Purely speculation, but the rumors are more late game quests being added by the enhanced edition at the end of the month, outside of continuing through the ashes havent heard anything about dlc
Oh, wow! I've been waiting for this. Thanks for the review. I will be trying this DLC in the main campaign. So glad that WotR is receiving such a great addition. Can't wait to see what will they come up with in the second season
Thanks for the early review. From the sound of it, the way it plays out is just like Beneath the Stolen Lands, which takes multiple runs to beat the final boss. Don't think I will spend that much time on this DLC, but it's great to spend another 10-20 hours, though.
Finished my first (and probably last) run on core difficulty, main character was a dhampir spawn slayer, followed by a half-orc steelblood bloodrager, a halfling skald, a human kineticist, a dhampir dirge bard and a human slayer. Had my steelblood tanking most of the time while my slayers shot everything along my water and earth kineticist and the skald + bard buffed everyone.
The decision that I find difficult is whether to play this DLC in my main playthrough (I am at the very start of Act 3). On one side, I would get extra XP and items, but on the other side I would spend most probably over 20 hours (I am slow and turn-based) trying not to die (main party).
Looking forward to picking up Wrath soon, then finally getting around to Kingmaker. I backed the Kickstarter for Kingmaker at the collector's edition tier (and they sent me 2), but being a new dad became ultimately more important. I am sad I couldn't back Wrath. Going to back Rogue Trader for sure.
I am very looking forward for this roguelike mode. I hope they improved it from previous game: It was playable and I enjoyed it but it was't very rich.
One question. You said all Mythic Paths are unlocked to be chosen at level 3. Does that include late game paths like the Gold Dragon, or are you still restricted from picking them until Mythic Level 7?
You dont get to pick them until Rank 8 like normal, they dont have any abilities for the earlier ranks so it wouldnt do you much good to pick them at rank 3
This is the perfect sort of DLC to tide me over until enhanced edition comes out, I've been hankering to play the game a bit but don't wanna start a whole new campaign before that update. Not to mention playing with builds is always fun
I really hope the concept of roguelite portions makes more appearences within the crpg genre: more so than companions it is a relatively convenient means to allow players that are somewhat inexperienced within the genre experience various character and party archetypes without expending many hundreds of hours: aiding them to familiarise themselves more to the normally daunting genre.
Weird...I completed two runs of the Roguelite and didn't get any story developments. Probably just an issue with the version I had. Thanks for the review.
Yeah, not sure, hard to say with a press copy. The story advanced when I hit the major bosses (Star Rattle, Songbird, the Archpriest etc) which were at the ends of each quest phase
I recently had a question pop up in my head, given how fast you complete content, do you actually play anything for fun or return to some games over time? Maybe some more open ended games like rimworld or stellaris or something?
He's mentioned a few different places that he does play things for fun - they are mostly action RPGs like the Diablo franchise and he just does it to unwind and relax and so doesn't really review those types of games.
Great video. But, some things I'd like to know. Can you access the DLC within the main game? Do you use the Original Party? Also, if yes, how does the Mythical level works?
I have one question about this DLC, and that is. What the heck is the Toothy Chest for ???. I can't seem to put anything into it, and there's on info online.
@@MortismalGaming Okay. But if that's the case then why will the game not allow me to put anything into it ??? Do I need more than one playthrough to use it? or is it the link between the dlc and the main story line for getting items across different characters?
When you call the game a rogue-lite (at least, my ears hear lite and not like), I'd like to ask a clarification on what you mean by rogue-lite vs rogue-like. I know there's a lot of opinions out there, but i tend to lean on 'like' meaning progress made on a run for the most part does not help your next run (FTL being one i'd consider a rogue-like), whereas when i hear 'lite' i think 'progress made this run will make the next run easier with permanent buffs for successive runs' (a la rogue legacy 1/2). Could you elaborate on your distinction if you haven't already?
I use them pretty interchangeably, it reminds of the discussion around cRPG and whether it means computer or classic, its just semantics after a point. As long as people understand the information you're conveying its not that important
Was magic vestment and greater magic weapon nerved? It seems to no longer increase the enhancement of an item but replaces it. Or is it just buggy in my current playtrough?
i havent finished kingmaker or wrath, no where near finishing. Is it worth getting this because i love dnd games and their combat or should i finish wrath first?
