Got my pdp about a month after they hit shelves. Threw a 507c x2 on her and after 7k rounds the holosun is still going insanely strong. Only had to change its battery once so far. Right around the 4k round mark I purchased the Walther pdp upgraded trigger and threw the sprinco guide rod system with red spring and that's it. The barrel is still just as accurate as day one and honestly looks like it's only seen 1k rounds max. Whatever the hell they used for coating their metal is amazing. Still using the same extractor and same striker. The ONLY thing that's bad about the pdp is the full size, blue follower magazines. The mag springs lose proper strength WAYYYYYY before it's quoted life cycle and will immediately start causing failure to feeds. Luckily, there's a cheap fix that absolutely and so far indefinitely fixes the issue. There's a company called ghost Inc that make Walther pdp specific, stainless steel +10% strength magazine springs for very cheap price. I ended up replacing all 10 of my magazine springs with the ghost springs and have had zero issues ever since. I specifically use 4 of the 10 mags for competition and training and they've seen thousands of rounds and are somehow still just as strong.... The ONLY downside to these springs is that it turns the 18rd magazines into 17rd mags which I'm 100% cool with. Walthers design team shouldn't have went with 18rd magazines unless they were going to properly design the right size magazines. They wanted to stick out from the typical 17rd full size platform that so many other companies went with.

Great video! very informative. I agree with you about the SCS, it’s my favorite too. But, I really wish they would give it a red dot, instead of green.
I feel like shake awake should be standard on every red dot. It's too crucial a feature to leave off. If I'm choosing between two optics that are similarly priced and one doesn't require me to remember to turn it on in a high stress, possibly life or death situation??
Make sure you get a gen 2 SCS. The gen 1's ,like the one shown in this video, don't have the scalloped corners that match the PDP's slide contour even better.
I did ask holosun about that and they told me the first batch was like that but everything going forward is the better one with scalloped corners. It made it sound like the problem was already dealt with and new orders shouldn’t have to worry about it
@@ahnubis_OG Only the very first batch were gen 1. I'd say you would be safe if you ordered one now, but the best thing to do if possible would be to directly contact the vendor and ask them to make sure it had the scalloped corners (gen 2).
@MrPerry61 he is referring to the v2 optic being cut to match the pdp slide better. If you notice some holosun sps pdp housings have a sharp front corner where some are milled to match the slide underneath.
I just acquired a PDP F Series. Will this SCS model work with it as well? I was considering the EPS Carry initially but after seeing your video I’m inclined to get the SCS PDP.
Walther strongly recommends the rmr plate to be used with that optic, because without the plate it will damage the extractor! You are saying the plate is no needed. Why?
Have a pdp pro compact on the way and probably gonna grab the SCS. Wish it came in another dot size, all the rest of my Holosun’s are 6 MOA. Not sure how I’m gonna like the 2. Only other drawback for me is the auto brightness. Guess I’ll find out, gotta try it cause it will look so nice on my gun 😁
I was concerned about that as well, but after almost 1000 rounds, I am very happy with it. I love the fact it didn't need an adapter plate and is grooved to match the PPD, looks and functions great. I have the full size and would recommend both the gun and optic.
Wonder if you can help me out with the Walter factory sights and that SCS red dot do they run into each other on the co-witness I’m looking for a set where my iron sites have some separation from the dot. I had a set up where the regular sites interfered with the dot I hated it got rid of it.
I don’t get this claim of the 20,000 hour battery. What does that mean? That when it’s fully charged you can put it in a dark room and it will stay on for 20,000 hours? That’s not true because people have said that it has gone dead in about 48 hours. Of course it recharges quickly but 48 hours is a far cry from 20,000 hours. Does it mean that when it’s fully charged you can turn it off and it will hold its charge for 20,000 hours? Well, in the owners manual it says it can go for 200.000 hours. Does it mean the battery inside will completely die after only 20,000 hours of use? Because you can’t replace the battery that means you would have to send the optic back into Holosun to have them put in a new one. And 20,000 hours is just a little over two years. So that means the optic will only last you for two years before you have to send it in to get a new battery? It seems like the claims Holosun are making are all over the map. The truth is, it’s a new product and we won’t know how long it will actually last until time goes by. It almost seems like they are pulling a Sig Sauer and releasing something and doing all the beta testing on consumers. That’s not cool at all.
