- (7-3-2015) enjoy a cold start of a bus that has not run in 2 months. I believe it lost its prime hence the extended cranking required.

Love the way it can still start up, especially for a 1960's bus
So glad to see a fellow Fishbowl fan! She's a beauty! For a few seconds there I thought it lost its prime, but it did kick over and growled like a classic Detroit.
Gotta love the sound of Detroit Diesel!!!
Chris S they sound like growling dogs 🐶 🐕 Lol Best engine ever
This is the same bus that was used on the movie Speed 1994.
Also the original jurassic world movie had this bus in the t rex chase scene
Move that bus! Move that bus! Move that bus! Move that bus! Move that bus! Move that bus!
BUS DRIVER!!! MOVE THAT BUS!!!!!
Once you got it running, you should've called up Sandra Bullock to take it for a jump...
+Dana Danarosana THUMBS UP!
Dana Danarosana the fact that these buses dont have poweres steering makes me doubt if the bus would have even entered the 105 without crashing and blowing up at that sharp turn
***** I don't believe that ANY bus wouldn't have rolled during that turn. It's all entertaining... but it's also all fake... except for Sandra Bullock driving the bus... that always happens. She's Santa Monica Municipal Bus Lines' best and busiest driver. Look for her on your next ride on the Big Blue Bus. :-)
The later Fishbowls (5305/5306, 5307/5308) have power steering. Plus, it shouldn't be too difficult to refit it with PS.
@@Dana_Danarosana actually myth busters tried to roll a new look they couldn’t make it happen without filling water tanks and strapping them to the roof to make it top heavy
Interesting how you can start it from inside the rear engine compartment! That is one .cool old bus!
WestCoast Elevators there is a button in the drivers compartment to start it, or the engine compartment for maintainence personell

Very cool! I've never really learned much about buses despite my interest in cars. I think I might have to change that now as buses (especially old ones) are also quite interesting.
@@DieselDucy why can't buses today have this kind of feature. Really missed it. By the way the original jurassic world movie actually featured that bus in the t rex chase scene. The bus in the movie is just the same as yours
@@xtremedj1929 huh? I thought buses today still have rear start
Awesome bus!!!!
Hey Andrew,
can you please do some more bus videos of these old buses? That would be great.
Best regards
Moritz
AC Transit had a shitload of these into the 1980s (they might still use a few on occasion), The were gradually phased out by the M. A. N."Accordion" buses, Gilligs and Van Hools. The AC Transit system was put in by Oil interests to replace the electric "Key" system.
Used to ride on those in nyc when i was younger
nothing like the sound of a General motors in line series 71!
Cool! I never knew you could do that. Nice bus :)
You started it a second time and it cranked right on up-what a terrific bus this 1966 is-can it go from 0 to 60?
miss these..please post more??
Quite obviously you're loosing fuel prime. Because it started immediately (good engine) but then died and had to crank a long time to get the fuel re primed. I also have a transit bus that starts immediately too but keeps running because of a sound fuel system. Possibly the check valve is leaking.
Definitely a fuel issue.
Jurassic world. That bus was wrecked by the t rex in the getaway scene. There just the same body design with those windows
looks like it even has A/C!!
Looks like an ex-GO Transit bus
I wonder if this bus is destroyed by the tragic fire.
it was :(
Those "fishbowls"(GM and FLX) came in varying sizes...in feet:
40, 35 (respectively four large sliding windows and, in front of the exit door on regular transits or small window on suburban/shuttles, three with two behind the little window on the GM and door for 40 foot
and just one window behind the entrance and (for GM again only) small window on passenger side), 30 feet, and smaller (the so called "baby" fishbowls.) Those could be as small as 32! Look for baby fishbowl on the search engine!!
I woud have jumped in a reved a bit instead of
Leaving it like sooo many on youtube with a diesel could have stalled yet agian
Look at how tiny the motor is. No wonder these things are such HORRIBLE hill climbers. (I know, I've ridden one of these going up a steep hill or two.)
put a turbo in this thing, and it will climb up the rocky mountains with no problems
It's a 426 cubic inch engine
It's the transmission. Designed for driving on city streets. That's why they are slow
Well if you want to keep it a V-drive, put in a V-730 or 731 transmission (just find a spot for the keypad shifter if a 731) or if you want to convert it into a T-drive, put in a HT-754 (just make sure to reverse the rotation of the engine), then it will go faster. The VS-2 is basically a HD Powerglide.
a non smoker too
Keanu Reeves donde estas???
2525 is the best only.
Sadly this bus is burned up.
