It broke my heart how in the last season Jon betrayed himself. He allowed everyone else to get in his head saying she would never ever rule beside him or share the throne when honestly that's All she ever wanted: a partner who was her equal and her Home. Dany was right, everyone was pushing him to the throne even though he never wanted that all for their own ambition.
It is true that she would provide more good than harm as a ruler. But the whole burning kings landing down was a bad indicator. The city had all surrendered but Cersei. She didn’t have to kill thousands of innocent people to have victory.
I cried a lot after stabbing danerys by aegon. Danerys did the right thing. Slave bay people revolted and tried to kill her even though she freed them. It is better to burn these people otherwise they will try to kill. Aegon tricked by dwarf. I want to hit the the writer and director for leaving the final series in such pain. Aegon and danerys targaryan make perfect king and queen. I miss their episodes of love.

She didn't lose anything for him except Viserion. She came to Westeros to become Queen and going after Cersei was always on her agenda. But if they didn't stop the WWs, Westeros would have become a land full of nothing but the dead. They would have continued south and killed everyone in KL, the Riverlands, everywhere- even Essos. In the book the city of Asshai by the Sea also has a huge wall and a legend about The Great Other and the hero Azor Ahai who defeated him.

So beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. This was a story that never should have ended like it did. These two would have made a wonderful Queen and King. She went against everyone else’s expectations and wanted him to rule with her. She truly adored him. It hurts so much seeing what they went through. Despite what some say I seriously doubt Jon is enjoying his “freedom”. Sure Aemon said love is the death of duty which but at the same time he also said “A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing” and that is exactly what Jon is at the end. 😭
Not really- he has Ghost and Turmond and his freedom- he did what he set out to do, unlike Danny who failed at everything. She could not handle not being the most important person that lived- and she cracked.

It's why she always valued her closest friends and allies (Missandei, Grey worm, Jorah, Ser Barristan, Mirri Muzz Dur, Doreah) and why their betrayals hurt her so much to the point they hardened her into feigning the aloof uncaring queen. She never attempted to use her friends for her own gain. They followed her because they believed in her, and she believed in herself too - that she would be the one to save them all - so she felt that loyalty was deserved. But she didn't just take their loyalty for granted, she strived to be a good ruler, someone worthy of that loyalty. Of being a special saviour. In Mereen she put her own pride aside to bend to the wants and needs of her people- that isn't the actions of an egoistic tyrant. Betrayal taught her that friendship wouldn't be enough, that nobody's allegiance was secure. It hardened her into keeping her vulnerabilities to herself to feign aloofness in her own court, which is why her relationships seem relatively one sided in the show, but it was just a game. Dany has always cared too much. The North spat on her for her efforts at reuniting the 7 kingdoms, she felt alone and isolated in a land where everyone either fears her or hates her existence. Not for anything she's done or who she is, but because of a name. Tell me how is that any different from Jon snow? The bastard of Winterfell who had nothing and got sent packing to the wall cz his family didn't know what to do with him?

All her life the one thing she's ever known is that she's the exiled princess, rightful heir to the 7 kingdoms. Jons existence threatened that, simply cz he's a male Targ heir. She found out all her efforts, her belief in herself was based on a lie. I know it was just as rough for Jon, arguably more, since his entire life turned out to be a lie that Ned sold- but hers turned out to ALSO be a lie, and unlike Jon the lie wasn't forced on her by someone before her birth. No she believed she won her freedom herself and based the rest of her life around a lie HERSELF. When its not her fault that Jon is who he is. The revelation made her campaign futile, and her into a fool, for presenting herself as the rightful heir when the real heir exists and the people she's given so much for would choose him over her. After going through so much strife and loss to do what she believed was ‘‘what was right for everyone'' (not just her!). Rhaegar and Lyanna did what they did without telling anyone, its not her fault they secretly had a son, its not her fault she grew up in essos and got branded a forigner whore for it, its not her fault Viserys sold her to a Khal to get an army specifically telling her it was so they could finally have a home, and its def not her fault that Aerys went mad and her families bloody legacy became hers to repent for. She had to fight tooth and nail for everything she had, just like Jon, and it wasn't pure arrogance that got her there, it was her compassion, her charisma as a leader and a saviour. The reveal stripped her of her most powerful tool to protect herself, thats gotten her through being raped by a Khal, and tossed around from one part of essos to the next. Her confidence. Self assurance in her goal. I hate how people only focus on the part of her that's ‘‘arrogant'', when its perfectly realistic after everything she's gone through to have the power of 3 dragons and the greatest army the world has ever seen (After having NOTHING) to go to her head. She needed support, someone to hold her hand and find a new path for herself. Either keep on with her plans for the iron throne or go back to Mereen where she was already a lauded Essosi queen. Whatever mistakes Jon snow made in regards to how he treated her, the worst was that he left her to feel the brunt of it, alone.

We all deserved that. And sadly, that was not what we received. In script writing, there still needs to be structure and stability. The development of the storyline, individual characters, the interaction between those characters, character arcs and changes. For 7 seasons we received this. There was such a huge & exciting buildup of so many important aspects of the show. It was clear that Daenerys and John were on that same destined path. The last 2 Targaryens left. The Prince & Princess who were promised -to bring the dawn. Fighting together to destroy the largest threat to all of Westeros. The Night King. The entire show led these two iconic characters together. It should have not ended as it did. Daenerys was yes, fiery. But not a delusional mass murderer.

