The way I like to see it is, these tools won't replace artists, they'll expand the amount of work and rendering artists can do in less time, which means they can tackle bigger projects. This is a great example of that.

Idk what was more overwhelming, the fact that this really could lead to the end of concept art, or the fact that you made created something already so cool, then made it something SOO MUCH MORE COOLER. I love all the characters but was blown away by the scifi viking! And yes please, the villain version! Your videos are addicting!

I guess thats why this video is so important. It shows that AI does not take over your job if you are an artist (at least for now), since even if it creates something amazing, you can always improve it further, elevate it to a level no AI can achieve.
@@AbsurdShark Except the AI is constantly being improved, and it's trained on some of the best artists in the world. Some focused models produce scary good results that exceed even what some veteran artists can achieve.
I used AI to help me with an image the other day, the results I got were SO much better than what I can do personally, that i felt really "gross" and kinda unnerved.

Fantastic job , I was telling my brother that this tool in the hands of a good artist can be a killer work flow.I like the old viking warrior , lots of story there , what happened to his race of people , how did he injure his eye etc.

These were definitely some badass designs, probably my favorite being the viking with the deadshot one in a close second! Would love to see some villains and maybe more designs. At the moment these AI tools might look like the replacer of human concept artists, but I think for now this will just be another tool to speed up the pipeline and allow us to focus on other aspects of the work, we shall see...
Would love a real time video where you explain how you work as you draw one of these characters. I find these the most helpful in contrast to the speed up painting. Ps The Viking looks awesome!

I’ve saved a bunch of money generating art for my digital card game. I still have to spend many hours in Photoshop but I go from a week of work to just 6 or so hours. These tools are great!

Sci-Fi Viking is definitely my favourite
Concept art isn't going anywhere , it just became a hell lotta faster . Think !!! No matter how fast it gets no one has the time to generate their own characters . People will eventually end up with sliders .
AI tool are a great tools to generate noise but they unfortunately can't make poses or make the whole more than basic pose. Also you need to learn the entire painting and techniques to put the light straight. So as shown in Nvidia conference this last April : it is an inspiration source. On the technical part, those are not actually images but vectors, points on a line with each point having an information and the AI just messes up with the information of each point in the matrix. At the end it turns back the "points" to a real image but I does not actually use images to merge, only numbers and that's is why GANs require less power

It can handle poses now entirely. Do more than noise too so things are progressing at a scarily rapid rate.

That will probably be our challenge when getting old, keeping up with ai dominated way of living. As always it will be about gaining and sacrificing at the same time. I have no idea yet, how I will cope with that!

I've been using ArtBreeder for quite some while and, as you said it yourself, it helps with generating ideas more than anything else. Needs a lot of cleanup, but im the end it can produce a nice result. One of those characters actually ended up o a book cover I did. 😄 Anyway, your videos are the one of those I enjoy watching the most. Cheers for giving us new perspectives for years now.

personally i want to use ai to make concept arts for my characters as not only am i not an artist, but i don't have the money to commission one either most of the time. this would be so helpful especially if i use it as a reference when i do commission pieces, as commissioned pieces are the only ones i would use for my works ever.

When generating the characters, clicking on them is saving it to your account, and then gives you a new one. If you just want to update based on the new settings click the refresh button at the bottom of the screen. That way your account won't be flooded with a bazillion random things you don't like.

Looks like all these comments are from 2-3 years ago, I'm curious about some fresher perspectives on AI art now that it's exploded in popularity
I'm not opposed to using AI for concepts and cleaning them up yourself, but recently many artists have been staunch opposition to AI (which is why I wanna see if any of these commenters changed their minds by now)

The way it recycles original concept art that was fed to it isn't very encouraging. Sometimes original works come trough pretty much intact. The landscape module isn't able to break free of compositions that it was tought with. Same with this - you can't get different postures for example.

One of my favorite techniques except I tend to photobash what I want and let the AI clean up some of it or give me more references from the image variation of what I created. And then I go in and photobash that together AND THEN digitally paint some more it to clean it up. (And possibly enhance it with AI if I fucked up again with the quality👀)

can you use any 'paint' program to do that? I've never digitally painted images so wouldn't know where to start, but have been playing with artbreeder and would love to customize the images myself. I didn't think of doing what you did here but that's frikking awesome dude, thanks so much for sharing :D

I use Stable diffusion Model 2.1 on my Desktop and dont pay for it like over 4 Million Users world wide too.
1. AI Models dont use pictures when they "generate" art its just code in the file that is only 10-15 GB big, the database of pictures they used to train this ai was 1000 time bigger and yes it contains pictures that where not free to use in this kind of manner.
2. The desktop "tool" i use has many extra features like photoshop has, inpainting let me change specific parts of the image like patterns,color or with the discriped in an extra promt field generation of an specific part in the selection.
3. Many people train their own mo9dels right now because thats also an feature you can use, you only need 10 pictures of the content you want and descripe the ai what it sees here and voila you get your own model who is extremely good in making this specific contend and dont mess it up. than you can even combine the original model with yours.... you see where this is getting right.
