What an unbelievable episode.. IMO this is the best thing TV has ever and will ever produce for the following reasons: 1) The great script writing for this episode .. the atmosphere they created by this outrageously brilliant script. 2) The unreachable class of directing and the cinematography is absolutely outstanding and probably one of the best things I have ever witnessed in the whole Cinema/TV thing. 3) The stunningly immense acting from Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Kit Harington and of course Iain Glen who is the most underrated actor of the lot and IMO at least deserves an Emmy or a Golden Globe so does the other Actors I had mentioned.
I loved this scene. All I can say is...Hell Yes! :D Tyrion is right where he needs to be and Dany has one of the best minds on her side now. Now all that needs to happen to make this absolutely perfect is for Varys to show up as well. :D And I'm hoping he will, very soon.
I think what Tyrion says here is the most logical thing Dany has heard in ages. I think her conquest of Westeros would be doomed to failure, mainly because 1) I don't think such an intricate and amazing story will end with the most obvious victor coming out on top (it's just too simple) 2) She doesn't understand how the politics works, Tyrion can help her but right now she's a little out of depth. 3) So she's going to break the wheel. What does that mean? Is she going to try and take down all the big main families? Lannister, Tyrell, Martell, Aryn, Stark, Lannister, Greyjoy, Baratheon. Why? She needs the support of someone in Westeros with an army, she needs support of lords and ladies who the commoners respect. PLUS, isn't she part of the wheel? I mean, she's proclaiming to be the queen, she's like top of the wheel! Seems a bit hypocritical. I honestly think she may have more to gain by never going to Westeros (we shall see). Also, on a side note, I couldn't help but feel really sad for Tommen this episode, I mean we didn't see him but he's had the two women he loves ripped away from him and imprisoned. It was bad enough with just Margaery locked away, now his mum? Poor him :( Luckily, Kevan is on the job.
LaughterInportable Dany has the vision. Tyron has the practicality to make that vision take form. That is the way things always happen. Causes need also need to be approached in a practical manner without losing the vision that inspired it. That is why Dany and Tyron make a good team. They complement each other.
LaughterInportable no..she included all houses vying for power including her own house. what shes saying is that she will destroy the social and ruling system that has been governing Westeros for thousands of years.. that system has caused nothing but chaos and let the big rich houses step all over the common people while they waged petty wars. the fact that she included herself in this speech indicate that shes planning to either remove the monarchy as a whole or create a more liberal sort of government where the common people, who are also the majority, have equal rights and say in the governance. Shes not going to be killing the rich but i suspect that she is planning to decrease the power they have over ruling the realm by giving a voice to the commoners as well.
basboosa You make very good points. People that have a vision do not always get the full vision from the beginning. It sometimes formulates itself as they reach different goals along their path. She might have not even realized what she was going to do until she articulated it to Tyrion.
jo el idk not seeign it being too huge, nothing major has been spoiled. everyone suspected jons specialness, other than that no massive spoilers. I mean heaps has changed from the books but you cant really call that a spoiler.
Stopping it allows an opportunity for it to start again, just like how slavery slowly comes back. Breaking it allows no further option for it to start again and more importantly allows her to build anew.
SpydeyDan Stop th wheel when one family is on top and you crush the others beneath (or some at sides if u want to get geometrically correct, which might mean to ally with the top family). Break the wheel so you change this system and build anew.
***** Yes that is what this speech smells like and I'm curious to see where it will go. We went through the same steps; did we not? Did we not gain our freedoms and democracy against monarchy, or equal rights in society against other groups after wars, civil uprisings and chaos? Was it also not considered as just a dream, a fantasy? But it got real did it not? I just can't believe how some people are such big fans of kings and monarchy when been born into free societies, like they only play along with the game of thrones and can't think big.
***** You got me a bit wrong there (unless I am getting you wrong now). I did not mean we went through the same by letting one person change our destinies. There is the will, perhaps unspoken of due to the fear of those in power, and usually some people take a leading role to make that will come true. Once people see that they are not alone and there are others who back them up, they too start showing their will and it turns into a mass resistance. Martin Luther King, Jr said "I have a dream" and that dream came true. You might say now "of course all people, regardless of their colours, are equal. But if you said this at his time many people would also say this was a fantasy. Like him or not, he inspired masses. The famous French Revolution was a huge step against monarchy, even though certain outcomes might be debated nobody can deny the contributions it made to modern Europe. And Jean-Jacques Rousseau is probably the name that many remember to be the most influential on the revolution. I think you take the matter literal. Dany is a queen so you compare her to other kings in history, but I see her as an influential leader to start a civil uprising against inequalities. Things can go in a different direction of course, but this is what I am hoping to see since nobody else in GoT gave more shits to commoners than she did.
