    After watching your videos on drawing hair my drawings have improved quite a bit, I think. One of my problems was wanting to just finish the drawing. I was ignoring the fact it takes patience especially working on certain details. I noticed that some drawings I did much better than others and it came down to the time I spent on details. I don’t draw often, only when I feel in the mood. Enough ranting on and on. Thanks for sharing your work. 💯

      I’m happy to hear my video was helpful! Yes I insist to everyone, keep going. The realism will come. Often I repeat the same actions over and over until I find a way to get the result I’m after. Patience is the key 👍🏼

      Artist Marie Lowe Girl, my kids and especially my grandkids have really curly hair and that’s what has been killing me. I’ll spend I don’t know how many hours on the face but, doing that hair. 🙄
      I can follow what I see pretty well but until recently it’s been almost 40 years since I was drawing and painting often.
      Like I said, after watching this drawing I’m feeling a bit more comfortable and am trying to spend the needed time on the hair as I do the rest of the drawing.
      It may be that as a barber and cosmetologist I’m expecting to be finished with hair on canvas/paper as fast as I do in the shop. Lol
      It ain’t been happening.
      Thanks again.

      Lol My Pops is a barber plus I cut my sons hair regularly and although a nice fade takes patience, it’s a whole different type of inner peace we need to find while working towards finishing a portrait 😂 with this drawing I did the face in an hour. The hair took 12 hours 😆👍🏼

    What is your inspiration for drawing African Americans?

    • @ArtistMarieLowe
      @ArtistMarieLowe  3 года назад

      My Ancestors, My Heritage, Our Beauty, Our Talents, Our Strength!
      I’m not just an artist, I have a passion for braiding and barbering hair. With my art I fuse my passions together.
      When I first began drawing I couldn’t find tutorials of realistic drawn black hair textures, so I taught myself then chose to share to help others learn.
      I don’t just draw Americans. In England we don’t say we’re African English. We have many cultural connections that we recognise. I am Jamaican English. My culture has been more Jamaican than African. But that’s a different discussion.
