Don’t forget to wish President Nelson a happy birthday 🫡🎉 I’m currently working on the Rebuttals for the Annual Meeting and the October Broadcast, so stay tuned!
My best friend grew up Mormon and was a lesbian and was kicked out of her religion. She died in a horrific crash December 10, 2020 and it pisses me off to hear this guy talk about homosexual relations and not going to heaven she was heart broken when they kicked her out. When she came out to me she was crying and said she was going to hell she truly believed that it was so deeply pushed into her by her religion. This is sick. I had to console her and tell her that no she would not go to hell and that she is a faithful Mormon she would go to heaven. I hate religion.
My condolences :( This sounds heartbreaking. Your friend deserved a longer life, with love and happiness, not with religious discrimination or horrible misconceptions about love.
@@Tabascofanatikerin thank you. I miss her so much. I agree she deserved better so do all of those that have been treated just like her. It’s truly heartbreaking. 💔 sending you love.
Women are leaders in name only. They have absolutely no power and are figure heads only. As a matter of fact women are not allowed to gather together in the ward buildings without a man with the priesthood being present. Technically a 12 year old boy has more power than the women who are “leaders”. However Mormons would argue this point saying all kinds of nonsense like “women are too good and don’t need the trials of being a priesthood holder” etc. Mormon women don’t have much more power than JW women.
Unfortunately, I can verify what Sundiefortner says here. All women need the verification of men for any of their decisions to be carried out or enacted in any way.
Here to explain the 12 y/o bit for any confused non Mormons: so theres these powers god gave to Joseph called the “priesthood“ the best way i can describe it is it’s like a disease, you can give it to others but it only applies to men. These powers include but are not limited to: blessing babies, children, women, and other men(it’s basically a prayer but more ‘holy’), giving other men the priesthood, “healing” the sick with magic oil, blessing and passing the bread and water and if you’re high up enough you can be in charge of managing other people’s positions (changing them, or making non-volunteering members work for a department in the church) i remember being so jealous of the boys my age because they got this cool new power and i didn’t because i was “too worthy as a girl” 🙄
I used to think they got a portion of the priesthood because they gave washings, annointings and endowements on the temple, but the only reason was for modesty and they can't deviate from the pre-written ceremony.
Ex Mormon here. There’s no position of leadership in the church a woman can hold that presides over a man. Women lead women. Men lead women and men. Technically it’s true a boy has more “power” than a woman, but being a child he does not have more “authority”.
Hello, Ex-Mormon here! I have a few details to share with you. 1.) I started watching your channel because I resonated and empathized with the striking similarities between the practices of JW leadership and LDS leadership. 2.) While it is true that there is the appearance of women being in positions of authority, the reality is that they functionally have no power at all. Everything they do and say is supervised and has to be approved of by the male leadership. The men have 100% control over their funding, meaning if they don't like an idea or program they can just refuse to provide any money to it, and they have complete veto power on ALL decisions that women in the church are allowed to make. The only reason there are women in "power" in the LDS church, is so that the men can use them as additional mouthpieces and surrogates to keep the female portion of congregations in check while appearing to be progressive. Pay close attention to what female speakers in conference say-all they EVER do is support the patriarchal system and perpetuate the harmful ideology of submission to the men in their lives, be it fathers, bishops, or husbands. Up until 2019, LDS women literally covenanted in the temples to obey their husbands. They only changed it because the LDS church has been hemorrhaging female members. 3.)Prophet worship is so very real in the church. In fact, in this most recent conference last weekend, Russell M. Nelson (the current Mormon prophet) was quoted 58 times, while Jesus Christ was quoted 55 times. Yikes. Active members don't see it as prophet worship however, because they are taught to believe everything the prophet says is coming directly from the mouth of Jesus Christ. Double yikes. 4.)The "don't call the church Mormon" thing is so stupid and funny. It is the direct result of Nelson's feud with and disdain for one of the previous prophets, Gordon B. Hinkley. When I was a kid, and Nelson was just an apostle, he tried to give a talk in conference about that exact thing, that we shouldn't let people call us "Mormon" and Gordon B. Hinkley, who was the prophet then, corrected him in public in a pretty embarrassing manner for Nelson. THEN Hinkley went on to spend millions of dollars promoting the name Mormon, and taught members that "Mormon means more good!". His sucessor Thomas S. Monson continued the trend of embracing the nickname 'Mormon', and then when he died and Nelson finally came to power, Nelson literally declared it a "Major victory for Satan" when the church is referred to as Mormon. It's all so stupid. X'D Please, nobody join this cult. Because it absolutely is a cult. I'm so glad I woke up. (Edited misspelled words)
As another ex-mo, 100% accurate. I remember that talk in the 90s. He's trying to outdo Hinckley in Temple building as well because he will always have an inferiority complex for Hinckley. (Edited because I typed interiority 🤣)