The 20,000 is the reserve of the battery. It’s saying that it’s full charge the battery will last 20,000 in a dark room until it is charged back up again. It’s how much the battery can hold. For people saying it died, it could have also not been charged up.
@@freedomgorilla1 I guess I’m going to find out. I just ordered one and should be here soon. I like the concept of it. I like how low it sits on the slide for concealability, plus I’m used to finding my iron sights on presentation, so that should help me “find the dot”. I like that it doesn’t need a plate for my PDP 2.0 cut. That should make it much more sturdy of a fit rather than using a plate. I actually really like the concept. As an old dog, learning a “new trick” (going to an optic) can be met with resistance. But with my 58 year old weakening eye sight, it seemed now would be the time. I AM a bit of an old curmudgeon so when something “new” comes out, I am hesitant. But I found out how wrong I was with that when I was unwilling to stray away from Glocks. Then I got my Walther. All my Glocks have spent more time in the safe since I got the PDP. Love that damn gun! 👍🏻
I wonder if there's any hope for me sometimes🙃. I just installed a set of XS Suppressor Height Sights on my PDP F-Series. My "6 o-clock" hold is history, now I'm covering my target with the front sight. I have the gen 2 slide cut. What would you recommend I get to put me up high enough to use my sights along with an optic? I've had a Holosun 510 on my carbine several years, I don't consider any other optics.
You can’t use the Scs PDP but there are plenty of holosun optics you can fit with the proper adapter plates. We have 1.0 adapter plates on our website and you can request them from walther too
Shake awake should be standard on all optics. Hopefully that will be the next SCS mod and a 4-6 moa dot. Surprised Holosun didn't offer it now. I don’t leave my EDC out in the open to charge.
Until the optic itself becomes obsolete when the internal battery eventually dies and can hardly hold a charge. Don't get me wrong, I own one myself for my M&P 2.0, but I also own a battery powered one since those ones will go for as long as you have batteries to run them and they don't break catastrophically. And the way things are going, the luxuries of being able to even own a red dot is under threat, so having one that can go with just buying a battery for a very long time as a fail safe is a must to keep on the side.
It’s ok. I had that for my compact, and while it looks really cool and blends with my piece, the window is a little too small for my liking. I had to swap the scs for the 507 comp.
Bought the SCS PDP... Looks great on the gun but that is where it ends... The Button is Horrible and Makes This A HUGE FAIL! My wife and I both tried to turn it on and it was not easy to do. We thought it was bad out of the box and took many tries to turn it on. We finally got it, but it took the edge of the finger and fingernail, which is eventually going to split the rubber cover over the button. The button is too flush mounted against the frame and it does not work with a normal press of the button like on many other sights. There are only 2 settings for brightness and you have to use the same button to change those settings. NO SHAKE AWAKE! The only way to turn it on is with that button. The button makes this Red Dot Sight a HUGE FAIL. If you were in a situation where you needed to draw your weapon, by the time you got it turned on you would have lost the battle. Thank you Amazon returns!! Great Video! Thank you for the information.
