    Great work Tom. I love the update apart from one thing: the speed sign alerts and the non ability to turn off permanently. Agreed it is better but I still don't like the flashing and beeping when the car doesn't pick up the correct speed sign (you're not actually speeding but being pestered). It's so close to being perfect 🤦
    Ps - definitely get them to check your ICC at your first service - mine works very well and definitely not having the issues you're having with lane centering.
    Great video again 👍

    Thanks Tom - I loaded the update overnight. My 2019 RAV4 Hybrid allowed me to set a tolerance above the speed limit before the nanny kicked in - why not here?
    One other annoying nanny device is the front cross traffic braking - I've seen a gap at a roundabout and gunned it - only for the brakes to jam on hard - making me look like a berk.
    I turn that off EVERY trip. But loving the car - and it blows all my friends away with the looks and the quality.

    Thanks again for providing information about the Seal! Just FYI, if you had the AWD version you’d get a hot fix at some stage - that actually makes the car AWD. The Swedish car magazine Teknikens Värld tested the car, and on a snowy/icey surface the rear wheels would spin widely, but the front wheels would not move! BYD provided a hotfix the the TV people that seemed to fix the problem - and that will be rolled out to all Byd Seal AWD owners at some stage. It’s the same with all cars, that until they are tested properly on snow/ice you have no idea how all that software/automation actually works.

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  Месяц назад +2

      Interesting … so the dual motor Performance variant has been able to achieve 0-100kWh in 3.8 seconds purely on its rear motors alone? 😱

    • @UgglemannenFTW

      Strange that the AWD system behaved that way considering there is plenty of videos of BYD tang doing offroad and thats an older car.

      @UgglemannenFTW Месяц назад +2

      @@LudicrousFeed No it seems the AWD system didnt activate when starting from a standstill on a slippery hill. But if they drove it like normal it seemed to activate.
      You can watch the videos they got english subtitles now.
      But maybe the fix improves the 0-100 time who knows.

    • @KajHeGeHaggman
      @KajHeGeHaggman Месяц назад +1

      @LudicrousFeed The AWD system is not always off, but as with most cars if they are not tested on ice/snow they can behave badly or poorly (BYD Dolphin was the worst winter car in a test in Finland, BTW). New subscriber and, as of the 27th of March, first time EV owner (BYD Seal Premium). Thank you for all your hard work. You have basically been my "manual" while waiting for the car. Furthermore than the impressive ADAS upgrade, what impressed me the most was that, after all this driving, you've only dropped 2% on your charge! And it didn't start dropping until you've entered the FWY. I don't know how normal this is or if other EV's are even better on that regard because I have had zero experience but I was under the impression that the percentage drops quite faster than what I saw in the video. Cheers!

    Good video on the changes. I was on 2310 and got the OTA to 2401 today. I don't think the ADAS seems much different from what it was; seems like 2310 already was much better than 2309? The only real change I've noticed is all the alerts (parking sensors, speed limit, etc...) are much, much quieter than they were. Quick question if anyone knows - what is the Dyna version in the software details? The Dynaudio system firmware? Mine shows 4.01.80 both before and after the OTA, but noticing others have it showing 4.54.30 before and after.

    • @LudicrousFeed

    As a customer I wouldn't want to see a normal tablet in the place of my infotainment system. It makes me feel like the car manufacturer just went to another company and bought a few tablets from them and then tweaked the tablets for them to work with the car. And the BYD is a great example of this. You can clearly see all the characteristics of an android tablet from the drop down menu to the home buttons to the return button and all the icons etc... And this is where other companies like Mercedes and BMW for example excel at, they give you a screen that makes you think it was made by the car company.

    Very helpful video. Don't know if this is similar on the seal but had the recent update on the Dolphin in NZ. You can now use the voice command for lane assist. 'Hi BYD turn lane assist off' and 'Hi BYD turn last assist on', - not sure it is works correctly, but if you manually turn off lane assist and try the voice commands it then works. Customer service answered my query about the speed warning system with this:
      Due to Australian Traffic Regulations it needs to be reset every ignition cycle.
      They went on to say that there is potential for an incident if it isn't turned on automatically.
      Isn't there exponentially more potential for an incident if someone is fiddling around in menus trying to turn something off? If it worked 100% of the time, fine, but it's still scanning incorrect speed signs and pestering you while you're not even speeding 🤷

    Hi Tom, great info as usual. I have a Tesla M3 long range and a Tesla MY standard. Been thinking about swapping the M3 to a BYD seal Preformance or premium. What did you miss changing from M3 to seal? In hindsight, would you pick performance or premium again?

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  Месяц назад +2

      I’d still pick the Premium as it represents the best value between the three imo. There’s no doubt the Tesla supercharger network is still currently the best provider and although some of them can be used by non-Tesla vehicles, the ease of the plug and play experience when used by a Tesla vehicle is unmatched. Also, Tesla’s UX is hard to beat when it comes to navigating the infotainment screen and they are to be commended to take on board years of feedback from owners. BYD will hopefully make its own system more user friendly with subsequent updates. Finally the Tesla Nav/trip planning is best in market imo

    I don't own a BYD but I have seen many reviews now including several of yours. One thing that concerns me about all vehicles with these infotainment screens is the distraction caused by working through menus while driving to turn off features that are intrusive or poorly calibrated. In my view this can be dangerous for the driver and others on the road. The solutions as I see them are either the ability to turn off features is unavailable while the car is in motion or the vehicle needs a voice activated assistant. I believe one version of the BYD has such a feature and some basic functions such as increasing/deceasing the fan speed, increasing/decreasing the temperature and raising or lowering the window can be done by instructing the voice assistant. Other features such as turn off speed sign alert could be turned off this way if necessary rather than by the driver navigating screens and menus. It would be a big improvement.

      Getting my Seal AWD in the next couple of days.
      Trading my bmw M8 in and just to let you know,although it’s not an EV it sticks to the road and lane change and keeps you in the lane all the time.
      You can take your hands off the wheel for about 30 secs then each side of the steering wheel goes yellow and a bleep to remind you to put your hands back on the steering.you can just add one finger for one second and it’s takes over again.
      If you ignore the flashing wheel in yellow then it bleeps louder and turns to red.
      Ignore this and it automatically pulls you into the side of the road and stops.
      It thinks you may have collapsed at the wheel.

    The UX of the system feels like a tablet which is useless in a car screen. See Volvo/Polestar/Geely's implementation which is awesome. If the screen is like tablet UI then it feels like an aftermarket fitted system which does not speak about quality. They need to use Android Automotive like Volvo/Polestar/Geely.

      IMHO, Android Automotive Volvo/PS EVs is second only to Tesla when it comes to integration especially with EV trip planning

    They should block screen use while driving, like Mazda. Distracting fiddling with screen on the move.

    You’ve got to be petty out of touch with reality as a business to even contemplate charging for software updates 😂 what’s made worse is the BYD interface is honestly terrible. Hopefully they don’t charge for updates but if they do I won’t touch one and I’d go as far as selling the car if I owned one and they started.

      its only on paper, on most roads Tesla fsd doesnt work. It only works well on HD mapped citires which are only 3 cities in the world, for rest of the world its same as others...

      who buy a BYD for its intelligent driving? BYD is the worst in all most all Chinese EVs. But BYD recruited over 7000 engineers to tackle the problem. Hopefully will be better in 3 years.