One word to describe your video: Perfection. You handled and showed their parallels and love story in such a beautiful way! When "Truth" kicked in , I lost it. I cried my eyes out. I don't think I will ever fully recover from this ending . It has left me traumatized and I can't rewatch scenes that I love due to that. Anyway , their story was tragic and terribly sad but they were the 2 most amazing characters ( to me) in the whole saga and they deserved better.
Well Jon got his freedom from the NW and will be free to live the rest of his life with his friends in the North which is what he always wanted. He always wanted to be a Ranger like his Uncle, Benjen. Then when he went undercover with the wildlings, he traveled with them and got to see and love the area beyond the Wall.
I agree whole heartedly. I am rewatching the show now but will stop after Season 8. It's safe to say I will not be watching Season 8 ever again. Except maybe the second episode "A Knight in the Seven Kingdoms" or whatever it was called. I really liked that episode. Other than that, the ending was too horrible. I almost cried the other day when I rewatched some episodes in Season 1. It's crazy, such a good show ruined like that. That's tragic all by itself.
Agree... traumatized is an understated word...I too cried for several days... this is the first time I've been able to watch anything to do with GOT since that awful finale... it still hurts... The part that kills me every time is that Jon knows what it's like to be betrayed by people he thought he could trust....he knows what's it's like to think you're doing the right thing and be murdered for it....seeing how shocked Dany is when she sees his scars...like it was the worst thing she'd ever seen...it breaks my heart that he stabbed her knowing how fucked up that is. It breaks my fucking heart.
It was heartbreaking because he was the only one who knew. It was always about the wound in the heart, giving life for your people and being betrayed, she knew what the scars meant. It scared her because forshadowed her own death, yet she followed and trusted him. These connections are so important for the story if only they had shown more Jon's feelings and thoughts so it doesn't feel like he's just manipulated. Has he had a deeper insight after he was resurrected, how it goes with the idea that her child can finally destroy the iron throne when she dies, to her being "the mother"(her death scene is a bloody birth of a new world subverting dark tropes to challenge the order of the world we know). To me the writers failed Jon's character more than Daenerys, made him too blank and depressed. They made him a trope so he doesn't seem real human, repetition of stereotype but Daenerys is a myth and as such can be forever reshaping and rebuilding into something else like myths that incorporate all paradoxes of human nature and history.

This was beautiful 😥. What a great use of Dany and Jon's theme cause it was after all the truth of their family's history that ultimately destroyed her and forced him to end her life. I dont agree with the Season 8 ending but this definitely made me cry. "And seven kingdoms could not fill the Hole she left behind..."
There are other great videos of Jon and Daenerys, of their many parallels, of their quests, of their love. But this one has something special. This video "abandons the lies". What we have left? We see the truth of two tragic quests. Tragic means death, in the end. But in this world, we see that death is not the end. Death can be defeated. Parents are alive through their children, characters stay alive because we remember them and, because it's a fantasy, death is literally defeated by a new life and the new purpose that comes with it. We now dream of ice and fire together, of spring. Dany's last word: "together". Jon's last word: "always".
Me too, but I can understand for what he did. The reason why I really pissed off is, because Daenerys has the most tragic lifestory and this breaks my heard. She deserved all of what she wanted, because she saved the north, she saved all. Dany will always be my favorite character, as Jon is.

There is also a lack of spiritual depth that you can feel in the books from the beginning. But where is that different? Every filming of a novel has never been better. Your complaints about Jon's character are simply inaccurate. Especially in the last season I noticed how much Eddard Stark really is in Jon. Eddard, who helped Robert conquer the throne, renounced the crown. He did not even want the throne, just like Jon did. Jon helped Daenerys to conquer the throne and renounced the claim, but the honor was always his companion in his life, as with his foster father Ned Stark. It may not seem that way from the outside, but the death of Daenerys has broken Jon's heart the most, which is why he finally did it (love is the death of duty). Your criticism of Dany's sudden transformations from a conqueror of a city to a little girl who still can not count decently, are also incomprehensible. The difference between a filmed series and a book is that you read everything in a book, that is, the feelings and thought strands of any character, but in movies or series, the viewer interprets something like that himself. For me personally, the end makes sense and the series, especially the last two seasons were not as bad as most claim. Jon is the reborn Azor Ahai. He is the embodiment of ice and fire. He ended the reign of the Night King (Ice) and Daenery's (Fire). He, as Targaryen, knees before Bran Stark. 300 years after Torrhen Stark bent his knee in front of Aegon the Conqueror. Jon manages to close the circle and fulfill all prophecies. He has completed the song of ice and fire.

