WatchMojo have been on my "Dont' reccomend this channel" for quite some time now, I only remember they still exist when someone messages me that they've stolen one of my scripts.
Didn't they steal actual footage from you? I remember you watermarking clips of that never before seen easter egg, just in case they completely nabbed it, again.
@@davistoa worse than that, they stole my script! Literally copied everything i said in my video and pput it in theirs. If you google "larry bundy watchmojo" you'll find loads about it.
@@Larry Oh jeez. The amazing thing is they think they can get away with it. Then again, who in their right mind even watches them in the first place? I'm surprised there was anybody with a brain keeping tabs on them to even notice.
if all those "fans" would've been less of whining bitches about the prequels (and yes they are but meh films) the Disney transaction probably wouldn't have happend. They can all thank themselves to be honest, cause inderectly, it's the "fans" who killed star wars
I disagree. You can surpass the original creator of something and that happens quite often. We can see with the example of Rowling how once a good writer can go off to a deep end with her Harry Potter series and what came after them.
@@Shadeius I agree in some cases. And there are some that are able to capture the special feeling of Georges star wars. Those in charge of the Mandalorian are doing a fantastic job. When Lucas created Star Wars he had old westerns in mind, and I think that's a massive quality that was lacking in the sequel films. The reason why Mandalorian is doing so good. Because when he did create Star Wars, he wanted to create the next thing that would define generations, because westerns were once the generation defining entertainment, something he grew up with. That is the secrete ingredient for Star Wars, and Disney left that out in my opinion.
We did not need ST to "discover" this. EU quality shows us how rare it was to surpass Lucas. Sorry to say, most stuff wasn t exactly great from a creativity point of view. But hey, there are also some true gems there. My personal favorite is KotOR II by far. There are some authors that do get Star Wars, like Filoni, Luceno, Claudia Grey, Zahn and others.
Yup... he was just someone who wanted to tell a story, a great story as far as I know (PT, OT, Star Wars in general), just like every other passionate creator would want to do.
If I ever had the chance to, I would love to talk to George about what *_Star Wars_* means to him, and even ask him privately (meaning I wouldn't oust him online) what he thinks of what Disney has done with his creation. I would then basically say, "Hey, Bob Iger! Lucas doesn't consider your crap as canon, dude! Burn on Mustafar like the cunt you are!"
It really annoys me when so called "critics" shit on lucas. Years later and I still don't get why people were so mad at Lucas. It was still star wars, unlike the crap we have from disney. The prequels contained copious amounts of star wars goodness.
those ''critics'' shit on lucas, while lucas has created one of the greatest franchises ever made, but they love the remake TFA and the crap TLJ (both 90+ % on RT)
Reek After the critical response to Captain Marvel, Batwoman and Knives Out (RJ’s new film if you don’t know), my 5 year old cousin has more credibility than Rotten Tomatoes
Exactly. If he’d made the PT like OT fans wanted, they would’ve genuinely been some of the worst prequel films ever. Like imagine a prequel to Jurassic park set 30 years before and everything is exactly the same except the protagonist is just Jeff Goldblums characters dad lmao
the only reason i saw the prercuels was cause i did not know about him not being in ep7(yes, i am not informed), and after that only cause of my love to the franchise, but whith disney doing this i can only say... it is treason then... master mouse
I like the prequels. Sure they aren't masterpieces but they're actual stories. "Oh they have so much politics in them that drags it down." "fair enough what do you like though?" "oh Palpatine's rise to power for sure. It was great to see how the emperor took over the empire." "so you hate the politics in the movies, the reason for Palpatine's rise to power, yet you like Palpatine's rise to power?" And George was a major part in and provided direction to the clone wars series. How do you go from "George ruined Star Wars" and then turn around to say "George should have made the prequels like the Clone Wars series." He knew what he was doing. Is he perfect? No, but he had ideas and plans. He had the foresight to understand that adding certain things, like Revan and Bane being in the clone wars series, would be detrimental to the story he wanted to tell. Disney has no foresight like that. They destroyed the universe and the whole storyline and past 6 movies just to try and make more money after The Last Jedi bombed and destroyed the franchise. They revived Sidious, destroying Anakin's character arc, Luke's character arc, the chosen one prophecy, and the whole point of the last movie, and hinted at Revan being canon because they know that they can't do anything creating anything new anymore. So they only want to nostalgia bait to merchandise things they know people will like.
As someone who was a kid when the OT came out, I personally LOVED the Prequels. As far as I'm concerned "The Skywalker Saga" IS EPs.1-6. At least until someone REMAKES the "Sequel Trilogy" into something BETTER!!
Lol yep I went over there and the dislikes are now up to 30,000. The comments are amazing, the way they used quotes from the prequels made me laugh way too much. I love the prequels and many of the characters from it. The haters can say what they want but thanks to it a lot of questions were answered like how Palpatine became Emperor, who was Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker etc. Not to mention Revenge of the sith is one of the darkest movies ever, I mean the jedi were betrayed and brutally gunned down, kids were not spared, the hero became evil and the grand evil plan worked spectacularly with Palpatine becoming the emperor of the Galaxy. Say what you will but I don't think you can find any movie or story like that where evil ruled an entire galaxy for years.
@@neilallen8491 The prequels answers many questions, indeed. And they did that very good IMO. But some ppl already had a story in their mind of who Anakin was or how he turned to the darkside (I watched the PT before OT, I didn't know what would happen to Anakin) so they could never be pleased with what they got.
Did they really make a song where the hook was “George Lucas raped our childhood”? Lmaoo he MADE your childhood, Disney raped it. But hindsight is 20/20 (no pun intended) Episode 3 forever
The song was a joke by making fun of the prequel haters who acted like manchildren. But you're right Disney killed Star Wars and anyone who defends it and bashes the prequels is a retard in my opinion
Isn't it great how these prequel-hating Disney fanboys love to point out how much the prequels use CGI, but they'll never comment on how Disney's garbage is almost entirely CGI? And it somehow ruined the prequels while at the same time isn't even worth mentioning when it comes to Disney's trash? What a bunch of hypocrites! BTW, you're not alone--I've always loved and defended the prequels. And great content Anomaly, keep it coming!
The worse offender are saber duels. You had Ewan and Hayden really learning to do some stuff, and of course we enjoyed Nick Gillard himself in TPM. And it was not about just spectacle, saber stances and styles were a part of dialogue and personaly, because hey this is fantasy & action not drama this is the way characters are described.
