Inc: A New Hope
Darth Sidious wants to rule the galaxy with absolute power in the prequel, with all his enemies weaken, hiding, or dead.
This isn't rocket science.
Such a underrated channel
