I'll explain as much as I can, what I think is happening; pilot calls for taxi, ATC gives clearance to Lima, but the pilot is probably new in the area and doesn't know the taxi-ways. L and M are right next to each other, so the pilot may have misread the directional signs and tried to go onto Mike instead of Lima. The proper thing to do for the ATC would have been to say exactly where to go, and the proper thing to do for the pilot would have been to ask for assistance in taxiing. Pilot is in the wrong, as it is the pilot's responsibility to know the taxi-ways or ask for assistance if he's not 100% sure of where he's going.
Agreed. Captain Happy needs to work on the "happy" part and realize that it's his responsibility to know the taxi-ways and go the right way when told what to do.
***** Controllers with poor attitudes are certainly not a rarity if you have flown in the vicinity of any major airport. Their occupation is quite stressful, but hey, so is ours. Only 1% of the population can say they've earned their wings. A career in aviation is not for the faint of heart.
The pilot makes a mistake and then gets angry and blames it on someone else. I used to have a colleague like that. I don't think people with that mindset should be flying large passenger planes.
I work in the airline industry and I know first hand just how stressful it can be, We all have our moments, and sometimes we just need a kick in the right direction to get us back on course. The "captain happy" comment was probably just the comic relief he needed. Cracks me up.
In my non-professional and humble opinion, the ATC was just trying to prevent a mistake. The captain wasted a lot of air time there. I particularly loved the other pilot siding with ATC :)
Its normal to screw up because we are all human.. Sadly, this guy is being very hypercritical since he was the one to just screw up. haha! He probably got another divorce or something.. lol
I started flying for Delta in 1988. 99.9% of the guys went out of their way to be professional and considerate with other workers- cabin crew, gate agents, ground crew and ATC. Atlanta ATC and Delta guys are especially fraternal. If my first officer pulled that I'd request taxi back to the gate and call crew scheduling. If it was the captain on the radio, I pity his F/O.
Nothing funny about that. Remember the KLM, Pan am incident at teneriffe. This pilot should need reporting as a result. But hey i'm no aviation expert.
Johan Fasth, they are actually referring to the time. The controller is informing the pilot that his IFR clearance will not allow him to take off until 57 minutes after the hour and the current time is 29 minutes after the hour.
I like the Airport Diagram in the background. It helps us follow along. If you want to correct the text of the audio; they are saying Three South (3S) not 37. When taxiing out of Ramp 3 to the south, you call Ground and tell them you are at 3 South to get taxi instructions to the runway.
A pilot license is synonymous with a pilot certificate. All pilot licenses/certifications have a set of 'privileges' associated. A pilot can also gain add-ons, endorsements, and ratings. A 'type rating' is required for aircraft over 12,500, jet and/or turbine powered. If a pilot violates the rules the license/certificate is revoked and all subsequent ratings and endorsements are also lost.
Nope. PPL Private Pilot License. SPL Sport License. CL Commercial License. There are licenses and ratings. For example, you are a PPL with an IR Instrument Rating. Aircraft are certificated...
"Delta 2422, taxi back to gate. I will come down and meet you there. In the meantime you can tell your passengers that your arrogance has made you about an hour late, at best."
Isn't the pilot suppose to request directions if he needs them, and also be familiar with the airport layout as part of preflight? Why is he yelling at the controller about directions?
***** The pilots said they weren't on Mike, they were on Lima about to taxi onto Mike. Then the pilot got into a rant about not being told where to go, which is not ATC's responsibility, if you didn't request a progressive taxi. The controller was pretty clear on what taxiways the pilots needed to be on, end of discussion.
Kinda reminds of that movie "AIRPLANE"....Announcer 1: "The red zone is for unloading only." Announcer 2: "No the white zone is for unloading." Announcer 1: "Look, don't give me your "White zone" shit, Patty...."
Question: I have heard on several of these ATCs nad they often say something like "You're 57 minutes after the hour" It surely doesn't refer to a time does it? Since they all had the same time if that was the case.
That was great! Somebody woke up with a stick,,,,,, lol,,,, we all know that flight control is a precision practice because lives depend on it. For a pilot to take exception to ATC making sure that his plane is where it is supposed to be on the ground is absurd. He got real quiet once another pilot said his piece. Awesome!
So I have a question for any pilot that reads this or anyone with common sense. If a controller tells you to taxi Via Mike and you are just north on ramp 3 south how would you get to taxiway Mike? Would you taxi straight across on L5 to Mike bc that is the most obvious choice. Or would you taxi on Lima then Mike?
