Tennis players have so much advantage coming into pickle and padel. Sometimes it’s annoying for a non-racket experience beginner at rank 1.0 is played by an ex-tennis rank 1.0 player in padel.
NVZ line on the far side should be about 3ft inside the tennis baseline given tennis court dimensions, so was probably OK, just hard to see the line from this angle.
Pickleball is still a developing sport and will continue to grow; how the game is played today won't be how it is played in a few years. Look at how much tennis has changed due equipment and athletic development. PB still has rule changes all the time. I remember paying attention to pb for the first time and seeing the chainsaw tactic, then hearing it was prohibited later. Rules for tennis haven't changed in forever. Likewise there isn't anything like the big 4 in men's tennis dominating all major tournaments for a decade. I am sure there will be eventually. Lastly, while pb is more welcoming in learning curve and less demanding on the body generally (eg. no overhead serve) it doesn't lend itself to as much variation. The fact that they don't play on grass, har tru, red clay, already reduces the variation and different tactics needed to succeed. PB will develop to encompass all kinds of play. I can even see it evolving the equipment to a point where it won't be as loud.
