Just finished installing my lift with help from your video as well as a few other. Started at 8am this morning and finished at 10pm tonight. Luckily my Sequoia has lived in the southeast its whole life, so very minimal rust. Only took 12 hours and more swear words than I can count haha.
So what i did with the back shocks was two giant chanel locks. I used one on the shock and another one on that chanel lock and i zip tied the handles to keep it locked. Then got underneath and popped them loose
I have a 2002 Toyota Sequoia and I put Bilstein shocks with OME springs and I ended up cutting the shock as close as I could under the the lip and just pounding it up through the hole. But it took me hours and hours of failing before I figured that out. Good job! Working under these things i not a job for people who give up easily. 🙂

I put the OME shocks and struts on my 05 Tundra last year. They were rusted like yours on the rear shocks. We just used a sawzall on those upper shock mounts and cut off that stud. Took about 2 minutes on each side.
Good job at sticking with it and getting all those old rusty parts out. Now change those lower ball joints if you havent already! This is VERY important. I also have a lifted sequoia. The lower ball joints on these trucks can fail, causing the whole front end on that side to completely collapse and they tire will break off the truck. The two biggest factors there are high miles, and lifting the front end which significantly changes the angle on the ball joints. This drastically increases the odds of failure. This is a real safety concern my friend. If it happens at high speed, you could end up in a lot of trouble. Or if it happens somewhere out on the trail, youll be stranded there. I would hate to see that happen to you guys. Google sequoia lower ball joint failure if you havent. It happens too often specifically on lifted trucks with high milege on those lbj's. Thanks for the comment! The LBJ's and on my to-do list. I've seen photos and know how dangerous it can be when they do fail. I'm currently working on a few other repairs and upgrades but the LBJs will be coming soon!
@maxwell.peters For when you do get to them, they can be a bear to get out. The tie rod ends and lower ball joints are pressed and mine we re difficult to get out. The two keys are applying penetrating oil the day before you remove them, and then heating like crazy with a torch. Heat was the big one for me. Even with penitrating oil I couldn't pound them out. Once I heated them with a torch for around 60 seconds, they pounded right out. Hopefully that helps 👍
It’s definitely worth it! For the price the Old Man Emu made a pretty good difference, not the smoothest suspension ever but a lot better than what was on there.
I was actually looking at 3rd gens for a while! Didn’t want to pay 15k or whatever price people are asking these days lol. I figured the install would be pretty similar to the 4 runners.
Try some penetrant fluid next time on the rusty shocks the reason the nuts are coming off so hard is they are pinch lock nuts they are oval shaped on the inside
I would use a long bar with heavy duty socket instead of the impact drill to break that nut loose…did u consider using a spacer instead of the shock absorber?
What was the height change between front and rear 6 inch from tire to fender for rear and 4 inch from tire to fender on front what did it change to after the lift
Glad this was able to help! I'm not sure about the VSC / Trac light. Mine came on when I first installed bigger tires (33") but eventually went away. Sometimes I think the sensors get confused. I'd recommend posting in one of the Sequoia Facebook groups! Lots of knowledgeable people in there!

The ride quality is definitely different but good. At first the OME suspension will feel a lot stiffer compared to stock. However, I've gotten used to the feel and definitely consider it an upgrade! It performs better off roading which was my main goal!

The before it's natural for the 6 inch in rear and 4 inch in the front between tires and fenders the 4runners also have that forward Rake

Normaly the centering washer with the lip goes on top of the bottom bushing then rubber on top then washer then nut

The suspension on these first gen sequoia are Just like the 3rd Gen 4runners rear can be a pain

The wheel gap increased 2.5” in the front and 2” in the back! Sorry I forgot to mention that in the video!

Did you have rear air suspension on that Sequoia? If so what did you do to dusable it? 😊
I didn't have air suspension so I'm not entirely sure what the process looks like to remove it. However I do know it can be done!

I paid 1st gen to assemble the front since I don't have the proper tools at home. It was well worth it and saved me a ton of time!

They are Old Man Emu (OME) and I got them as part of a lift kit from First Gen Offroad!

Thank you! The wheel gap went up 2.5” in the front and 2” in the back! The front was super worn out though which explains why it was a bigger change!
Did you changed your cv axle after installing your lift?
Nope! All stock cv axles!

The lift didn’t really impact my mpgs too much but the 33” tires I installed later definitely did!

Why is my 2010 sequoia leaking fluid in the front across the bar that goes from tire to tire. My vehicle has 200k on it
Hmm I’d have to see it but it could possibly be the steering rack. If not, maybe a CV axel?
