To be fair, Hollywood writers have to bear with studios and producers.

I love how you combined her more fun bubbly personality of her early incarnations, and her more hard ass no nonsense personality of her later incarnations. A perfect balance!

Dude this was great! You are an excellent writer man, you nailed this premise and executed it perfectly!
This is the problem, it's not that the movie had a female cast that people were disinterested, it was Marvel's track record and blatant incompetency to make great films like what the Russo brothers and James Gunn are capable of!
It's crazy you know, that the current team at Marvel have their heads so far up their own asses, that all they can think of doing or saying is "you don't like our stuff, well that's because you're a racist homophobe bigot nazi, it's YOUR fault we can do NO WRONG!" 😂
The gaslighting from both Disney and Marvel studios lately has been absolutely insane, that's why after Guardians 3 I immediately knew that we can have high hopes for the DCU ran by James Gunn coming soon, because bros track record is very promising, and as long as studio heads don't interfere and let him work freely, I have high hopes personally.
As for the MCU and Disney however... yikes. They need more people like you, people who ACTUALLY understand what the hell the heroes journey even is.
It's very obvious to me that the current guard has no clue, and they can't think of any reason besides to gaslight their own audience

    Just make it Rated R

My idea for a solo captain Marvel movie was a bit different. Making it R rated, haveing the movie begin with a bunch of soldiers saying goodbye to their families the haveing captain Marvel destroy them essentially comitting genocide against the Kree and basing the villian off as a daughter of that kree that died and having her mobilise the remaining kree. She would then spend the rest of her life trying to find the source of captain's power and building the weapon to kill her as she would be the skrill's only hope of survival . Now, captain will have to resolve this by understanding the complexities of this war and figure out a way to make peace between the races of kree and skrull. This was my idea for a captain marvel 2.

It’s so sad to me that they ALMOST gave her an actual character arc and go through some growth. It was so close and yet they just let the moment slip by.
Could you imagine if the writers had actually gone fully into that scene, specifically the one just after them failing at the water world. And instead of giving her the 30 second reveal of the atrocities she has committed and is a little sad over. They instead had her have a full on meltdown, disgusted with herself at her own failures. Everyone she has attempted to help she has failed. Flash back to the skrulls, flash back to thanos’s snap, flash back to her ruining the kree planet. And one of the other characters talking her down off the cliffs edge and talking to her about the need to never give up hope and to keep fighting to fix the mistakes of your past. It would have been a powerful scene and they squandered it.

I wish you had tried to incorporate Monica in some way. She was called Captain Marvel decades before Carol was, and she led the Avengers for a period of time when Captain America wasn't on the team.

I dont think its necessarily the fact that Captain Marvel is overpowered, ITS WHAT SHE DOES WITH HER POWER. Like Rafe said, she essentially more or less mercilessly destroys the Cree homeworld, likely snuffing out billions of lives and she doesnt even give them a second thought. And this woman is supposed to be the hero?

I really like this fresh take on Carol's character. Most of the 'video essays' that I see about her says the same thing over and over and are mostly rage baits.I'm sick of them and it doesn't help me figure out why her movie feels flat to me.I like your calm, serious take as someone who roots for her.

They don’t even label Monica as Photon in the marketing. They seriously just call her Monica Rambeau. It’s the fans that are calling her Photon
I’ve never seen any character in the MCU that has a superhero name but the marketing just calls them by their real name. Just goes to show how little MCU cares about Monica

Honestly? Yes. To all of this. The problem with Disney and Captain Marvel is that Disney thinks that just because she's a woman, they don't have to try to write her well. The reason why they like Ms. Marvel over Captain Marvel isn't because Ms. Marvel is written particularly well, but because the actress is likable. Brie Larson is a bit of a jerk, you can't sell a movie on Brie Larson alone. You have to actually make her character good to sell your movie. I know, perish the thought right?

As you feel potential in Captain Marvel’s character I do wish for She-Hulk but sadly Marvel both ruined them.

The title of the movie makes no sense on so many levels
1.) We never got an in-universe reason for why Captain Marvel is called that. Nobody addresses her by that in her first movie or in Endgame. I believe Spider-Man is the first to bring up that name in Far From Home, and when your superhero gets their comicbook name in someone else’s movie that’s all kinds of bad.
2.) Kamala has no reason to fangirl over Carol so hard. She was barely on earth to be a hero to the public. Nobody even called her Captain Marvel so how does Kamala name herself after her?
3.) Monica doesn’t even have Marvel in her name. In fact the marketing doesn’t even give her a superhero name. She was Captain Marvel in the comics, but that doesn’t apply ti thr MCU. The more accurate title would be The Marvels and Monica.

Nah she should be kept out of all of the MCU. Character is presented awefully, Actress is beyond terrible (expression range from blank stare to even less emotion), Actress also supremely uncharismatic, Character is also written terribly...
