Hi Juan, I have the Neewer F1-400 version of this flash great bit of kit but trying to get an extra battery is a night mare 😳 any idea where I could purchase one. Thanks 👍
Thanks for the video! Definitely, I'm considering on purchasing one. The built quality looks good and similar to the Neewer F1-400. I suspect Profoto modifiers can fit on it.
Hi Jay Photography can I use the trigger with other neewer receiver because I have a set of 3 neewer Ds 300 and I was wondering if I can combine my Ds 300 with f1-400? thank you man!
Hega Productions to be honest I haven’t tried using any other trigger than the triopo one. I don’t own any Neewer flashes but I do believe that all these brands are made by the same manufacturer and just sold under different brands. Can anyone confirm?
I'm concerned about the strobe true F-Stop output and dial down power for a small studio as in "Understanding Watt Seconds: Ep239: Digital Photography 1 on 1". Can you do some tests and post results?
I have a very important question. Is there a way to change the output value from the knob in the back of the strobe itself without having to go back and forth to the transmitter (handy in light painting while the camera is on a tripod far away from you). I try it, it changes temporarily but when i take the shoot it goes back to the transmitter values.
dehihohoh unfortunately the transmitter tells the light what the light output it’s going to be. You could change the settings on the light but as soon as you press the shutter button on the camera what ever settings are on your trigger are going to override whats on the flash. Usually isn’t light painting done with a long exposure or bulb setting? In that case you could trigger a test flash off of the flash as you walk around the subject.
Hi JayV, HOw's the light going after a year of use, I am planning to buy this light but not sure if it will be worth to invest. would be nice to have your update on this product and how was your experience with it.
Hi, nice video. I got mine for couple of days. Nice piece of strobe for this amount of money. However I've noticed one cons. When I shoot in HSS mode between 1/250 and 1/640 my frame is not equaly exposed. After 1/640 everything is brilliant. Have you experienced it too ?? Greetings
Hi Javy. I´m back again. I have a question for you. I just visited the Triopo webpage (triopo.cn). They also have a ENG version. There is no download section and the "Service" sub-page just gives you zero assistance. Have you been informed by your seller where to download any new Firmware release ? Their assistance web page is just useless, opposite to Godox who seem to care customers a lot better with clear indications, updates etc.
Nice presentation. GJ :) Just received mine today. Loving it. :) Btw you are able to control the intensity of the modelling light by using the dial wheel. Too bad it's not a perfect fit with profoto speed ring but with a bit of gaffas tape you can actually make it fit pretty nice.
Hi Jay, looks a good bit of kit, I am putting it on my Xmas list, looks the same flash as the Neewer F1 400 I am interested in just hope it has the same mains power operation plug , thanks for the review very useful 👍
Hi Jay and thanks for sharing. I also have to decide between the AD600BM and this Triopo/Oubao f1-400. They are almost equivalent in price but I don' t know about value and quality. I'm waiting for your review video :-) Good Light!
Hey Jay, I have this as well. Havent tested it yet. By the way, do you know how to charge the battery? I tried plugging it in both in 1 and 2 mode but not charging. thanks
If you are using Nikon, you must go into the camera's flash menu to set the "Auto FP" if you want to go above 250. The same can be done which is better than Nikon system when using Canon's.
Hi Thanks for the great review...very interesting flash have you used it since the video was published??? Does it still works? What are the long term opinion about it???
Bánáti János to be honest I really have nothing bad to say about it . I’ve been meaning to do a video on the review just haven’t had time. You can look at my Instagram account @javphoto_nj to see some of my latest photos and see it for yourself in action.
You should make or change the title because no one would know about it or by doing a search. This is another invention from ATG, which is better than using and owning ATG's Godox/Cheetahlight (again also by ATG) and Canon 600EX-RT II with transmitter & Nikon SB-910 with pocket wizard. ATG is so good that major camera stores are selling them over profoto b1 and phottix indra500. But many beginners (one that claimed to be a professional photographer) that like to brand ATG with bad names. The red dome on the top is an ATG wireless IR (infrared/line-of-site) flashes in ATG ADI TTL, ETTL II , ITTL or S1 and S2 flashes.
Thanks for doing the video! I'm trying to decide between this and the Godox Ad600 which has more power per spec but also cost twice as much for the TTL version. What's your opinion so far?
ATG told me that this is a better buy if you want to carry light. * Case alone costs over $100.00 * ATG hybrid radio TTL transmitter (one transmitter works on Canon/Nikon) * ATG comes in 400ws, 500ws, 600ws, 1,000ws & 2,000ws * ATG out of USA are under aka on F1-400 & F3-500 FYI: ATG Gold (4/5/6/1K/2K) Series are not cheap. - Has the power for the working professionals - Tribrid transmitter (Hasselblad/Phase One/Leica; C/N/O or Sony) - ATG AF assist beam which is not available on profoto b1 - ATG 600, 1,000 & 2,000ws makes profoto b1 looks like a small flashlight - Made to order - Available only in USA. If you still want to buy ATG/Godox AD600, then buy TTL version with supported ATG TTL transmitter for your camera. Make sure you get the Bowen Mount & ATG TTL version. If you need answers or need equipment service/repair, try contacting Alzo Digital, CT. If you want more flexible & better than using Canon 600EX-RT II or Nikon SB-910, then Alzo Digital, CT. And ask for ATG services/supports for the working pros.
Sid Shiao I was looking at the ad600 as well and what made me consider this flash over the ad600 (besides the cost) was the portability and simplicity of the flash. The fact it comes with a case was awesome and I have used it for one shoot already and love how easy it is to set up. The screen on the unit I absolutely love its easy to read from far and looks great from all angles. I just ordered a bowens mount beauty dish and I can't wait to do some more shoots with it.
What camera body are you using? I had mine pre-paid for with a ATG Gold Trimitter Kim X3. So less to pack up & have in the camera bag that the staff can use on Canon, Nikon or Sony. I rather pay a little bit more for one transmitter than buying three transmitters from Profoto B1 and Phottix Indra500. So in reality it is the ATG's world's first transmitters that will be compatible for Canon, Nikon & Sony.
JayV Photography, going to answer my question? Mine will be able to use AC and DC power. So when I have AC power around I will use it to save the battery power for field.
angelisone hey Im not sure what your trying to do. I've read all about you and how you go around promoting a brand that doesn't exist. I thanked you for your advice about changing the title for the video and I really do appreciate it. Not sure why you promote a fictional brand and trick people in thinking its real. To answer your second question the flash could be run both on battery and off AC power.
Jonathan Mejia I can't confirm that it does because I don't currently own the Profoto Speedring but just from looking at the photos and comparing the size of the lights I really think it would fit. But again thats just my opinion not a fact..
BarTabz I did have a chance to use it a hand full of times. If you check out my instagram you could see some of my work. Still trying to find the time to put another video together of my experience. Instagram @jayvphoto_nj