@@papaAJ88 did they though? George was innovating with his use of CGI, while it's used now because it's easier and cheaper. George had a vision for how he wanted things to look and it took CGI as well as more practical effects than he ever used in the OT (which is well documented). I will say that CGI can start to look outdated faster than good practical effects. But if you look at other films from the time, I think you'll find the prequels still hold up quite well. And Revenge of the Sith for the most part looks as good as modern CGI, though it's over 15 years old. Anyway, if merely using CGI is enough to ruin a movie for you, I wonder how many films you actually like? And if you just wanted Star Wars to look and feel exactly as it did in the OT, I think you're putting unreasonable limitations on a visionary director.
@@christianschmidt8476 The prequels didn't use sets? You must be a troll. That or you're choosing to ignore the well-documented fact that the prequels used many times more practical effects than the OT. In fact, the director of practical effects (for all 6 Lucas SW) has said in interviews that Ep. III alone used more practical effects than the entire OT.
The most hardcore sequel fans are Lucas haters, they also spin the narrative that George didn't do shit in the OT and his friends and partners fixed his bad ideas but not in the prequels
Bro I know right. I love and accept all movies. There is war on both sides, extreme prequel fans that hate the sequels and extreme sequel fans that hate prequels. I just like them all as a whole, all trilogies have cringe dialogue but it doesn't bother me
@@SkywalkerArts1 hello there, anyway I saw rare occasions of Prequel extremists that sorta dislike the OT, they also spin the narrative that George didn't do shit in those movies as an excuse to make the prequels look superior, I mean I like both OT and prequels
I saw one guy who said "George did so little he might as well not be associated with the franchise" and "the last jedi is better then all the ot films combined as George could not make proper cinema" so George only made the films when it fits the narrative
Star Wars has outgrown George Lucas? Hmmm...let's think. Yes. Star Wars now is more stupid than anything Lucas ever conceived. The writing is worse than anything Lucas ever wrote. The plot holes are bigger than anything that Lucas ever planned. The woke political overlay is far more intense than anything Lucas ever intended.. Overall, Star Wars has outgrown Lucas -- it is outgrown, overgrown, and out of control. It is like a festering sore whose infection is running loose and dousing all the fans with stinking pus. Yes, Star Wars is outgrown and overgrown and disgusting.
Precisely. These immature fools fail to grasp that George Lucas gave us Star Wars. And he always always wrote a STORY. Not like these so called sequels which ruin the story before, have no story within nor any semblance of sense or reason!
@@darkjediknight2923 He should have stuck with rough treatments and production while leaving writing and direction to other people because he sucks terribly at both. Hubris got to him, rivalry with Spielberg to be more precise. He wanted to prove that he can write and direct as well as produce, just like Spielberg, and failed miserably. This whole situation, including selling SW to Disney, is due to his drama queen hubris. Did he HAVE to sell SW to Disney? Did they put a gun to his head? No, he did it himself. A passive aggressive whiny pos.
@@electricdreams8237 He offered the prequels to many people including Spielberg to direct. What can he do if no one wanted to do it? His story is unquestionably visionary. The only adjustments needed were dialogue changes (primarily in AOTC, but frankly I don't think I even noticed anyone talking with Padme in that incredible fireplace outfit), but the STORY was cohesive and there. His story - the creator's vision - is the ONLY story that should have been produced as sequels. AND that is what George Lucas did - he gave his story to be produced by other directors. But these mindless morons in their arrogance threw that out. And to add insult to injury gave us garbage which they artificially added on as official sequels to the saga. No one should be giving thunderous applause to TFA as the sequel to ROTJ. It is the most ridiculous continuation devoid of imagination ever. At least the endless EU stories had some semblance of logic to them and respect for the creator's work.
@@darkjediknight2923 Oh, I agree with all that you said. However, I don't buy the idea that he "couldn't find anyone to direct". Lol, Hollywood is (or at least was) crawling with excellent craftsman directors who could do any job with aplomb. ESB was made by Irvin Kershner, just one such "craftsman" director and it is the best SW movie by far. And ESB was the perfect example of how to do a franchise properly - a genius producer with strong vision for the franchise as such and overseeing it all together giving out the execution of the movie itself to a director who is a master of the cinematic craft but with no ambition to "subvert" the franchise itself with his ideas. TLJ, for example, is the exact opposite of this model and it shows - a producer with no vision at all giving out the execution of the movie to someone who is all "visions" but lacking in raw craft. Dreadful. But then again, I do not question Lucas' vision or his motives in the prequels. I object to the fact that he simply is not a good director or a good writer. On the other hand, perhaps he is, but the strain of having to do essentially two or three jobs on an immense project affected the quality. There is a reason why it is usual and recommended to have separate persons for writer, director and producer roles on a movie project. It is very easy to go off the rails creatively if you don't have other members of the team balancing you out. Again, Lucas should have concentrated solely on production and "big picture" - for something of a star wars trilogy scope that is quite enough of a task for any man.
@@electricdreams8237 I mean from what I've heard, Spielberg declined and told George he should do them. I don't think we can deny that George created Star Wars and he is a story man. I will forever be grateful for him giving us Star Wars. As Anomaly Inc has noted in a video, ESB was directed by someone else, BUT crucially, George himself did a lot of the editing himself. That fact must not be forgotten. And he self funded his movies and went against the entire movie industry (including his filming techniques). Yes I would concur on the strain of doing multiple jobs and not having a second opinion I guess. I mean I'm not saying I wouldn't adjust the dialogue (in AOTC) and some of the choreography. HOWEVER, I find the story itself gripping, engaging and flowing. It also ties together as one overall saga. That is clearly present. I am sure that George's actual sequels (which they should have produced and the only real definitive version of what happens next) would have made sense, and any flaws in dialogue, or otherwise could have been tweaked. However, the so called sequels (Disney's), is not about tweaking to fix it, but wholesale change because there is no semblance of story, no continuity from ROTJ (Indeed it tears down the running storyline), no connection to an overall saga (the Skywalker saga is thrown out of the window in TFA itself) and no backstory etc. And the dialogue in TFA (except for Han Solo) was awful. I did not find Rey or Finn's crass Earth slang particularly inspiring versus the words of Windu, or Alec Guiness, or Yoda, Palpatine, Leia etc in previous films. There is simply no continuation and therein lies the problem. You can't call something a sequel when it isn't one. They obviously didn't want to produce George's story. Instead they wanted to create a random story - but I suspect they knew no one would buy into it, unless they labelled it the sequels to the OT. Think about it logically - had they simulataneously released two Episode 7's, two Episode 8's and two Episode 9's - with one version based on George's story and the other based on TFA, TLJ and TROS... which do you think would have been more accepted and financially successfully? George's would have had a red Twilek Jedi Hunter, the Whills, Skywalker grandchildren, new Jedi trained by Luke Skywalker as per Yoda's wish, Anakin in the story, reunifying the galaxy over 3 episodes etc. Versus... well I can't even tell you what the hell the story is in TFA etc. Not to mention George wasn't tearing his entire storyline down either!
