This was the song that inspired me to play bass 20 something years ago. I was just a young kid listening to pop punk music, then this came on some like mix cd I bought off of a friend, it wasn't even the intro or chorus that got me, just how meaty the tone is for the few bars after the initial intro had me hooked. I remember going out, begging my parents to buy me Lets Go, and "Out comes the wolves" and shortly after, I got my first P Bass, and i've been playing your bass lines ever since. Thank you Matt for inspiring me to not only play bass, but to express myself with it.
I'd love anything and everything off the 2000 record. The whole album is so aggressive and hard hitting and it's like the bass is leading the onslaught.
Love these, Matt! Your lines really shaped me as a musician and that really shaped me as a person. Thank you for everything. Keep these coming, I love watching!
As a kid I had this track on a mix CD and man it had such a spooky sound to me. CD also had a tiger army song so I kind of linked them in my brain lol The bass on this sets the whole tone of the track and is essentially lead bass. No one else does it like you Mr Freeman. Another one of the reasons I picked up a bass!
Hell yeah Matt!!!!Picked up this rad double 10” in San Luis Obispo at Boo Boo Records the 1st weekend it came out,and it still shreds up my old turntable just right 🎼☠️🎉👌
Thank you, great teacher Matt ! This song is also impactful and cool🎶 I want to play this song but it's too difficult. Matt's bass lines require a lot of technique and grip strength. Matt is truly amazing✨
Killer bass intro setups the entire song perfectly, so catchy ! Got the Radio 7" with the Blitz cover on it when it dropped ( wish Blitz were still around RIP Nidge )
Learned the bass playing along with Let's go and Out come the wolves... i've been in love with your style eversince❤ ciuld you do Hooligans please? Greetings from the Netherlands. I've still got your pick l, you gave me at the Melkweg in the mid 90's❤
I’m pretty sure I bought Let’s Go in early ‘95 and had my first bass by the end of the year. I don’t believe that’s coincidental. Thanks so much for your creativity. It still inspires me 30 years later.
It would be cool if you did some slowed down tutorials on some of your more complicated bass lines (Detroit, for example). I always love watching musicians break down songs so I can play along and learn them.
Remember only ever learning the intro at the time 😂 People wouldn’t be able to tab lines like that back then when the music came out. That was the days modems still made noises.
Loving all of the videos! It would be cool to have some that you sing lead/a verse on too. Watching you play the lines while singing would be really impressive
Amazing line! Could you please tell us the story of how you learned to play bass and what influences do you havee?? 😍😍😍 YOu are the best, thank you so muuch!
I started bass because I was charmed about your colourful bass lines. I wonder if you were a painter how all of this lines would be transposed in a painting. All the best! ❤
These are so goddamn fun to watch. I was thinking, to go along with the history of your gear and style etc., could you maybe do one about your vocal style?
Love this song and these videos!! I would love to hear a bit more info about the songs after you play them. How they came together, how you came up with your bass line, etc. Keep up the great work on these!
Such a banger! Been a fav' of mine since I heard it for the first time as 14year old teen. The way the bass & guitars interact here still amazes to this day 👌
I can't get the smile off my face right now. I've always known Rancid's Bass was on another level but this is my first time actually watching it happen. Matt is amazing!!!
Watching these has been fantastic, cheers. Would love to see more on your signature Squier as it's been my main bass for years. The thing is definitely punching above it's weight for the price I paid.
I had forgotten about this song and its great lines, then I heard little joe's rendition of it on the Mike and his Uke channel's cover and been practising that intro lick since. Me and my tiny hands are not quite there yet. Great video!
Best bass channel on the tube. Personally, is love to see the entirety of .. And Out Come The Wolves end up on this channel at some point. You go back to specific points in your life when you're playing through these songs, especially in the video for Operation Ivy's "Bombshell". If love some insight as to what you're removing in those moments.
Ain´t got enough thumbs for all the cool videos you´re posting Matt! Rancid wwas a HUGE influence on this young street punk growing up in the 90´s are I still love youre records. REmember Hultsfred festival in Sweden, with TIm on a stool on stage in the rain ? I do

Was listening to it just few days ago. Again. And again.❤
I would love to see a session of you tracking in the studio a Rancid song.
Sono riuscito ad incontrarti due volte nella mia vita...sogno realizzato

I'd really live to know how tf you came up with all these amazing basslines.
Maybe a little video on your approach to writing lines?
Badass!
Can you do I’m not the only one? From the self titled E/P?
Since it’s on streaming finally I felt it would be cool!

I cannot believe it never occurred to me to simply bar my finger over the D and G strings on the opening riff.
incredible song and awesome video matt as always. St Mary or New Orleans would be nice ones for bass
I had forgotten about this song and its great lines, then I heard little joe's rendition of it on the Mike and his Uke channel's cover and been practising that intro lick since. Me and my tiny hands are not quite there yet. Great video!