These are confusing to understand. They are intended to remain on. You make sense about the button and no shake awake. But the manufacturer says to basically turn it on and keep it on. Even when it’s sitting. It will recharge all on its own so shake awake or battery conservation isn’t needed
You don't ever want to cowitness an RDS on a pistol. It defeats the entire purpose of the rds. What you want are sights called BUIS or "Backup Iron Sights". These use what's called a "low witness" instead of a cowitness. I generally stick with a 1/6th or 1/7th low witness which means the irons will only take up a 6th or 7th of the optic windows body which gives you plenty of room for the rds reticle to sit without being impeded by the irons. The main benefit of using an RDS is that it's a singular point of aim unlike irons where you need to use 2, sometimes 3 points of aim before breaking a shot. When someone marries or "slaves" their rds to their iron sights it completely defeats the entire point of the rds completely. If you go with an RDS you want your irons as far out of the way as possible. They are only to be used in the most unlikely of scenarios as a backup system in case your red dot completely fails. With today's current technology of rds they are so rugged and reliable that they can ultimately be relied upon no matter the situation. I've been teaching pistol defense and fighting courses for almost 10 years and pistol rds courses for about 2 years now. I've yet to see a rds go down from any of my students so far, even with completely cracked and distorted glass.
Heu bud, great video! Im new to optics/red dots an just purchased the PDP F series and just so i understand correctly, if i wanna mount ANY RMR mounted optics, I need to get that plate from Walther you showed in the begininng? Im not sure Im ready to dump 300+ on an optic but wanted to try something a little cheaper like the Cylee lineup of RDO's that are all RMR footprints...thanks in advance!
If you haven't already, don't cheap out on red dots. Go with a holosun 507c x2 or the 407c at minimum. I have the 507c with over 7k rounds on my pdp and it's still going perfectly strong. I think I paid maybe 320 for the 507c x2 and I love it way more than my 500+ dollar RMR.
@@TerminalM193 Amen to that. I pulled two RMR's off and went to Holosun 508T's. I think they are a better sight than the RMR. Even if the RMR was the same price as the Holosun I would choose the Holosun. FWIW I LOVE the green reticles. For older eyes they are much better than red. What is wrong with the legacy makers that only offer over priced red dots.
@@chuckburns3633 I agree on the older eyes. I see the green so much better. I have two of the F series, one 4 and one 3.5". I have 507C-GR-X2 on the 4 and just ordered a 508T for the 3.5. I am new to pistol dots but can say that they make a huge difference on grouping on a target. Once you get your presentation down you are dead on. Shooting with irons is second nature to me so I was skeptic on switching. I might have to check out the SCS-PDP-GR in the future. I would like to see a charge port in that.
No, nothing electronic is going to work after an emp. There are special storage devices and materials you can purchase to keep your electronics and batteries safe from an emp though that are budget friendly.... Both my BCM & SOLGW AR's are fitted with unique optics that will still function flawlessly after an emp attack. They both are considered "prismatic" optics which use etched glass as a reticle that can then be easily seen nomatter the amount of daylight available. One of the optics is an acog which uses tritium vials to light up the etched reticle and the other is considered an LPVO which essentially is an optic that pretends to be a 1x red dot and 6x power scope all within one optical tube.
I want one BAD. but i must say the internal battery is a turn off for me. I love the solar idea too, but why cant it do both? it should. what happens when the solar panels fail? or what happens when the internal battery fails?? eesh.
They made it to just turn on and keep on. It’s new tech so ppl get anxiety about it. In a few years i think many things will be this way when it becomes more accepted
@freedomgorilla1 they just keep pushing it back...I wanted to get one for my canik rival darkside but i guess I'll go with the SRO and possibly pick up the 507 comp later when I pick up my CZ Shadow 2 next month
@@garoristic at shot show they said the end of Q2 beginning of Q3, so still on schedule. I’ve seen people get them on RUclips for reviews so looks like they’re definitely building up the hype for release
Wait, so if this is in a safe and you know what happens (the acronym), the person would have to click a button to turn it on first?! Stop. Are you serious?
Yes but we recommend just leaving it turned on. Set it and forget it. The battery will last as long as you take it out of the safe to charge it at some point within 2 years 👍🏻
Please that little lip at the bottom of the grip is a carry over from the ppq your just repeating Walther's pr. The only difference between the pdp and the ppq's grip is the texture on the grip.
