Not really. A high volecity bullet going through water faster than the speed of sound would cause the bullet to slow down significantly and it either dissipait or stop at around 13 cms below the water.
Not all these guns are made accurately to their real life sound. To you it might seem this should be universal, but in some games this is ill suited. Sometimes they need to be more realistic. In others it is okay and a good idea to exaggerate things. It's because of a thing called developer's creative vision choice. Each game is designed to have a certain tone in mind. In R.D.R. 1 the goal was to be a root-in toot-in cow boy. That means that style of sound fit well with the style, personality, and tone of the game.
There actually is a Mauser C96 in Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker So you can indeed fight a Metal Gear with one of those. There even is a full auto version of it
RDR2 is great but it downgraded so many great things from RDR1, the whole manually cocking guns and strange per-shot accuracy thing are the most agregous examples

These guns are forgotten for a reason. They had a design flaws or other issues with them. A volcanic's bullet is so weak one of the developers failed in suicide after more than 2 shots to his head. You also can't operate the gun without using two hands like a lever action rifle. This isn't the only gun to be unrealistic. It's a good thing they made it fake. I like to see old guns but you can't actually introduce them to people in a game and have fun if they are not practical.
Duuude in free roam it kicked hella ass, all it took was 3 good shots and you'd be dead. If your aim was good, 2 shots. When I thought it'd be the same in rdr2 I was disappointed tbh

Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 are on two extremes as far as reloading is concerned. It went from blink-and-you-miss-it to loading one cartridge per blink-of-an-eye. I love both games though, pure arcade fun and realistic cowboy simulation alike.
Realistic? Lol RDR1's Lemat was break action. Unrealistic. Plus a ton of the animations were reused. Like the Carbine repeater being loaded through the side rather than the stock. Same with the Evans. And the Semi-Auto and Pump Action were also incorrect with their animations.
This game definitely makes you feel like a cowboy in the west, with the lasso hanging from ur hip and the back holster, it all just fits, but I like rdr2s open world better and gameplay, but this game just looks like a cowboy simulator to me, but both games are amazing
I found myself using the cattleman as my sidearm the most because of it's classic feel along with the rolling block for long range, which will be my setup in rdr 2 can't wait
The Red Dead Redemption Way of Reloading - finger the action of the gun like you're fingering a girl. Especially the pistols have some really silly reloads.
I know, I'm just being an ass. Of course, comfort of gameplay is more important than authenticity, and you have to keep the shooting fun. Still, I do think it would be cool to have an actually authentic reload animation of a Colt Single Action Army (which would take like 30 seconds), and it would make the Schofield more viable. But then again, I like guns, for a more casual player that would probably be more annoying.
For what it looks now Rockstar made reloading more realistic but still fitting to gameplay. Hope they put the Scorpion Revolver from Red Dead Revolver in the game. The real guns name is the Colt Army Model 1860.
I think the High Power pistol should have been the original M1911. Because the game is set in 1911 and it would make sense for a government agent like Ross to hand it to John. It also fits its name considering the 45. Caliber round.
1911 has been in so many games though. As far as I'm aware this is one of like two or three games where you get to use the FN 1903, it was a revolutionary handgun at it's time. Maybe the 1911 could have been unlockable during the epilogue as Jack. But during the year 1911 itself, it was still in production, hadn't adopted widespread use and for the first 20 to 40 years of its lifespan it wasn't used by police, it was mostly just used by military.
For the people complaining about how insanely fast the reload speeds are, let me remind you that THIS IS A VIDEO GAME. VIDEO GAMES WERE NOT MADE TO BE REALISTIC IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I think the most memorable gun sound in this entire game is the Pump Shotgun, All those hours playing Undead Nightmare with that thing. Absolute classic
The biggest thing I notice in this vs rdr2 is the guns have much more bass to them along with a noticeable crack. Plus the bullet impacts are just a tad more intense in this game compared to 2.

I started playing the game and I barely have weapons, just the cattleman and volcanic, with other two rifles. I'm about to make the mission where John and others attack Fort Mercer for Bill.
You'll start getting new weapons after that. You get the Schofield as soon as you get to mexico and then the double action a little ways into that campaign
Fun fact: This game demonstrates why the evans lever action rifle never became successful as a product and gone anywhere further. If you load one bullet in the gun it requires you to cycle the action 27 or 28 times just so it gets loaded into the chamber. There is going to be gaps. It operates on a conveyor belt system. This is why. The difference is the fact it reduces the amount of times for a person to cycle the action occasionally.
If they're going to Remaster it, they badly need to fix the damn issue of not having Arthur Morgan being ever mentioned in, at least, 1 second of the game's entire story mode.

Fun fact: Have you ever wondered why pump action operating shotguns are still used today? It's because apparently the way shotgun shells and the gun operate it makes it not suited conduct the a semi-automatic loading operation well when trying to riot control none lethal ordnance in them. You have to literally manually do it yourself if you want it to be more practical.

It's because apparently the way shotgun shells and the gun operate it makes it not suited conduct the a semi-automatic loading operation well when trying to riot control none lethal ordnance in them. You have to literally manually do it yourself if you want it to be more practical.

Everything started for me on June 11th 2004.
Originally, the Hi Power Pistol that Edgar Ross carries before giving to John was suppose to be the Original Colt M1911 since in Promotional Art for Red Dead 1, Ross is carrying a M1911 Pistol.
Man went so far as to even show fists, now how d'ya reload those?

Apparently John can reload faster than Arthur with a Volcanic and a LeMat.
Both guns were not as simple to load as portrayed in rdr1, rdr2 is more realistic for that.

With the game set in 1911 & 1914 and the fact there's an official illustration of Ross with M1911, I still feel dismayed there is no M1911 lmao

In this game , you can actually fire a Double Action Revolver in Double Action , not being forced to cock it every time you aim .
