We are going through the process of installing a new SSD drive into the native hard-drive location on the laptop which ensures we take advantage of its higher bandwidth. Since the DVD drive is pretty unnecessary in modern days it will be replaced with a caddy that holds the original mechanical hard-drive for additional storage. Like always it is a good practice to do a fresh windows installation which will help everything perform better.

Proud owner of a (still) immortal K55VM thatvI already changed thecHDD for an SSD and maxed up thecRAM to 16gb. This tjing is currently my DayZ machine and slowly converting on a "Nobara*-machine test center" while it slowly refuses to die.

So your laptop can use both SSD and HDD now? I didn't see how you linked the HDD from the dvd port to the system but I'm guessing it was part of the casing that you swapped.

Yes. By replacing the DVD drive with a simple holder for a hard disk you can have two storage devices on the same laptop. You don't require any modification to the link to the system. Both the hard drive holder and a DVD drive use the same SATA type connection.
Hello. I have an Asus k55vm computer. Currently, I have an Nvidia gt630 2gb GPU. Can I do a gpu update on this computer?
No, GPU is soldered on. It cannot be replaced.

There are two slots and each can take max 8GB of RAM to a total of 16. You need to use the same style SODIMM DDR3 memory as the original though.

+呆昌 Hello. It's fairly easy to find. You should just search for "SSD caddy" online. Both Amazon and eBay have a lot of options. Make sure you select the correct size - there are two variations 9.5 or 12.7 mm. i7-3630QM. There is a version of this Asus K55VD with that processor. It's an official and authorized update. It will work.

No, the processor is soldered on, you cannot replace it.

You will require a Caddy with a thickness of 12.7 mm to work with this laptop. Hope this helps.

Hi mate, just a question please, i just wanna change my hard disc now, i have bought a Samsung 860 Evo 500gb, have you done any data migration before or just a backup and after you made clean windows install?
Hello Zoltan. What I did for the video was a backup of only relevant information, the rest was cleared before I freshly installed Windows on the SSD. You can explore options for migration however I don't have much experience there. I can only suggest looking into EaseUS Partition Master to manage/clone hard drive space.
When switching from HDD to SDD it's highly advised to do a fresh install and avoid data migration since they work differently and you want to ensure that the system treats the ssd as a ssd and not as a hdd.
Hello! Can i replace GPU NVIDIA GEFORCE 610M with NVIDIA GEFORCE 920M on Asus K55VD?
I don't think it is going to work as the two GPUs you mentioned are based on different architectures and also use different PCIe interfaces.
So you cannot upgrade GPU since it is integrated in motherboard?!?
That is correct. The laptops that came with dedicated GPU have the chip soldered to the motherboard so you will not be able to swap it.

+I am me Hello. I haven't really looked into replacing my graphics card but my guess would be that it is not possible. I believe both the CPU and GPU are soldered to the motherboard.
I've opened my Asus K55VD and saw that the GPU is indeed soldered ,while the CPU is not .
You can change CPU, tho if you really want, you can get external graphics mate
You Use eGPU if you want to upgrade ur Laptop Graphics card