A Traffic Controller's Role is to Control Traffic, to manipulate it. And if necessary, intentionally give false information. As it can be seen in the clip, that particular controller was unable to control that particular element of the traffic. | The issue is this: 2422 was told to follow the MD88 to go to Mike, but the MD88 gone to Lima instead. Result? 2422 ended up in Lima. | The MD88 seems to be getting special treatment here.
"You didn't tells us how to get here!" "Delta2422 behind the MD88 from your right, runway 27R taxi via MIKE and hold short of DIXIE" Sounds like pretty simple instructions to me. Follow the MD88 until you get to MIKE, then proceed on MIKE and hold just before DIXIE for runway 27R.
Perhaps the controller is looking at the Ground Movement Radar to see that this aircraft is not complying with ATC clearance? This radar would give the exact position of the aircraft on the airport surface environment. The pilot making the communication did "blow a gasket".
What he meant to say was that he didn't like his own attitude....and I guess he thought the "I make mistakes every 2 to 3 minutes" comment was a great comeback.
Delta Captain Insane-o went from chill to bezerk in 5 seconds. And he has 50-100 fine folks sitting behind him. Imagine the look his fellow pilot was giving him???
Does anyone want a pilot that admits he "makes a mistake every 2 to 3 minutes"??? So this guy not only has an attitude, but is also an INCOMPETENT pilot!
The pilot is obviously the one with the attitude problem here, not the ATC controller.
+Comet Jockey Dave Absolutely, the controller was nice.
Anybody know the difference between God and a Pilot? God doesn't think He's a Pilot.
dirtcurt1 But if god is omnipotent and omniscient, wouldn't he have the power to be a pilot should he desire that?
Touché
"Settle down Captain happy" hahahahahahaha!!!! Best reply
"Settle down, captain happy" lmao someone give that guy a medal!
Cookhie?
Capt. Happy has DSBU.......
In my opinion, the controller did his job. The pilot was rude...
"I make a mistake every 2 to 3 minutes"? Something's telling me that guy shouldn't be in the cockpit.
Your sarcasm detector isn't working. Get it fixed.
Sarcasm or not, saying that on the radio is a mistake in itself.
Oskar OH
nice comeback!
bovine bear Thanks!
He shouldn't be flying
I especially liked it when ATC sounded like he was laughing a little after the Capt Happy comment.
the flight attendent rejected him the night before
I am fully behind Captain Happy. It can't be easy when you find out that your wife has just ran off with an Air Traffic Controller.
Everything is in perspective now. hahaha
iglooo102
There are other plausible explanation for this childish rant but this seems like the obvious one.
You Tube = Great ... Your comment = Priceless !
That was the best
Lol lol lol!!!!
Respect ATC. Their jobs are way more complicated than us pilots. That was uncalled for by Delta 2422
Agreed. Captain Happy needs to work on the "happy" part and realize that it's his responsibility to know the taxi-ways and go the right way when told what to do.
he said he makes a mistake every 2 minutes, so erm, atc was just helping him with his minute mistake
"settle down captain happy" :D
"Settle down Captain Happy" Love it!
Haha I laughed at this, especially when the other pilot came in and was like: ''Settle down, captain Happy''.
I you listen to the ATC, he is trying really hard not to laugh after "settle down Captain Happy" as well....
doubt you even know what that means, trying to sound all grown-up like.
Note to self: Always make sure that Captain Happy isn't my pilot.
Wow that pilot needs to adjust his Attitude..Indicator
Egyptian Doctor facepalm. But still funny
Right! HIS AI, not the aircraft AI!
@@louist103 your name is awesome
Crikey, very rare to hear a pilot behaving so unprofessionally - I hope this was reported.
Not so rare when you fly
HD-COCKPIT SCENES Your exactly right. It never fails. Everytime I strap into the airplane, there's always that captain happy.
Hahaha
***** Controllers with poor attitudes are certainly not a rarity if you have flown in the vicinity of any major airport. Their occupation is quite stressful, but hey, so is ours. Only 1% of the population can say they've earned their wings. A career in aviation is not for the faint of heart.
That pilot must have been on his period. That was completely unprovoked.
Feminazi please.
Go look for reasons to be persecuted somewhere else.
Aren't modern feminazis just mentally defective people whose full time job it is to seek out reasons to feel indignant?