Well ok, Robb and Stannis are good men and they certainly care for their people in their way. Robb was my favourite until he died. He wasn't a power lusty person and I had my other reasons to like him too :) I did not want to undermine them. However I think you would agree that their stories don't make an arc with their care for common people. If Dany, after getting her army in Astapor, left Essos then I wouldn't say what I said. But remember she said she had 200 000 reasons to take Yunkai, referring to the number of slaves in the city. She did not know she would get a bonus with the Second Sons, her motivation was to help the slaves. With the same reasons she went to and stayed in Meereen. I was pissed off to see she would stay there and not go play the game of thrones in Westeros, but I came to realize that her decision was a hard one and even a brave one in my eyes. Other characters might feel a lot of things, but we are limited to what we read/watch and can only base our opinions on what we hear about them. Other than that I am glad we now understand each other better.
If the wheel is stopped, the other powerful houses are still key players (people at her council, who had money and influence). If she breaks the wheel, she's the only player and all the other houses are gone or clearly under her power. She always said she wants to be the one with absolue power, people just heared what they want. She's a Queen living in a pyramid in a great city she took, she would never have want to take westeros and have less power than in Meereen.
This is for sure one of the best franchises ever. I wonder if Daenerys will come to Westeros with the intention of conquering only to change her mind and help Westeros fight back against the White Walkers with her Dragons. That would indeed be epic as hell. And I wonder what Bran's part will be in all of this if so. Will he warg into one of her dragons to better control them?
Damn! Few words have ever been spoken on television that are as powerful as the concluding remark "I not am going to stop the wheel. I am going to break the wheel!" If someone were not acquainted with Game of Thrones, and needed convincing to watch, I would have them watch this segment, just for the sheer power of the dialog.
In the books Daenerys wants a home, family and peace more than literally anything else. What Tyrion suggested there would have done so much for her. A really good quote from a Season 8 rewrite i saw once perfectly drives that home. "What do you do if you don't have a home? You build a new one."
I am a massive fan of the books, and I couldn´t be happier about how this turned out. I loved the dynamic, and those were just two scenes. I´m looking forward to seeing how this will develop.
Emiliano Rodriguez I wish, but I liked other Tyrion pairings better with people that could match him with witty repartee or substance, Bronn, Varys, Baelish, Shae, Tywin, Jaime, Jeffrey, Jorah, Cersei. Poor Daenerys has a one track mind with precious little knowledge or life experience. Tabula rasa. Since you are a fan of the books does it mention anywhere that she can read and write? I measure her by successful rulers of real world history. She does not reflect their traits. Unruly dragons and a spiffy throne room don't impress me.
Valkyrie Sardo she knows how to read and write well, but she knows nothing of dragon tales or histories of the seven kingdoms so u cant really expect her to know how to train dragons! they are dragons for goodness sake not dogs. how would u know what to do with 3 dragons when u have no knowledge or books on them since they have been extinct for many years and all those around u are just as shocked by them as u are?? oh and btw shes 12-14 years old in the actual books. she has done incredible things for her age and shows a great visionary mind, and her mistakes can easily be attributed to her age and lack of experience. Viserys taught her to read and write, but nothing else of the histories since he barely knew them himself. Dany at this point resembles Elizabeth I the most. Elizabeth was also taken advantage off at the beginning and her initial years were extremely unstable. She sent an army of children and young inexperienced men on a war that failed miserably and she became the laughingstock of the whole of Europe. she had great visionary mind but those around her were traditionalists and refused to listen to her. she too had many assassination attempts made on her and was almost forced into marriages she didnt want by other European monarchs and her own government. if it wasnt for Walsingham (her primary adviser who ironically was much like Tyrion) she wouldn't have survived the throne for a year.
Spoiler maybe... Am I the only one who thinks when Melisandre talks about the power of a Kings blood, she is talking about Targaryen blood. One of Stannis' grandparents was a Targaryen. Targaryens are of the blood of old Valyria and has close connections to dragons and magic. Not unlikely that their own blood has magic probaties. (Sorry for butchering English)
0:40 Ya know in hindsight this ended being pretty darn good advice. Had she just stayed in Essos she would've still been alive. And the Night King would have no means of getting past the wall without an undead dragon unless we assume that he would.
@@Nikolaj11 I hear you. I didn't want to return to the world of Westeros after that disasterous final season either. But my evil brother changed my mind. Plus a quick trip to the Wicked Wiki shows that TweedleDum and TweedleDee aren't involved in HotD. So far I'm liking it.
