Yes, very little info out there on these trucks, part of the reason I started my channel. With most of the Landcruisers and 4runners having over 300k miles and/or priced through the roof, I foresee a surge in people buying the Sequoia/Tundra to build out. @Treehouse Overland We had a 2005 Tree for 3 years previously as family rig, sold it, at the time I chose to keep my Tacoma, now the Tacoma will be sold soon.

GREAT video, got an 05 and love your rig and the video is a big help!! Never heard of the alignment bolt set, on my list! I got the same lift...And SPC's.
My rig was the R&D vehicle for the Rocky Road sliders. They’re awesome, and the hold and protect against full body drops. They’re the best mod I’ve had besides my skid plates.
That's way cool. Yeah I couldn't believe the shit I was getting when I first posted pics on FB. Such naysayers and zealots. The sliders have saved my butt a few times now. Also they could be welded to the frame very easily down the road...
@@treehouseoffroad welding on frames seems to be a VERY polarized thing with should vs shouldn’t. The sliders have been great, and Rocky Road has been around for a very long time, so I believe they know what they’re doing.

I like how you just say fck it I'll do it myself...awesome. Going to watch all your vids. Keep them coming! Subscribed!
Wow. This is a properly built truck. I love all your high quality custom fabrication and the excellent detail in this video. I just bought an 05 Sequoia limited 4x4 with 179k miles for $8500. One colorado owner and very well maintained. I am very familiar with 4runners, but the 1st gen Sequoia/Tundra world is less familiar to me. Ive been researching suspension options for quite a while now. Im planning on building a very basic overland/camping truck with no added weight. I'll be driving off road in the rockies a lot, but no crazy rock crawling. So I really only want like 1.5" lift, as i dont need more and want to maintain good road manners. Im consudering a bunch of options right now. Dobinsons twin tubes, Dobinsons IMS, Bilstein 6112, Eibach pro lift, Fox 2.0, OME. I really don't know what to go with. I tend to like a softer more floaty ride in a truck over stiff or "sporty". My biggest concern is small bump compliance at slow speeds, mainly rocks and washboards, as that will make up the majority of my off road driving. No crazy crawling, no hugh speed desert stuff, no jumping the 6000lb sequoia. 🤯 I moslty want something that isnt teeth shattering on washboards. Ive read that Fox is probably the best for that as a progressive valved shock. But i dont want something that needs to be pulled off the truck and rebuilt roughly every 50k miles either. Not sure what to do for suspension
Thanks it's been a journey for sure. Hit up Josh at www.1stgenoffroad.com, he can help you get your suspension dialed. Tell him Treehouse Phin sent ya!
great vid! my sequoia is first most budget, then daily drive, next work, least important is real off road. just for fun i bungee corded a big pc 1800 odyssey battery right on top of the motor and i think that probably gets to hot. for my work i really need some extra juice. if i need to i can grab my home made hitch basket costom made for skinny battery but that really reduces the depart.(without getting in the way of the door) battery placement has been a real challenge with the sequoia. i will continue tying new things. let us know if you figure it out.
“Gotta let ‘‘em know I’m not a 4Runner” lol I can’t tell you how many times the black monster gets called a 4runner on a daily basis. But the shock on peoples faces when I let them know it’s sequoia is worth it. I wish I was able to get it to Michigan for the summer so I could continue my build but I’ll get back to it eventually. Blowing up the rear diff showing off at the end of the trail that day hurt but my friend sold his rubicon that fallowing week after getting schooled by the monster only running 2wd (no front cv’s) on all the same obstacles he was using lockers and 4lo for so I considered it a win.
Yeah for real. It only happens with people that don't really know trucks though so whatever. How did you blow your rear diff? I been pondering throwing in an '07 tundra rear with the monstrous 10.5" ring gear, but I just re-geared to 529's and added an E-locker so I'll see how it holds up.
@@treehouseoffroad e locker will solve the problem the stock diff holds up fine under normal circumstances..my friends talked me into taking the truck out with no front shafts and after wheeling all day schooling everyone on how bad ass a sequoia really is even with just 2wd on the last obstacle of the day my buddy in his rubicon tries a hard line in 2wd gets stuck switches to 4wd lo 4:1 transfer case by the way 35’s on teraflex kit turns lockers on and finishes the obstacle. In a foolish attempt to show him up I take the hardest line possible and fail the first attempt at crawl speed so I back up switch to 4lo (no front shafts though) to use the reduction and against my better judgment I floored it in drive …truck clicked at least 4 gears and up we went… all 7 people and a full load of gear.. hit the top step on a bounce and the spider gears let go twisting the driver shaft at the splines too lol hence my age old physically of if you can’t crawl up you don’t belong up .. but in my defense I made it up and he sold his Jeep the following week lol
@@theclan4adventures I looked through your past videos for this diff grenade scene. Must've watched 5 or 6 but didn't see this one...A for effort my man. Theses diffs always blow up the same way. No traction, no traction, no traction.... TRACTION! 💥💥💥💥