@@Matt90Nine CGI movies do not get old very well. Watch Attack of the Clones today and then watch Return of the Jedi and then tell which effects look better
Mattomic none of the movies you cited used close to the amount of CGI the prequels used, and the prequels went fatter than any of these movies had. As for the CGI in AOTC... 1) why do you compare the last movie of a trilogy, where effects had been used for years and were perfectly mastered, with the second movie of a trilogy, where the effects used were pushing the limits of what was technically feasible at the time ? 2) since when are the kaminoans not CGI marvels ? Even dexter holds up pretty good, and it’s something that couldn’t have been done with practical effects. I would agree with the clones, they are technical marvels for their time, but it was unneeded, and the time and efforts spent doing them would’ve been better used to improve the rest of the effects even more.
Mattomic « and they all hold up » ... wait, what ? Gollum or the cave trolls hold up better than Grievous or Jar Jar ? Seriously ? Also, LOTR came out after the first prequel movie, and benefited from the advances made by ILM. For the comparison of epVI with epII : all right, my bad, should’ve been paying better attention >< Dexter being a puppet : I agree with the face, but overall I don’t think so, having a four armed character move so naturally, not just his body but through a set would’ve been really difficult. And when you’re pushing the limits of CGI (which as far as I know 2001 didn’t do, nor did the OT, despite both franchise pushing the limits of the technology of their time) it’s inevitable some things will miss, especially if you push them as far as Lucas did. Hell, even in the OT you have misses, like the weird transition from matte paintings to miniature sets in epIV, or the space worm in epV, or Jabba in epVI, far less good looking than in epI, or the sarlacc. Even Yoda is less good as a puppet than as a CGI creation, he moves less organically, doesn’t have near the same level of facial expression, or even just the same freedom of movement, and it shows.
Mattomic « so actually it was made between TPM and AOTC » Which is why I only references the former in my last message on this point -_- « As for Gollum, he was made intentionally to look a little more unreal in order to prevent him from falling into the uncanny valley » Beside the fact that if true, this wouldn’t necessarily be a good idea since Gollum is supposed to be disturbing, I wasn’t talking about what his face looked like, I was talking about the quality of the effect, the manner in which it blends with the practical environment. « But in contrast to TPM, the balrog is the most impressive CGI character in FOTR » Yeah... And so what ? I didn’t say LOTR had only bad effects, overall they are really good and still hold up pretty good, I said that they had less of them. « Objectively, the Baron looks far superior » ... I don’t even know what character that is ^^ And I saw the trilogy not that long ago :/ « I’m aware with Jar Jar they were Lo-capping but that would only excuse his movements being off, not poor rendering » No, that would be explained by how much more CGI TPM used, and the fact that Jar Jar isn’t badly rendered. For your example of special edition Jabba,I agree with you, but that’s actually a terrible example since he was added in a time when the technology wasn’t enough, and superimposed on a footage where Jabba wasn’t there originally, hence you can’t compare the pros and cons correctly since the scene wasn’t made for Jabba to be there in the first place. Again, Yoda would be a far better example, since he was actually intended to be present as a CGI creation in the prequels, and he looks far better than puppet Yoda. Well... Looks, not necessarily, but e is able to do and convey far more than puppet Yoda, thanks to more realistic and diverse facial expressions, more realistic and diverse body movements, etc.
People tend to hate Anakin cause he wasn't smooth like Han Solo but last I checked Han wasn't raised in a cult that outlawed attachment from the age of nine. Hell even in the Clone Wars show He was bad at the romance. That's just how he was but Padme who was also bad at the romance cause she was a career minded politician still loved him. We should all be so lucky. I think if they had made Padme the aggressor in the relationship it would have sold it better. The guys basically a Warrior monk and hot as hell. Padme being the Han in that scenario while he's just innocently trying to protect her would have played.
Right it's not even surprising they fell for each other, both were forced to grow up way to fast, Padme had to become a queen of a whole planet as a 14 year old (she's 5 years older than Anakin) then became the youngest senator in Naboo's history at age 20 Anakin was forced to become a Jedi and he's being told he's gonna save the whole Galaxy Many people will gravitate towards people on the same emotional level Neither had childhoods and never got to be kids The prequel haters don't understand co dependancy physiologically wise
It was from both sides. Padme was pursuing him too considering she straight up moved in with him alone 24/7 on a honeymoon resort and went on many picnic and dinner dates wearing her unforgettable seductive outfits (completely her idea). 🙃
Even though the prequels had some clunky ass moments, they still felt like they had some heart. My favorite line from the series comes from Attack of the clones, for God's sake! *_“You call this a diplomatic solution?”_* _“No, I call it aggressive negotiations!”_
AOTC is my friend's favorite SW movie (yes, she likes it more than ROTS or ESB xD) because she loves the entire final battle and the beginning, some Anakin and Padmé scenes (their wedding is her favorite moment from AOTC) and she likes the idea of clones.
@SpaghettiSpaghetti Neverforghetti exactly Disney star wars just feels so dull, boring, uncreative, lifeless. Just recycled vehicles and no interesting planets. Like how we saw coruscant in the prequels that planet was so cool you just wanted to see more of it nope none of that in the sequels
In the original, the prequels and the Expanded Universe Legends, there's consistent collaboration under George Lucas. Under KK Lucasfilm, there is obviously none of that happening.
Hayden was pretty excellent too. He really captured the descent into darkness perfectly. There were problems with the prequels, no doubt, but the main character casting wasnt one of them. Both of those guys absolutely owned their respective roles. Ewan McGregor IS Obi Wan Kenobi.
