As a first time gun buyer and who purchased the Walther PDP for his first pistol, I want to thank you for taking the time to record and upload this tutorial. Great camera work and easy to understand instructions. Thanks again and subbed
Best video I've seen on cleaning the Walther PDP. I just got mine. Haven't shot it yet so haven't cleaned it yet either. Thanks for the great video. I need to buy some CLP! I have always used Hoppes #9 bore cleaner. I wasn't aware that apparently you can't use that on Walthers. But this is my 1st polymer-frame pistol.
Hi Loganicus, I’m so glad you like the video. The PDP is a great pistol. I think you’re going to really like shooting it. I swear by CLP. I think you’ll like using the CLP once you give it a try. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Have a great day buddy.
Thank you again for this wonderful video. I wish I would’ve watched this before I clean my PDP this evening. I’m gonna try that CLP. Oh my shotguns I used to use Frog Lube and thought it was pretty good. I’ll gladly recommend your channel to my shooting buddies.
You’re very welcome. I hope you like the CLP. Also, thanks so much for the recommendation. It helps the channel more than you know. You’re the man! 🤜🏼🤛🏼
I’m so glad you liked the video. Congrats on your new PDP. I want to try out the pro sd. I heard good things. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Have a great day.
Hi K, I’m glad you like the video and it helped out. Thanks for watching and leaving an awesome comment. Have a great day and please tell your friends about the channel. 😁🤜🏼🤛🏼
My man….Hope all is well?! I have to say; I clean my guns almost the same…very good video! 👍🏻 My go-to has been Shooter Lube cleaner and Sig Spec 1 30 weight lube, I use it on my EDCs so the lube doesn’t run down the gun when sitting in the holster. Stay safe.
Heeyyyy AJ, all is well here. I hope all is well with you too. I figured most people would clean their pistols like this. I’m glad you and others are liking it. Cleaning videos take forever to make. I’ve started using break free as a kid because that’s what my dad used. I’ve even looked up which CLP was the best and break free was still at the top. So I just stuck with it. I would say most modern lubes should work well. That’s why I say use whatever you like. I do like that the lube you use doesn’t run. As always AJ, thanks so much for supporting the channel. Have a great day buddy. 🤜🏼🤛🏼
@@UBRArsenal If I had any I would… I have dedicated my self to my family full time and all my friends have drifted off with their own families. I have mentioned at the gun range but very rarely does anyone listen with earmuffs on. I name dropped your PDP review. I am a HUGE fan of the PDP, it has even saved my family’s life at a gas station last year … so it will be tough to change my mind and I am compelled to watch every video I see about it. I found your channel searching PDP reviews. 👍 good luck and thank you for your no nonsense videos about great guns.
No worries at all. I know how it is, a lot of my friends have drifted off with their families as well. Thanks so much for supporting the channel by telling people about the review video. It really means a lot. I’m also glad to hear you were able to defend you and your family at the gas station. It’s a great gun to have as a self-defense pistol. Thanks again for all your support and have a great weekend. I’m really glad to have you as a subscriber.
Great video! Just got my first firearm, a Walther PDP. What cleaning sheets are you using in which you’re able to cut to size? I can mostly only find small 2x2in or slightly larger.
Thanks Glen, congrats on the new PDP. I use the normal 2x2in for the inside of the barrel but for everything else I cut up Scott’s mechanic paper towels to wipe everything else down. If I can find a link for them I’ll send it your way. Thanks for watching. I’m leaving a comment. Have a great day.
I didn’t think you really needed to oil the frame rails because you already added oil to the metal rail tabs. Also, shouldn’t you wipe off the excess oil after you apply as it leaves a film when dried? Just bought myself this gun a couple days ago.It replaced my Glock model 45.With the Glock I always wiped away excess oil and it always ran fine. Do walthers need more oil to operate?
Hi Woodie, I noted in the beginning of the video this is the way I clean and lube my pistols. I’m not saying this is the only way to clean and lube a PDP. I’ve never notice any negatives cleaning and lubing all my pistols this way. I hope this helps. Have a great day.
@@UBRArsenal Cool thanks for the reply. As long as it’s clean and proper points lubed with what ever oil you choose is all that matters. How are you liking it so far compared to your other pistols if you have?
Yup, I feel the same way. The PDP isn’t my favorite but it’s up there. It has a great trigger out of the box and the grip texture feels really good. I uploaded a full review on the PDP if you want to check it out. I go into a lot more detail on the good and bad in the review. I added the link to the review below. ruclips.net/video/Ae3s2ssZ3mw/видео.html
how often do most people actally clean their pistols? is that a personal preference or a hard after every use? after 500 rds? 1000 rds? .... I can see me being a bit ocd with this
I think a few pointers would be helpful. You shouldn't dry scrub the barrel with the metal bristle. Also, changing directions while inside the barrel scrubbing like that could damage it. If you spray the inside of the barrel with CLP and just set it aside while you clean either the frame or slide first, and then come back to it after, it allows the CLP to loosen the grime and carbon. Then use the bristle to go all the way through the barrel until it completely comes out the end. Then pull it back through and all the way back out. You will only need to do this a couple of times before it's clean. The outside of the barrel was way over lubricated. It should have been wiped down. Same with the entire gun when it's complete. Excess oil gathers particles that will grind against the metal of your gun when it's functioning. The biggest feedback I can give through, is please stop lubing the feed ramp. It's polished for a reason, and you are creating an opportunity for your bullets to introduce the lube into the barrel, which could have catastrophic consequences.
Hi LordKinjin, great tip about adding CLP to the inside of the barrel first and letting it break up the fouling inside the barrel. In fact, you can find this same tip at 2:42 in this video. Keep in mind the reason you use a bronze brush is because it’s a softer metal then the barrel. I use the bronze brush because it won’t hurt the barrel going back-and-forth. As for the rest of your pointers, I said in the beginning of the video. This is the way I clean my PDP. There will be others out there that will do things differently than how I do them. This video is to show new gun owners how to clean their PDP. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Have a great day.
The outside of the barrel was not over lubricated. Oil floats debris (grease is the lubrication that traps and holds particulates) and the slide will brush off the excess in the contact areas, like a squeegee, when it cycles.
Sometimes I get some luke on the grip frame when I put it back together, is it wise to use some 91% rubbing alcohol or Simple Green on a microfiber cleaning cloth to get it off the polymer frame grip ???
Hi Higinio, I wouldn’t use rubbing alcohol. That might mess up the finish. Use the microfiber cleaning cloth with nothing on it. The lube should rub off. Let me know how you make out. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Have a great day.
Hi Dolphin, everyone has their own way of cleaning a pistol barrel. This is how I do it. I learned from my father and he’s been cleaning he’s barrels this way for decades. We both never had any issues with this cleaning method. Keep in mind a bronze brush is much softer than a steel barrel. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Have a great day.

Yikes. I feel like I have to field strip
This thing again tomorrow and wipe everything down. Suggestions on the lube off those specific problem areas?
The outside of the barrel was not over lubricated. Oil floats debris (grease is the lubrication that traps and holds particulates) and the slide will brush off the excess in the contact areas, like a squeegee, when it cycles.

@@UBRArsenal - will it be alright if I spray some distilled water on the microfiber cloth, or just clean it with a dry cloth ???
Water should be fine but it should work with out the water. I use a microfiber cloth all the time to take of excess lube off.

Everybody else says that one should not move the brush to and fro in the barrel. One should not change direction while the brush is in the barrel.

@@UBRArsenal it does not harm the barrel, but the brush.