a.co/d/2yXxfQY Here's the link, but having had this thing for about 6 months now I wouldn't recommend it. It's super glitchy, very inconsistent, and temperamental. Also I've burned through two backup cameras and I can't figure out why. They just stop working randomly. I don't hit them or rip cables...nothing physical happens to them. They just die.
Knock on wood I've actually never had issues with the LBJ's on any of my Sequoias. I I also take no chances though and replace them if needed. A few companies are making bolt on uni-balls but they cost some serious dough

Hell yeah man thank you!
Loving your videos. I'm learning a lot.
Thanks man I'm still learning myself
man the ride looks so smooth!
Thank you brother these are great vehicles!
Thanks for the video and all the info! Hopefully picking up a 2004 Sequoia tomorrow
You're welcome man, you'll love it!
@Treehouse Overland We had a 2005 Tree for 3 years previously as family rig, sold it, at the time I chose to keep my Tacoma, now the Tacoma will be sold soon.
literally the best video on the internet, good job man!!!
Wow thanks brother! Let's keep spreading the word about these glorious machines!
Awesome build!! Thanks for all the info
Yeah for sure!
impressive electrical set up.
Thanks it meets my needs perfectly. Nowadays they make some reasonably priced all-in-one solutions but back when I built it they were ridiculously expensive.
Sweet bumpers 👍🏼. Great all around build!
Thanks bro appreciate it!
This budget is a bit different from, my budget. I love your videos
Thanks brother I got 5 kids so budget budget BUDGET!
GREAT video, got an 05 and love your rig and the video is a big help!! Never heard of the alignment bolt set, on my list! I got the same lift...And SPC's.
Thanks yeah I've been super happy with my SPC's. And the cam eliminators are great, you can start spending your alignment money on gas!
Bro, your channel is by far the best . You are the best, thanks for sharing so much info, and your rig is bad a z z
Thank you fine sir!
So do I
Awesome video dude! One of the coolest sequoia I’ve seen. I have a 2006 tundra Ted
Trd lol
Thanks man, I love those 1st gen Tundra's too!
Good stuff bud. I'm looking to upgrade my 2WD Expedition to a 4x4 Sequoia after I got stuck and couldn't make it to the top of one of our local peaks in SoCal. I'm looking at the 2nd Gen so I can leave the 3rd row seats in and not have to worry about taking them out every time we want to go camping. I like how you just say fck it I'll do it myself...awesome. Going to watch all your vids. Keep them coming! Subscribed!
Thank you my friend, I'd love to add a 2nd Gen to my stable one day!
Daaamn that thing is decked out
It's a really fun truck man thanks for watching!
i was thinking of doing a walkaround again, a lot has been done on mine since my last walkaround. great video too by the way!
Thanks man yeah you've definitely made some significant changes
Sick build
Hey thanks 👍
great vid! my sequoia is first most budget, then daily drive, next work, least important is real off road. just for fun i bungee corded a big pc 1800 odyssey battery right on top of the motor and i think that probably gets to hot. for my work i really need some extra juice. if i need to i can grab my home made hitch basket costom made for skinny battery but that really reduces the depart.(without getting in the way of the door) battery placement has been a real challenge with the sequoia. i will continue tying new things. let us know if you figure it out.
Here's what I did to make space for an second battery:
ruclips.net/video/FgVHam3dzKk/видео.htmlsi=vMJcUIzt02wYMuPX
You just did almost everything. That's awesome and I wish you to be my neighbor.
Thanks my friend!
Sweet content! Love the 4 runner but with kids a grandma need more space .
thanks man I needed more space than a 4R too
Damn you are industrious! I wish I was more like you. Great fricking job on the build man. Love it! Subbed!
Thanks man us Sequoia guys kinda have to be
“Gotta let ‘‘em know I’m not a 4Runner” lol I can’t tell you how many times the black monster gets called a 4runner on a daily basis.
@@treehouseoffroad video were I blow the diff