Yes, this sounds stupid. I looked it up again, the tithing is the part of your money (in the bible it's also meant a tenth of your belongings like harvested goods) that goes to the church. If it were up to me, I'd say "This supports the poor but whoever is already poor shouldn't have to pay because they simply can't". But no, it's for the church, for THE LORD (like he needs any money). That's why I have a personal dislike of these organized churches with their collection of wealth, they're more pyramid schemes (like the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Catholic Church and the infamous US-American Prosperity Churches) so a few men can get richer and richer by the day.

Hello, Ex-Mormon here- it’s taught that God will "preserve" whichever man is meant to be the prophet, by keeping him alive the longest. And then, because it IS a cult, there are multiple thought-stopping and emotional manipulation tactics that prevent active members from questioning the practices.
Many members have different excuses for this. The one in the house hold I currently live in is that God gave them the system himself through the prophet Joseph Smith, so God automatically gives authority and title according to the rules. Also, a prophet is determined based on "Authority" directed through a system and not based on merit; which I don't particularly like.
This is essentially it. They refer to the "magical prophecy powers" as the "prophetic mantle". Keep in mind that while they are referred to as "prophet", they don't actually make any predictions about the future or anything. It's more a title given to people in the highest authority positions in the church.
I'm an exmo and while on my mission in Mexico I ran into JWs from time to time, and I thoigh they were enemy #1. But after watching your videos we've a lot more in common than I thought, especially with our geriatric corporate board leaderships 😆

He can afford the best medical care. That’s what happens when you’re in charge of a cult that enforces tithing even if people are struggling to pay their bills and buy food.
One of Jimmy Carter's goals in life was to outlive the last guinea worm. That's the one where the worms lay eggs in your skin and then form burning blisters, which cause you to go to the nearest water source to stop the burning, which releases the larva back into the water to continue the cycle. His foundation has reduced the number of yearly cases to double digits through sanitation. It's too bad he wasn't able to be an effective president, because he's a great man. He's not quite going to outlive the last worm, because they live in animals too, but they've still made so much progress.