@@turdblaster923 yep. Even as bad as his given dialogue is at times, he captures the role excellently. Just look at the scene when Padme tells him she is pregnant. Look at the range of emotions he expresses in 5 or 10 seconds, without saying a word. Its brilliant, especially for such a young actor.
Rewatching the prequels recently, something that occured to me is that I really dislike Natalie Portman (mostly in phantom). Her acting is so emotionless. Just look at the scene where she's trying to rally the gungans. No gestures, no articulation, nothing. Basically reading directly from the script to a brick wall. Other wise (apart from the poop jokes) the prequels are great if you ask me
@@Axelovskji if thats what you read into that scene, you missed the tone entirely. The tone when the real Padme stepped forward was one of prostration and submission: humility and honesty. The gungans aversion to the Naboo came from their belief (whether the case or not) that the Naboo believed themselves superior to the gungans. This was a Naboo queen humbly prostrating herself before the Gungans, begging for assistance.
The thing that really makes me sad about this whole anti Lucas narrative is that it ultimately led to him leaving the franchise. In other words, we will never get Star Wars movies as great as 1-6 again. Ever. Again.
@@Matt90Nine Funny that you reference Citizen Kane, because that very movie had a pretty bad reputation for some years. Only over time did people realize that it was actually better than they had thought. The same may or may not happen with the prequels, but not winning an Oscar hardly changes the inherent quality of the films.
I refuse to believe anything and I mean *anything* of Disney is better than Lucas. In Lucas's films, TV series and books, everything felt like Star Wars. Everything with Disney just feels like a shit fanfiction.

AOTC actually tells a story (Palpatine's rise to power by manipulation Republic and Separatists, Anakin's progression of falling to the Dark Side, start of the Clone Wars), develops characters, shows us real war, new planets, species, ships, droids, world, and has connection with 1 and 3. What ROTS show us? The largest battle in the Clone Wars, deaths of Dooku and Grievous, Kashyyk battle, Anakin's conflict with Jedi and himself, his weakness (save who he loves), which perfectly works with saving Luke, Palpatine's manipulation and rise to power, Order 66, 2 amasing final battles and the creation of Darth Vader and Empire, birth of Luke and Leia, new hope. You can’t say Star Wars is mostly bad when your only talking about the movies. No matter how much the Prequels or Sequels are bad it only takes up 15%. And no matter how superior the OG trilogy is compared to the Prequels and Sequels. Star Wars is a franchise, not a Cinematic Universe like Marvel. The prequels wholesale just get an unreasonable amount of hate. Yet somehow every one (or near every one) of Those people hating them keep singing TLJs praises when its an egregious tearing down of everything before, I just don’t understand.
Sunless Shadow as far as I saw, many if not most SW fans who didn’t like the prequels but were fans of the OT « apologized », so to speak, when TLJ was released.
The prequels are crap. If they weren't crap Lucas would have never sold SW to Disney... which then made even worse movies. There you have it - it is not either or. It is not Lucas vs Disney. They both made crap movies. You don't have to lie to yourself that prequels are now somehow magically good movies in order to dis Disney. Again, Lucas wouldn't have sold SW if they were any good. And Lucas is so overrated that it is sickening. His first wife saved original SW - he wanted Han Solo to be an alien... can you imagine? And Ewoks are straight out of his "imagination". Most of the good stuff in the originals are someone else's idea. He is good at the "big picture" but as an actual actualizer of that picture? Dreadful. He was manageable back in the day while he was young and people still had the balls to tell him off, but with prequels he surrounded himself with yes-men and the results are quite obvious to everyone except rose-tint glasses fanbois. You know what was his true golden age? Lucasarts computer games. And why is that? Because he couldn't program or game design himself so he couldn't screw the games up. Thankfully he just gave the dev teams his "big picture" (which is his true genius) and let other people actually make his these visions real. No such wisdom with prequels where he somehow got it into his head that he can actually write and direct (which he can't).
@@electricdreams8237 okay mate, not sure why you felt to dictate this to me when I find the prequels fine (not amazing, not great but perfectly fine to me, meaning they're not frigging perfect films nor am I gonna suck up to them nor lying to myself, I just appreciate them - though I dislike most of AOTC like most people, I did like parts of that movie which is more than i can say for the current films) and in general really don't care for the new trilogy and its lacklustre story thats now disappointed me twice wholesale post the TFA hype. people can like different things, I just found it ironic is all when arguably the sequels have now wholesale done more damage to the lore and story than Lucas ever did. Lucas also signed them over likely because people were giving him such hatred over it - frankly I wonder why you bothered to fish out my comment thats over two months old when you could have just posted your comment as is, new and fresh and probably got more responses than just my bewilderment.
Electric Dreams « If they weren’t crap Lucas would have never sold SW to Disney » ... yeah, so we’ll completely ignore the fact that he got criticized for years ? I mean, maybe the critics were fair (they weren’t), but it’s still the critics of the prequels, not the prequels’ quality that pushed him to sell to Disney. And what you said is misinformation, not actually true -_- He wasn’t surrounded by yesmen, nor did he want to direct and write, he wanted other people to do it, and the editions of the OT wasn’t made only by his wife, or without his consent. And true enough, we don’t need to like the prequels to despise Disney’s movies. It’s just that for many, Disney’s movies being so bad allowed them to finally see what the prequels brought to the table, and not just their bad aspects, making them more enjoyable than they were. That, and the fact that many prequel lovers could finally go out from the wood and say « told ya, SW without Lucas ain’t SW ». « Most of the good stuff in the originals is someone else’s idea » Citation needed -_-
George Lucas is to Star Wars what J.R.R. Tolkien is to The Lord of the Rings, the entire idea sprang from his mind and his experiences. Unfortunately Disney didn't show Star Wars as much respect as Peter Jackson did for Tolkien's work, when he decided to adapt the LOTR books into movies he spent ten years pre-planning to ensure that everything was perfect. This is all before the sets were even built. The fact that the sequel trilogy turned out such a mess is because the executives rushed it out to cash in, without giving it the planning it needed.
The prequels aren’t perfect, hell, I’d even say some parts of them (especially 1-2) are pretty bad. But underneath all the bad dialogue, and Jar Jar Binks, is a fully formed, thought out story. The story of a boy who’s thrust into a galactic conflict. Who rises to great power and falls into the darkness. Scenes like the death of Anakin’s mother, and Order 66 still have such a deep impact on me no matter how many times I see them. Even The Phantom Menace has great moments, something I really can’t say about the sequel trilogy.