Wiil they work with the NEEWER N1T 2.4G Transmitter without the using the NEEWER N1T recievers?
how much power (watts) does the modelling light have? in the lowest and highest? compared to incandescent light bulb, thanks so much!
Hey JayV, I am just wondering if you had tried using the HSS function for this flash? Cant seem to get it to work (HSS), thanks!

Hi Jay, do you know where I can get a trigger manual. Not sure how to set it up. Thanks
I have same problem like Mohamed My trigger shows me the symbol of HSS is activated but on unit it is not and i can not do HSS ?

Great question. Cannot find it myself.
Jay any updates or problems on the unit for Nikon?

sunil rakuban Just posted up a video on how to set up the flash on HSS. Sorry for the late response hope the video helps!
is this the same as the Neewer f1-400? just rebrand?
Hey Jay, I have this as well. Havent tested it yet. By the way, do you know how to charge the battery? I tried plugging it in both in 1 and 2 mode but not charging. thanks
Mark Brian Godilano Hey Mark! The battery itself has a connection port. You have to remove the battery off the unit and connect it directly.
oh realy, i didnt know that. Didnt say anything in the manual. :) Thank you for the help bro!
Does this work for Nikon D800 with high speed sync
Transmitter (01:25) works on Canon RT system?

Thanks a lot. Some people on Amazon complaining that HSS and TTL does not work especially with Nikon. Any experience with it? Thanks a lot!!!