Not gonna lie, I was spaced out when I started the video and missed the whole part that this was about Mormons. So when my brain finally tuned back in and all the birthday celebration stuff was happening, I was like, "Wait a minute.... I thought JWs didn't celebrate birthdays..."
I loved the Scooby-Doo laugh lol!! And I cringed at 11:30 when he talked about his eternal family, and of course all the polygamy. It was fun learning about our cult cousins, especially since most of my extended family is/was mormon, thanks Panda 😊
I was LDS (Mormon) until I was 11 when I chose to leave the church since I had been going with my grandparents, while my parents are not religious. It was a strange experience. Also hearing you talk about the religion I was raised to dedicate my life to while playing undertale music in the background was fucking HILARIOUS
As a Latter Day Saint I know I’m probably not very welcome here but there are some things I want to clear up. We don’t worship president Nelson, we worship God. It was his birthday so that’s why he was the main focus. Also, we aren’t a cult. People can freely join and leave, tithing isn’t forced, in fact you have to schedule the appointment to pay it. Our belief is that everything on earth belongs to God because he made it, and we should show gratitude by giving 1/10, and show our trust because in return for giving back to Him, we are blessed. It may sound stupid, or imagined, but I am rational and open minded and have seen the blessings that it has brought to many people I know. Again, I know it sounds cringe to you but to us it’s not. I just want to make it clear I’m not trying to preach or convert or anything just clear up misconceptions and misinformation about the church because there’s a lot of it online. The next thing I want to mention is that president Nelson isn’t a “supreme leader”. The quorum of the 12 has to be in FULL 100% agreement on every decision the church makes. Also, us tithepayers know where our money goes to: the building of temples all around the world where needed, education programs, and a LOT of humanitarian. I know I’m jumping around here but as for calling us a cult, definitionally we aren’t. Unless you consider the definition that’s like “devotion directed toward a particular figure or object” then yes, we are devoted to God just like any other Christian church. As for the name “Mormon”, that actually originated as an insult to us and then we adapted it as a name to distinguish ourselves. However, we want to honor Jesus in the church’s name so officially it’s “the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints”. Anyways, you should stop making fun of us in your videos because we aren’t even a cult and some of the things we believe might seem weird to you but its like other cultures: they have their own beliefs and practices and its rude to make fun of them, misrepresent them and stuff like that. Anyway I’m not trying to be rude or anything but that’s my perspective.
Hey, closeted ex mormon here to share a few things- 1: the women are only figure heads, they only have control over making speeches or lessons for their lower ranks. And 2: the Mormon afterlife is a little different-basically the celestial kingdom is Mormon heaven and the turestial kingdom is where people who accept Jesus in their heart go (it’s a neutral afterlife) and the telestial kingdom which is where everyone else goes. So in theory someone who actively hurts others but represents to Jesus will go to a better place than an atheist who volunteered at animal shelters and fed the homeless.
Awesome job breaking down the manipulation tactics here - this is probably my favorite video you've done on Mormonism yet! Keep up the good work cult cousin 🫡
I have a Mormon friend. She and I ask about the other's religion sometimes (I'm Baptist). She's currently serving a mission in her hometown. One of my former high school classmates is Mormon, and he's serving in Hawaii.
We stopped a few months ago going to the KH thanks to you and other like critical thinker, but the funny thing is after we stopped the Mormon start visiting us, I’ll I was about to give them a opportunity (I need to find a job and not JW help me whatsoever) and my wife jumped and said hell not, not leaving a controlling cult to join another 😂 true story
Jerry rig, mark rob, and what's inside are all mormons. There's tons of other who tend to be influencers and there's a few reasons why this could be. Mainly being that the church has money to spend on people with a reach to diversify their investments and hoping some of those fans would convert to be like X because their life looks perfect behind a camera. Mormons love looking perfect and putting themselves out there as the perfect person. Sadly I can't say the same about my mormon roommate, she makes it seem like I grew up in a prison as a ex catholic....meanwhile at least we could marry anyone, drink, and not go to hell for drink coffee.
4:04 the mainstream Dutch reformed Church my mother grew up in (and we still go to during the holidays) is also “Please stand if able” when singing certain hymns.
@ It’s very true. It’s because as members of Jesus Christs Church, we covenant and are taught to do good among our fellow men, and as we do so, then we are blessed by God. The reason why President Nelson has been such an amazing Heart Surgeon is because of his obedience to Gods commandments, especially the ones that say Love God with all your heart, and love your neighbor as yourself. Truly my life has been blessed by our prophet, and as you said he has truly blessed others lives through his work as a heart surgeon.
The stake presidents are actually called by the twelve, the seventies are sent to investigate and find who are the proper options then give them to a member of the twelve.
A Ward is a single congregation assigned to a church building. Example I went to a church building 2 miles away as part of Ward A. After the first hr of my ward’s meeting Ward B came in for their first hour meeting. Wards get rotated schedules yearly, so up to 3 can use the same church building. One early morning, another starting around noon, and the last later in the afternoon. This is typical in Utah because of how many Mormons there are. In other states/counties it’s usually 1 ward using a single building.
19:50 so I looked it up, because I hate being wrong, and it looks like “tithe” does come from a couple words that mean tenth. There’s an old English word and Hebrew word I’m not going to attempt to spell from some cursory googling. It does seem like there’s a lot of debate about the amounts but 10% is a minimum as far as the churches I went to (Pentecostal, Baptist, and Mennonite). The Mennonite church needed it the most, they always seemed to be on the verge of shutting down. In Bible times, you sacrificed what you could or your fields wouldn’t grow and your cattle would drop dead. Or something like that.
20:38 Imagine. Just imagine the Ego Nelson must possess since the guy is literally worshipped like a literal god on earth funded by the poor in destitute countries. I respect the guy for his success in being a earthily Mormon God Like prophet yeah but just the fact i was part of the church for the whole year and then left because I hated the requirement's that was put on me in order to win Gods love in this life. I always felt guilty but I am glad that I am not part of any church like this anymore. Now I find peace in learning about Buddhism
There is not one single account in the Bible where a prophet was celebrated! Not even Noah, Moses, Jonah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, or John the Baptist! Jesus was the only 'prophet' who was celebrated while living, but that is because He was much more than ''just'' a prophet! Therefore, the Mormons prophet celebration is un-Biblical!
Actually to clarify it will be dallen oaks who will be the next profet. And boy did his talks on gay people really make my blood boil. So we all have that to look foward to.

