You're very welcome!!! Thank YOU for commenting!! 😘 The music was an instrumental version of a Barry White song, I think. Barry White and Mod Barbie go so well together! LOL 😜

Fashion Doll Dreamer, Do you prefer to unbox Vintage Mego Fashion doll's such as Cher or Farrah Fawcett and Toni Tennille or other '70's fashion doll's since most often the box has either already been opened by someone else in the past or the original factory sealed tape has lost its stickiness and the tape has become unstuck from the tape aging so the box is open anyway? I think if the box is still taped shut with the original yellowed factory sealed tape then it's best to leave the doll new in box but if the box is damaged or if the box is not taped shut do you prefer to just remove the doll from her box? I believe that collector's get more enjoyment from a mint or near mint condition doll if she is loose from her box since if you keep her in the box then you cannot pose her and display her on her doll stand. It just seems like a waste to leave a new doll in her box and never get any use out of her since she was made to be used and played with and touched and handled. It's kinda sad to see them never removed from box and never used or played with and just degrading from age and lack of use. Thanks for replying.

Hmmmm.... I think it is a case-by-case thing, really! As you mentioned, degradation often occurs over time... Mego dolls in particular suffer from the dreaded 'Mego melt' and I've seen some NRFB ones where the limbs have actually fallen off or are about to, and of course the clothing is badly stained from the melting. I've deboxed some dolls before the melting sets in and the clothing gets stained and is stuck onto their bodies so that preventative measures can be taken. (I've heard from a fellow collector that there actually IS a way to stop the melting, but I haven't tried that yet and currently don't know much about it.) Plus, the ones I usually buy to debox have very damaged boxes, and Mego in particular mostly used a relatively thin card for theirs that gets easily damaged. I also had some other dolls (Marx Sindy and her AA friend Gayle from 1978) where it was absolutely essential to debox those as their plastic backing inside the box was actually MELTING onto their limbs! But I managed to save them just before that happened. So yes, sometimes it does end up ruining the doll if left in the box. But I also have been known to buy a duplicate doll loose for a pristine NRFB example I have, especially if it is kind of rare or special to me, or if the presentation in the box is really great, (Like my 21st Anniversary Beauty Secrets Barbie that was the convention gift for the first ever Barbie convention in New York in 1980. She has a 21st birthday sash over her that is glued to the box, and the 1971 Talking Julia and the first Superstar Barbie, Christie and Ken among others.) Nearly all the dolls you see in this video were bought loose BTW ... same with 99% of the fashions they are wearing. So pristine dolls and fashions can still be found out of the box if one has the patience and the determination to find them!

@@fashiondolldreamerThe Mego doll's budget line carded outfits and their designer collection line of boxed fashion outfits made for their Cher, Farrah, Toni Tennille and Diana Ross doll's are hard to find and very expensive. But you can only find just a few of them for each doll usually since they made about 12 or 15 different fashion packs for each of these doll's but the good thing is that all of the outfits will fit any of the Mego fashion doll's so Farrah can fit into and wear Cher's outfits or otherwise. It's hard to find other doll outfits to fit the Mego doll's since they are much taller and have different body proportions. The Mego doll's themselves are easier to find new in box except for the Diana Ross doll and they are cheaper than their carded outfits which is crazy when you think about it. Thanks again.

@@Ken-vk8pb: Yes, you are so right there!!! Diana is HTF and expensive, but I got together a good little collection of Mego Cher and Farrah dolls in no time! Please check out my earlier videos where I show them in the Cher dressing room playset! (Trying to sell some boxed Cher outfits ATM but not having much luck, actually!)
