    All great suggestions, looking forward to using them - biggest challenge remember all of them 😄
    1. Great Footwork gives you options
    2. Premature movement (backhand/forehand) at kitchen - don't overdo it, anticipation is good, but not always, hard to recover if you guess wrong
    3. Grip changes - back of court to kitchen (semi-western/western back to continental at net - but everyone should do what works best for them)
    4. Fitness - stamina to stay in rally and grind
    5. Nerves - footwork goes away, move feet more to get rid of nerves because you control it
    6. Consistency on serve (depth - get returner to hit behind baseline OR move side to side), over time your serve gets better with practice, drops - don't have to be perfect just over net, consistent slow drops that give you time to get to the kitchen, dinks - highest percentage shots and down at feet of opponent so they have to pop it up OR hitting specific parts of body to hit to make them uncomfortable, adding pace can be negative as it will come back faster at you if they get it back
    7. Play your own style - it may be defensive, offensive or unorthodox - even pros play various different ways - do what works for you
    8. Change your paddle based on altitude
    9. Middle ball confusion when playing doubles - who ever is cross court from the ball takes the middle ball, if ball is in the middle, each player covers his half of the court
    10. Keywords - to indicate what you are going to do with your partner as your play - i.e. usually on third hit
    11. Hand signals - similar to 10, things you do with your partner to do set plays

    I got to admit. You have some of the best informative videos for pickleball that have given me results. Other coaches and pro coaches do have info to, but, I can take information from this video today and go out on the court and apply it instantly. Proven results are in the play. Keep up the great videos I am definitely a subscriber and student.

    I don’t know why some people say continental is like shaking someone’s hand. I’ve never seen anyone shake someone’s hand at that angle. Continental is like like holding a hammer. If you were going to hammer a nail into something with the edge guard, you’d naturally hold it in a continental grip. Eastern is the grip that’s like shaking someone’s hand.

    Great video guys. Very informative and detailed. Off topic I one specific shot I consistently miss into the net. The low BH volley at kitchen or close to it. I am a former tennis player and are used to the ball bouncing off the string last with that shot. Could you do a video demonstration of proper form for that shot.

      Sure! I think what you’re looking for is called a roll! We’ve covered on this channel a few times but I have another channel called Cracked Pickleball where we went over it recently. Look for the “Shots Unique to pickleball” video 👍

    On the discussion of staying low at the kitchen line I see a lot of pro players standing fairly upright during hands battles and counters . why is this? I tried getting to the net and staying really low and wide stance which works for dink rallies but not during speedups and counters. Looking at your own video, as soon as you start the speedup, you stand up. thoughts?

    How do you return these big serves? I am having a hard time returning deep

    • @sheaunderwood
      @sheaunderwood  3 дня назад +1

      It’s hard! Sometimes you just have to try and survive those big serves. It’s ok to hit a little higher to give yourself time to make it up to the baseline 👍

    • @joysonmenezes2158
      @joysonmenezes2158 3 дня назад

      That's what I try to do on heavy serve...working on height and adding depth
      BTW, great content... now I am overloaded 😅. Please make more of these ❤

    • @jamesf1525
      @jamesf1525 2 дня назад +1

      Make sure you're well off the end line. Be in an athletic position, knees bent paddle in ready position, just above the waist. Some big serves don't bounce very high. Those are tough. Have to bend to get under the ball or the return goes into the net. Using a good topspin brush of the ball can help elevate the low serve.

    • @joysonmenezes2158
      @joysonmenezes2158 День назад

      @@jamesf1525 thanks for the tips! I try to add top spin but the ball stays so low after bounce it's very inconsistent to get over the net and come up to the net.

    • @jamesf1525
      @jamesf1525 День назад +1

      @@joysonmenezes2158 The shots that "skip" rather than bounce are very tough. I missed a few of those today myself. My solution is to play against that technique more, so it becomes somewhat easier to return that serve over time. We have to be mentally ready for that serve, so it's not a surprise and be in position to make our best effort to return it. Good luck out there!

    Only problem is the statistics say that the team that speeds up is 64% more likely to win the point. But yes, you have to have a ball to speed up.

    • @sheaunderwood
      @sheaunderwood  10 часов назад

      Exactly. Only because they get a ball to speed up. The majority of the time, pros aren’t speeding up really good dinks. So you stay in the dink rally until someone messes up, and then speed it up which of course makes that number higher 👍