Thinking of doing a new video using some of the footage I have
@@theclan4adventures I looked through your past videos for this diff grenade scene. Must've watched 5 or 6 but didn't see this one...A for effort my man.
Theses diffs always blow up the same way. No traction, no traction, no traction.... TRACTION! 💥💥💥💥
@@treehouseoffroad yep happens every time.. it’s at the very end of the linked video.. I’m going to redo a few videos now that I have taken the time to learn some basic editing skills lol I have a lot of respect for anyone who does RUclips videos and can make them fun to watch yours have all ways been great mine.. not so much.
definitely need to see all that articulation in action. more 4x4 vids pls :)
I'll have to get on that. I don't know how some guys film their entire family trips. It's hard for me to be filming and present for my fam at the same time. Plus my camera man is my wife and she'd rather be in the truck lol.
Bad ass rig dude.
Thanks man it's been a fun build
Awesome, thanks for sharing your journey!
My pleasure!
She's a beaut!
A week ago I just purchased a 2005 197k miles. Ball joints & control arms were just replaced. Timing belt also. On 33's 6" lift. Billstein front shocks. Not sure what struts. Rear was converted to springs.
A lot of work still needs done. I'm learning a lot from your vid here. Thank you.
How is it running today?
Thanks man is still runs great!
What do you mean rear converted to springs? Leaf springs?
Your sequoia is badass
Thanks so much man
I respect your gangster. Solid build. You got an extra subscriber 🤜🏼🤛🏾
Been a while since somebody respected my gangster...respect
Great job man you're a talented dude, great looking truck.
Hey thanks a lot man 🤙
Man this video is awesome! Great job sir!! I own a tacoma and am going to use some of your ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, yes lots of the front end stuff will apply to Tacoma's & other IFS Yota's
@treehouseoverland hey I was wondering if I could get a link or more information on the quick disconnect balljoints you used for the front swaybar? I'm really interested in doing the same thing on my tacoma. Also thank you again for all the tips they have helped a ton!
Sick truck man!
Hey thanks Roger
🙌🏾Great build man and great video too!
👍🏾
Thanks for taking the time to comment brother 💪
Masterful Sir!!!
Thank you Sir!
Goated video! everything from the build is in the description?
Thanks man. It took a while to put together, glad it's helpful
Wow. Just wow.
Thanks 👍🏻
Damn!!! Great work!
Thanks Benny!!!
Great video and great build. Appreciate the effort you put in this.
Thanks glad you enjoy
What an awesome video. That is a lot of work! Thanks for the overview
Yessir happy to help. Keep your Sequoia content coming, we need all we can get!
Great vid! I have a 2nd gen Sequoia that I'm starting to refresh and I got a lot of good ideas from your build. Could you please provide more details on the stereo you installed?

Here's the link, but having had this thing for about 6 months now I wouldn't recommend it. It's super glitchy, very inconsistent, and temperamental.
Also I've burned through two backup cameras and I can't figure out why. They just stop working randomly. I don't hit them or rip cables...nothing physical happens to them. They just die.
Cool video. Don't you wish there was a simple bracket to put around the lower ball joint? Or even a simple kit to flip it?
Knock on wood I've actually never had issues with the LBJ's on any of my Sequoias. I I also take no chances though and replace them if needed. A few companies are making bolt on uni-balls but they cost some serious dough
I honestly don't remember how I came across your video but I watched it in its entirety. I have a 1st Gen tree and am looking at the front and rear bumpers you have. I'll have to check out your other videos. Sub'd
Right on man thank you
thank you for your video, I really enjoyed it and it was very informative. if you can you make an up date on your Sequoia. My name is Mike and my Sons and I watched your video and they are learning from you. From the Island of "GUAM" we are Pacific Islander.
Dang Guam??? That's awesome! Updated build video is coming soon, a whole lot has changed on this truck. Thanks for commenting Mike
very very nice. good job.
Thank you my friend!
Great job
Thank you my friend
Helpful videos. I run into you when I was camping at Pismo 🤙🏼. I’m going to have to get an exhaust now.. gotta let that v8 sing since they are dying off slowly
Hell yeah I always stop and chat with the Toyota / Lexus truck guys. Man your dirtbike heaven video is sick. Much respect for keeping that spot a secret even though I'd love to know where it is
Truck looks amazing man! LOVE what you've done with the suspension and the color matched bumpers? Ducking premo my dude 👌👌
Appreciate it my man
Great video!!
Thanks for commenting 🤙🏻
Ill buy ur gobi ladder!!!! Im in SLO! Also sweet rig btw. All the bells n whistles but super clean and neat. Def inspired, keep it up.