I have always loved the OT and Prequel movies. I had some things I wish had been done differently in the prequels but I never complained about George I really wish that people had treated him better back then. And I truly wish Disney had treated him better today and honored their promise to him.
It always makes me depressed to hear about Lucas, he's become a public enemy and all because he made Star Wars, any reason you disliked the prequels wasn't a fault of his character and yet everyone paints him as an evil bastard.
George Lucas: Here’s what I wanna say….. Interviewer: Let me cut you off and interrupt you because why not? As someone who studied and got a degree in journalism, I hate it when journalists interrupt who they’re interviewing. Shut up, let them talk and, when they’re done, THEN you can respond. That’s how communication works.
I've a;ways loved the Prequels, and the brilliant way George Lucas turned his three-movie story of Luke Skywalker into a six-movie story about Anakin Skywalker, without ever compromising the galaxy he had created. As for Disney, the more so-called Star Wars movies they try to make, the more the true spirit of Star Wars will slip through their fingers.
I have seen all your episodes of revenge of the prequels, and I just want to say, thank you! Honestly I'm glad that more people are realizing how good we had it with George, and how crappy the current state of Star Wars is. I am really glad I discovered your channel, keep up the good fight Anomaly! I support you!
Dragonball 777 While that might be true it’s not totally and entirely impossible. I know me myself liked it at first. But after a while when I gave it some thought I realized that the writing wasn’t good and changed my mind.
The Prequels are my favourite Star Wars, especially Revenge of the Sith. Not to mention, the remasters to the OT really made them feel more sci-fi and just overall look better
When I started to read English (it's not my native language) part of the Internet in 2012-2013, I was shocked how many people hate episodes 1-2-3. How someone can not like it? What's wrong with you people? I like 1-2-3-4-5-6 almost equally. P.S. 27:20 - MythBuster!
Shamus _ They are objectively not though. Most of the acting and dialogue are fine, the plot is coherent, the story efficiently conveyed, there are lots of reasons to root for the characters, the music wonderful, the effects oftentime good, the scenery just gorgeous, or if you prefer less subjective terms : incredibly vivid, rich and detailed, as well as conveying very efficiently the atmosphere of the places they represent, the action is well shot, paced, and edited, and the choreographies are straight up amongst the best you can find in cinema. Are they master pieces ? ... I don’t know. Are they as good as the originals, or close ? I’d say so. EpII ain’t worse than epIV, and epIII is probably as good as epV or VI.
Jack Hallows The clones, despite the fact that they were CGI (yeah I know, artistic choice, still a bad decision), were just awesome ^^ And not just the clone, but the whole army. Their vehicles, paint jobs, the music that accompanied them, everything was so freaking good ^^
@@nathanjora7627 Yup, the music alone tells its own story (Across the stars: a tragic love, Battle of the heroes: an epic fight between brothers, etc.)
I'm don't even like most of the prequels (I find them to be vastly inferior to the OT) but I love George, I've always loved George, and I always will love George for all the joy he brought into my life and into so many other people's lives. That all being said, the prequels do look a lot better now that you have disney movies to compare them to.
I understand some people complaints about the prequels but I liked them and overall they had a sensible overarching story. They added alot to the star wars universe and had some of the best lightsaber combat you could think of
@@judasbooth5455 You're delusional if you genuinely believe that. Rian Johnson is an idiot. George Lucas is a genius. His innovations were so great that he redefined the film industry TWICE with Star Wars alone. Even if he had never made Indiana Jones, his impact on the film industry would still have been immense because Star Wars pushed it to new heights with both the Originals and the Prequels. He pioneered motion capture technology before Lord of the Rings made it popular with Gollum and Attack of the Clones led the charge into the digital age of filmmaking. And on top of all that, George actually understands story telling while Johnson can't even grasp the basics such as writing a consistent character or applying set up and payoff. George's creativity was off the charts. Christopher Lee, one of the worlds most experienced actors who also lived a very interesting life outside of the film industry, said "George's imagination is unlike anything I think I've ever come across" before confirming that George created Dooku's entire backstory, right down to where he was born, despite Dooku only being in half of Attack of the Clones and one scene in Revenge of the Sith. Keep in mind that Christopher Lee actually met J.R.R Tolkien, so it's no small thing for him to say that George's imagination is the most impressive one he'd ever encountered. George Lucas is vastly more intelligent than Rian Johnson. He has more talent, creativity and innovation in his pinky than Johnson has in his entire body.
@@judasbooth5455 He is competent, but he is not suited for Star Wars, he can subvert expectations or create a good mistery (Knives out duology) but he is not good at Star Wars.

27:00 Funny thing a lot of epics such as "Gone With the Wind," "Ben-Hur" etc were shot in the same way the prequels were. Except they used Matte Paintings/ miniatures and sometimes little people, not ILM.
The first cut of Star Wars was done at the studio's insistence. The final cut was much closer to his original vision, for what it's worth. Besides, he took the risk upon himself to go with his gut and re-edit the entire thing
Lawrence Kasdan, the guy who wanted to kill Luke off for cheap shock value, is the one who made Empire great? Kindly screw off. I think it's abundantly clear that Kasdan was only a minor part of what made Empire great. Not to mention he's not the only other writer who was working with Lucas on the project but everyone except Kasdan gets ignored in order to keep up the narrative.
George rejected Kasdans ideas so often, that Kasdan refused to work on the prequels with him. Kasdan had such a minor role and people have always given him way too much credit. The biggest thing he did iirc is help rewrite the opening crawl of a new hope lmao
Take this with a grain of salt, apparently Disney gave JJ little creative control for 7 and promised more for 9 but ended up cutting out a lot of JJ's cut

@@nathanjora7627 It wouldn't surprise me if he was sorry for handling it poorly. No one is perfect but reflecting on said things can make it better afterwards.
I think Lucas should of tried at the very least to make episode 7 first before selling because that would of set the tone and they'd have no choice but to continue with his vision but still I wish he'd just didn't sell anyway !