Gonna wait until enhanced edition and then jump back into this incredible game. Cant wait ti try out this dlc. It sounds nuts! Absolutely love the combat in pathfinder.
The roguelike mode really really needs an option to export/import premade level 1 characters. You can spend more time in character creation every time you start a new run than actually playing the game.
YAAAY! Finally this mode came out. Time to build some builds for real XD A question, enemies are random as well right? In the core game we fight demons and they are immune to electricity for example which made a number of classes and builds redundant. Does this have the same issue?
Idk about other builds but for those having problems with the elemental resistances just pick the mythic feat Ascendant Element and you can use any element just fine as it will bypass resistances and immunity to the element you pick. You can also just add the feat through the toybox mod if you dont feel like wasting 1 mythic feat.
IIRC: In Kingmaker, if you started in the dungeon and lived, you could import the character over to the main campaign to start a new main story with it. Is this ( still(?) ) the case in WotR?
Hey, Mortismal. Thanks for the review. I wanted to ask about the resting mechanic? Do we still have to deal with curruption, or is it different mechanic like supplies or something?
Even if you play for the story, being able to make a character build that works for you. As opposed to a Neoseeker triple-dip monstrosity, is worth playing these for. Because once you know what works, you can recreate it much more easily in the Main Campaign. My one minor concern is that it already is so easy to hit level 20 in Wrath that I'm not sure how playing a side DLC makes sense in story terms. In Kingmaker, you needed the DLC, and thorough exploration, to reach lvl 20 before the final battle. And it usually was right before the final battle. Wrath you hit max level before Act 5 is done even if you're not a completionist. That is a minor discouragement when it comes to playing a super-long side mission. Though I guess it makes it safe to skip Blackwater and take a different quest. 😁
I'm still not clear here. What exactly do you "carry over" when you end your run in this rogue-like? In Kingmaker DLC, the equipment shop changes for new runs based on how deep your previous run were.
One shop changes, another has every unique item you've found so far on each run for sale. Rewards from the islands can also apply to your next characters, and the quest progress carries over. As you hit new phases more things unlock at port and on the ship.
@@MortismalGaming Cool thanks. I just died on my first run on the third island to a very angry monitor lizard thing which killed my entire party solo. Best death ever

I mean I get it. Just, for me, it's either lacking my favorite classes or favorite archetypes. And I was hoping for some more complementary mythic abilities for certain classes. And even classes that I like to play, like oracle and witch, lack abilities that I really enjoyed about them.
My feeling after looking at the "rules" of BTSL roguelite mode was that actually getting the Apocalypse Can Wait achievement could take you 25-50 hours depending on your speed at getting through fights and RNG luck. There were only around 10-20 unique "levels," though.
Finally, I loved this DLC on kingmaker and it seems to be way better now, I feel like every CRPG should have a roguelike DLC or at least downloadable community made adventures. You can only play the same story so much until it becomes meaningless and you just wanna enjoy exploring making builds and the combat
Anyone else first think that Mortym’s into music is saying “Mortismal Gaming” and find themselves singing it out loud with every upload? No? Just me then? Ok
Thanks for the review. I'm not too exciting about this DLC to be honest. I got the Season Pass and I'm happy about some subquests and items for the main campaign, sure, but I wont touch the roguelike mode with a 3m pole.
This is the first DLC they released that is a mandatory buy for me. I played the randomized dungeon for Kingmaker a ton just to get a feel for different classes. And this one seems to be a whole lot more fleshed out than that. Also some cool patchnotes for 1.4. All animal companions with the Gore attack type now get a free trip attack which at least makes them competitors to the wolf and hound. And a big nerf to the Wolfscarred Face curse which used to be pretty much a boon for all characters who did melee. Now they get a 10% chance of spell failure which makes it much less of an easy pick for me and only viable if you focus on melee and keep your spells as a backup.
I only wish they would do a high level DLC that has more to do with the main story, a treasure hunt isn't really all that compelling a story.
Purely speculation, but the rumors are more late game quests being added by the enhanced edition at the end of the month, outside of continuing through the ashes havent heard anything about dlc

I wonder why i wonder is it for wisdom