I mean, all the clues were right there. The first super obvious hint that she would turn to a vilain was when she burned everyone and grabbed the unsullied. The problem with later season was not that she turned mad, itwas always the path of that character. The problem is how poorly it was executed.
Really feels like she could have done better just ruling back in Essos, biding her time. At least in the show. It's not like the dragons actually ended up being useful in the war against the dead. Could have just shown up with her army at full strength, perched on top of the red keep and won.
Daenerys really needed to understand that you can’t win the game if you don’t want to play it. If she really wanted the Iron Throne she should have realized that she would have to play politics no matter how much she hated it.
Not that damn "Wheel speech" again, don't get me wrong, I loved Dany at season 1-3 / book 1-3. But now I hate her. Hopefully she becomes the main antagonist in the future because her winning in the end seems too cliche.
Tyrion literally gave her the best advice to any ruler in history in his first real cogent moment. You've saved a ton of lives right here, right now. Maybe this is where you belong.
Dany should've listened to Tyrion in this scene or at least considered his advice to stay in Meeran. She had more support and respect and beloved in Merren than Westeros who had nothing but bad memories and dislike of her infamous family. She could've at least built a dynasty in Merren that would have eventually have her descendants have the power and wealth to take their ancestral throne back at the right time.
The worst and dumbest thing Daenerys did up until this point. Everything else aside why on earth make a Lannister (the family who completely betrayed and murdered her father and niece and nephew) her hand of the queen.
"I'm going to break the wheel." "okay.. that's a cool line, but how do you actually plan on doing that? what are you going to do?" "well... uh.... you see... the common people! and uh... the....my um home and my um... claim..."
Tyrion was actually bang on here. She'd made great gains in Essos and was sacrificing it all to essentially start from scratch in what was to her, a foreign land. This was Tyrion's last smart moment. She could've built a brand new powerful kingdom in Essos and begun trades with the Westeros monarchy, man I'd love to see a What If of that scenario actually
Dany was deemed a foreigner by both the people of Essos and Westeros. I’d like to see a a scenario be played out in a story where to different groups of people who reject a person as one of their own actually engage in dialogue and argue with each other about who that rejected person rightfully belongs to.
That happens all the time with mixed race people. More often than not the only thing they can agree on is that the people don't belong to either group and like Danerys they are forced to fight for there own existence sadly at the cost of those who refuse to accept them. The only other alternative is death and extinction. Only the most self loathing choose that option.
One thing Tyrion got wrong was that having the Tyrells wasn't enough. The Reach army is 3 times the size of the North, Vale, Riverlands, and twice the size of the Westerlands army. The issue Tyrion might've been referring to is that because the entire Reach is so populated the lesser lords are extremely powerful even in their own right. Not only that but they have more noble blood than the Tyrells and don't listen to them sometimes.
when she said she was going to Break The Wheel, she was foreshadowing that she was going to *wipe out every major and minor House in Westeros* as soon as she could. Everyone else thought she was talking about ending the Game of Thrones by creating a new system. She was going to get rid of the system altogether and rule by fire and claw.
Tyrion: I'd advise against crossing the Narrow Sea, it might be better to rule here. Besides we have enough wine to last a life-time. Daenerys: Actually our supply won't last through the winter. Tyrion:....... Daenerys:....... Tyrion: Well what are we waiting for, let's get plotting!!!
Raphael Isnard The Dornish are unique out of any of the other kingdoms and never swore fealty to any king after Robert's rebellion. Hence why they still use titles such as "Prince". They are part of the 7 kingdoms and swore to declare no king of their own, but were more of an alliance with the Targaryens rather then subjects to the Iron Throne. However through the power of marriage the Targaryens and Martells became closer then any other houses and the fact they weren't mentioned in this scene is probably leaving room for a surprise later on...
basboosa And more importantly her knowledge about the basic political landscape of a country she claims to be the Rightful Ruler of. Tyrion is playing a game of "two truths and a lie" almost all through the conversation anyway, and Dany is falling right into his traps. I doubt his advice will benefit Daenerys at all. The Night's King has already started "breaking the wheel"...
God, I loved this scene. It was everything I wanted it to be. Dany and Tyrion are going to be really fun to watch.
Yeah, this was my second favorite scene in this episode
I'm so sorry your hopes and dreams were crushed, just like ours.
What an unbelievable episode.. IMO this is the best thing TV has ever and will ever produce for the following reasons:
1) The great script writing for this episode .. the atmosphere they created by this outrageously brilliant script.
