So what helped me was, going further forward on the tank when going from standing to sitting. Like over exaggerate everything. Keeps the front wheel in the rut and sometimes some front break aswell. And keeping the foot on the pegs in all corners, Leav the clutch and back breaking alone aswell. Just throttle in corners for balance, smooth throttle. It takes some time to getting used to. But it works wonders, I do put my leg up sometimes now but it’s not necessary really. Except if you have a really deep rut that’s gonna catch your foot and rip it off the peg.
I’m a young kid and I just got my first manual clutch and I haven’t rode on a track yet with it but I have rode once on a track and watching you we’re on the same level
@@DerekHallman the riding footage of the rhythm section was awesome and how you did POV and 3rd person from your buddies really brought it all together! I see you trying stuff not just on the dirt bike 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Bro thank you for keeping this style video up!!! I really love and appreciate your videos you have great content. I hope you keep posting these! Much love bro and stay safe🤙
this is south fork mx. My gopro is mounted on the chin piece of my helmet. The mounts, windscreens, and microphone I use are all listed in the description for ya.
That track looks perfect for someone who is a beginner . The track around my house is fuckin brutal like 2 table tops. Every jump sends you to the moon. I’ve been a couple times but the big tracks are so intimidating I never build the courage to do more than 1 or 2 laps.
I cant tell if your doing it already but what you should do is lean the oppisite way of the turn and lean the bike into the turn so basically try to sit on the side of the seat
I’ve been riding for just over 2 months now and I always go on this little track near where I store my bike. And because I live in England it’s always a pain to find decent tracks. Anyways the roots on the track currently riding at are so bad. I never go a different path due to me crashing when I first started.
Hey I have a tip, s when you are in a rut hold on to the clutch and then slowly release it out of the rut to give you way more momentum, hope this helps
that rhythm section is nice i wish more tracks had that instead of table table or double table or double double double. like be unique lol. that track has it all. but that jump out of that sand section is sketchy lol
Man I’ve been binge watching a lot of your video’s and I absolutely love it! I wanna get a 125 dirt bike so bad to start riding again but we don’t have any trails in the part of the Netherlands where I live.
Man i love someone using a 2 stroke, i also use one, and when i come to the track i see nobody with one xD, i have a 250cc 2 stroke gas gas with 62 bhp, this bike flys over the track, and how it sounds like crazy hahaha in comparison with 4 strokes, i know u feel me 😉
Just had a group chat today with my buddies about holding a line in corners and high speed vs low speed compression. Too much science for me. Seems like we're going thru the same mx experience though. Hope to make vlogs as 🔥 as you one day though 😉
If you wanne luren ruts come to the Nederlands you have Brabant and that track is in Lierop were you have really good ruts I drive there too also jeffry herlings so yea
Hey Derek, do you like Roberts or South Fork better? Rode Charles City today for the first time and didn't care for that one too much at all. 6 inches of flour like dirt and zero flow. Plus the landing of the jumps are weird. Although it is open all week. Let me know what you think.
Charles City has some fun trails but I don't like the MX track either. South Fork and Robert's are both great but totally different. Robert's is my favorite - it has a laid back vibe, track is really long and fast paced weaving through the woods, big banked corners, and different sized jumps to practice on. It's hard pack most days though unless he preps it. South Fork is always perfectly prepped but the vibe is much more serious, lots of dudes doing 30 minute motos practicing for Lorettas. Are you close to both of them?
@@DerekHallman I’m in Mechanicsville Va so about an hour from both. I really like how flowy Robert’s is and like you said a good variety of everything. Good people there too. Haven’t been to South Fork yet, but I could tell from your vid it’s more of a serious racers track. Heading to western Colorado at the end of the month for a week of riding, you should come with. Got room in the truck and trailer! 🤣 I ride a black 22 450rx #741, maybe I’ll see you at Robert’s soon.
Do you ever nosedive by accident letting off the throttle on the face like that? I know 2 strokes don’t have much engine braking but it still messes with my brain 😆
Body Position is everything in ruts... Dont need to worry about moving forks yet.. Brake before the corner Centre yourself on the bike Lay the bike over put your ass crack on the outside edge of the seat. Weight the outside peg and accellerate through the Rut... Weighing the outside peg plants the rear and stops it from popping out of the rut
Haha yeah man this was back when he first made the ant hill jump and it was immediately out of the corner. It was tough to jump it! Now the corner is moved back farther and clearing it is a piece of cake
I tried to keep the advice everyone gave me out in front when I went and rode South Fork. But I looped off the last jump in the rhythm section😩😂.. I need to get back out there and practice a lot more… keep up the good work….
Oh it was a planned ejection ….🤷🏽♂️💨💨saved myself but the bike was ok too.. it’s a video on my channel titled Southfork Lap2.. Have a laugh on me … but I’ll get it together out there soon and ride like the wind… or go down trying….

Hey man thanks for watching the videos! I personally think a 250F is easier to ride but a 125 two stroke will teach you to be a better rider in the long run.

from what seem'ed to help odi is standing up going into a rut and then sit down as late as possible, obviously this might not help you or I just wasn't paying enough attention to notice you doing that which is on me
It might just be the video but your bike sounds a little bit rattly. Id try going a bit richer up top with the Lectron just for peace of mind, or your crank/main bearings might be going out.
Yeah I've been hearing the noise and trying to figure out what it is the last few rides. What's weird is the bike is actually running rich and it sounds and feels better when I lean it out. Crossing my fingers it's not the crank bearings lol 🤞🏻
You inspired me into riding! Thank you so much, i'm having the most fun i've ever had!
LOVE to hear this! Keep shredding 😁
What always helps me in corners is keeping my outside leg tight against the shroud and honestly I feel like I push into it as well as the peg.
So bummed I missed out on riding this day, looks like a blast 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Wish you could've come man it was a great day! We'll ride sometime soon