Jon has absolutely no point in being in the show after he died cuz he literally did NOTHING but to the very final episode where he kills dany. So his soul purpose was to kill Dany... that’s what you call a complete character arc ? And he didn’t do shit against the fight with the night king and you say he killed him as “ice” ... he was even more pointless in that fight than the generals of the night kings army for the love of God. He sat at a wall next to the trenches on a dragon for half the whole battle while everyone else basically died trying to light them up but he just sat there few feet away from the trenches, saw them all die trying but nope nah he didn’t think of lighting them up, he didn’t even need to get up of the wall to do it. My favorite moment from their final scene is when he calls her by her name, finally embracing who they both are which is analogous to their "falling in love scene" , then she abandons all "me" "I" and it's "we" until the final together, she acknowldges him as equeal

When I hear Sansa my mood sours. Arya and Tyrion convinced Jon that he was a threat 2 Dany. She wasn't she said they belong together, they break the wheel together.
Good Day GIGI. I went to visit a friend and missed the last two episodes. I was so excited to get back home, but after seeing so many negative comments (initially without spoilers) about people saying they did not like the ending, I was afraid to watch. After about two months, I got a spoiler (Evil Cersei and Jamie's death), I didn't care about that, but the comments kept getting worse and finally got the horrible spoiler that Jon killed Dany!! WTH!!! I read further and find out that Sansa becomes Queen of the North (REALLY!!!), Bran becomes the King of Westeros (WHAT!!!) … and Jon (Who sacrificed himself throughout the series for everyone other than himself!!!) is arrested and banned to the Wall. ... and Arya goes away!!! WTH!!! NO!!! THIS CAN'T BE THE ENDING!!! After I read what happened, I don't want to see the last two episodes where Dany's character was destroyed in such a short time. I still can't believe the writers had Jon kill Dany!! Dany was not a mad queen and I think rushing her into insanity in the last two episodes was lazy writing and not imaginative at all!!! I am not usually a couch critic, but Dany's story deserved so much more than to "kill" her character before actually "killing" her character. UGH!!! Arya was my favorite, so I'm ending GOT with the episode where Arya kills the Night King. The White Walker threat was a big part of GOT for me, with such a huge build up of possible extermination of the human race, so once the White Walkers were wiped out, it pretty much went way down hill in the last few episodes from what I've read, so I'll stay with my good memories of GOT which was a GREAT series. Yes I agree with your comments ,no one is happy with the end of a very nice and expensive tv series which gain so many awards and excellent actors. Is like someone said “Shut it down NOW !” and madness is such a good excuse for everything... I expect with great interest the day I will read Martin ‘s new book “The wind of Winter ❄️ “ where I think will have MORE night King and nighwatchers and of course Dragons....and that will be a day to remember because I believe that the story will have a completely different end . The wheel had to be broken everything had to come full circle for the wheel to finally to be broken, so the prince or princess who was promised prophecy was ultimately fulfilled. This is their triumphant yet tragic story this is the Song of Fire and Ice.

Where did drogon take Dany after she took a knife to the heart? Mellisandra was able to bring back Jon... he may have taken her east where they practice magic. Jon also went north where magic still lives. Who knows maybe this love story isn’t over... I just want it to continue and I miss Khaleesi👑♥️

One of the very best Jonerys videos ever. You so beautifully crafted their individual journeys and the parallels. Their meeting, their relationships, all their nuances when together, you carefully and beautifully showed all of it and how it all entwined. The way you crafted it made the ending seem right and not rushed. Honestly still can't believe the awful writing for the final season. Brilliant cinematography, beautiful scenes...but they really messed up HOW they got to the end. Anyway, I'm crying over here, and still fantasising about a Targaryen restoration with these two epic characters ruling TOGETHER ALWAYS 💕 Thank you once again for this brilliant masterpiece. I've got this thing where I start watching a show, and really enjoy it. And I get into the story and watch the characters and the journeys they take. The romances they have. And then it ends in such a way that leaves a gut wrenching feeling inside. I fear this one will last forever.

I honestly wish we got just one more season with the two of them. Season 8 focus on the white walkers and knight king while Dany and Jon's love story serves as the backbone of the season. Culminating with them having a child and getting married. Then in season 9 show the decline of Dany into madness. Season 9 would be the Excalibur/Doctor Zhivago of Game of Thrones. The ultimate tragic love story of fantasy films and t.v. shows. Both seasons would also explore the political/social ramifications of the romantic relationship.

Attitudes towards them, especially from the Northerners who the show made out to be against her and against their incestful relationship, plots against them from within their borders and outside, attitudes towards him from her Essos people, rebuilding and unifying several shattered kingdoms, Jon feeling stifled by the constant duty and wantinh to just have a simple, free life with her, the possibility of more dragons, the possibility of them starting a family, maybe part of her descent into madness comes at being a mother and how overprotective she could get...SO. MUCH. POTENTIAL I am devastated 💔 we didn't get more. My god it could've been even more of a cash cow for the network...
Wonderful work, it's almost like a movie that draws you in with complex paralels and symbolism, emotions and music. Better story telling than entire season 8. You really understood what their story was about. It's one story from the beginning, with two halves of the whole, with reversed journeys of two people who must meet and die in the same way to bring the dawn and break their parents' bad cycle, to become a tragic and insparing myth for the others, the truth about humanity. Loved the quote from Cersei: "the more people you love the weaker you become" and Dany being terrified she feels nothing. Finally, she loses her mind and follows her heart making herself vulnerable and he betrays his heart and follows reason when she reassures him (you'd always knew) to do what's right. If they had made any different choices and decisions, this wouldn't have happened, together they ended the story of game of thrones, become complete by their converging weaknesses and strenghts.
@@Kirwani90 It was striking because it comes from Cersei and there are so many paralels between Daenerys and Cersei and her brother; this quote shows the best for me how they were different. Cersei spends her energy on building barriers around herself and Dany slowly abandons her defenses losing what she had and allows her own people betray her and kill her. She made herself weak. She wanted the Iron Throne as the birthright and did everything the way that prevented her from sitting on it. She could get there in no time if she unlished all that power soon enough and didnt let anyone stop her. She lost herself instead following "good guys" who destroyed her.

