@@jarret45 Season 6 had it's moments at times, but it was pretty botched. They messed up when they killed off Stannis and his army in season 5, as it's he & his army that brings together the Northern Houses to take out the Boltons in the books (well hinted strongly at in what GRRM has revealed from WoW. Instead they had a chunk of them mutiny in the show, handover Jon's brother to the Boltons, and sent Sansa north way too early and for some reason not tell Jon that the army of House Arryn was on the way. Then they decided to ruin the Brotherhood without Banners, killed off Barristan Selmy after his actor spoke up about some of their bad changes, make Euron Greyjoy a generic/lame pirate, make the Golden Company into a joke, castrate Jon Snow's character, and turn Jamie Lannister into a whipped man with no backbone after all that character development he had. They didn't even do Clegane Bowl right (Bran's vision saw Jamie & the Hound fighting him in a huge battle). Should have listened to GRRM and went 10 seasons with 10 episodes each, with a long finale episode for the final 2-3 seasons. Instead, Dave & Dan revealed how much of a hack they both were, pushed out GRRM, and showed how terrible they are writing.
People can slam Barristan Selmy all they want for serving Daenerys, but lets admit, he's the reason Daenerys accepted Jon as a guest and later an ally, because he told her about the crimes her father committed, particularly towards Jon's family. His being honest and truthful to Daenerys led her to try and repent for it by allying with Jon.
@@BlackDiamond2718 I mean she was open to him coming to possibly declare his allegiance, she wasn't ready to wipe out the Starks and Baratheons. Then they dismissed him even relieved him from his oaths and for the first time in decades he is allowed to listen to his own moral compass again. That’s what people shame him for? Exactly, Robb was the last King in the North, although I'll let Dany slide since she just washed up on Westeros recently... but Jon? Nah, unfortunately not
Robb was king due to the kingdoms being at war He was never actually a king who ruled because he didn't get the chance to He was never actually recognised as king. Neither was renly. Neither was stannis
I don’t think it would have added anything to the conversation, since Robb was dead, wasn’t king for very long, and wasn’t king while a Targaryen was around to have possibly sworn fealty to. It wasn’t particularly relevant and would have been a waste of time.
I love how Daenerys actually apologizes for her father. You can tell that meant a lot to Jon. She was overly arrogant at other parts and she was a mess as a leader. Something that is explained much more in the books than in the show.
She wasn't a mess of a leader, she had terrible advisors who kept her 'impulses' at bay. those impulses are what would have made her a better leader. If you were born a royal, you would believe in your titles and your claim, I don't see how this makes Daenerys arrogant but Sansa not?
I don't. She did it to interrupt Jon when he started pointing out the hypocrisy of 'breaking faith'. It's less of an apology and more of a tool to sweep a serious problem under the rug before anyone can focus it. It is the arrogance.
"You come to break faith with House Targaryen?" "I ask you not to judge a daughter by the sins of her father." Girl, you can't ask someone to HONOR the past & FORGET about it. If you want to reap the rewards of the past, you've got to handle the bad that comes with it.
@@jdubo1998 Yep. what's more, Dany knows this too. That's why she moves right onto the pragmatic argument ("Our houses made good allies") and then a direct offer ("I'll make you Warden"). And then when Jon rebuffs that, she doesn't argue, but moves right on to realpolitik ("Dragons and Dothraki")
are you choosing to ignore the full clip? Jon already mentioned that and her silence to it spoke volumes... what is it with people repeating whats already in the clip lol.
@Oishii Kudasai Jon never should have kneeled to Danaerys. I liked her until she became so rude, proud, and power hungry. How Jon ever fell in love with her makes no sense. Maybe he only saw her beauty.

That was a chilling moment for me tbh. 0:01 the image of Daenerys just sitting there is so powerful. You can feel the presence... it's so intimating. She was just rumors, stories, urban myth in Westeros until the moment she landed on Dragonstone. It's like meeting a huge and very secretive celebrity for the first time.
And it's even better when you look at the shape of the entry to the dragonglass cave: it's the same shape as her throne. Really links it back to history that everyone's forgotten.