Peter Dinklage and Lena are Emmy winners
Sigh
And now basically no one talks about this series because they screwed it so hard it tainted the good seasons. How sad
@@ErimlRGG Stop lying Everyone talks about it HOTD is most anticipated show .
Back when characters had dialogue and logical discussions .
Best episode so far this season!
The game of thrones crew surely likes this "im going to break the wheel" line..
bakfiets imam the editors sure do lol
I loved this scene. All I can say is...Hell Yes! :D Tyrion is right where he needs to be and Dany has one of the best minds on her side now. Now all that needs to happen to make this absolutely perfect is for Varys to show up as well. :D And I'm hoping he will, very soon.
This did not age well lol
Oh woof. This comment hurts
Oh sweet summer child
LaughterInportable He is such a weak king tought :(.
LaughterInportable I think she just said a bit more than that...
Did not you notice? She INCLUDED herself in the wheel -
Lannister, TARGERYEN....
Best meet up ever in the serie
I can't put my feelings into words in this scene. Ahhhhhh love them both Go Dany and Tyrion!!!!
best episode of the series, Jon Snow is azor ahai confirmed. series is spoiling books. Tyrion meets Dany. Damn. Lets go to the Summer Isles my friends
jo el Not really spoiling, the Jon and Night King staring intimately at each other could mean anything really. But for sure best episode
jo el spoiling books? More like ruining them
jo el how do you conclude jon is azor ahai? That he killed the WW with his sword? Could just have been Valyrian Steel
the teasing both in books and series is huge, c'mon man
jo el idk not seeign it being too huge, nothing major has been spoiled. everyone suspected jons specialness, other than that no massive spoilers. I mean heaps has changed from the books but you cant really call that a spoiler.
Tyrion: "We're speaking metaphorically here, Your Grace. Stopping it and breaking it are the same thing."
After the fact, it's not clear to me how her vision of breaking the wheel differed significantly from stopping the wheel with her on top.
Well, that didn't age well my friend
@@karbonythe none of them did
Well my friend here we are years later...what do you think?? How about that brand part especially??
He gave her the best advice she could've heard. Rule here and leave westeros alone.
emilia is the greatest. remarkable woman, remarkable role model! love her so much !!!!!!!!!
I actually liked this conversation more than the battle at the end.
One of the best episodes by far, probably in the whole series, so far anyway...
Poor Greyjoy. No one ever mentioned about them. The Stark were nearly wiped out, but at least many recognized this house.
All they need is Jon Snow and the three headed dragon will be complete
What do you mean?
Manuel Gamer The Dwarf + Mother of Dragons + The Knight (Jorah) + The Bastard + The Young Assassin = best combo
Hot Shame sounds like a rpg / dnd group.
Arya Stark ofcourse
Manuel Gamer "The dragon has three heads"
Despite Tyrion failing her every step of the way, he was right here. Maybe Essos was her home. Maybe she could create a new wheel
In the books Daenerys wants a home, family and peace more than literally anything else. What Tyrion suggested there would have done so much for her. A really good quote from a Season 8 rewrite i saw once perfectly drives that home. "What do you do if you don't have a home? You build a new one."
I remember this sound byte being the preview teaser of the season. Probably the last show I ever anticipated for and watched live.
Valkyrie Sardo of course she can read, she speak like 4 languages or more! The common language of westeros, valyrian, dothraki...
Whoops
Spoiler maybe...
Am I the only one who thinks when Melisandre talks about the power of a Kings blood, she is talking about Targaryen blood. One of Stannis' grandparents was a Targaryen. Targaryens are of the blood of old Valyria and has close connections to dragons and magic. Not unlikely that their own blood has magic probaties.
(Sorry for butchering English)
***** because he is...
"The common people will support me..."
"Why? There's no slaves to free on Westeros, you have to give them something different."
And that is the issue. She had no purpose in Westeros. Being a dragon rider whilst cool looking wasn’t going to work in Westeros.

Ya know in hindsight this ended being pretty darn good advice. Had she just stayed in Essos she would've still been alive. And the Night King would have no means of getting past the wall without an undead dragon unless we assume that he would.
I love when she takes the wine off him, bff! I called it haha
they saved season 5 with this episode awesome!!!
And she did break the wheel. While also setting fire to the cart, road and entire city
We did it, Patrick!
0:37 - 0:45 that was the best advise Tyrion gave Dany...she should had listened to him
This was such a promising first conversation. Still angry at how D&D destroyed these characters with subpar writing.
Reason why I won't give them money to watch HoD.