There is no Star Wars without Lucas because Star Wars is Lucas. Lucas's love of classic cinema, Saturday matinee serials, mythology, Abrahamic religions, Eastern philosophy, Akira Kurosawa, vehicles is what made Star Wars what it is. Without Lucas you have nothing but a cheap knock off.
@@anomalyinc3239 Oh I want to make a little addition here. Watchmojo said that the best 2 Star Wars movies were not directed by George Lucas, which were Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, however in Watchmojo's other video called "Top 10 Star Wars Movies So Far", they put Empire Strikes Back and A New Hope as #1 and #2, which the latter was directed by George Lucas. Some consistency Watchmojo.
So I just got a little bit emotional when you praised Jar Jar. I was not expecting to get emotional over something like that. I don't even agree with everything you say but it's so nice to hear someone be positive about the prequels without the constant token concessions. Thanks for these videos Anomaly Inc, they are invaluable!
I just went back to the source video. Watch mojo has over 20 million subscribers, and this video was made over a year ago. Only 70,000 views, less than 1,500 likes, over 3,000 dislikes. Geez. If that doesn’t SCREAM relevant...
Every fool site like watchmojo says "did you know?" about well known things, to try to create shock and judgement where there wasn't never a problem. It's nothing but false criticism, insulting what is noble and needing no explanation, to make money being arrogant and poaching and raping the achievements of others not idle like them.
I may like the unaltered versions of the original trilogy more than the Special Editions yes, however I still greatly respect George and his amazing vision and enjoy the Prequels (The Disney sequels are garbage)
George Lucas' six original Star Wars movies are the true masterpieces that built the legend of the Star Wars world, a magnificent, wonderful and timeless work, an indivisible whole in six wonderful parts that form the Skywalker saga, six amazing movies that shaped the lore, built the mythology, the iconic characters of the Star Wars galaxy, the Skywalker story and expanded the open world building and expanded universe of the Star Wars world, and Star Wars I-VI will never be beaten.
I was one of the few that enjoyed the prequels when it was cool bash them. after seeing the last Jedi I went back and watched them and loved them even more.
Did they seriously call George Lucas petty!? Yeah, in a timeline where Rian "muh toxic manbabies" Johnson exists. The way Rian has been pissing and moaning about his precious turd of a film has been nothing but petty. But you know, gotta bash Lucas and the prequels some more because having an original thought nowadays is too much to ask.
I'm happy that George Lucas had the last laugh after Disney stupid sequels. Hope those idiots like Simon Peggy, Chris Stauckmann (or whatever his f'n name is), and critics are getting the backlash they deserve.
I doubt it, unlike the prequels the sequels have no soul and tell an incoherent deconstructive story that pisses on everything from before. They'll always be hated, even by non-Star Wars fans.
@@Matt90Nine What I meant by "pissing" is that they make the last six movies redundant. The main villain from both trilogies comes back and the galaxy is threatened by a force that's essentially the Empire in all but name, making the struggle of the OT especially pointless since, by the end of TLJ, were back at square one. They also turned the characters into shadows of their former selves, Han is once again a deadbeat with little explanation, Luke is a cynical old failure, and Leia is mostly just a prop in two of the three new movies. The narrative of the sequels is nonsensical, as we're never told how large the First Order is or how they managed to amass such power despite being a REMNANT of the Empire that developed in an unknown part of space, (one where, logically, resources would be EXTREMELY limited,) as well as how they managed to take over most of the galaxy in such a short amount of time after a devastating loss. As to your point about most audiences...yeah no they DO care about lore and worldbuilding, as, after a movie they usually look stuff up if they enjoyed it and by the next movie they want to see how that carries over, or they'll think about some things they didn't understand and look it up to see if there's an explanation. If it makes sense, fine, if it doesn't, their opinion of the film diminishes and their expectations for the next film lower. Films aren't (purely) spectacle, they're also character driven and many of the greatest films have a great cast of characters existing within an even greater world. Audiences aren't dumbasses that want flashy lights in their faces with hollow as hell characters yapping in between, they want rich worlds and characters SUPPLEMENTED with great special effects. Honestly the fact you have this reasoning tells me you're one of those people who just doesn't think. If you are, then go to the Fast and the Furious franchise, I'm sure they'd love more cash cows they can milk.
Mattomic The sequels absolutely « pissed on itself », and much more than the OT ever did. Hux is a cunning Nazi wannabe ? He becomes an idiot kept around to play with. The holdo maneuver ? 1/1000000000 chances to make it, so it means that holdo has almost no chance of achieving anything else than fleeing. The Resistance being almost dead ? Who cares, they can unite thousands of ships in an afternoon if they want, etc. Also, Sui Gon’s existence doesn’t contradict the OT, neither do the midichlorians, and Yoda using the force for attack 20/30 years BEFORE saying that the force shouldn’t be used for attack isn’t exactly a betrayal of his character either, especially since... You know... He didn’t ? He always used the force either to save people (ep2 protecting Anakin and Obi Wan) or to defend himself from force attacks (ep2 against Dooku and ep3 against Palpatine). And when did Leia (a FORCE SENSITIVE PERSON, the type that can have VISIONS) said she remembered Padme ? She said she remembered her mother (that she indeed saw) and that she had memories of her being kind. Now, does she have memories dating back to when she was just born ? Why not. Memories of her first adoptive mother ? Why not. Visions of Padme ? Why not. All in all, we don’t know but it’s far less of a retcon, if it’s a retcon, than anything the sequel did. Also, yes, Obi Wan Kenobi kept his surname (which we don’t know how frequent it is) I a galaxy of billions of people, on the planet that Vader least wants to approach. I don’t see how that’s a problem -_- Also what you said is wrong, general audiences want an entertaining movie, period. Generally speaking, the movie will have to be pretty darn bad for them to see it right away, but even then it doesn’t prevent them from not giving a damn to that (ex : transformers). TFA doesn’t have a simple cohesive plot, it has a nonsensical storyline full of idiotic coincidences. As for the modern VFX... It was in what, 2017, and it had the biggest Hollywood studio to fund it, with one of the best team to carry the job ? Wow, it sure is an achievement that their VFX looked good -_- And I don’t get what you mean about people now praising the prequels ? I mean I literally don’t understand the sentence, could you perhaps rephrase it ? As for the filmmaking qualities : The prequels had a better more cohesive plot, character arcs, just as good performances, better or just as good camera work, better pacing, editing, and yeah sure, it had less good special effects, but they were much more innovative, in fact outright groundbreaking, and many if not most of them still held up pretty well. All in all saying that they are less good is true but absolutely not a testament to the better filmmaking, just to technological progress originally pushed forward by the prequels. And yes, you would notice if TPM was removed -_- You’d wonder why this Qui Gon Jin’s name comes up in epII and III, whose voice it is in epII when Anakin looses his sh*t, why the hell do characters keep talking about so much interactions we didn’t see. You’d wonder also why, for example, Palpatine knows so much about Anakin in particular, including very private matters like his relationship with Padme, and I’m talking about how he could’ve known that *before* epIII, so before we saw them chatting so much with one another. You’d also lose very important pieces of the narrative, like how Palpatine became chancellor, why is it significant that Gunray is still viceroy, what the fact that the clone army is a decade old means in epII, why was Anakin even a padawan if he came from a backwater planet, and why it was that his mother didn’t go with him, etc.
