    If you don't need TTL (I don't), you can save tons by buying the BM version of the AD600. It runs what, 200 bucks cheaper? A very neat trick is that using the X1T controller to trigger the strobe, you can use the hotshoe on that controller to trigger more stuff. I am using the yongnuo 622 trigger with some 685 flashes as background light and as long as it isn't inserted all the way down on the hotshoe, manual works (TTL does not). This way you can actually keep two systems in parallel instead of ditching the entire old setup.

    Hi, I've just bought the Neewer F3-500 Strobe but I can't get to grips with the trigger functions. Is there any chance you could do a quick 5/10 min video on the remote trigger I think the setup is the same for the 400. I want to use it with my Nikon D7200 and it can be setup for Nikon or Canon. I've tried my supplier, and Neewer and their response was ..."do you want to send it back". Not very helpful.... So this is me on bended knee begging for help......Pleaseeeeeee

    Really thanks for the video... I'm quite interested in the Neewer system... mostly because it is less expensive and I need 2... Concerning that, you said that the Godox est a little less than the double of the price... this is true, but: for this price, Godox doesn't provide the trigger system, and if you need more batteries, the Godox is 175euros and the Neewer is 45euros... and... the trigger from godox is for Nikon OR Canon, and the one from Neewer is the same for both (Nikon and Canon)....
    Of course less power... but some other advantage I think...!
    Thanks for this nice review...
    Last question. Concerning the power comparison, did you use the same light-modifier in both...?

      Finally I both the Neewer system. 2 Flash +1 extra battery for a total of 460euros -> 530USD...
      The recycling time is the main problem in my point of view....
      Of course Godox is better... but I'm amateur... too much expensive for me

    Hi Trent. Bought my f1-400 this week from amazon. £260 uk. Haven't really had chance to test it yet. But really really disappointed with the build quality.
    Opened the case and the foam cut outs look like they've been cut with a rusty spoon.
    Removed the cap gently after watching your video. 4 or 5 deep scratches.
    On/off switch seems a bit lose.
    Dial/turn knob on rear wobbles.
    Bulb not central. about 5mm towards one side.
    Light stand doesn't really fit into screw thread. Just the handle.
    HSS on nikon seems a nightmare to set up. Looks like you have to have 2 groups open.
    A ttl & B manual.
    Kicking myself for not going with the less powerful wistro 200 price wise. Apart from that. It's great 😀

    Nice. Please mind the units of power, though. Ws is energy consumed where W is power potential. Ws is like a millimeter to 3.6 kilometer - the mini version of kWh (kilo.Watt.hours) on your electricity invoice at home. The manufacturer just tells how much electrical power is consumed from the battery in one full flash. Meaningless photographically. The efficiency of the electrical circuit and flash lamp determine how much light comes out. So 400 could give more than 600. Profoto and Bron would publish a guide number (correct exposure=distance*aperture) for a reflector of their choice. IMO Profoto's choice to integrate the flash tube (not expose it) means you always need a softbox's inner baffle in order to use the reflective side walls (that you need for feathering). Leaving the flash tube exposed means you'll likely break one, some day. Mind you, at the same per Ws light output, 1200 Ws is only 4 F-stops more than a 75 Ws speedlight.

    I like your video's a lot, but would like to say that it is not fair to compare the output of the strobes when one has a reflector and the other has not. If you want to measure differences in output you need to measure it in several ways. A reflector increases the light towards the lightmeter. I think it is better to meassure it when it bounces of a white ceiling. In adition you can use a measurement through a white umbrella and a softbox. The Godox should have a half stop more power. Because of the very small reflector of the Neewer it might be a little bigger difference. I hope you do not feel offended. I enjoy your video's. Thank you very much.

    • @TrentDangphoto
      @TrentDangphoto  6 лет назад

      Henk van de Kaa thank you for your input and commitment. I did used the same Bowen reflector on both strobes to try to keep it fair as much as I can. I neglected to show that in the video for the power out test when I edited the video. I used the same method and output because I actually really like this unit and think it is a budget. Thank you again.

  • @AerialLensVideo
    @AerialLensVideo 6 лет назад

    Really well done video - THANKS!
    Do you happen to know if the Godox XT1 trigger will work with the Neewer light? I do have this 2.4GHz 30 channel five group trigger, which transmits the TTL and HSS functions, for use with my Godox TT685-o (OLympus) flash and of course the AD models, and it would be fantastic if the same trigger "talks" to the F1-400. The AD600 looks great but I simply cannot afford the price.

    • @therookiefisherman5234
      @therookiefisherman5234 5 лет назад

      You probably won't get an answer. But I don't think the Godox trigger will work however you might be able to trigger it with your TT685 using the in slave mode. I would use the TT685 in slave and use the Neewer transmitter to trigger them although you probably have to use the Tt685 in manual mode.

    I have a very important question. Is there a way to change the output value from the knob in the back of the strobe itself without having to go back and forth to the transmitter (handy in light painting while the camera is on a tripod far away from you). I try it, it changes temporarily but when i take the shoot it goes back to the transmitter values.

    • @TrentDangphoto
      @TrentDangphoto  6 лет назад

      dehihohoh the transmitter overrides the setting on the strobe. I don't know an way of altering that option.

    Hi, nice video. I got mine (F1-400) for couple of days. Nice piece of strobe for this amount of money. However I've noticed one cons. When I shoot in HSS mode between 1/250 and 1/640 my frame is not equaly exposed. After 1/640 everything is brilliant. Have you experienced it too ?? Greetings

    • @TrentDangphoto

      Honestly I learned on manual and that is what I feel comfortable using most of the time, but the few times I used the TTL indoor, it did a good job of lighting the subject with a -0.3 exposure compensation for my liking.

    ????? why not compare the AD400 with the F1-400 that's matching

  • @saffronfalcon
    @saffronfalcon 6 лет назад +1

    Comparing them is wrong. These are from different class. Godox is much powerful while neewer is less powerful. comparing a 600ws light to a 400ws light is injustice. I am sure neewer is a good product, i liked the output from it. The deal breaker for neewer is the fact that its a stand alone light while godox is an entire system. People buy differently power rated lights but being able to work them in tandem is the key to efficiency. With godox one can use an ad600 with an ad200 & a v860ii. This is what makes godox a better choice.