It really broke my heart realizing the loneliness and isolation the religion causes, but I'm happy you're away from that. Thank you for your channel. I've learned alot.
Being a current PIMO member who started deconstructing a few years ago, i dont recall previous "prophets" having birthday celebrations like this. Ol Rusty comes across as a vain and narcissistic old man. Ive known so many people that hsve left or deconstructed the church ever since he came into power. People in the church are finally slowly waking up to see thr scam. Im still stuck in it sadly tho 😔
My father had a Mormon business partner who’s dead from COVID now, but when I visited America on dad’s business trip his business partner showed me “evidence” Jesus had been to America (Native American rock carvings) which was wild to me as an Australian tourist kid who never encountered Mormons in person until then. Wait didn’t Jimmy Carter just celebrate 100 looking like a mummy? How is this man so functional and alive?
The comfort of taking 10% of the income of millions of people is good for stress and health.
He can afford the best medical care. That’s what happens when you’re in charge of a cult that enforces tithing even if people are struggling to pay their bills and buy food.
There's a saying in my native language "a bad dog never dies", referring to someone wretched who refuses to die
@@savvassimitsis9090 we have the same saying but it’s about plants “Hierba mala nunca muere” and you’re so right

Also hearing you talk about the religion I was raised to dedicate my life to while playing undertale music in the background was fucking HILARIOUS

They baptize the dead to hold it over your head and prevent you from becoming an apostate
Hello 👋🏽 you’re always welcome here! Thank you for taking the time to comment :)
@@exjwpandatower Thanks

Still kinda fucked up you wouldn’t allow blacks into your church until 1978.😂
@@gamingforever9121 there were definitely darker skinned men and women in our church long before 1978😭😭 idk where you got that from..

Vampirism tends to clear the mind a little bit of the fogginess of age.
For 100 years, he's still quite crisp in his head...
"It is the mark of an educated man to know what NOT to read."
Bet Tony wished HE'D thought of that one! 😂😂

We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet.
I had no idea Lindsey Sterling is a Mormon! She seems too cool for that.
Sadly I can't say the same about my mormon roommate, she makes it seem like I grew up in a prison as a ex catholic....meanwhile at least we could marry anyone, drink, and not go to hell for drink coffee.
i know right?! I wasn't expecting to discover this today.
Even Don Bluth went to BYU (the mormon run uni)
She's openly supportive of LGBT but the Mormon church doesn't excommunicate big name members.
Mark rober (science youtuber) went to BYU i believe
Ayeee just in time for my day off! 🎉
Exmormon here. Just wanted to say that Dallin H Oakes is actually next in-line to be the Prophet.
Thank you for making these videos
technically, the President of the Church selects the Bishop.
But, he usually just picks whoever the Stake President recommends.

4:04 the mainstream Dutch reformed Church my mother grew up in (and we still go to during the holidays) is also “Please stand if able” when singing certain hymns.
I don’t know why anybody would not love President Nelson. The guy is amazing, and he’s been an amazing prophet to us as well.
Religion aside, he was a really great heart surgeon and saved many lives.. he’s a good person even if people have different beliefs than him..

This "ongoing/continuing revelation" stuff is such BS and basically the foundation of every cult.
The real question is can he do a miracle?

@@Simon_Q our theology is quite unique as part of the last dispensation
A Ward is a single congregation assigned to a church building. Example I went to a church building 2 miles away as part of Ward A. After the first hr of my ward’s meeting Ward B came in for their first hour meeting. Wards get rotated schedules yearly, so up to 3 can use the same church building. One early morning, another starting around noon, and the last later in the afternoon. This is typical in Utah because of how many Mormons there are. In other states/counties it’s usually 1 ward using a single building.
Omg I didn’t know Lindsey Sterling is Mormon! I grew up loving her videos 😭
Hello, Mormon here. You made a small mistake! Elder. Holland will not be the next prophet, it would be Oaks. (Depending who dies first)
lol why insulting mormon as breeding as rabbit that is actually cruel and mean. You can be cordial and kind when critical.
So basically the stakes and area 70s are like bishops I think and the apostles are like the cardinals and the prophet is like the pope