Mattomic « But ‘because it’s Star Wars’, audiences should give a shit » Not because it’s Star Wars, but because it’s a single series with a single timeline, unlike James Bond where there are multiple iterations of the thing. A better example would’ve been something like Harry Potter, and I can guarantee you that if HP4 had Harry Potter transform into a drunken punk that does zero during the story whilst a young witch from hufflepuff goes on to kill Voldemort, the general audiences would’ve given a damn. The fact that SW episodes were sufficiently spaced so that no one apart from someone sufficiently interested in SW could understand that it was the same kind of atrocity, does not change anything to the fact that it was indeed the same kind of abomination. Also the FaF franchise is a really bad example, since the overlap in core audiences is likely quite small -_- Meaning that maybe they want just flashy lights and the lot, but apparently (and it’s confirmed by box office) having flashy bits isn’t enough when the rest is utter crap. « Just let people watch what they want » Nobody advocated for stopping people from watching what they want (though people advocating for mediocrity certainly aren’t helping people with a certain level of standard get the entertainment they desire -_-), we are merely criticizing what *we* want to criticize, if this has an impact on you, then I’m honestly sorry, and even if I’m honestly sorry, I won’t stop.
8:12 To be fair, George often gives the thumbs up for things in Star Wars that he wouldn't have done himself. Most of the EU he gave the thumbs up for but never considered something he would make or even belongs in his Star Wars which is why he was gonna scrap most of it for HIS sequel trilogy, the only things staying intact being the PT, OT and CW.

CMDR JAY Thank the Maker !

And George was a major part in and provided direction to the clone wars series. How do you go from "George ruined Star Wars" and then turn around to say "George should have made the prequels like the Clone Wars series."
He knew what he was doing.

The prequels did use way too much cgi though. And a lot of it looked terrible.
I hate both trilogies but The disney movies uses sets. George didn't

There would be no Star Wars if it wasn't for George Lucas! Disney wouldn't have paid 4 billion dollars if they thought it wasn't worth it.
I can’t stand watching Kennedy saying how much she and Iger are planning to honor Lucas’ vision of the story and characters.
Did you ever hear the story of practical effects being used in the prequels?
No...
I thought not, it's not a story the internet would tell you
@@Matt90Nine CGI movies do not get old very well. Watch Attack of the Clones today and then watch Return of the Jedi and then tell which effects look better
Mattomic 3PO in TPM isn’t digital.
It was an actual puppet on set.
Mattomic « and they all hold up »
... wait, what ? Gollum or the cave trolls hold up better than Grievous or Jar Jar ? Seriously ?
Also, LOTR came out after the first prequel movie, and benefited from the advances made by ILM.
For the comparison of epVI with epII : all right, my bad, should’ve been paying better attention ><
Dexter being a puppet :
I agree with the face, but overall I don’t think so, having a four armed character move so naturally, not just his body but through a set would’ve been really difficult.
Mattomic « so actually it was made between TPM and AOTC »
Which is why I only references the former in my last message on this point -_-
« As for Gollum, he was made intentionally to look a little more unreal in order to prevent him from falling into the uncanny valley »
Beside the fact that if true, this wouldn’t necessarily be a good idea since Gollum is supposed to be disturbing, I wasn’t talking about what his face looked like, I was talking about the quality of the effect, the manner in which it blends with the practical environment.
« But in contrast to TPM, the balrog is the most impressive CGI character in FOTR »
Yeah... And so what ? I didn’t say LOTR had only bad effects, overall they are really good and still hold up pretty good, I said that they had less of them.
« Objectively, the Baron looks far superior »
... I don’t even know what character that is ^^
And I saw the trilogy not that long ago :/
« I’m aware with Jar Jar they were Lo-capping but that would only excuse his movements being off, not poor rendering »
No, that would be explained by how much more CGI TPM used, and the fact that Jar Jar isn’t badly rendered.
Right it's not even surprising they fell for each other, both were forced to grow up way to fast, Padme had to become a queen of a whole planet as a 14 year old (she's 5 years older than Anakin) then became the youngest senator in Naboo's history at age 20
Anakin was forced to become a Jedi and he's being told he's gonna save the whole Galaxy

In the original, the prequels and the Expanded Universe Legends, there's consistent collaboration under George Lucas. Under KK Lucasfilm, there is obviously none of that happening.
Everyone forgets how incredible Obi-wan was when talking about prequels...
Hayden was pretty excellent too. He really captured the descent into darkness perfectly. There were problems with the prequels, no doubt, but the main character casting wasnt one of them. Both of those guys absolutely owned their respective roles. Ewan McGregor IS Obi Wan Kenobi.
The Pew Place I hate when people shit on Hayden even though it’s because of his bad lines.

I mean, maybe the critics were fair (they weren’t), but it’s still the critics of the prequels, not the prequels’ quality that pushed him to sell to Disney.
And what you said is misinformation, not actually true -_-
He wasn’t surrounded by yesmen, nor did he want to direct and write, he wanted other people to do it, and the editions of the OT wasn’t made only by his wife, or without his consent.

I think the best diss to watch mojo is by quoting Qui-Gon Jinn "The ability to speak does not make you intelligent"

I've a;ways loved the Prequels, and the brilliant way George Lucas turned his three-movie story of Luke Skywalker into a six-movie story about Anakin Skywalker, without ever compromising the galaxy he had created. “I can’t stand prequel haters. They are worse than the sequel trilogy” do you know how fucking stupid you sound?
