Ingredients
Urad dal 1 glass
Chana dal 1/2 glass
Any boiled rice 1/2 glass
Toor dal 1.5 tablespoons
Whole black pepper 2 tablespoons
Cumin seeds 1 to 1.5 tablespoons
Dried chilli as per your spice level
Curry leaves few
Kayam(asafoetida) few tiny pieces
Salt
Roast all items separately and grind well

Mam', in our house we are making like this only But we are adding more rice and no thuvaradal All other ingredients are same No body takes this as such If chutney is there along with it one side they take it with out oil Perhaps since rice is more ,taste may be less In ooty I had a friend A Brahmin lady she taught me another combination that is 5 items only Uruddal, kadalaparippu, curry leaf Kayam and kappal mulaku In this the dals are not ground well ,small small pieces Rest three are powered well Lot of chilly is added actually Then salt for taste She gives little only the podi but more oil You have to mix well A red colour paste with small dal pieces It is so tasty This ok for all in the family but it is more costly Madam's podi is with less rice. so it will be tastier Thak you mam
