Oliva was clearly just messing around in his fight against Ron. Up until getting jobbed to sukune the only person he'd ever fought hard against was baki.
@weeabooslayer6465 To be fair, once he stopped holding back, and flexed his muscles for real he shattered Ron's entire hand when he tried to spear him
@@weeabooslayer6465 he was never in the offensive, he was merely reacting to him. The last time we saw him go all in attacking, the guy made an earthquake with Guevara's face.
Yeah I get why people are surprised about Hanada getting the upper hand, but a series like Baki isn’t all power scaling, it’s loosely based off real fighting. No matter how strong Hanayama is, it makes sense a Jujutsu practitioner like Hanada who has good physical specs and technique would be able to counter a hilariously telegraphed straight.
@@technodry3216if hanayama actually trained and took fighting serious from when he was young, he’d probably be as strong as yujiro. Yujiro has also claimed him to be ‘born strong’. Only difference is that hanayama doesn’t train and that yujiro probably trained a lot when he was young (martial arts).
Oliva represents the old guard, while Hanayama is new blood. When Oliva first introduced he going to be much stronger, but as story progresses that gap closes. Also I don't think Oliva sphere technique will be as effective towards Hanayama, Specc had Hanayama badly weakened and in a tight choke hold, that was until, Hanayama gripped his inner thigh and tore a chunk of his muscle off.
Oliva got a big power up near the end of the last Baki run. Hanayama, meanwhile, has unfortunately been stagnant. Oliva probably wins this without too much trouble.
I would agree Oliva would win Mid to maybe High dif. He just cant challenge him to a grip strength match or just not get grabbed by him. He may be in trouble but I could see him being able to get out of it or just taking the damage and still wining.
Hanayama trains a little bit in Secret, but I find it hard to believe somebody like Oliver who is a connoisseur of raw strength and extremely well educated would lose to the Brawler that is Hanayama.
oliva lost to hanma son while hanayama beat a hanma son he leagues ahead also has oliva and yujiro even actually fought legit once after baki was born like huh lol
@@ericx6969 "Hanyama beat a hanma son" and when was that? If you mean that fight from early Baki the grappler when Baki was 13 yo then just give up man, 18 yo Baki from prison Oliva fight would no diff that baki from Hanayama fight so that's lame comparison.
@@ericx6969not a very smart way to try and justify that Oliva is stronger. Baki at the time was wayyy weaker then he is right now. This also applies to hanayama the only difference is hanayama has pretty big potential that could very easily give Oliva a run for his money. He just chooses not to train
Oliva is one of the only three people under constant surveillance by satellite; also, Oliva has not been knocked out, Hanayama has been twice. Oliva fought Baki for over hour, Hanayama fought Baki for less than twenty minutes 💪🏽
Oliva and Hanayama are two similar archetypes but Oliva is smarter, has better techniques, and arguably has better physical specs. So I’m giving it to Oliva. Although, I do think Hanayama in his fight with Musashi versus Oliva in the prison arc would be really close, with the slight edge going to Hanayama in my opinion. Like you’ve said many times, the fanbase needs to realize characters are constantly getting stronger, just at different rates. ESPECIALLY Hanayama, who would wash the version of himself in the Deadly Convicts arc. But most of the series, and currently in Rahen, Oliva takes it. But really close, both definitely top 10 fighters.
Oliver's biggest weakness is his mindset to fights. We saw in his fight with Shobun Ron that early he was playing around and got injured but at the end shobun Ron could do anything against him. For Guevara he was confident again and played along with Guevara's game something the he did to neff Oliver but after baki laid with Maria Oliver stopped playing around and low diffed Guevara. Against baki it was a high diff fight with Oliver being serious from the beginning for once and both looked spent by the end. Against Yujiro it's Yujiro enough said but he still has Yujiro's respect. Again Sukuna Again he was over confident but this time it cost him far more then in previous fights. So hopefully he stops taking all his fights lightly and starts fighting them seriously from the start. For hanayama he was the strongest before he fought the hanmas and learned that lesson early and has been improving since. The translation is questionably as in the one I read it said his natural getting stronger like Yujiro but I've seen other that say he trains with nobody knowing so we'll have to wait for the anime for the final say. As of right now I'll give the high diff win to Oliver assuming that he doesn't get crippled by hanayama's grip before getting serious.
yujiro already said it he dont want to take the full force headbutt of oliva and in their fight yujiro didn't want oliva landing a punch on him giving the statement above some credibility while when yujiro fight hanayama he let him punch him full force.
Yeah, but due to feats, Yujiro jumps so much in power throughout the series. The version of Yujiro that took Hanayama's full punch was also after his climactic fight with Baki, which was also after Yujiro demolished Oliva in a test of pure strength
If Oliver and Hanayama end up fighting if would be interesting because the fight could end with either one of them win but all we know is if it ever does happen it my surprise use all considering how crazy the baki fights can get
Musashi was pure skill, biscuit pure strength, they messed up and not having them two fight. Biscuit might have held up to his sword more than anyone else.