Dany listened to no one but herself. Jon listened to everyone but himself. They were two sides of the same coin. Though her life (as a woman) was harder, they both understood what it was like to be cast aside. Underestimated. They were able to rise above other people's expectations. They became rulers, in their own right. Daenerys's claim was a myth, not taken seriously. Jon Snow was a bastard, not to be given any real power. Somehow, through extraordinary will, they proved that they deserved what they'd earned. Yes, Dany was headed towards a "Mad Queen" end. But, can you blame her? She lost the only female friend she trusted. She lost the love of Jon. Her Hand finally lost faith in her. I'm not saying that she didn't bring on her own fate. But, as suggested by the scene, she became THE dragon. She did what her ancestors had been doing for centuries. She might not have been the only Targaryen, but she was the true one. I feel for Jon. He was acting out of a place of duty, and even concern. It fully broke his heart to betray her. Yet, I sympathize more with her. She achieved so much; only to die at the hands of someone who loved her. I don't know whether that's comforting, or tragic. I wish the writers cared just as much about Dany, as they did Jon Snow. Just because she's not a "good" character, does not mean she was any less beloved.
Really liked this. Daenerys was betrayed by everyone. Sansa and Tyrion especially - loathed those two. Hated the ending and a betrayal to all the readers and fans.
Both Jon and Dany were ruined in last season.... Tyrion, Arya, Sansa & Bran emerged superior as heroes... Daenerys labeled a mad queen and Jon labeled as Traitor... Fuck D&D
This video beautifully shows the parallels between Jon and Dany, except for the crucial and unforgivable difference: the writers gave him plot armour and her character assassination. It's such a shame the show was known for strong female characters and that was just a cruel trick: in the end they are revealed as weak and unstable. The ultimate message was, as TV critic Maureen Ryan said, "bitches be crazy." After years of making us love Dany. What are people who got a Danaerys tattoo, dressed up as the Mother of Dragons every Halloween, wrote Breaker of Chains fanfic, supposed to feel when they loved a character for years only to be stabbed in the heart just for a cruel plot twist? And spending years tolerating the sexist nudity and rape scenes because "strong female characters" when in the end even the Big Bad, Queen Cersei, is revealed to be weak? It was a betrayal on several levels.
What happened was so wrong. He allowed others voices and ambition to taint everything they had. It messed with Daenerys mind. She never would have done what she did in Kings Landing if he had been standing by her rather than his so called family. Sansa and Arya never gave Daenerys a chance.
Well, she wanted him by her side as she continued her destruction -- and this was after she burned down a city full of surrendered people and felt it was right, thinking this was the way to a better world. However, Dany wasn't receptive to Jon pleading for her to show mercy to the people. She rejected mercy. No matter who it is, Jon can't really let that go on or let her burn the world. (By the way, I'm not saying I like this ending at all or what Dany was turned into with this, I think it was out of left field but there were plot reasons for this. Jon didn't just betray Dany out of the blue for no reason, without any hesitation or reluctance, and Dany wasn't really being the benevolent queen here...).

well, I watched the whole thing. There were some parallels even I didn't catch. I'm not sure what to say, the video is amazing. All your love and fascination with their stories and how they intertwine with one another is right there in the editing. Seeing it again, nothing makes sense all over. I recently watched another video that was just D and it too was a masterpiece, but I noticed both of your videos...decline as you head into season 8. That is the reason I am sad, because it did not decline because of your editing- your editing is beautiful! It was wounded by the sheer transparent will of the writing that derails I'm noticing even videos. I'm beginning to see a different ending and your video helped that too. The looks they have, the bond apparent in their banter and how they would be just standing near each other is so strong that I feel pulled in by the music you chose, seeing the two dragons dance and the disunity and heartbreak displayed in the end...Truly amazing. Thank you for this wonderful art, I hope that everyone who sees it is touched, like me and all the others that felt the strength behind them, together because even separated they still are.

Dany could have been alive and queen if she didn't demolish a surrendered city or if she just agreed to show mercy as he was pleading. Jon didn't take everything from her. It's partially Jon's fault that Viserion died, yes. But it's not his fault Rhaegal died or Missandei died or Jorah died. It's not his fault that Dany burned down a surrendered city and refused mercy in the belief that it'd be used against her. And fighting the NK was in her interest too. Dany is responsible for her own choices, she's an adult, a queen, a leader. Just as Jon is.
This was an Epic. So gorgeous and breathtaking with every changing instrumental. You kept me engaged and my emotions changing from scene to scene and quote to quote. You're amazing! Thank you for sharing this with us!

GOT used to be the show of my life, now it's just a nightmare I wish I could Forget. I hated Joffery, Ramsay, The High Sparrow and many others, but now the character I hate the most is Tyrion, he was such a bad hand of the Queen that Dany went mad. He made sure she wouldn't get the Iron throne. She lost so much helping Jon , the North and many others on both continents, and was betrayed… Daenerys would never burn thousands of innocents… NEVER!
It's definitely not happening in the books but what is going 2 happen is the burning of Volantis. The part of the city behind the walls of high black stone, where the elite slaver families live.

