That was great information, as an owner operator. I was definitely working my way towards this. Definitely have to get other people out of your pocket the way how things are going.
Hey Miranda, I really appreciate all the info, but the shipper ussually don't wanna work with the small owner operator companies, can you make a video on how to deal with them and convince them to give us direct load??
They’re doing you a favor as you don’t have the proper insurance, bonds, or capital to cover your buttocks in an event that the freight is compromised. That’s where brokers come in. You wouldn’t want these shippers coming for your neck. You wouldn’t go to court without a lawyer or drive your car without insurance coverage would you ?
You just saved me tons of time & headaches with this info ! Although it will upgrade my plans,I hope it works even better for you. You deserve it with all of the info you share... FOR FREE !!!! On your way to 100,000 subs plus.
You found a great way as well for freight brokers to connect with shippers! Unless I didn’t understand this properly on “direct shippers” only work with carriers and dodge brokers…

I could kiss you. I've been searching for years and could only come back to CH Robinson having their hand in most contracted lanes or just a dead end. Thank you so much
Not a bad idea but a good shipper that has loads with good rates and pays in 30 days doesnt need DAT. Probably a shipping manager that was a broker in a previous job might use this for ugly commodities. Good luck tho
Thanks for sharing Miranda. Unfortunately, 98% of viewers will realize that they are unable to work with worthy direct shippers due to several barriers: (1) age (2) capacity (3) insurance requirements(4) at least 30 Days non-factorable payment periods (5) different load systems/practices
Yes unfortunately direct customers definitely come with tons of responsibilities, a one man show it’s very far fetched when product needs to be moved it has to move, you’d more than likely need an small network of trailers and multiple drivers day/night and on call so that hrs of service won’t be a factor
I disagree. Most medium to small shippers pay weekly. At least from my experience pulling flatbed. Some even pay the day load delivered. Scott’s for example. Some even offer quick pay for 2% to 5% off invoice. Van, yes harder to get direct shippers but you can. You have to sell yourself and your service. Some won’t work with new carriers but a lot will. Find the lanes you want to run, the products you are most comfortable hauling and cold call or stop in. Be surprised what can be achieved.
@@RH-zg9tx Hey, thanks for value adding comment! Yah, I am working on direct shipping obtainment and shared my recent experience. Biggest challenge to me as of now is the lack of time due to driving. However, first results already there. Next week taking 4 days home to work on new direct shipping development.
If the shipper is on the load board chances are they are cheap. Now everyone will click her link to sign up for DAT for something that’s been there for ages and go after the same shippers that are not onboarding carriers right now. She in return will get paid for her referral link being used. Y’all have to wake up or get out the industry because you are killing it.. lack of knowledge
If you book directly with these or any others how do you know a factoring company will be good with it? Because you might not be able to look up their credit rating right? Just run it, send in the POD and cross your fingers?
The water truck load, Chicago to Vermont, paid $2350. Using their info., that comes to $2.492 per mile. I guess that beats $1.50 pm! Whata you think? Would you ask for more?
im curious when drivers go to google to look for loads what search queries do you use in google? Do you just put in "load board" or "trucker load board" or something completely different?
Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing this cause I definitely ignored that thing on DAT. Great to see you studied psychology at university and yeah abnormal psychology especially DSM turns you into a brilliant researcher. I studied Psychology as well and it helped in this industry.
Being a dispatcher can we directly take loads from the shippers to our carriers??? Is that possible?? If yes then how? Can you please make a video on that like all the steps, starting how to book a load how to talk what to say a shipper, ?
I'm an OO that uses a dispatcher to get loads. At the beginning it was fine until I started to see lackluster from him so I realized that I need to jump into the next stage in order to get better loads.