The only weakness Oliva has is his head or if you have a supernatural ability like the Hanma back, the demon jaw or Sukune's godly grip, but now he had a power up, using martial arts, more raw strength and such.
They did Oliva bad by no longer making him on par with yujiro in terms of strength, but I think the character who had it the worst off was Gaia, dude literally is fodder compared to the likes of Hanayama, biscuit, jack and those guys where he was once regarded as the only one in the world that had the best chance of defeating yujiro.
with all respect to oliva if they were to fight i think author loves hanayama too much to let him lose. he's getting his own spin-offs, all of his fights are bangers and he always has a moments where he faces vs top tiers like musashi, pickle, yujiro. with opponents pretty much always praising him. would really love to see him in all out fight in current manga
Both their yujiro "fights' should be mentioned oliva quickly got up from a punch while hanayama was knocked out from a slap. Both flew a similar distance and it was only one arc apart
You know, I can actually think of a reason how Hanayama beats Oliva in the arcade. For the record, this was probably Musashi-Arc Hanayama versus Unchained-Arc/early Sumo-Arc Oliva. I do believe Oliva does still have raw power over Hanayama, but Hanayama simply has the durability advantage given his sheer conditioning via taking all manners of attack (which is crazy considering Oliva did take less visible damage than Baki in their exchange, despite Baki being faster and just as strong, hence he was overpowered.)
Baki needed demon back and mind and still damn near died. Hanayama isn't on Oliver power level. Oliver hit a dude so hard the satellites in space got disrupted. Hanayama dies from a punch. @@ericx6969
Personally I think that they are equally in terms of strength, considering that oliva isn't Japanese, but I will give a slight edge to Oliva. Though in fight I see hanayama winning mid diff since he is more cautious, observant and doesn't overestimate himself.
I give it to Hanayama. They are both so offensive based. With that being the case, I think that Hanayama has the punching power to weaken Oliver enough that his sphere wouldn't work against him. I also think if he did get caught, his grip strength would counter the sphere.
Oliva should be above Hanayama, story wise Baki had a progression of opponents has stepping stones towards his father, he searched out Oliva, then Itagaki had to pull out a new character out of thin air with Pickle to introduce a challenge for Baki before his father, that being said you never know what can happen with Itagaki’s newer style of writing.
Hanayama only did so well against Musashi bcus of how Musashi is. Musashi likes to see what his opponent does first before flat out dominating gradually more and more
Both of them are tanks, strong. In a contest of power hanayama wins, but olivia doesn't have martial arts either, only the ball, so hanayama would probably brute force him
Oliva, a lot like Baki, has a really bad habit of screwing around too much, but unlike Baki he tends to get himself into losses by playing to other peoples' strengths. When he fights in his own way he shows that he is still a beast.
I think I’d go with Hanayama on this. Most of their stats are comparable, but Hanayama’s character is about perseverance while Oliva hasn’t been shown to do any endurance training. Bodybuilders in general aren’t known for endurance. Unless Oliva is strong enough to overpower Hanayama in a few blows then I don’t see him winning in a dragged out fight.
Have to disagree about Hanayama having "great difficulty" vs Speck, take away the cheap gun shots, bullets exploding in his mouth etc (iow were it a straight up fight) Han would have won rather easily
Current Oliva is definitely above current Hanayama and has the better IQ than Hanayama and has the better technique. And I think his lost against sukune actually help him learn not to always rely on strength alone.
if it wasnt for the recoding comment you decided to add at 1052 I was going to call you out but by that point delete your point because it is false and if I didn't stop to read it I would've believed you or thought you were wrong I personally think Hanayama stand a good chance till oliva proves he's upped his game

Even if per chance you can say the two of them are similar in strength and durability, Oliva is an adaptive and intelligent fighter. Hanayama is not. Oliva has the sense to not try to take every single blow and he would fight fast. Hanayama is getting his lights punched out pretty easily cuz hed do no such thing. Hanayama hasnt been hit by someone as strong as Oliva, besides Pickle, and that punch sent Hanayama flying. Oliva wont be gravely hurt from Hanayamas punches. So Hanayamas only true win condition is his grip, and Olivas muscles are so dense even that would struggle to do much good. Oliva mid diffs Hanayama. Also a few of the showing for Hanayama you displayed are no good. His fight with Musashi is ruled out because Musashi was goofing around that fight and didnt try to end it with any sort of urgency. His charge with pickle is a crazy feat but not representative of how it would look if pickle actually charged him with serious intent. And the grip contest where he destroys Musashi is just that.