It broke my heart how in the last season Jon betrayed himself. He allowed everyone else to get in his head saying she would never ever rule beside him or share the throne when honestly that's All she ever wanted: a partner who was her equal and her Home. Dany was right, everyone was pushing him to the throne even though he never wanted that all for their own ambition.
It is true that she would provide more good than harm as a ruler. But the whole burning kings landing down was a bad indicator. The city had all surrendered but Cersei. She didn’t have to kill thousands of innocent people to have victory.

I cried a lot after stabbing danerys by aegon. Danerys did the right thing. Slave bay people revolted and tried to kill her even though she freed them. It is better to burn these people otherwise they will try to kill. Aegon tricked by dwarf. I want to hit the the writer and director for leaving the final series in such pain. Aegon and danerys targaryan make perfect king and queen. I miss their episodes of love.

She didn't lose anything for him except Viserion. She came to Westeros to become Queen and going after Cersei was always on her agenda. But if they didn't stop the WWs, Westeros would have become a land full of nothing but the dead. They would have continued south and killed everyone in KL, the Riverlands, everywhere- even Essos. In the book the city of Asshai by the Sea also has a huge wall and a legend about The Great Other and the hero Azor Ahai who defeated him.

So beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. This was a story that never should have ended like it did. These two would have made a wonderful Queen and King. She went against everyone else’s expectations and wanted him to rule with her. She truly adored him. It hurts so much seeing what they went through. Despite what some say I seriously doubt Jon is enjoying his “freedom”. Sure Aemon said love is the death of duty which but at the same time he also said “A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing” and that is exactly what Jon is at the end. 😭
Not really- he has Ghost and Turmond and his freedom- he did what he set out to do, unlike Danny who failed at everything. She could not handle not being the most important person that lived- and she cracked.

Of course she enjoys power! Her brother, her rapist husband and even her trusted advisors have repeatedly made her feel powerless since the moment she was born! Simply for being a Targ. It's very easy to become a monster when you're told that repeatedly and even your most faithful believers, like Tyrion, fear you will eventually become that.
She took the identity of Dragon queen, of the last Targaryen with 3 dragons, and made it her own weapon because thats all anybody would see when they looked at her anyway. ‘‘Know what you are bastard, and wear it like armor''
She wanted KL because it was the last thing of her family she knew to be hers, that's all Dany has wanted, a true Family! Her Homeland! It's why she always valued her closest friends and allies (Missandei, Grey worm, Jorah, Ser Barristan, Mirri Muzz Dur, Doreah) and why their betrayals hurt her so much to the point they hardened her into feigning the aloof uncaring queen. She never attempted to use her friends for her own gain. They followed her because they believed in her, and she believed in herself too - that she would be the one to save them all - so she felt that loyalty was deserved. But she didn't just take their loyalty for granted, she strived to be a good ruler, someone worthy of that loyalty. Of being a special saviour. In Mereen she put her own pride aside to bend to the wants and needs of her people- that isn't the actions of an egoistic tyrant.
Betrayal taught her that friendship wouldn't be enough, that nobody's allegiance was secure. It hardened her into keeping her vulnerabilities to herself to feign aloofness in her own court, which is why her relationships seem relatively one sided in the show, but it was just a game. Dany has always cared too much. The North spat on her for her efforts at reuniting the 7 kingdoms, she felt alone and isolated in a land where everyone either fears her or hates her existence. Not for anything she's done or who she is, but because of a name. Tell me how is that any different from Jon snow? The bastard of Winterfell who had nothing and got sent packing to the wall cz his family didn't know what to do with him?

All her life the one thing she's ever known is that she's the exiled princess, rightful heir to the 7 kingdoms. Jons existence threatened that, simply cz he's a male Targ heir. She found out all her efforts, her belief in herself was based on a lie.
I know it was just as rough for Jon, arguably more, since his entire life turned out to be a lie that Ned sold- but hers turned out to ALSO be a lie, and unlike Jon the lie wasn't forced on her by someone before her birth. No she believed she won her freedom herself and based the rest of her life around a lie HERSELF. When its not her fault that Jon is who he is.
The revelation made her campaign futile, and her into a fool, for presenting herself as the rightful heir when the real heir exists and the people she's given so much for would choose him over her. After going through so much strife and loss to do what she believed was ‘‘what was right for everyone'' (not just her!).
Rhaegar and Lyanna did what they did without telling anyone, its not her fault they secretly had a son, its not her fault she grew up in essos and got branded a forigner whore for it, its not her fault Viserys sold her to a Khal to get an army specifically telling her it was so they could finally have a home, and its def not her fault that Aerys went mad and her families bloody legacy became hers to repent for.
She had to fight tooth and nail for everything she had, just like Jon, and it wasn't pure arrogance that got her there, it was her compassion, her charisma as a leader and a saviour. The reveal stripped her of her most powerful tool to protect herself, thats gotten her through being raped by a Khal, and tossed around from one part of essos to the next. Her confidence. Self assurance in her goal.
I hate how people only focus on the part of her that's ‘‘arrogant'', when its perfectly realistic after everything she's gone through to have the power of 3 dragons and the greatest army the world has ever seen (After having NOTHING) to go to her head. She needed support, someone to hold her hand and find a new path for herself. Either keep on with her plans for the iron throne or go back to Mereen where she was already a lauded Essosi queen. Whatever mistakes Jon snow made in regards to how he treated her, the worst was that he left her to feel the brunt of it, alone.
Man, it should have ended with Dany and Jon victorious and happy together. That’s how it should have ended 😕😕😕😔😔😔

