RIP Chris Ayres. He really brought out Frieza's character

To me Linda's was more creepy and menacing but Chris definitely pulled off the character of Frieza, made him sound more haughty and royal

Linda Young has both those traits, and the second even more so than Chris except for the royal thing, Chris does that best I guess. Linda Young sounded like an alien, and like a vicious powerful prideful conquerer than Chris, Chris sounded too british and cliche like someone from a tea party, kind of takes you out of the emersion that this is an alien emperor/empress, that's why I say Linda Young is overall better.

Frieza is physically a woman, his/her species is clearly some kind of hermaphrodite species with traits of both genders though Frieza is mostly a woman, I guess the only reason we call Frieza a he is because there's not a word for both, Frieza's first form is like a queen/Empress an older lady, so Pauline Newston and Linda Young were ideal, Chris's voice was like that of a neatured man, so ironically Chris's voice was exactly what you described, queer sounding.
Wile Chris's acting was great, he sounded way too British like some character from a tea party, he was very Stewie Griffin sounding, plus didn't sound threatening and didn't fit the powerful alien empress that Frieza is at all, the great thing about Linda Young is that she was slithery and lizard like, she actually sounded like an alien, and not to mention her voice and performance is jsut far more aggressive, prideful and threatening, not to mention she is by far the most iconic, so I have to say Linda Young IS Frieza as she is a 100% match to the Frieza visually and personality wise.
Don't get me wrong there might be an argument that Chris is the slightly better actor, he's quite Shakespearean sounding, but that's just it, my gripe is just that he doesn't sound like Frieza nearly enough and didn't really sound like a threatening villain so I would say Linda Young is overall the better voice.
And its the worst and i grew up with that after hearing Chris its a rap

No hate to Linda Young, she's fantastic but Chris really captured the real nature of Friezas character. He feels like the true english counterpart to the Japanese voice of frieza.

Yeah Linda IMO made Frieza seem like he was super intelligent, but was talking down to everyone. Linda’s frieza was bad ass. Quiet, reserved when in control, but wouldn’t hesitate to wipe you out and mock you for it. Him giving goku an elbow to the gut after 50 percent power is the best example.
@FalseHope61 it's kind of the other way around. Linda just talked down to everyone and was arrogant of his power.
Chris/Damian Made Freeza more intelligent, quiet, reserved until he was pissed off which was obviously seen in Chris' clip. You can see and hear his patience wearing thin. Freeza still talked down to everyone but Chris made him feel like he could easily back it up

@@lordkai59 That’s the point. Linda’s Frieza sounded like he purposely was using smaller words as disrespect. Chris voice came off as posh, and stuck up. Honestly, it sounded like the genders were swapped. Chris frieza sounded like a stuck up teenage girl. Linda’s sounded like an evil male who’s intentionally feminine.
They're both iconic and worthy of praise. Linda Young will always be special because it was the first I heard. But Eric Ayers is also phenomenal, to say the least.
Linda makes a freaky Frieza. Both are great, but I'm going with the OG GOAT.
But, Pauline Newston, was freaker and more menacing!
Chris hands down. Not just for performance, but also the excellent dialogue.

Linda was classic. I grew up with her voicing Freeza in the anime and games. Although now Chris does an amazing job and really brings the true Freeza out. RIP man!
Same with me. But I was never fond of Linda's Frieza (no disrespect to her). Among the characters in kai with a new voice, Frieza will always be at the top of my list, thanks to the late great Chris Ayres.
I still prefer Pauline Newston, nobody remembers her take on Frieza! She was awesome!

Linda feels just right. Cold and ready to toss me aside and destroy planets. Chris was an amazing follow up. For me I like to picture it as form 1- final: Linda. Golden and eventually Black: Chris

The value of the original Frieza is not in "Nostalgia" but in the pure tenacity and violent aggression a feminine aesthetic brought to an androgenous and asexual extraterrestrial. Frieza was a foreign organism of pure evil and confusion. Without recognizable characteristics.
Kai itself as a series is literally just DBZ Lite... Which is exactly what it was meant to be. The animation is clean AF, a great deal of appreciation can be given for what Kai attempted to achieve.
But the Kai Frieza Saga was probably the weakest port of the original, and why wouldn't it be? The sheer amount of content within the Frieza Saga being condensed canned into a fraction of what it originally was... It's to be expected some value just wouldn't translate over quite with the same dramatic effect.
If I'm being blunt- many people are fawning over a veteran voice actor who passed away. I get it... I just have to bring it back full circle and look at the comparison objectively.

Chris Ayres. His demeanor, eloquence and disposition are top notch.
Linda makes Frieza sound more menacing and scary but Chris brought out the Entitled, Selfish side of Frieza a bit better.

i feel like for the most powerfulbeing in the universe who destroyed a planet and all the people on it - menacing is better than a tea-sipping aristocrat.
Chris Ayers sounds more like how Frieza was portrayed in the Ocean dub (Pauline Newstone), which has a more eloquent and regal tone, despite Frieza spouting racism most of the time.
I say Linda, because I grew up with her voicing the Galactic Tyrant. Her voice confused you enough as to Frieza’s gender that it really added an alien quality. Her voice sounded so… metallic and otherworldly.

Grew up with DBZ, but Chris, especially after Ressurection F made me really enjoy his voice work
Linda's voice suits the character DESIGN better & sounds more unique, evil and memorable. But when Chris starts shouting he nails Freeza's character and does an awesome job overall. Linda's is personally my favorite.
Little Kuriboh by several miles. He made Freeza not only hilarious, but significantly more evil. Like, goosebump-inducing levels of evil.
I have to go with Chris Ayres. His voice expressed the rage of Frieza much better than Linda Young's did.

Ayres sounds like an actual madman, and it gits Frieza's personality too well.
They both work really well for different reasons. Linda was more sociopathic and emotionless which kind of worked for how insanely evil frieza is and how he truly feels he’s above everyone. Chris’s frieza has better dialogue and more of a creepy tone. I honestly don’t prefer one over the other which is rare in terms of re dubs.
Linda Young. No contest. She made you fear Frieza. Chris made him sound like he's part of the cast of Downton Abbey.
Linda should be offered the opportunity to reprise the role.
I like dbz kai more, i actualy used to think freiza was a girl because of the dbz voice, the dbz voice is just a little misleading, thats why i perfer the dbz kai voice, there both still good tho
