I was CONVINCED Ned was going to be rescued at the last minute. I was waiting for an arrow take out the executioner and a bunch of Ned’s men would swarm in and save the day. Because that’s how it works. As the sword was being raised, I was like, “OK, here they come”. As the sword was coming down, I was like, “any second now”. Yeah, that did not happen.

One important detail I missed the first couple times viewing Episode 9 ... and it’s not a spoiler ... is that Cersei tried desperately to talk Joffrey out of executing Ned. The plan to send him to the Knight’s Watch was legit. It was a smarter move politically. But as Tyrion pointed out, killing Ned provoked a war rather than settling Joffrey’s disputed title. In a way, it’s what Varys the bald eunuch was trying to persuade Ned about ... that justified or not, it was better for the realm to accept Joffrey to avoid all-out war. And notice that Tywin wants Tyrion to not only rule as Hand in his place, but “bring that boy king to heel, and his mother too if needs be.” So Tywin recognizes that Joffrey could be a problem.

    • @Sinewmire

only death pays for life. the death of her husband, her son, and the witch are what payed for the lives of her three dragons. it was her own blood magic spell, so to speek.

I've never felt the need to re-watch this series after it ended, but it is sooo entertaining to watch you watch this for the first time. Looking forward to the next season! 😍😊

i really like the choice of edits that keep enough of the story highlights but shows good reactions from Nat... do not feel bad about the "ugly crying" we have all been there

Was I depressed from 2010 onwards, or did this show just make me feel like having a dark cold lump of anxious sadness inside me was normal? We'll never know.

That was one of the most powerful reactions I've seen to Ned's execution! It was a hell of a move in the show, and sets the tone for the George R R Martin's story telling

Watch pub reaction videos later on. It's a pleasure to relive these moments with whole groups of people.