We all deserved that. And sadly, that was not what we received. In script writing, there still needs to be structure and stability. The development of the storyline, individual characters, the interaction between those characters, character arcs and changes. For 7 seasons we received this. There was such a huge & exciting buildup of so many important aspects of the show. It was clear that Daenerys and John were on that same destined path. The last 2 Targaryens left. The Prince & Princess who were promised -to bring the dawn. Fighting together to destroy the largest threat to all of Westeros. The Night King. The entire show led these two iconic characters together. It should have not ended as it did. Daenerys was yes, fiery. But not a delusional mass murderer.
This is a story of love and betrayal, triumph and tragedy, which involve and revolve around the two central protagonist of the entire eight seasons, Jon Snow and Deanerys Stormborn this alas is their story a Song of Ice and Fire.
Please don't lump the 8 shit season with the rest

One word to describe your video: Perfection. You handled and showed their parallels and love story in such a beautiful way! When "Truth" kicked in , I lost it. I cried my eyes out. I don't think I will ever fully recover from this ending . It has left me traumatized and I can't rewatch scenes that I love due to that. Anyway , their story was tragic and terribly sad but they were the 2 most amazing characters ( to me) in the whole saga and they deserved better.

Well Jon got his freedom from the NW and will be free to live the rest of his life with his friends in the North which is what he always wanted. He always wanted to be a Ranger like his Uncle, Benjen. Then when he went undercover with the wildlings, he traveled with them and got to see and love the area beyond the Wall.
I agree whole heartedly. I am rewatching the show now but will stop after Season 8. It's safe to say I will not be watching Season 8 ever again. Except maybe the second episode "A Knight in the Seven Kingdoms" or whatever it was called. I really liked that episode. Other than that, the ending was too horrible. I almost cried the other day when I rewatched some episodes in Season 1. It's crazy, such a good show ruined like that. That's tragic all by itself.

The voice over of "knife to the heart" just made me realize that he didn't take one just literally, but also figuratively.
The part that kills me every time is that Jon knows what it's like to be betrayed by people he thought he could trust....he knows what's it's like to think you're doing the right thing and be murdered for it....seeing how shocked Dany is when she sees his scars...like it was the worst thing she'd ever seen...it breaks my heart that he stabbed her knowing how fucked up that is. It breaks my fucking heart.
It was heartbreaking because he was the only one who knew. It was always about the wound in the heart, giving life for your people and being betrayed, she knew what the scars meant. It scared her because forshadowed her own death, yet she followed and trusted him. These connections are so important for the story if only they had shown more Jon's feelings and thoughts so it doesn't feel like he's just manipulated. Has he had a deeper insight after he was resurrected, how it goes with the idea that her child can finally destroy the iron throne when she dies, to her being "the mother"(her death scene is a bloody birth of a new world subverting dark tropes to challenge the order of the world we know). To me the writers failed Jon's character more than Daenerys, made him too blank and depressed. They made him a trope so he doesn't seem real human, repetition of stereotype but Daenerys is a myth and as such can be forever reshaping and rebuilding into something else like myths that incorporate all paradoxes of human nature and history.

This was beautiful 😥. What a great use of Dany and Jon's theme cause it was after all the truth of their family's history that ultimately destroyed her and forced him to end her life. I dont agree with the Season 8 ending but this definitely made me cry.

There are other great videos of Jon and Daenerys, of their many parallels, of their quests, of their love. But this one has something special. This video "abandons the lies". What we have left? We see the truth of two tragic quests. Tragic means death, in the end. But in this world, we see that death is not the end. Death can be defeated. Parents are alive through their children, characters stay alive because we remember them and, because it's a fantasy, death is literally defeated by a new life and the new purpose that comes with it.
We now dream of ice and fire together, of spring. Dany's last word: "together". Jon's last word: "always".

Me too, but I can understand for what he did. The reason why I really pissed off is, because Daenerys has the most tragic lifestory and this breaks my heard. She deserved all of what she wanted, because she saved the north, she saved all. Dany will always be my favorite character, as Jon is.

You cannot have both lol, she is either mad and emotionless or she is still here , the girl who loves Jon. But if she is still here , why kill her?? Nothing made sense in this crappy last season.