The SCS was designed to be left on all the time, instead of the shake awake. As long as you expose it to the sun occasionally it will keep the battery charged.
The dot reduces to the lowest setting when under clothes or when it's really dark in a bag, etc. In reality, auto adjust is almost always better since shake-awake makes the dot always turn on when you're concealed carrying. You're always moving and fidgeting which keeps it on all the time. Even if you keep it in your truck safe, it turns on when you're moving and braking, draining the power with a constant setting dot.
Better yet would be to have an actual user replaceable battery, regardless of other features. What a deal breaker, I'm not letting my gun in the sun until I am ready to use it.
@Shadow__133 in the weekend, just leave it out in the sun for 20 minutes once a month while you touch grass, or open carry around the house when you're doing outside chores. Set a 20 minute alarm. It's really no big deal. Light shines through the window? Find a spot, this is a nonissue.
@@enterprisecrypto2683 Yeah, over the past month, I've educated myself a bit better and finally decided to purchase one. Their claims align with what you mentioned: a few minutes of sunshine here and there should suffice to keep it running indefinitely, unless you're constantly overriding it to full brightness. I hadn't considered the fact that it automatically dims itself to an almost-off state when concealed or in other lights-off scenarios. So far, it's been an awesome sight, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. But since I was born to complain, I do wish it came with a lower brightness override as well. Would be useful while practicing.
Walther's plate system is very poorly designed, so its really great Holosun decided to eliminate that. Great Job on Holosun's part making this a much stronger lock to the slide. Very nice job, making the PDP a viable red dot pistol, finally, in my opinion. If you doubt this, just search, there are videos explaining why Walther's plate has such a poor design. @@ahnubis_OG if the 3rd letter of the serial number is L or lower on the alpha bit it's V2, or if it's a PDP F it's V2.
@MrPerry61 he is referring to the v2 optic being cut to match the pdp slide better. If you notice some holosun sps pdp housings have a sharp front corner where some are milled to match the slide underneath.
I just got the same scs did the screws fit I have a glock 19 gen 5 mos the screws that come with it are to thick
If batterie broke, is it possible to change SCS batterie?
No it would be covered under warranty
Que es mejor punto rojo o verde?
Que modelo es exactamente ? El que sale en tu video??
I just acquired a PDP F Series. Will this SCS model work with it as well? I was considering the EPS Carry initially but after seeing your video I’m inclined to get the SCS PDP.
The F series used the 2.0 cutout so it’ll work with the SCS PDP
Just ordered it this morning 👍
@@raymundnoel6060 thanks for the order!
Can it be used with a sound moderator ?
I just ordered mine a few minutes ago for the pdp f, from sportsman's.
We have them cheaper on our site
@@freedomgorilla1 how much
Walther strongly recommends the rmr plate to be used with that optic, because without the plate it will damage the extractor! You are saying the plate is no needed. Why?
The SCS PDP would not need a plate because Holosun designed it to be a direct fit to the slide, for the rest use the plate
@@freedomgorilla1 I called Walther again, and they said the same thing. I guess the previous guy I spoke to didn’t know what he was talking about.
Are those Persols? 🤔
The Mrs outer ring is nice
I was concerned about that as well, but after almost 1000 rounds, I am very happy with it. I love the fact it didn't need an adapter plate and is grooved to match the PPD, looks and functions great. I have the full size and would recommend both the gun and optic.
Wonder if you can help me out with the Walter factory sights and that SCS red dot do they run into each other on the co-witness I’m looking for a set where my iron sites have some separation from the dot. I had a set up where the regular sites interfered with the dot I hated it got rid of it.
We aren’t sure of any
I cant get that sight to fit on my pdp even with a plate. It's too long
Any reason why the EPS was not mentioned as on holoson option for the PDP?
You just need the proper adapter plate for it
Will this fit the pdp pro sd?
Yes
That’s a good attitude you have there!