In the end, after 5 years, I still love Revenge of the Sith more than TFA TLJ and TROS
The only reason George brought out reworked OT is because he is the type of person who thinks nothing he does is finished and I respect him for that
That opening "george lucas isn't star wars" by watchmojo mate, say "george RR Martin isn't GoT"; all evidence to the contrary lol
Crapmojo catchfrase: this is crapmojo and today we're counting our picks for the top [5/10] for [_________]
Seriously, why can't they stop using this line and go straight to the point
You'd think that the title would be enough to inform
Yuuup
27:00 Funny thing a lot of epics such as "Gone With the Wind," "Ben-Hur" etc were shot in the same way the prequels were. Except they used Matte Paintings/ miniatures and sometimes little people, not ILM.
The first cut of Star Wars was done at the studio's insistence. The final cut was much closer to his original vision, for what it's worth. Besides, he took the risk upon himself to go with his gut and re-edit the entire thing
😲MojoCunt- "5💩Reasons"
😎AnomalyInc- "Hold my beer..."
Cosmonaut variety hour made a video on the prequels. You know what to do
Lawrence Kasdan, the guy who wanted to kill Luke off for cheap shock value, is the one who made Empire great? Kindly screw off. I think it's abundantly clear that Kasdan was only a minor part of what made Empire great. Not to mention he's not the only other writer who was working with Lucas on the project but everyone except Kasdan gets ignored in order to keep up the narrative.
Lawrence Kasdan is a bad writer and always was. George Lucas is too kind for his own good so hacks like Kasdan get credit that they don't deserve.
George rejected Kasdans ideas so often, that Kasdan refused to work on the prequels with him. Kasdan had such a minor role and people have always given him way too much credit. The biggest thing he did iirc is help rewrite the opening crawl of a new hope lmao
If George Lucas is Star Wars...
Does that mean he is the Senate?
Take this with a grain of salt, apparently Disney gave JJ little creative control for 7 and promised more for 9 but ended up cutting out a lot of JJ's cut
0:40 I'm still angry the way Mark wrote a mean Tweet towards Ivanka Trumps son for just being a fan he is only 5.
what did he wrote?
Ben facts don't care about your feelings Shapiro He did it toward Ivanka herself to be fair, but yeah, considering the child was in plain view, and the tweet was partly about him... Bad move Luk.. I mean Mark :/
Hell, that even goes against his own worldview.
@@nathanjora7627 Hate is a powerfull Emotion but he should know it the most cause he played Luke. It's a dick Move but they are still just Words
King Knight is best Knight Indeed, though the fact that these are « just words » isn’t really significant.
I mean, at these children’s age, these aren’t « just words ».
It wasn’t nearly as bad as some people said, but still.
And if I remember correctly, he apologized/praises the boy, though I may be confused on that one 🤨
Like that stopped Ruin Johnson from doing whatever the hell he wanted.
I believe that was one of his original plans. Not sure why he didnt go through with it.
I unsubscribed from watch mojo because of this pathetic attempt to slander Mr. Lucas's good name.
I'm glad to have found your channel. Keep up the good work.
will do
Thank you for responding to my request Nomz. Rank of OG Master granted. 😁
thanks for recommending
Thanks for these videos Anomaly Inc, they are invaluable!
my pleasure
Without the prequels, we wouldn't have THE CLONE WARS
Yes thank you, if I hear one more time that Star wars was saved in the editing I am going to scream. Every film is saved in the editing.
I just went back to the source video.
Watch mojo has over 20 million subscribers, and this video was made over a year ago.
Only 70,000 views, less than 1,500 likes, over 3,000 dislikes.
Geez. If that doesn’t SCREAM relevant...
This guy is a prequel fanboy and in denial. Still better than the sequels.
Denker Bosu ehhhh wut?
@@thesaltysith5915 I am talking about why he would pick something as "relevant" as this.
Denker Bosu meh. If it’s WatchMojo, they deserve all the shit talk. Fucking stupid, lazy ass channel that deserves nothing.
Dude thats the premise of the series digging up these fossils and tearing them to pieces
The prequels have a good story , expanded the universe and perfectly transcends into the OT era .
I grew up with the Prequels, I think 3 is the best, 1 is the second best, Prequels for life boys. Love you George
George Lucas's Star Wars IS Star Wars! Disney Star Wars is just over budget fan fiction of the worst kind!
Every fool site like watchmojo says "did you know?" about well known things, to try to create shock and judgement where there wasn't never a problem. It's nothing but false criticism, insulting what is noble and needing no explanation, to make money being arrogant and poaching and raping the achievements of others not idle like them.
@Zachary Foster
I knew it somewhat. It was a betting thing, ole gaming itself, hardwired to a fault, but soft to the ware.
How the hell is watchmojo still alive? Great video btw!
I love the prequels, more than I love the O.T.. The prequels put the war in star wars, the only movies I don't enjoy is the sequels, and Solo
Mattomic ... I don’t think so, and if it’s the case, then it’ll be a tragedy, because the sequel movies are still awful.
I don’t see how that’s a problem -_-
Also what you said is wrong, general audiences want an entertaining movie, period.
Wow, it sure is an achievement that their VFX looked good -_-
And I don’t get what you mean about people now praising the prequels ?
I mean I literally don’t understand the sentence, could you perhaps rephrase it ?
As for the filmmaking qualities :
The prequels had a better more cohesive plot, character arcs, just as good performances, better or just as good camera work, better pacing, editing, and yeah sure, it had less good special effects, but they were much more innovative, in fact outright groundbreaking, and many if not most of them still held up pretty well.
Mattomic « But ‘because it’s Star Wars’, audiences should give a shit »
Not because it’s Star Wars, but because it’s a single series with a single timeline, unlike James Bond where there are multiple iterations of the thing.
Also the FaF franchise is a really bad example, since the overlap in core audiences is likely quite small -_-
Meaning that maybe they want just flashy lights and the lot, but apparently (and it’s confirmed by box office) having flashy bits isn’t enough when the rest is utter crap.
« Just let people watch what they want »
Nobody advocated for stopping people from watching what they want (though people advocating for mediocrity certainly aren’t helping people with a certain level of standard get the entertainment they desire -_-), we are merely criticizing what *we* want to criticize, if this has an impact on you, then I’m honestly sorry, and even if I’m honestly sorry, I won’t stop.