The series is not more comprehensive than the books are and is not as overwhelming, groundbreaking and extensive as the novel. There is also a lack of spiritual depth that you can feel in the books from the beginning. But where is that different? Every filming of a novel has never been better.
Your complaints about Jon's character are simply inaccurate. Especially in the last season I noticed how much Eddard Stark really is in Jon. Eddard, who helped Robert conquer the throne, renounced the crown. He did not even want the throne, just like Jon did. Jon helped Daenerys to conquer the throne and renounced the claim, but the honor was always his companion in his life, as with his foster father Ned Stark. It may not seem that way from the outside, but the death of Daenerys has broken Jon's heart the most, which is why he finally did it (love is the death of duty).
Your criticism of Dany's sudden transformations from a conqueror of a city to a little girl who still can not count decently, are also incomprehensible. The difference between a filmed series and a book is that you read everything in a book, that is, the feelings and thought strands of any character, but in movies or series, the viewer interprets something like that himself.
For me personally, the end makes sense and the series, especially the last two seasons were not as bad as most claim. Jon is the reborn Azor Ahai. He is the embodiment of ice and fire. He ended the reign of the Night King (Ice) and Daenery's (Fire). He, as Targaryen, knees before Bran Stark. 300 years after Torrhen Stark bent his knee in front of Aegon the Conqueror. Jon manages to close the circle and fulfill all prophecies. He has completed the song of ice and fire.

Every single character drops 50 IQs in the last two season. Tyrion (the smartest character in the whole story) comes up with this genius plan to go and get a white walker to prove it to his sister that they exist after spending 5 season convincing everyone around him that there is no negotiating with his sister.
Jon has absolutely no point in being in the show after he died cuz he literally did NOTHING but to the very final episode where he kills dany. So his soul purpose was to kill Dany... that’s what you call a complete character arc ? And he didn’t do shit against the fight with the night king and you say he killed him as “ice” ... he was even more pointless in that fight than the generals of the night kings army for the love of God. He sat at a wall next to the trenches on a dragon for half the whole battle while everyone else basically died trying to light them up but he just sat there few feet away from the trenches, saw them all die trying but nope nah he didn’t think of lighting them up, he didn’t even need to get up of the wall to do it.

Good Day GIGI. I went to visit a friend and missed the last two episodes. I was so excited to get back home, but after seeing so many negative comments (initially without spoilers) about people saying they did not like the ending, I was afraid to watch. After about two months, I got a spoiler (Evil Cersei and Jamie's death), I didn't care about that, but the comments kept getting worse and finally got the horrible spoiler that Jon killed Dany!! WTH!!! I read further and find out that Sansa becomes Queen of the North (REALLY!!!), Bran becomes the King of Westeros (WHAT!!!) … and Jon (Who sacrificed himself throughout the series for everyone other than himself!!!) is arrested and banned to the Wall. ... and Arya goes away!!! WTH!!! NO!!! THIS CAN'T BE THE ENDING!!! After I read what happened, I don't want to see the last two episodes where Dany's character was destroyed in such a short time. I still can't believe the writers had Jon kill Dany!! Dany was not a mad queen and I think rushing her into insanity in the last two episodes was lazy writing and not imaginative at all!!! I am not usually a couch critic, but Dany's story deserved so much more than to "kill" her character before actually "killing" her character. UGH!!! Arya was my favorite, so I'm ending GOT with the episode where Arya kills the Night King. The White Walker threat was a big part of GOT for me, with such a huge build up of possible extermination of the human race, so once the White Walkers were wiped out, it pretty much went way down hill in the last few episodes from what I've read, so I'll stay with my good memories of GOT which was a GREAT series. One of the very best Jonerys videos ever. You so beautifully crafted their individual journeys and the parallels. Their meeting, their relationships, all their nuances when together, you carefully and beautifully showed all of it and how it all entwined. The way you crafted it made the ending seem right and not rushed. Honestly still can't believe the awful writing for the final season. Brilliant cinematography, beautiful scenes...but they really messed up HOW they got to the end. I've got this thing where I start watching a show, and really enjoy it. And I get into the story and watch the characters and the journeys they take. The romances they have. And then it ends in such a way that leaves a gut wrenching feeling inside. I fear this one will last forever.

I haven’t cried this hard since watching Dany’s death scene for the first time
I honestly wish we got just one more season with the two of them. Season 8 focus on the white walkers and knight king while Dany and Jon's love story serves as the backbone of the season. Culminating with them having a child and getting married. Then in season 9 show the decline of Dany into madness. Season 9 would be the Excalibur/Doctor Zhivago of Game of Thrones. The ultimate tragic love story of fantasy films and t.v. shows. Both seasons would also explore the political/social ramifications of the romantic relationship.

Attitudes towards them, especially from the Northerners who the show made out to be against her and against their incestful relationship, plots against them from within their borders and outside, attitudes towards him from her Essos people, rebuilding and unifying several shattered kingdoms, Jon feeling stifled by the constant duty and wantinh to just have a simple, free life with her, the possibility of more dragons, the possibility of them starting a family, maybe part of her descent into madness comes at being a mother and how overprotective she could get...SO. MUCH. POTENTIAL I am devastated 💔 we didn't get more. My god it could've been even more of a cash cow for the network...
Wonderful work, it's almost like a movie that draws you in with complex paralels and symbolism, emotions and music. Better story telling than entire season 8.
You really understood what their story was about. It's one story from the beginning, with two halves of the whole, with reversed journeys of two people who must meet and die in the same way to bring the dawn and break their parents' bad cycle, to become a tragic and insparing myth for the others, the truth about humanity.
Loved the quote from Cersei: "the more people you love the weaker you become" and Dany being terrified she feels nothing. Finally, she loses her mind and follows her heart making herself vulnerable and he betrays his heart and follows reason when she reassures him (you'd always knew) to do what's right. If they had made any different choices and decisions, this wouldn't have happened, together they ended the story of game of thrones, become complete by their converging weaknesses and strenghts.