You're basically redundant.
Mancheeze Pls, I love the women in my family and my own wife and daughters.
You're not going to create hatred between us.
Mancheeze
It appears that he has. You got burnt.
Mancheeze oh my god both of you shut up.
The pilot makes a mistake and then gets angry and blames it on someone else. I used to have a colleague like that. I don't think people with that mindset should be flying large passenger planes.
hahahahah That Captain Happy line is awesome.
And that subtle laugh
No way that is you
settle down captain happy lmao
Pilots like this should not be allowed to fly because they are a danger to souls on board and on the ground. Hopefully this was reported.
Just because the pilot is having a bad day doesn't mean he should get fired
*****
Sherlock.
ATC didn't do anything wrong imo. Captain was sitting in a glass house.
I realy hope this was the last day in ANY cockpit for "Captain Happy"...
***** that's alot of "fucks" in your reply.let's hope that it's only in your langue and not in the cockpit it happens this much :-)
I work in the airline industry and I know first hand just how stressful it can be, We all have our moments, and sometimes we just need a kick in the right direction to get us back on course. The "captain happy" comment was probably just the comic relief he needed. Cracks me up.
In my non-professional and humble opinion, the ATC was just trying to prevent a mistake. The captain wasted a lot of air time there. I particularly loved the other pilot siding with ATC :)
Captain must be going thru a nasty divorce...
guess his (ex) wife had an 'attitude' too
Hahahahahaha. Controller was in the right as was the "Captain Happy" pilot. Awesome.
"i make a mistake every 2 to 3 minutes but my attitude is not like yours" lol
I like how another pilot confirms if he's supposed to be on Lima or Mike XD
"Doesn't play nicely with other children"
Maybe the pilot didn't like the ATC's orientation to the horizon?
I never get tired of hearing this one
Settle down captain happy. I'm gonna use this on vatsim next time some pilot goes berserk in Sydney :D
Adam Hart So did you, and how'd it turn out?
roguishpaladin Yeah lol how's it been?
"I make a mistake every two to three minutes ...". And this clown still has a license to fly commercial jets?
It's normal for a pilot to make mistakes.
Its normal to screw up because we are all human.. Sadly, this guy is being very hypercritical since he was the one to just screw up. haha!
He probably got another divorce or something.. lol
*And this clown still has a license to fly commercial jets?*
They give them speed brakes for a reason.
That pilot on the other frequency "settle down captain happy" that made me giggle

Thank God I never had to fly with someone who sounds like a maladjusted, angry 14 year old.
No matter where you go, what you see or who you encounter, there is always one out there to make your day. Controllers don't get paid enough.
"settle down captain happy" xD
Lol "Settle down Captain Happy" what a fucking champion that guy is hilarious
Nothing funny about that. Remember the KLM, Pan am incident at teneriffe. This pilot should need reporting as a result.
But hey i'm no aviation expert.
Yeah well... that pilot isn't with us anymore due to that horrible incident.
Which HE caused with his bad attitude.
Hats off to the controller who remained calm despite the pilot's attitude
"I make a mistake every 2 to 3 minutes"
Maybe he shouldn't be a pilot
Indeed.
Lucky he's still flying and not on an impact course with the ground... Assholes should NOT be pilots.
"Settle Down, Captain happy"... jajajaajjajajasasjajsajsjs my night is done bye¡¡¡
"my attitude is not like yours" oh the irony
Johan Fasth, they are actually referring to the time. The controller is informing the pilot that his IFR clearance will not allow him to take off until 57 minutes after the hour and the current time is 29 minutes after the hour.
The other pilot stay my hero !
if you're being emotional like that as a pilot you shouldn't be a pilot
Thank you, golfcharlie for an interesting post, and also for your comments.
The answer to your question is Adobe Premiere. Take care.
I like the Airport Diagram in the background. It helps us follow along. If you want to correct the text of the audio; they are saying Three South (3S) not 37. When taxiing out of Ramp 3 to the south, you call Ground and tell them you are at 3 South to get taxi instructions to the runway.
How dare that controller be calm and polite! NOT!
The FAA needs to add "Assholery" to the list of hazardous attitudes.
A pilot license is synonymous with a pilot certificate. All pilot licenses/certifications have a set of 'privileges' associated. A pilot can also gain add-ons, endorsements, and ratings. "Settle down Captain Happy." 😂😃👍
"I make a mistake ever 2 to 3 minutes..." And that is why I don't fly delta.
