Hey I bought thai flash because of this review and a couple others so thanks. The modeling lamp can indeed be adjusted simply by holding down the "Model" button and turning the "vari" dial. It shows the percentage in the display.

Hi Matthew, Your negative point about standing the light on its end is easily overcome. I notice that there is a ridge at the back of the light which helps too. Take your light to your local DIY store to get a couple of inches length of the correct diameter plastic pipe to slip over the base and act as a stand through which you can still access the buttons. Hope that helps. Graham.

I agree Todd, the flash is well built and works well. I'm already invested into Godox but based on price if I started out new I would get this flash. Few minor things but otherwise not a deal breaker for me.

  • @007xyzzy
    @007xyzzy 3 года назад +1

Why did you not compare the Neewer i6T with Godox AD600pro because they are the same wattseconds rating and both have TTL and HSS and the price is more extreme . Godox does not include trigger with there flash so the price difference is more extreme.

To control the modeling lamp dim and brightness, you will need to hold the model button and turn the wheel. I agree about the battery indicator, I hope a 3rd party fixes that with their battery and I also hate how far up the buttons sit in the back. I think someone can make a bumper to connect to the back with a 3D printer or something to help us out. Neewer just needs to provide a manual.

I got the Neewer i6T for $175. What a deal vs the overpriced and weak Profoto B10 Plus.
I returned the B10 Plus for a full refund.
600ws vs 500ws, simple math says the 600 is more than 500.

Neewer sounds better but not close to its listed brightness.
As you mentioned and tested, the 600 watt Neewer i6T is about the same brightness as the 400 watt Godox AD400Pro, that's not good.
Other info from Godox and Neewers websites show more "listed" differences.
Specs show the i6T has a 4000mA Li-ion Battery with a color temp of 5500+/-100k and a 15w LED modeling lamp.
Specs on the Godox 2600mAh Battery with a color temp of 5600+/-200k and a 30W LED modeling lamp but can do "stable color temp" with a +/- of 75k (but the 75k stable color mode has speed loss drawbacks the Godox folks don't mention).
Flashpoint (godox with Adorama branding) has a one year Warranty. Warranty from Godox is basically worthless (if you read the hoops you and the seller have to jump through). Neewer says a one year warranty.

What would concern me is not the initial performance but how long it will last you. I checked their website and they give a 3 month warranty, which is not really long when comparing to other manufacturers like Bowens with a 5 year warranty (at least when I bought my studio set back in the 2000s - and it still works). Okay, repairs at other brands quickly will cost you as much as this whole flash is, but there should at least be some trust in it not breaking after a few month of usage.
Also, is it compatible with other triggers or does it exclusively have to be the included ones? I can't find any information on that. Also I can't find spare battery packs anywhere and it would be good to have a backup one with you.

Isn't a 600w flash strobe supposed to be much more powerful than a 400w? Also, I was able to find a Godox AD600BM for around the same price as a Neewer i6T EX. Do you recommend one over the other? The AD600BM does not have TTL mode, a slightly higher recycle time and has a weaker modeling light on paper but if the Neewer only compares to Godox AD400 in power, is it worth it?

For people that are starting out, new or even to pros:
ATG/Godox = ATG AF assist beam

The ATG are so good that they can be confusing to even the pro photographers but not to bulk buyers.