Probably an rmr plate + any of the RMR footprint holosuns
My pdp is 2021 and 1.0,… are ther any options ? I really cant stand the thought that the Holosun scs is now out of the Window for me.
Check out this video Here's Why The Holosun SCS Doesn't Have Shake Awake

@@freedomgorilla1 Thanks for the info.
Thank you for another great video. Any recommendations for defensive night sights that would
co-witness with the SCS on a PDP F?
Thank you. Not really we aren’t well versed in irons yet
The SCS makes all other optics for Walther PDP obsolete.
I’d agree but without shake awake it’s a non starter for me.
I'm afraid the internal battery will degrade and its not offered in a Chevron.
It’s ok. I had that for my compact, and while it looks really cool and blends with my piece, the window is a little too small for my liking. I had to swap the scs for the 507 comp.
@@jason91notchyup that's my most important feature imo .
Very good video
@@freedomgorilla1 I could live with the no shake awake and always leaving it on... however, that button needs a new design.
Which Gideon Optic would have a profile similar to the SCS?
None, buy good optics.
Does the scs allow the stock ironsights to co witness?
Yes that’s one of its main benefits
So if you are in the dark most of the time, this will not work?
. It charges by any light source. I assume you don’t live in the dark 24/7
Well it will be inside a drawer in my nightstand so yeah it will be dark...
Yes exactly. We also have other RMR plates you can get. Also for “budget” we do have primary arms optics which we believe are a great value.
The green dot and no shake awake kills the SCS for me.
Would RDOs work after an EMP attack?
Which optic is best for the PDP F series ❓️
I meant the Scs PDP
Will it fit the PPQ Q5 Match?
No unfortunatly
@@freedomgorilla1 much appreciated for the info and quick response! Looks like it’s hello to the adapter plate and 507c Vulcan!
When will you get 507 comp
I’m told it’s middle-end of June

Wait, so if this is in a safe and you know what happens (the acronym), the person would have to click a button to turn it on first?! Stop. Are you serious?
Yes but we recommend just leaving it turned on. Set it and forget it. The battery will last as long as you take it out of the safe to charge it at some point within 2 years 👍🏻
Please that little lip at the bottom of the grip is a carry over from the ppq your just repeating Walther's pr. The only difference between the pdp and the ppq's grip is the texture on the grip.
I see what you mean, but compared to other pistols that don't have it, I like the little lip 🤷
The only thing I don't like is that button, in a self defense situation, all you can do is the sights.
Holosun ACSS Vulcan (Green Reticle) by Primary Arms! End of story!
It definitely is mighty popular, especially the green reticle.
I tried the SCS PDP... sucked, Just the order the ACSS Vulcan Green, can't wait for it to arrive.
If this sight has the shake awake feature it would be perfect
Agree
Just leave it constantly on...
The SCS was designed to be left on all the time, instead of the shake awake. As long as you expose it to the sun occasionally it will keep the battery charged.
Does the scs have a comparable window to the 509t? Which window is larger?
No they are different. The Scs window is similar to the 507k window size which are the smalller optics. 509t is larger
SUPER.. ❤
No shake awake? That's annoying.
Shake awake would be nice. But it’s ok leaving it on all the time too
The dot reduces to the lowest setting when under clothes or when it's really dark in a bag, etc.
This mechanical engineer explins it well Here : ruclips.net/video/2cJRb8GodJ8/видео.html
Just bought the walther pdp compact sd pro and putting the holosun 507c ACSS Vulcan on it. What plate would you recommend if not the plate from walther?
The video in the link shows the Walther 1.0 plate system. The 2.0 plate system is designed to eliminate that problem.
Walther needs to adop RMR footprint like Apple has to go with USB-C charger 😄😄
Stupid to not have shake awake.
no shake awake, no purchase.
Well fuck. Glad i watched this cuz apparently i have a 1.0
I heard that it’s to bright at its lowest setting, or something to that effect?
