It's a misdemeanor under $950, & most DA's won't bother prosecuting. About the worst that will come of it is you get a stay-away order from the establishment. The same can be accomplished simply by the manager telling you that you're not allowed back in the store again. If you show back up, you can be arrested for trespassing. Keeps the courts & the jails from being clogged up. It sounds like a strange system, but it (kinda) works. ✌🏼

I worked as a max sec guard in men's prison a few months (alive today thanks to inmate good behavior). Training included being hit with a baton, gassed in a shack, and pepper sprayed. To this day I am surprised that didn't blind me. I had chemical burns at my hair line. It was the worst experience. I think the spray is stronger than what the public can buy. It's usually reserved for riots. In the 5 months I was there I'd not witnessed nor heard of anyone having it used on them.

Winco is an employee owned discount supermarket. They carry all of the normal stuff, with expiration dates. The produce is usually hit and miss, but the meats are on point. The bulk section is extremely good, especially the spices. Also the employees you talk to in the store might be the person who does the ordering for that department, and you can ask for special orders.
I live in Lancaster. That same sheriffs officer once responded to a call at my parents' house. I'm glad he didn't go all agro on us that night