@@Kirwani90 It was striking because it comes from Cersei and there are so many paralels between Daenerys and Cersei and her brother; this quote shows the best for me how they were different. Cersei spends her energy on building barriers around herself and Dany slowly abandons her defenses losing what she had and allows her own people betray her and kill her. She made herself weak. She wanted the Iron Throne as the birthright and did everything the way that prevented her from sitting on it. She could get there in no time if she unlished all that power soon enough and didnt let anyone stop her. She lost herself instead following "good guys" who destroyed her.

Dany listened to no one but herself. Jon listened to everyone but himself. They were two sides of the same coin. Though her life (as a woman) was harder, they both understood what it was like to be cast aside. Underestimated. They were able to rise above other people's expectations. They became rulers, in their own right. Daenerys's claim was a myth, not taken seriously. Jon Snow was a bastard, not to be given any real power. Somehow, through extraordinary will, they proved that they deserved what they'd earned. Yes, Dany was headed towards a "Mad Queen" end. But, can you blame her? She lost the only female friend she trusted. She lost the love of Jon. Her Hand finally lost faith in her. I'm not saying that she didn't bring on her own fate. But, as suggested by the scene, she became THE dragon. She did what her ancestors had been doing for centuries. She might not have been the only Targaryen, but she was the true one. I feel for Jon. He was acting out of a place of duty, and even concern. It fully broke his heart to betray her. Yet, I sympathize more with her. She achieved so much; only to die at the hands of someone who loved her. I don't know whether that's comforting, or tragic. I wish the writers cared just as much about Dany, as they did Jon Snow. Just because she's not a "good" character, does not mean she was any less beloved.

This video beautifully shows the parallels between Jon and Dany, except for the crucial and unforgivable difference: the writers gave him plot armour and her character assassination. It's such a shame the show was known for strong female characters and that was just a cruel trick: in the end they are revealed as weak and unstable. The ultimate message was, as TV critic Maureen Ryan said, "bitches be crazy." After years of making us love Dany. What are people who got a Danaerys tattoo, dressed up as the Mother of Dragons every Halloween, wrote Breaker of Chains fanfic, supposed to feel when they loved a character for years only to be stabbed in the heart just for a cruel plot twist? And spending years tolerating the sexist nudity and rape scenes because "strong female characters" when in the end even the Big Bad, Queen Cersei, is revealed to be weak? It was a betrayal on several levels.
I much prefer the Night King song in this context than what s8 actually gave us. It's beautiful here. Thank you for allowing me to enjoy it!
What happened was so wrong. He allowed others voices and ambition to taint everything they had. It messed with Daenerys mind. She never would have done what she did in Kings Landing if he had been standing by her rather than his so called family. Sansa and Arya never gave Daenerys a chance.

(By the way, I'm not saying I like this ending at all or what Dany was turned into with this, I think it was out of left field but there were plot reasons for this. Jon didn't just betray Dany out of the blue for no reason, without any hesitation or reluctance, and Dany wasn't really being the benevolent queen here...).

@@carlosamador3349 I think it's more hurt over what happened with Dany's character in the final season and a desire to defend her, which I get and can sympathize with. I'm pretty sad about it myself. I don't really agree with the arguments, obviously, and I will argue against them, but I can understand the feeling behind them, you know? Had this not happened with Dany's character, it'd be different.
This was so Good, gave hope that she didn't die, that Drogon took her to the red woman to bring her back just like John came back, the parallel was on point.

well, I watched the whole thing. There were some parallels even I didn't catch. I'm not sure what to say, the video is amazing. All your love and fascination with their stories and how they intertwine with one another is right there in the editing. Seeing it again, nothing makes sense all over. I recently watched another video that was just D and it too was a masterpiece, but I noticed both of your videos...decline as you head into season 8.
That is the reason I am sad, because it did not decline because of your editing- your editing is beautiful! It was wounded by the sheer transparent will of the writing that derails I'm noticing even videos. I'm beginning to see a different ending and your video helped that too. The looks they have, the bond apparent in their banter and how they would be just standing near each other is so strong that I feel pulled in by the music you chose, seeing the two dragons dance and the disunity and heartbreak displayed in the end...Truly amazing. Thank you for this wonderful art, I hope that everyone who sees it is touched, like me and all the others that felt the strength behind them, together because even separated they still are.

Dany could have been alive and queen if she didn't demolish a surrendered city or if she just agreed to show mercy as he was pleading.
Jon didn't take everything from her. It's partially Jon's fault that Viserion died, yes. But it's not his fault Rhaegal died or Missandei died or Jorah died. It's not his fault that Dany burned down a surrendered city and refused mercy in the belief that it'd be used against her. And fighting the NK was in her interest too.
Dany is responsible for her own choices, she's an adult, a queen, a leader. Just as Jon is.

GOT used to be the show of my life, now it's just a nightmare I wish I could Forget. I hated Joffery, Ramsay, The High Sparrow and many others, but now the character I hate the most is Tyrion, he was such a bad hand of the Queen that Dany went mad. He made sure she wouldn't get the Iron throne. She lost so much helping Jon , the North and many others on both continents, and was betrayed… Daenerys would never burn thousands of innocents… NEVER!