I just wish this video continued for few more minutes... Sir Davos quoting Jon snow's achievements and ending it with John snow turning over Davos to stop him was literally lit 🔥
its because of the characters, Dany is a braggadocious blowhard who succeeds on reputation, and she has her mouthpiece constantly announcing her like a peacock. Jon on the other hand doesnt care for any of that, and he wanted Davos to stop building him up right there
Maybe they didn’t mention it cause he was not recognised as such by anyone but his subjects - but it would have been cool if Jon was like “no, Robb Stark was the last King in the North”
All of the 4 kings from the war of the 5 kings are known as pretenders because they didn't win lol. Basically that's how our actual world history records "kings" who were never actually crowned and who never actually ruled, but tried to fight for their claim.
It's amazing when you realize just how right Jon is right when he says "the dead are the enemy." Knowing what the Night King could do with a simple movement of his arms shows that a thousand men, women, and children, and even cripples, could all die on the field of battle, or in the comfort of their homes, and he would just bring them back to keep on fighting like a tidal wave.
Tragic and even though neither of them knew much about their family history it was ironic that Jon killed Daenerys. As so many of their ancestors died at the hands or actions of another family member.
Since the first season, I wanted Jon and Daenerys to meet and have a relationship. However, when Ygritte appeared, my desire changed, and I no longer wanted Jon to be with anyone else. Despite this, I still hoped Jon and Daenerys would meet and become allies, even though I no longer saw them as a couple. In the end, everything that happened between them left me with a bittersweet feeling.
The debate about what we inherit from our ancestors is an old one. For centuries the prevailing thought was you had a right to the world your fathers built and anyone who for any reason challenged that was your enemy. On the other hand there’s a religious frenzy of accusing another group’s ancestors to demand tribute or reparations for actions committed long ago which are considered crimes to the mind of the newer generation that didn’t witness the events.
1:142:16 I like it takes a single minute for her to go from "I'm judging you for not upholding your distant ancestor's oath" to "hey, don't judge me for my father's actions."
Something I never put together until recently is that this is the first time Tyrion and Davos meet face to face after the Battle of Blackwater Bay where Davos' son Mathos was killed by Tyrion's wildfire. What I like most about Davos is that he's a sensible and reasonable man. He doesn't blame Tyrion for Mathos' death. He doesn't seek revenge or harbor any ill will towards Tyrion. He understands it wasn't personal and that it was "just business".
It was war, plain and simple. Greg "Pappy" Boyington, the Marine fighter jock behind Black Sheep Squadron, had been held in a Japanese POW camp but said in his memoir that he never held any animosity towards Japanese people as a whole over it.

Compared to pre-Conquest, it was MUCH more peaceful. You couldn't go a summer without a war between at least two of the kingdoms. After the Conquest, they had the REASONABLE war against the Faith, the Dance, the war against Dorne and ... what, two proper Blackfyre Rebellions?
Westeros before Aegon's Conquest:- Non stop war between Kingdoms. It was more peaceful post Aegon's conquest. They were so many war prisoners the Night's Watch could form an army of 10000 men lol.
The face Jon lets Dany talk about his family’s vow to the Targaryens but she immediately stops him the second he brings up her father shows she both fears and hates her connection to him wanting to wipe it away so as not to inconvenience her plans where as Jon simply acknowledges and accepts what his family did in short he let her talk she tries to silence him

Jon Snow was probably the best person on the show in terms of leadership. He did a lot of maturing on the show, but by far he would have been the best ruler out of all of them.
@@red2977 I don't think he would make a great ruler. You cannot be so meek and easy to manipulate to be a great ruler. How he allowed Tyrion to manipulate him into killing Dany was beyond pathetic to me. Also, Dany's descent into madness is partly his fault. There is a moment where all Dany wanted, and needed, was his love. She had lost two of her dragons for him, she had lost her best friend, and the North had betrayed her despite her sacrificing everything for them. And all she wanted was for Jon to love her, give himself to her, and herself to him, and Jon couldn't give her that. Imagine going through all that and then having the person you love and trust the most reject you. That was the finally straw that made her descend into madness.

What people are you taking about? No one opposed his choice to join her.
@@BlackDiamond2718 I mean she was open to him coming to possibly declare his allegiance, she wasn't ready to wipe out the Starks and Baratheons. She was prepared to legitimise Jon as Jon Stark, make him warden of the North, like she did with Gendry. All that was because Selmy opened her eyes.
And by the way, most of the Starks did oppose his choice to join her, especially Sansa and Arya, because of what her father did to Ned's father and brother.

This scene gave me so much hope for the future. I knew Daenerys and Jon would meet one day. Sad that it ended the way it did.
There's still hope in the books. As long as George finishes it that is.
I feel like this scene had a lot of potential on philosophical dialogue. The dialogue felt like how we speak.
Yeah, it seemed they used a lot of rhetorical techniques.