This was an awesome scene. Too bad overshadowed by the glorious white walker scenes.
mrKpooper4 i agree..it should have happened in the last episode..they lost a big opportunity there
This felt like a crossover between two separate shows. Surreal and momentous.
This episode is the best one of all 5 seasons. Unreal
Best fight or slaughter ever in all the seasons!!
I mean, all the clues were right there.
The first super obvious hint that she would turn to a vilain was when she burned everyone and grabbed the unsullied.
The problem with later season was not that she turned mad, itwas always the path of that character. The problem is how poorly it was executed.
Bingo. There's a good chance the books will go the same way, but it'll be the execution that makes the difference.
Really feels like she could have done better just ruling back in Essos, biding her time. At least in the show. It's not like the dragons actually ended up being useful in the war against the dead. Could have just shown up with her army at full strength, perched on top of the red keep and won.
Can't wait for the next episode
Here gentlemen , are some of the best dialogues in the series 💪
"You're going to advice me.
....
While you can still speak in complete sentences."
Tyrion's face when she takes his wine. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Dionysus
Daenerys really needed to understand that you can’t win the game if you don’t want to play it. If she really wanted the Iron Throne she should have realized that she would have to play politics no matter how much she hated it.
Unbelievably, stunningly interesting.
Nice to have great writers.
Not that damn "Wheel speech" again, don't get me wrong, I loved Dany at season 1-3 / book 1-3. But now I hate her. Hopefully she becomes the main antagonist in the future because her winning in the end seems too cliche.
You have the Plannis
Stannis The Mannis again? i don't remember her giving this speech before
Stannis The Mannis IT was from the trailer... she hasn't said it before..
Stannis The Mannis Fake
The main antagonist? Ha! Compared to what? The motherfucking ice zombies out to kill them all? You wish.
Tyrion literally gave her the best advice to any ruler in history in his first real cogent moment. You've saved a ton of lives right here, right now. Maybe this is where you belong.
And she suceeded beautifully.
Really liking the beard.
The worst and dumbest thing Daenerys did up until this point. Everything else aside why on earth make a Lannister (the family who completely betrayed and murdered her father and niece and nephew) her hand of the queen.
"I'm going to break the wheel."
"okay.. that's a cool line, but how do you actually plan on doing that? what are you going to do?"
"well... uh.... you see... the common people! and uh... the....my um home and my um... claim..."
Heartbreak and anger is all I saw on her face. She may not of been In Love with him but she did love him and had nothing but absolute trust in him
I have been waiting for these two to meet. I am over the moon happy :D
awesome episode, one of the best in the 5 seasons
Tyrion was actually bang on here. She'd made great gains in Essos and was sacrificing it all to essentially start from scratch in what was to her, a foreign land. This was Tyrion's last smart moment. She could've built a brand new powerful kingdom in Essos and begun trades with the Westeros monarchy, man I'd love to see a What If of that scenario actually
Tyrion tried to warn her from the very beginning.
0:27 both Tyrion's first and best advise
"I'm going to break the wheel"
Later when she's killing lords that wouldn't bend the knee, why was anyone surprised?
They are surprisingly good together. Had to roll my eyes when Dany done the whole 'break the wheel' speech though. 😌
Dany: I'll give Stannis Storms End.
Stannis: I want it in writing.
The poor Martels didn't even get a name drop despite being the most obvious Targ loyalists in the realm.
Anyone else remember when this show was good?
when she said she was going to Break The Wheel, she was foreshadowing that she was going to *wipe out every major and minor House in Westeros* as soon as she could.
Dany is so uptight now! I miss when she had emotion and was nice
Those are very necessary character according to me. Good characters.
"I'm going to break it" was like a claxon and a solar flare. Durrrr.
D and D honored Martin's original vision for Daenerys here.
“House Targaryen is gone.” 😢

This is the type of interaction we needed in the last seasons, it’s a terrible shame what the show got made into from something so epic…
love how he forgot Greyjoy, Arryn, Martell and Arryn when listing the Paramount Lords lol
No one respects the Greyjoys. House Arryn is officially led by a boy. And the Martells were the only family to resist the Targaryens originally.

Charlie Harris foreshadowing maybe.....................
MsLm97 you just broke the wheel of my mind
Charlie Harris LOL thank you, you should see my other comment on this video o_O
What about the Martells, Tyrion?
Raphael Isnard he purposely left them out because hes trying to test Dany's resolve to go to Westeros.
Tyrion is too much of a playah
Raphael Isnard I thought that too! They would totally back Danny.
insaneapples you're wrong. You know nothing
