  • Hey folks, new episode here, though not quite a traditional review- because I decided to give a gander to MeowNature's recent early access release, Depersonalization- an RPG title which draws a lot of experience from the Cthulhu mythos, and rather specifically- the call of Cthulhu RPG. Considering I grew up on the latter, my curiosity was piqued.

Wow, we are so happy to see our game video being shared! Thank you so much for creating it. As players who enjoy TRPG, we developed this game with the aim of capturing the essence of a TRPG. We understand that there are still many aspects that have not been fully realized, but we will continue to work hard to achieve our goals.:)

The machine voice choice was made for two main reasons: 1, it's cheaper than hiring actual voice actors; 2, it's a homage to coc trpg replay videos that is popular in China. Replay videos are made by average trpg players after they've finished playing a module. Usually, they will use webpage anime dressup games to create look-alikes of the characters and use machine voice overs for all the lines that the players and keeper said. This not only makes replay videos easier to make, it also effectively prevents viewers from feeling cringe and being distracted from the story by amatuer voice acting that doesn't match the character. Many Chinese players who are used to watching replay videos have commented that they prefer this to having actual voice actors in the game. It also opens up the possiblity of creating your own modules and sharing them through the workshop.

Thank you very much for the explanation!🥰 Yes, we mainly use electronic voices as a tribute and to facilitate the creation of modules in the workshop.

Tis a game i personally waited for cod knows how long to happen. A Call of Cthulhu RPG adaptation many of us wanted... And what a bizarre, truly bizarre adaptation we gota: chinese, with TTS voiceover option, stylized over anime and actually following the TTRPG rules with Dice ALL OVER and forefront.
What a time to be alive.

I know right. it's just so weird, and yet- I actually can't be happier about it, at the end of the day.

I think you've sold me on this game. It seems really promising. I'm on the fence on whether I'll wait for it to develop more or leave Early Access - but I definitely plan to play it.

Honestly, I'm just glad you feel like I've provided enough information to make some sort of decision.
They actually just reached a collaboration project for a fourth episode, and have also been optimizing some of the traits from earlier ones too. So, the game is alive and quite well since I last poked in.

@@CritHit That's really great to hear. Steam reviews mention some translation issues as well, but hopefully they get ironed out. This game looks really promising - so I appreciate that you made the effort to give it a video.

I completed all the module except one
It is the damn carnival part where (spoiler)
I had to to try to get the perfect ending of the story but with the timer of day and dusk was a pain to deal with and I think you cannot get perfect ending if you use the same character that already went through the module which I not sure how it work but it difficult as hell
And also I am suffering like hell when it dusk you basically loose everything from fighting ability skills throw and magic not having a fun time

I haven't actually played the two new modules yet. I've been considering making a separate video on it- just as a sort of 'The State of the game', and where it's going- but I might hold off, wait for the full release or more content.
      I'm still not entirely sure.
