Sometimes a simple but gorgeous scent made out of beautiful materials is what you need. I don’t think it is simple to make this nor easy to recreate! Nothing on this is screechy or artificial smelling, it creates the best vanilla cloud ever. I don’t care for the niche “edgy /cool” perfumery styles and like the well done classics, love the Guerlains. This is a must try for vanilla and gourmand lovers 🙂 PS news of Guerlain repackaging and major changes in lines. I really do hope they don’t cheapen their formulas or bring on dreaded reformulations 🙏
I agree, it's a lot more casual than the other "L'Art et la matiere" fragrances, but that works for me because I dress casual 24/7, and fragrances like Tonka Imperiale almost feel a little too done up for me. :) I get a lot of vanilla and powder for awhile on my skin, and then like 12 hours later it's sexy.... somehow! I love it though, it's one of my all time favorites! Great review as always
I'm so glad you reviewed this one and your review is spot on. I'm struggling to justify owning this one...and I do want to own it but not sure if I'll be getting what I ideally want from a $300 fragrance. The thing I love about this is the vanilla. It's sweet and rich and luxurious. One thing I can say is that I wore it for Easter and everyone that I hugged said I smelled good. Even my brother, who is not a scent fan, commented that it smelled so good. It leaves a good impression, no doubt. I find I want a little more, though. More suede. Out of the three A&M I've tried, this outshines SDV and Tonka Imperiale. I'm planning a trip to the boutique later this month to smell a few others and also want to try Cuir D'Ange by Hermes to see how it stacks up to CB.
Aww, well...ya know, vanilla always feels like a warm hug? It's one of those smells that feels SO familiar it can comfort anyone. This fragrance is certainly vanillic and cozy......BUT...I just feel like there are better ones!
Own and love Cuir Beluga.Iris Ganache was discontinued for a few years,Guerlain brought it back .... for whatever reason not as part of L'Art et la Matiere collection....but it's limited edition now and VERY-VERY hard to get.SOTD Orange Sanguine by Atelier Cologne
I own the same sample :) I really love it (and I do not like Hypnotic Poison) but I agree it’s more about vanilla then cuir. Like I spilled a lot of caramel/vanilla pudding in my grandmother’s leather handbag.
I don’t usually like leathers and suedes and I hate Ouds. But I adore this perfume. I’m surprised I love it so much. I am looking to buy a full bottle but I am being patient and waiting for a sale. These are so expensive. But they are worth it. I don’t get playdoh. Thank goodness coz I would hate it then.
I think this is a very nice one i did own a bottle and finished it . On clothes it smells lovely too. I do think it smells similar to a perfume from lancome but I prefer this one because still this one has the hint of a creamy soft leather suede note going on
Hello :D What a nice start of a Sunday watching your review. Thumbs uuuuup !I love a few from this line but they do not last long. The way to go with them is clothes spraying, I guess. Which ones were discontinued then?
Lovely stuff, i have a decant and enjoy a spray from time to time, i need to try others in the line like iris ganache, i have a bottle of tonka imperiale which i love and a sample of spiriteuse double vanille which is crazy juice. Cheers for the review mate, very nicely done!!
It's probably my best parfume but the price is a bit too much, few years ago 190 and now 210 euros. And i think the ingredients change because my first Cuir Beluga was very different. the smell was more intense, but it's very lovely and warm parfume.
Everything that I have tried from this line has left me disappointed...so glad that I bought samples instead of blind buying based on notes and a lot of hype. This one I have not tried.
Hmm, I was intrigued by it at first, but now that you say it's a lot of vanilla, I don't think I will try this one-- I've been looking for an elegant, soft(-ish) leather scent... This sounds too sweet/gourmand for me. Thank you again for an honest review! Do you have any favorite leather scents you might recommend?
The leather in here is really non existent. It's more based on suede but still...hmm non existent. Leather? Oh gosh there are some amazing ones. It depends on how intense ya wanna go. I would definitely recommend "cuirs velours" by Naomi Goodsir. It's a stunning soft elegant leather scent. :) It's very niche but girl...it's good!
ouch110 Fragrance Reviews a great line but quite dear, u can get get 4 15ml bottles for 120ish at the hermes boutiques. There are quite a few and I'd be surprised if you didn't find a few you like, cuir d'ange is a high end leather handbag smell. It's growing on me.
Omg! That fragrance is gorgeous! I got to try it recently and it is now one of my most wanted!

It’s weird coz I don’t normally buy perfumes with leather notes. But THIS one I love. I love this line. And yes I love Guerlain too.
Me too!
You should do a video on 90s perfumes that you like or those that you can still wear and not to smell outdated
Oh wow...that would be SO difficult. But now my brain is ticking, x

Oh no!! Now I fear for the rest! We will see. hehee
It lasts forever on clothes, my dressing gown reeks of it lol
Request please: would you consider reviewing Roses de Chloe and/or Versace Eros Pour Femme? Thx from Richmond, VA! xoxo
Thank you for the polite comment, lord knows I get some bad ones!!! If I come across a sample of either? I will do!! :)
ouch110 Fragrance Reviews ok yayyyy! I'm excited, and will be looking for a video when you can. Thx so much! 😘💕

I'll look into that one, thank you🌹
Eliza, try Tom Ford's "White Suede", might be the exact elegant & soft leather that you're looking for.
5Heliotrope Thank you!!!
you're welcome! let me know if my recommendation was right ;)
I think you nailed this review
Amazing amazing fragrance... far out is so addictive.
:)
Have u tried Cuir d'ange from the hermesessence line?
I haven't. But this Hermessence thing keeps popping up....I need to KNOW!!!