"Settle Down, Captain Happy....." hahahaha I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD!!!
my brother is an ATC in Atlanta. He works with that guy. IIRC the ATC's name is Lewayne.
Loved that Settle down Captain Happy :D
What a rude pilot!
I wouldn’t want to fly with the guy who makes a mistake every 2-3 minutes that’s a very precise figure 😂😂
Kinda reminds of that movie "AIRPLANE"....Announcer 1: "The red zone is for unloading only." Announcer 2: "No the white zone is for unloading." Announcer 1: "Look, don't give me your "White zone" shit, Patty...."
Hahaha I remember how they were fighting throughout the whole intro in the background ahahaha
And how it eventually deteriorated into, "I know what this is really about. You want me to have an abortion."
Captain Happy... love it!
i remember when VAS Aviation captured this moment also.... lol, nice to see another channel with the same content
He wanted the shotgun seat and the first officer would not give it up.
Question: I have heard on several of these ATCs nad they often say something like "You're 57 minutes after the hour"
It surely doesn't refer to a time does it? Since they all had the same time if that was the case.
Love that other pilot "settle down Captain happy"
That pilot should get a slap in the face. And wake up to reality
That could only be the result of an argument with his wife when he left the house, I know the symptoms been there many times.
His wife is probably banging a black baggage handler she met at his company picnic. LOL
Gamebreaker08 Why does his skin color make a difference?
That was great! Somebody woke up with a stick,,,,,, lol,,,, we all know that flight control is a precision practice because lives depend on it. For a pilot to take exception to ATC making sure that his plane is where it is supposed to be on the ground is absurd. He got real quiet once another pilot said his piece. Awesome!
Another pilot that is not satisfied with his salary…
The pilot of that plane was ProductForce94
Whoever wrote the captioning got some of it wrong! Delta 2422 reports he's at ramp 3-South and reports he has ATIS Quebec!
"Settle down, Captain Happy."
LOL! Somebody forgot their coffee that morning...
..."I make a mistake every 2-3 minutes..."
Never flying again.
The controller (ATC) has a problem. Not captain happy. Im behind you captain. Its okay to correct him. Its your job. Well done captian.
Hey, where did you find the diagram of the taxiways AND the gate designations.
all the captain fault, the atc just doesn't want to mess up the sequence because it makes life harder for everyone in the airport
A Traffic Controller's Role is to Control Traffic, to manipulate it. And if necessary, intentionally give false information. That pilot must have a throbbing hemorrhoid.
Guywithcrazyideas hahahhaha first time I've ever heard that one. Well played!
The pilot had the attitude not the controller.....lol.... I wouldn't want to be flying with him on that day.
It's a Delta pilot at Delta's home field. It doesn't exactly inspire much confidence in Delta's screening process for hiring.
The other pilots joining in making fun of that guy made it perfect! haha!
"You didn't tells us how to get here!"
"Delta2422 behind the MD88 from your right, runway 27R taxi via MIKE and hold short of DIXIE"
Sounds like pretty simple instructions to me. Follow the MD88 until you get to MIKE, then proceed on MIKE and hold just before DIXIE for runway 27R.
Anybody know if the pilot was reprimanded?
Perhaps the controller is looking at the Ground Movement Radar to see that this aircraft is not complying with ATC clearance? This radar would give the exact position of the aircraft on the airport surface environment. The pilot making the communication did "blow a gasket".
What he meant to say was that he didn't like his own attitude....and I guess he thought the "I make mistakes every 2 to 3 minutes" comment was a great comeback.
Just upgraded from a cesna 172
That pilot has anger management issue. The ATC ground controller was cool and collective!
The captain forgot to take his "Happy" pills that morning
That pilot needs to be fired. Absolutely no call for his outburst. I'd hate to be in his airplane!
On his third divorce no doubt
Wow the attitude of that pilot.
Those who call you for attitude when they dont have anything to say are the ones with attitude
"I have a number for you", :)
The pilot freaked out a little, I laughed all over the place when he said "Like, my god, there's another plane out there" XD
Delta Captain Insane-o went from chill to bezerk in 5 seconds. And he has 50-100 fine folks sitting behind him. Imagine the look his fellow pilot was giving him???
"Looks like you joinin' Lima."
Does anyone want a pilot that admits he "makes a mistake every 2 to 3 minutes"???
So this guy not only has an attitude, but is also an INCOMPETENT pilot!
