I bought ANOTHER Smart Car ... this time a 2011 Smart ForTwo Night Orange edition. One of only 235 ever made!
Why? Well because my Smart 450 is getting on in its life and the colour ... well I just fell in love with it.
In this video Dad and I take the car for its very first test drive around some scenic routes of Lincolnshire

Tivoli is a Ssangyong/KGM from S.Korea
A boring test drive where nothing at all happens is a real result.

That was the best 40 mins I've spent watching anything that's been on TV all week guys, well done. In my town they've built new roads and roundabouts, of which have had they're curb stones ripped up already by lorries.

I know you said it was a boring video but I really enjoyed it. The banter between you and your father was great. I think you are right there is a bit of tyre noise from it but it works well. 😊

I wonder if the rear tyres have got a bit hard or maybe they are super-efficiency spec and a harder compound than normal.

I've just bought a 62 plate 451 passion soft touch, it's really well spec'd even has cruise control and the flappy paddle steering wheel! Also has heated leather seats. Has only done 39000 miles too!

Yeah i think you have said it all ,Jon ... It's a more grown-up vehicle ... and it does ride harder due to its set up ... i personally couldn't get comfortable with the seats ... but i only had it for 2 weeks while they were busy with mine .. i think he was trying to sell me it ... probably 😁 ... you maybe getting the noise from the perplex roof 🤷♂️ great video guys ... its still a nice car 👌

We've had our 2013 pure for 3 days and now it's got a check engine light on, so back to Austin to the shop. My wife's birthday gift ...... she's somewhat bummed. Loved the video, looks like positive results from all the work done. We watched and learned. Thanks again.😊 34:09 34:12 34:14

Tivoli is a SsangYong (KG Mobility). I Used to own a Suzuki Celerio ( called Gnat ) loved that car, it was a little go cart, I only sold it because my wife was having problems with the manual gearbox 😢 he lives next door now 😂 Maybe pulling the hatch blind closed might reduce the road noise a bit? Sadly your roads are as bad as ours😥 Thoroughly enjoyable video, you’ve both done a great job on Pumpkin 😊

Im going to give the aircon a good blast but the heater also smells of dog ... so yeah probably :(
@@JonCoupland maybe an ozone treatment is necessary...
You are quite right IMO, the 451 is a more grown up and refined car compared to the 450, but loses a bit of the character. The surge of torque from the old Suprex engine as the turbo spools up makes it _feel_ fast and fun and this is missing from the normally aspirated 451 (even the turbo 84 bhp version doesn't have quite a same kick). Still for £1800 you had a bit of a bargain I think, even with the various issues you and dad had to fix.

Hi luv your 451 and the colour is great , the prices for the complete exhaust on my 451 were very steap did you think the same ?
The average price i was quoted including fitting were around £450 😮
Thanks for watching - we bought a genuine Smart Exhaust for ours at around £300 and fitted it ourselves - i think its because its also including the catalyst!

Do you reckon the panoramic roof makes the noise bounce around a bit more? Also, there’s a roundabout with one of those lanes on the way into Clacton-On-Sea. Confused me the first time.

The Celerio was the Wagon R + replacement - built on the same underpinning? The Tivoli is a Ssangyong - Korean built

The Tivoli would be a Ssangyong Tivoli.
They recently changed brandname from Ssanyong to KGM apparently.
The Tivoli was designed when it was still part of Mahindra, but the brand recently got bought by a Korean consortium "KG Mobility".

Those extreme wheels and tyres will add a lot of road noise, especially in a small resonant cabin…. also older aged tyres can be noisier than new and the noise ratings vary.
I’m sure the car will now give good service….
Covered over 1000 miles this week and so far so good :)
I thinkthe dealer used regular gas, but when we get it back and I use up most of the gas I'm planning on refueling it with 91 octane.

Soooo. The 451 has a conventional 5spd gearbox that's automatically controlled, whereas the 450 gearbox is a 3spd with overdrive that doubles it up, hence 3rd to 4th shift is slower than the rest. It's a shame they didn’t do a 451 6spd somehow, would've helped the mpg.

@@JonCoupland Good price for this rare colour. I have a 2008 Brabus. I got it 2 years ago for £3,700, currently on 73k miles. I love it. Keep up the great videos Jon!

I keep my interior roof sunscreen closed, I find it gives a much quieter drive.
I was a lorry driver most of my working life, the Smart is the smallest vehicle I've ever driven, and I love it.😊

If u want to lose weight get some watermelon & black grapes and blend it drink a litre a day some in the morning & some at night after food.
My current diet plan is doing me alright ☺️ 2 stone down in 7 weeks - will keep at it but good advice!
Budgets Jon budgets - If highways don't spend ALL their budget a cash strapped council will say they are getting a bigger budget than they need so reduce it on them. Always happens.

Your dad don't seem impressed LOL His expression needs no words , I like the little Smart car but it is a Girly car like the Fiat 500 , A mans car is probably a Hyundai i10 LMAO hence why i sold my one they do drive well but are very agricultural compared to your Smart car for example.
