@@oggyoggy1299 oh well, the usual objections people have. You can see them all on the anti-EV RUclips channels. Couple of items worth a mention. The emergency door release in the rear door bins underneath the rubber strip, worth becoming familiar with those. Additionally handy to get grills for the vents underneath the seats to stop things rolling into them from the rear floor (rattling like crazy) and becoming very expensive to recover. Beautiful car.

Great review Tom, lots of detail & information for would be & even new Y buyers 👌
If I would add one thing, it would’ve been the safety aspect of owning a Y & how it rates etc- seriously important factor for someone buying a car like this often to put their family in & the Y is world class # 1 . Once we get FSD in AU it will be a game changer & make it even safer. The autopilot even on my older S without vision is fantastic, probably use it 70-80% of my driving.
Have passed a link of this video onto family members looking to buy their first EV- Y
Very informative without the sales blurb, can tell it’s done by someone who knows Teslas.
Invaluable for those not yet within the Tesla ecosphere.

Understand it is not real life results, it is at highway speeds at 110kmh where range tests are typically done. EVs are very efficient at lower speeds in mixed urban situations where the bulk of Australians drive. EVs are efficient where ICE vehicles are thirsty. Im definitely not against Tesla as Im aware they are a solid option but the silly cost cutting for minimalistic design is a bit much for me. All the self driving features don't interest me at all as I'd rather a 3star safety car without all that at a reduced price, this goes for all manufacturers, just give me radar cruise control.

@@LudicrousFeed If you could explain further that would be great as I'm looking to purchase an EV for my next car. In the regional area I live we are surrounded by dirt roads and though only travelling on them occasionally as we stick mainly to the main sealed roads, it can be tricky on the hilly dirt if a vehicle is one wheel drive. I know that nearly all ICE FWD are one wheel drive and many ICE RWD can add power to both wheels via a limited slip differential, but have no idea with BEV's. Obvioulsy I could choose an AWD BEV but at this stage are out of our budget.

Stuart these cars run an open differential. Torque will naturally go to the wheel with the least resistance. Usually the outside wheel during a turn.
With open diffs drive can be moved with the traction control “braking” the wheel that loses traction. This then bias’ torque to the opposite wheel. This is no different to most cars btw

I appreciate what Tesla has done for the industry as a whole but for me personally I find their looks which I realise is subjective that they all look identical to each other just stretched or squished that excludes the CT. Too minimalist as well on the interior even my teens didn't like the interior. I like a handle to open the glove box and key buttons for key features like fan control volume control turn on recirculation as a few examples. Personally though I don't mind what someone drives for a car as long as it's an EV is the main thing. My next EV for example is the 2024 Kona EV Premium trim because it has the features I want.
